As the Dark Angel fleet prepared to bombard the xenos temple, one of the Astartes spoke up. He asked the captain a simple question, "Why are we doing this?" The captain looked at him like he was an idiot, "You know as well as I that we must regain the glory and honor stolen from us by the rebellion of Luther." The Astarte then asked, "But what is honorable about not only destroying a foe from orbit but stealing the victory from another force?" The captain was now angered and yelled, "Do you dare question the will of the King of Caliban?" The Astarte was cowed and said, "No." The commander was satisfied and pushed the button saying "For the glory of the Lion".

Fulgrim was in the midst of giving his troops a grand speech, decarling themselves superior to the xenos and that soon the glory would be theirs. He turned and raised Fireblade, letting loose the warcry of there legion, "Children of the Emperor." However he was interrupted by missiles utterly anhiliating the temple. His jaw dropped, and if this were a cartoon then a "Wah-wah-wah" would have played in the background. Fulgrim then looked up and saw the Dark Angel ships, and started to rant and rave. For a half hour constantly decryed the Dark Angels as egomaniacal fools who couldn't keep there own planet loyal, about how it was his victory they stole, of them being glory hounds. After the half hour he had tired himself out, and decided to complain to Horus.

In the warp a Daemon of Slannesh was running. It had failed in its mission, and the only reason it wasn't being tortured was because Slannesh was busy torturing the Laer. Ever since the Anathema took his birthright on Molech Slannesh had marked Fulgrim as hers. He was very attractive, and Slannesh wanted him. The Daemon had a simple job, let itself be bound by the Laer to a blade. Fulgrim would exterminate the Laer, and would pick up the blade. He would be corrupted and the Daemon would put Fulgrims soul in a painting after Fulgrim decapitated Ferrus Manus. The Daemon would have the power of a god, but those glory hound knight wannabees screwed it all up. And once Slannesh was done with the Laer, the Daemon was next. So the Daemon fled to the one place that would put it beyond Slannesh's reach. It would swear itself to the Masters of the Forge, renouncing all loyalty to Slannesh in the process.
