Lex sat on their bed, her recent trophy in her hands. She had it wrapped neatly in a fine cloth as she waited for the time to pass by.

Scar polished his weapons, curiously glancing back at her impatient form every once and a while. She hadn't told him what had her so nervous and jittery but assured him it had nothing to do with the hunt days prior.

It had been a successful hunt. One ending with Miana joining them on the hunting ship. Abba met with her a week later, returning Beanie and her belongings. He would no longer be her guardian.

Lex knew it hurt Miana to part ways, but Abba had reassured her he'd call. He would never leave his sister out of the loop.

It's what pushed Lex to finally do this.

Her gauntlet lit up, letting her know she'd be seen now.

"I'm fine." She kissed Scar's arm and left with her package in hand. "This is something I must do. Alone."

The ship felt bigger this time. A never-ending hallway as she tried to make it to the office on time. She had no intention of making him wait or suddenly chickening out.

"Lex," the elder waved her in, a happy purr rumbling from him at the sight of his human daughter. "We could have spoken at the meal rather than here. Something more informal."

She shook her head, hands tightening on the package.

"No, it needed to be private." Like Miana, Lex had made a much greater effort to use Yautja around friends than English.

They considered it a separation from their old life on Earth.

Elder K'ash clicked his mandibles at that, eyeing the large package in her hands. She set it before him and bowed low.

"Thank you, for everything you've done for me and for supporting me." Her words urged him to brush aside the cloth and reveal the kiande amedha skull beneath.

To give skulls as gifts for gratitude wasn't uncommon. More like a norm in their society.

To give a kiande amedha skull as a gift never happened. They were valuable to the holder on levels unimaginable. Most skulls came from the Chiva and acted as proof of their success in becoming Blooded.

"Setg'rath," he purred low and deep, wrapping the skull back in the cloth. "There is no need." He stepped around his desk and cupped her face in one hand. "You have brought me great honor through your many successful hunts and by standing steadfast against those who would see you fall. I should be thanking you."

Elder K'ash took the skull and handed it back to her.

Lex returned to her room, finding it empty as Scar left for the last meal of the day. She hung her trophy on the wall. Her hand rand down the front of it as if nostalgic.

"You are… not here?" Scar questioned her from the doorway.

"H'ko. I am here. Promise." She turned away and gave him a smile. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."

Still, he questioned her, head tilting as she shrugged away his worry.

"Setg'rath…"

"I'sumu." Lex tugged on his loincloth until it gave way and nipped at his chin. "I am here, I assure you. I had a nice chat with Elder K'ash about something and now… I'm hungry."

Scar had become used to the phrase as something more suggestive rather than her actually wanting food.

"Sei-i. Always so demanding." He huffed in fake annoyance and picked her up.

She nipped at his chin again and his fake annoyance melted into a heady purr.

This is very short, but I wanted it to be by itself. More Lex-centric rather than Miana, but we will get back to her next chapter.
