"Calvary Move!" Piper shouted over the sound of gunshots.
Obi-wan ran to a rusty broken down airspeeder and crotched down next to Piper and Rats who had also run to it. They were leaning intently against the airspeeder taking cover.
Obi-wan watched from across the way as Ahsoka did her typical cartwheel to a nearby alleyway. Anakin followed her along with Donovan. Donovan was loading his gun the same as Piper and Rats.
The sound of gunfire stopped for a moment and all three of them moved their bodies out from the safety of their cover to start firing in that direction.
After they fired their shots they all retreated back to their cover.
"Did you get a good look at them?" Piper asked Rats.
"Yeah, I think so. The light is so bright though!"
Piper frowned but looked across the way.
"There's a few assault rifles!" Donovan yelled.
"Okay!" Piper shouted. "Guys we cannot let them get away!" "Otherwise rescuing the troopers is gonna become a lot harder!"
"We need to get behind them!" Obi-wan shouted as he poked his head out for a moment to get a look at them. The sun was shining through the now dispersing fog creating an orange light making the area in front of them so bright Obi-wan could barely see. However, he saw the black outlines of three snipers on top of the rooftops about two blocks down. "They certainly don't want us going that way!" Obi-wan shouted.
"They're using the light from the setting sun as cover!" Rats shouted.
"We could wait then until the sunsets!" Obi-wan shouted.
"No!" Piper yelled. "They are probably sending members to come around and shoot us out." "We need to get behind them as you said!"
"How are we going to do that?" Anakin yelled.
Piper looked at Ahsoka. She remembered how quick and nimble she was when she ran to the bodies on the bridge. An idea sprang to her mind. "Ahsoka!" She shouted. "You and I are going to get behind them. On my mark, we are going to run around the long way." "Anakin, Obi-wan, Rats, and Donovan distract them by storming through the middle!"
"Wait does that mean we are using guns!" Obi-wan stated.
"YES!" Rats yelled.
"Sounds good!" Anakin yelled while Donovan gave him a gun.
Piper shoved a gun into Obi-wan's hands. "Ready!" She shouted.
Ahsoka nodded.
"GO!" Piper shouted.
Ahsoka and Piper quickly began running down the alleyway to climb onto the decaying buildings.
Anakin began shooting at the snipers, he didn't use a blaster much but he still knew how to use one, although this gun was a lot louder and heavier.
Obi-wan, who was a good shot, was trying to resist the cringe he was feeling from using such an uncivilized weapon.
All four of the guys pulled back.
"We need to give them as much cover as we can!" Anakin shouted. "On my mark, let's move to the next alleyway!"
All three of the boys nodded in agreement.
Anakin then began listening, he had noticed that the guns had a pattern of a few moments of straight firing and then they stopped when they were reloading. He began listening then he heard the silence. "GO!" He shouted.
All four of them began sprinting to the next alleyway.
Anakin felt his heart racing. He could barely see, the light was so blinding but it didn't matter he had to get to that alleyway if he didn't it most certainly meant death as he did not have the force.
Finally, he reached the safety of the alley, and just in time as he heard the loud gunshots firing through the air yet again.
"If we can get a block closer to the base of the building Rats and I can smoke them out with our smoke bombs!" Donovan shouted to Anakin. "Our mask will be unaffected from them."
"You sure?" Anakin asked.
"Yeah, that was why Rats and I designed them!"
"Okay!" Anakin shouted and he listened again. "Obi-wan!"
Obi-wan looked over at him. "On my mark, we give Rats and Donovan cover! Once the smoke bombs go off we put on our mask and storm the building!"
Obi-wan nodded.
"Ready!" Rats yelled.
Anakin listened again until he heard the silence. "NOW!"
And then the four began running. Anakin and Obi-wan began shooting at the roof as Rats and Donovan pulled out their bombs. Once they got to the base of the building the two threw the bombs into the abandoned windows.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka was sprinting as fast as she could, she then began climbing a ladder to the top floor of the building. She looked to her left and through the wreckage, she could see Piper on the other side. Piper nodded at her and two began running through the abandoned buildings. Ahsoka jumped over the desk and chairs and made her way to the open window, she would have to jump. Without thinking, Ahsoka forced herself through the window and into the next building. She looked across and still saw Piper. It was strange but Piper seemed to be matching her movements, which was odd considering they could barely see each other.
Ahsoka kept running until finally, she caught sight of the member on the right building, Piper would get the ones on the left building. His white mask, masking his large face. He must have been a Ceran. Ahsoka began running faster and faster as she jumped onto the roof of the building pushing her feet in front of her, kicking the gun out of his hand. The man who was at least two feet taller than her stood up and swung at her with his fist, in which Ahsoka grabbed it and twisted his arm making him scream. She then kicked him in the leg bringing him to the ground. All of a sudden there were two more Calvary members who came out from the door and began shooting at her. Ahsoka immediately did a backflip over the building and hung on to the edge to take cover. The gunfire kept going, but the man stopped to walk to the edge to check if she was still there. That was when Ahsoka swung her body up and kicked the man over the edge. The other man ran up to her but Ahsoka was quick on her feet as she pushed him off the edge as well.
Ahsoka, however, failed to see the man on the ground, who she had taken down first, reached for his glowing blue knife, and slashed Ahsoka's leg with it.
"Ahh!" Ahsoka cried as she fell but she was quick to kick the man. Across the face. He then grabbed her leg and reached for his gun.
A loud bang was heard through the air causing Ahsoka to stop and gaze up to see Piper shooting him in the head. "There's a few more coming." She started helping Ahsoka up, "get ready."
All of a sudden a loud bang was heard from below them and the building shook. Both Ahsoka and Piper got ready all of a sudden four members ran out the door followed by smoke. Before the members could start firing however both Ahsoka and Piper ran to them.
Piper kicked one in the leg and grabbed his arm, making him shoot the other before kicking him to the ground.
Ahsoka feet first jumped to one kicking him in the head pushing him to the ground, she then grabbed the other's arm and threw him to the ground.
Ahsoka and Piper gazed at each other smiling.
"Nice moves kid," Piper stated. "You're pretty tough."
"I could say the same about you." Ahsoka smiled.
Their sweet moment was cut short however as the sound of footsteps was heard beyond the door. Piper lifted her guns while Ahsoka took a fighting stance.
"Will we ever get a break!" Ahsoka shouted.
"That would make it easy!" Piper stated. "And the universe could never allow that!"
The footsteps got louder and louder and louder until four masked figures burst through the smoke.
"Ahhhh!" They all yelled.
"WAIT!" Came the all too familiar voice of Anakin and Obi-wan.
"It's us that don't shoot!" Rats yelled, putting his hands up and pulling his mask off.
Piper smirked, putting her gun down. "Oh thank God!"
All six of them began to relax.
"I was starting to get tired." Ahsoka smiled.
"I think we got all of them." Obi-wan started pulling his mask off.
The group began walking to each other but none of them noticed one of the Calvary who was supposed to be down pulled out a detonator. All of a sudden a loud BANG was heard through the air and the building began to crumble.
"RUN TO THE EDGE!" Obi-wan yelled.
"We never get a break!" Ahsoka yelled as the six began running to jump off the building. Ahsoka, Rats, and Donovan jumped first followed by Piper and Anakin. Obi-wan went to jump but failed to see the Cavalry that grabbed his foot making him fall onto the edge of the building about to fall.
"OBI-WAN!" Anakin yelled.
Piper, however, was quick to act as she turned around and jumped back on the ledge that Obi-wan was holding onto dear life too.
"I need you to trust me!" Piper shouted to Obi-wan as she reached for his hand.
Obi-wan unreluctantly took her hand and then shouted, "I don't have any other choice!"
Piper took hold of his arm and closed her eyes. She then leaned forward as if she was going to fall. That was the last thing Obi-wan saw before darkness took them both.
Captain Rex awoke to the clicking of a pen. He slowly and painfully opened his dry eyes to see a dark figure standing in front of him. The figure was slowly but surely clicking a pen.
For the two and a half days the Cavalry had been torching Rex and his men for information. Information about the war, the Jedi, about their Chancellor.
What surprised Rex, however, wasn't the fact that they were being tortured it was how they were being tortured. The only torture that Rex had ever experienced was being suspended mid-air and electrocuted. Never did he think that there could be torcher worse than that. The Cavalry had their way of torturing them. The moment they got to the base, the Calvary asked about the Jedi, who they were, and what were their names. Of course, none of the troopers talked. So the Calvary stripped each of them of their armor, and then strapped each of them to a board and placed a cloth over their head. Rex remembers thinking. What are they going to do? Massage us til we talk.
But they didn't, instead, the Calvary took a hose and let the water from it hit each of their faces. At first nothing, but slowly the water became more and more intense and all of a sudden it felt as if they were drowning. This was worse than electrocution. Every single one of them cracked.
When the clones said each other their names, Phoenix popped up at the name Anakin Skywalker.
"So the Jedi found their supposed Chosen one." Phoenix had said.
After more torture and pain, Rex was taken to a room away from his men. His men were left in a cell, which actually relieved Rex a little. Maybe they can get some rest.
Now Rex was tied down to a table that was tilted to a standing position facing the man that was in charge.
"I just got intel from some of my scouts, that I think you would be interested in hearing. You know that the Jedi are coming for you right?" Phoenix stated.
"Yes," Rex said. He had no doubt in his mind that the General would come looking for him. Rex watched Phoenix as he turned around and for the first time he noticed how his legs looked very heavy. Phoenix smiled an eerie smile. Why was he smiling? Rex thought to himself confused and concerned about what was going to happen.
"I wanted to thank you personally," Phoenix said. "I will admit, I was a little skeptical of your usefulness, but now I see you are of great use."
Rex cocked an eyebrow.
"I assure you, you are," Phoenix stated. "Do you know what I did to your friend Red?"
"Murder him." Rex gritted.
"Haha." Phoenix chuckled to himself a little. "Some would call it that." "What I did was absurd, his force signature." "You see all living things as a force signature. Jedi, all types of them, have stronger force signatures than most. That is why they can do extraordinary things. Sith tends to have very strong signatures."
"Now, something I am sure you are not aware of is that there is a Sith guarding your republic, if I am to take back the Republic, once we get off this planet, I will need to defeat him. Unfortunately, I do not have a strong enough signature yet. But luckily you brought Jedi, just as I planned you would."
"Planned?" Rex asked.
"Why yes of course." Phoenix smiled. "Who do you think sent the transmission to Coruscant." "It wasn't the local law enforcement." "What I didn't plan though, was that you would bring the most powerful Jedi with the strongest force signature ever."
Rex's eyes widened. "Oh no." He muttered.
"And not only did you bring him, but you brought his Master and his apprentice. I can use them to get to him."
Rex was distraught. His friends were walking into a trap. "General Skywalker is more powerful than you know!"
"Oh yes, I am sure he is. Trust me, Captain, I am hoping for it." Phoenix smiled. "Most of my scouts died, but they did manage to inject one of your friends with tracking liquid. Like this!" Phoenix held out a blue glowing knife.
"YOU WILL NEVER WIN!" Rex was angry now.
"Oh but I already have Captain," Phoenix stated as he walked out the door. Before he left however he turned around and glared at Rex. "Tell me, Rex, are you aware that you have a metal chip in your head?"
Rex gave him a blank look.
"No, that's what I thought," Phoenix said. "I'm sure the chancellor had his reasons for inserting it though."
And then Phoenix left, leaving Rex speechless.
