Shadow's P.O.V.

We were all called to an early morning meeting. Unfortunately for me, I was having difficulty concentrating. For some reason, I was having trouble concentrating on anything that was being said.

Why can't I stop thinking about that girl?! She's just a human in the body of a mobian due to one of the doctor's experiments. There's nothing special about her, right?

"Mobius to Shadow! Is anyone home?" I was snapped out of my thoughts to see a hand waving in front of my face. I glanced over to see Rouge standing next to me. "What is it?" I asked, slightly bewildered. "Meeting has adjourned." Omega said as he walked up behind Rouge. "Oh, okay. What's our mission?" I asked, standing up as I began to exit the room. "Actually, Omega and I will be going on this mission." Rouge informed. "What?!" Angrily, I stopped over to the commander. "Where is my mission, commander?" I asked. I gave missions to agents who were paying attention, Agent Shadow. If you want a mission then you should learn to keep your head out of the clouds." Without another word, the commander walked out of the room.

Angrily, I gritted my teeth. "Are you feeling well, Shadow?" Omega asked. I took a deep breath before calming down. "I'm fine. I'm just...a little tired." I dismissed. "Or could it be that our beloved Shadow has a thing for a certain stripped feline?~" Rouge teased. "Stop talking nonsense, Bat!" I said in annoyance as I started to walk away. "Speaking of Sasha, I brought her in today." She mentioned. "What?! Why?!"

"She actually insisted on coming in today. I told her I was going to try to bring her on a mission with us." She explained. "You know we can't bring untrained outsiders onto missions. It would be too dangerous."

"Don't worry. From what I've heard, Sasha is capable of taking care of herself and if not I would have been there to help her. But since you're not doing anything, you can stay and keep her entertained until we get back."

"That is an appropriate idea." Omega agreed. "What?! You can't just dump her off on-"

"We will be leaving now." Omega informed as he started to walk away with Rouge trailing behind him. "Don't have too much fun while we're gone!~" With that being said, the two of them left for their mission, leaving me furious.

Why is everyone trying to make a fool out of me today?! If they think I'm going to spend time with that girl, then they are delusional! She's the reason why I haven't been able to think straight lately!

I stomped out the room and began making my way to the shooting range to blow off some steam. On my way there, I passed by the break room and saw Sasha sitting in there alone. She for a bored expression on her face as she picked at her claws. I told myself that I wouldn't approach her, but for some reason, I did so anyway.

"Hi, Shadow. Where did Rouge go?" She asked. "Rouge and Omega left for a mission that was assigned to them."

"Seriously?! She told me that she was gonna take me on a mission too! That stupid bat stood me up!" She yelled angrily as she crossed her arms and pouted. I couldn't help but smirk at her in amusement. I did intend to practice in the shooting range, but then I had thought of a better idea. "Follow me." I said as I started to leave the room.

Sasha's P.O.V.

"Follow me." Shadow said, walking towards the exit. "Uhh...ok." I said skeptically, as I followed him out of the base. We kept walking until we stopped into a secluded area in the forest. Without replying, Shadow stared at me with his usual intense gaze. I couldn't help but fidget under the gaze of his crimson red eyes. "Soooo...what now?" I asked after standing in silence.

"Chaos Spear!" He suddenly shouted as he shot a chaos spear my way. "WHA-!" I screamed in absolute panic as I barely dodged the unexpected attack. I hissed sharply as I felt the chaos spear graze my cheek. "OW! WHAT THE HECK, SHADOW!" I exclaimed as I held my damaged cheek. Without saying a word, Shadow walked over and helped me up. I was tempted to jerk away from him until he gently grabbed my chin and closely examined my cheek. After a few seconds, his eyes slightly widened in surprise. "So it is true." He mumbled. "Wha-what's true...?" I asked shakily. "The fox said you have the power to heal yourself with chaos energy." He clarified. "Oh..." I tightly clenched my shaking fists, trying to calm my pounding heart and stop my hands from shaking.

R-r-right...just calm down, Sasha...j-just calm down... It wasn't him... It wasn't Li-

Suddenly, I felt a gentle touch on my arm, causing me to flinch. "Are you alright?" Shadow asked. I stared at him in surprise. His crimson eyes held genuine concern. "Yes...I'm alright." I replied, slightly stunned by his gentle behavior. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." He apologized with a hint of guilt in his voice.

"It's okay...let's just continue with the training." I said, changing the subject. "Wait a minute! You attacked me just so you could test that?!" I questioned angrily.

"Actually, my intentions were to see how well your reflexes are." He confessed in a nonchalant attitude. "What if I hadn't have dodged that?!"

"Don't worry, I knew you would." He replied with a knowing smirk. I scoffed as I crossed my arms and pouted. Although, I couldn't conceal the small smile creeping onto my face. But it quickly disappeared as soon as I realized something.

"Anyway, why did you bring me all the way out here to train? Couldn't we just do this in the training hall or something?" I asked, unsure of his reasons. "We are supposed to keep your abilities and the fact that you're originally a human from another planet a secret, remember? I did not want to risk anyone discovering that."

"Why exactly would that be bad if anyone finds out about that?" I questioned curiously. "Because if the wrong people find out, they may want to use you for your powers or anything else. Just like how the doctor wants to use you as one of his experiments. You wouldn't want that, would you?" Feeling uncomfortable chills run through my body, I hugged myself. "No..."

"For now, we should test your powers and learn how to use them." He said. "Alright then." I replied. Shadow nodded his head before he pulled out a green chaos emerald and placed it in my hand. Upon contact, I instantly felt it's warm power surging through my fingertips.

"A chaos emerald?" I asked in confusion. "I want to see if you can use chaos control." I cocked my head at him as if he had lost his mind. "As cool as that would be, I highly doubt that I would be able to do that."

I stared at the powerful gem. It reminded me that there are only three chaos emeralds left to find before I will be sent back home.

How would they react if I told them that I don't want to go back? Would they let me stay or would they force me to leave?

Dismissing the thoughts from my mind, I gazed at the ebony hedgehog. "Sooooo...How do I do this?" I asked uncertainly. "Picture yourself at the place you where you wish to be. Once you have done that, say 'chaos control' and the chaos emerald will teleport you there." Shadow explained. I nodded and closed my eyes. Furrowing my eyebrows in concentration, I tried my best to focus on my goal. "Chaos control!" After a few uneventful moments passed by, I finally opened my eyes to see that nothing had happened.

"I told you I can't do it." I said, dejectedly. "You need to relax your mind." Sheepishly, I rubbed the back of my head. My mind is not that...easy to clear..."

"Breathe deeply and relax your body. Only focus on where you want to go." The hedgehog instructed. I sighed as I once again closed my eyes. I began to breathe deeply, feeling my muscles relax. For the first time, I felt my mind being cleared except for one thought.

I want to be by Shadow's side.

"Chaos control!" Suddenly, I felt a rush of air. Immediately, I opened my eyes and looked over to see Shadow standing next to me with an approving smirk. "I did it!" I exclaimed triumphantly. "Good. Now try moving further this time." Excitedly, I tried again. This time I was further away. "This is SO cool!" I tried again one last time, but this time I slightly miscalculated where I had teleported. "AH!" I shrieked as I felt myself fall on top of something...or someone. I looked down to Shadow groaning as he rubbed the top of his head before giving me an unreadable expression. Realizing that I was straddling him, my cheeks began to burn in embarrassment.

Oh my gosh! He's definitely gonna chaos blast me right now!

Shadow's P.O.V.

I groaned as rubbed my sore head.

Clumsy human girl!

I tried to get up but something was keeping me from moving. My red eyes opened to see Sasha staring back at me with her deep brown eyes. Her face was completely flustered as she sat there straddling me. I wanted to growl at her. I wanted to shove her off of me. I even wanted to chaos blast her away. But for some reason, I could bring myself to do any of that. Instead, I had a desire to do something else and I couldn't hold it back anymore.

Panicking, she began to scramble her way off of me. "I-I'm so sorry...! I didn't mean to-!" Before she could get up, I grabbed her arms and held her in place. "Sh-Shadow...! What ar-are yo-" Doing something I never imagined, I pulled her down to me, crashing my lips onto hers.
