Thank you all for all the support so far! I really appreciate it, and this story is surprisingly one of the few stories I've written that isn't a crossover. So I guess with the entire country on lock down, I now have more time to write. Although I still have classes that are now online.
I hope everyone is staying safe, and keeping themselves healthy.
And to answer some reviews:
pokemonking0924: Thanks, yeah he is going to have an influence on her, and their relationship will grow over time. And thanks for the suggestions.
pandawok301: I'm not planning on using that one, sorry.
Also, I added Sumerian Gods to list, and one of them is in this chapter.
I own none of the content and I hope you all enjoy!
"So, how's the princess today, huh?"
Cana gave Jackson a glare and said," Shut up."
Jackson ended up laughing.
It was a couple weeks after Cana told Gildarts. The new family spent time together, and Gildarts pretty much made up for lost time, and treated Cana like a princess. Jackson found it totally amusing, due to knowing Cana was getting annoyed by Gildarts. Even though she still loved the Crush Mage.
She even wanted to change her last name to Clive. But decided on hyphenating it with her full name being, Cana Alberona Clive.
And after getting to know her father. Especially getting to know the person, instead of the Fairy Tail Ace the rest of the Guild knew some of him as. Cana had wanted to learn her father's magic, on top of her regular magic. And Gildarts was happy to train her, even though he warned her that training would be hard, and
"So, is Gildarts going to teach you his Crush Magic?"
"Yeah, he's preparing some supplies. Apparently he's going to teach me somewhere near the mountains, due to the wide space, and open areas that could only have rocks and trees everywhere. Just think, maybe in a couple of years I'll become an S-Class Mage. And I'll leave you in the dust."
"Naw, in any case, I'm going to become S-Class first, and I'll leave you in the dust. Just like my parents." Jackson said.
Both of Jackson's parents were S-Class Mages like Gildarts. Except they didn't take the really long jobs like the Crush Mage did. His mom become one first, and then his dad did the next time the Trials were held. Due to that, he was hoping to become strong, and be able to become an S-Class mage like them. And to hopefully go on the more interesting jobs they took once in a while.
Cana's response was push the chair he was on, and due to not being prepared, he fell off.
Cana laughed while Jackson got back up and gave her an unamused look," Dirty move."
"Hey, your opponent isn't going to fight fair." Cana said with a shrug.
Jackson then looked at her sadly and said," But I am going to miss ya. Even though it's only going to be a month or two."
Cana placed hand on her friends shoulder and said," I'll be back before you know it. And maybe I'll show you some new moves or spells I learn."
"Heh, probably not a good idea. You'll crush me with the magic you learn." Jackson joked
Even though it was such a bad joke, Cana couldn't help but giggle. This made Jackson feel weird for some reason he couldn't figure out, but shrugged it off.
"Hey, can one of you show me where the Master of this guild is?" A young voice said.
The both of them turned around to see a boy their age, who had a backpack on. He looked to be the same height as them, and had spiky black hair. He a white winter coat with orange fur around the collar, that was open. And he had a plain blue shirt with blue jeans, and brown shoes. And he ad silver cross necklace around his neck.
But for some reason, it felt like the room became slightly chilly.
"Yeah, he's sitting at the bar over there. He's wearing the silly hat. Did you come here to join the guild? Also, what's your name" Jackson asked.
He was thrilled that there was someone else their age that might join the guild. The closets one to their age was the master's grandson, Laxus Dreyar, who specialized in Lightening Magic. But he didn't really bother to hang out with them.
He just kept to himself and listened to his music, or hung out with his friends, who they all made up the team, The Thunder Legion.
"Thanks. My name is Gray Fullbuster, and I'm not looking to join." He simply said, but he looked like he had something on his mind.
He walked off, and both Jackson and Cana shrugged at what he said.
Makarov listened to the young man, Gray Fullbuster's, plea. His heart went out to the boy. But even he knew rescuing anyone from the Ice Shell Spell was futile. He did know of one way, but it wasn't a guarantee or possible it would work.
"I am familiar with the Iced Shell. It is a spell that Ice Make Wizards use. If I remember correctly, the spell is based on the caster's will, and it allows their body to mold into ice. But I'm afraid there is no other way to save your master. No other type of magic can help."
"What?! Your telling me with all the strong wizards you got, you can't break the spell?"
"Is there is one way, but I'm afraid it's a bad idea. And the result will be the death of your master. I'm sorry." Makarov apologized.
Gray's face fell, he came all this way, and found out he there wasn't any way to save Ur. What was he going to do now?
"But, you can't lose hope. I understand and can tell that you've been through a lot. Tell me, why are you asking about anyway to break the Ice Shell?"
Gray looked guilty and said and said," My master's name was Ur. She helped me after a demon killed my family and where I live. She even taught me Ice Make Magic. But, I was so consumed by avenging my family that I tried to attack Deliora. Ur sacrificed herself to save me. So I'm trying to repay her by saving her."
Makarov got down the bar, placed his hand on Gray's shoulder and said," Gray, I can see that you've been through tremendous loss. With the most recent one being the unfortunate death of your master. But, her sacrifice wasn't in vain. She did so, so you can live on and continue your life. And I believe you can do that by joining my Guild, and make new friends and possibly family. I believe that's what she and your family would've wanted."
Gray sniffed, and wiped a couple of tears, and said," I'm not sure I deserve this."
Makarov gave him a small smile and said," I believe you do. And I also believe that Jackson and Cana believe so too."
Gray turned around to see Jackson and Cana standing behind him. They both gave him sad but encouraging smiles. They had decided to listen in Gray's conversation with the master. Even though they knew listening to private things was frowned upon, but they felt it was a good idea.
"Master is right, you deserve to live your life. My mom passed away, but I know she would want me to continue on." Cana said.
"Yeah, I can't understand about losing one's parents. But, I think joining the guild will be a good thing. And you have the two of us to help you along the way. Consider us your friends." Jackson said with a smile.
"Yeah, and also, it was getting kind of boring with only having this loser. Him and I are the only younger kids in the Guild." Cana said.
"Yeah… hey!" Jackson exclaimed.
Gray chuckled, feeling better and said," Yeah, I think I will."
"That's great… what did you do to your clothes?!" Jackson yelped.
Gray looked down, he yelped when he saw them on the ground and said," Oh come on!"
Cana was blushing, and then had her eyes shielded by Jackson. She mumbled a thanks.
Makarov had a feeling that Gray was going to be an interesting addition to Fairy Tail. And he also had no doubt that Jackson and Cana would be by his side.
Iden and Hal walked back into the guild after completing another mission. They had taken out another dark guild, and it felt like they were popping out all over the place. Everyone knew about the Balam Alliance, but they weren't causing a big enough issue to warrant the Magic Council's concern.
But Master Makarov and the other Guild Masters forbade them from trying to attack them, but were ok with taking out smaller Dark Guilds.
"So, when do you think we should take Jacks on some more interesting jobs?" Iden asked.
It was a topic that the married couple having been thinking about.
"Honestly, if we feel like he's ready. But, I think he can do it, and maybe we'll take Cana along with us. Pretty sure Gildarts wouldn't mind. Considering he's going to take her on a little training excursion soon. Still can't believe that Cana was his daughter. And then Jackson asked you if you two ever dated." Hal said the last part with a chuckle.
"Sometimes I wonder if leaving Jackson alone with everyone else at the guild is a bad idea. Especially with all the lewd comments some of them make about women sometimes. Also, the only time something happened between me and Gildarts was during a Christmas party. That mistletoe wasn't there earlier. And if I find the wise guy who did it, then I have a couple of spirits I would like to sick on them."
Hal gulped as he could feel the dark aura coming off of his wife. Normally he would proud of his wife assertiveness and also find it sexy. But considering he was the one who pulled the joke, he wasn't planning on getting his ass kicked or worse anytime soon.
"That's why I love you. Your violence is very interesting." Hal covered, as they opened the doors to the guild.
"Ice Make: Lance!"
The both of them had to duck when an Ice Lance came soaring at them. Once they looked up, they saw everyone crowding around a kid who looked to be Jackson and Cana's age.
"My bad." The kid sheepishly said.
"Hey mom and dad!" Jackson said.
"Sorry about that, Iden and Hal. Gray was just showing us his magic. He's a Ice Make Wizard." Cana said.
Makarov had a visible tick mark on his head and yelled," What did I tell you kids! When using your magic, go outside! You almost impaled two of our members!"
"Well on least on the bright side we have someone able to make our drinks cold." Macao joked.
"Good thing our reflexes are still tuned to possibly someone trying to kill us." Hal quipped.
"Nothing's ever normal in this guild." Iden said with sigh.
Hal shrugged, and said," True, but that just adds to the charm, and it's identity."
"Hey mom, dad, come meet our newest member, and Cana and I's new friend." Jackson said.
Gray did a lazy wave and said," Hey."
Hal blinked, and uncertainly said," Uh, where are your clothes?"
Gray looked down, yelped, and said," A dang' it!"
"Is this going to be a regular thing with you?" Cana asked, annoyed.
Iden couldn't help but sigh, even though the guild wasn't normal. She was happy to be a part of all of this.
(A couple of days later)
Hal, Iden, Jackson, Cana, and Gray walked down a road, the three young kids looked excited. While the adults had visible amusement with how they looked.
"So, what's the job again?" Cana asked.
"Just some bandits causing a ruckus at a nearby town. What, did you kids think we would let you take on demons or a dark guild?" Hal asked.
Gray visibly shivered at the mention of the word demon. But Iden placed a comforting hand on the Ice Make Wizards shoulder, and he nodded in thanks.
Gray had warmed up to everyone in the Guild, and had become fast friends with Jackson and Cana. He had also participated in some the brawls the guild was known was for. When Gray had asked why Jackson doesn't, he said he wasn't much into it, but will only do so if necessary, while Cana was in the same boat.
Gray was also still saddened by what had happened to him, but like how Master Makarov told him, everyone in the guild looked out for one another. Mainly Jackson and Cana hung out with him.
The whole stripping thing was still weird, but everyone was surprisingly getting used to it, due to realizing it was going to be a regular thing.
And Jackson had asked his parents if Gray could come along with them to jobs. They didn't see a problem with that. And after thinking about it more, and consulting with Makarov and Gildarts, they decided both Jackson and Cana, and including Gray, could go on higher level jobs.
They were thrilled, but groaned when they found out they had to have an adult with them for their first one to see how they would do.
So here was the group now, going after a group of bandits that was terrorizing a town. And the road they were taking was a favorite road for the bandits to use. Luckily for them, they were a forest near it, so they decided to walk alongside it, due to the person who had asked for help, said there was a clearing nearby that the bandits probably used for their camp.
"So here are some ground rules, you stay close to us. And if it looks like things are going south, you have to get out and let us handle it. Got it?" Iden said.
"Got it." The three of them said.
They then heard talking nearby, and Hal made a hand gesture for them to go into the woods. Once they did, they saw that another clearing was nearby. They all walked over to it, but stopped far enough that they wouldn't be seen.
Hal looked out and saw that a group of bandits, which liked about a dozen or more, were camped out there.
"Ok, Iden and I will go first, then you kids come out once we give out the signal… where's Gray?"
The remaining three looked around once they realized the Ice Make wizard was missing.
"Hey, jerks!" A familiar voice yelled.
"Idiot." Cana muttered.
Gray had walked out of the clearing, and stood in front of the bandits. The bandits all stopped what they were doing, and were surprised to see a young kid.
"You think you can just take what you want from helpless people? Then you got another thing coming!"
Everyone at the camp was silent for a moment, but they then all laughed. The one, who was probably the leader, got up from his seat and gave Gray a taunting look.
"Oh, and how are you going to do that, kid? Ask your mommy for your help?" He said and laughed again along with his goons.
"Like this. Ice Make: Lance!" Gray said as he held out his hands.
A couple of frozen lances appeared from his hands, and shot out at the bandits. A couple managed to dodge, while a few unlucky ones were knocked down to the ground.
"You little shit!" The leader roared as he brought out his sword, and charged, with his goons going after him.
"Ring Enhancer: Fire Torrent!" Hal yelled as he ran out of the forest.
He held his hands, with his fire ring glowing. And a torrent of fire came out, and some of the bandits were left burned and unconscious.
The other three ran out of the forest, Cana had a couple of cards in hand. While Jackson and Iden had Titanium keys in their hands. Iden's had a picture of fives leaves with three flowers on the top, and it was painted blue. While Jackson's had the symbol or picture of a bull and lion, which was painted black.
"Cards Volley!" Cana yelled as she threw a couple of cards at them.
The cards light up and exploded when they hit the ground. This caused some of the bandits to fall on their backs, and come disoriented.
"Open, Gate of the female Samurai: Tomoe Gozen!" Iden said as she held out her Key.
"Open, Gate of the first hero: Gilgamesh!" Jackson said he held out his own Titanium Key.
Both keys shined and two people came out of a puff of clouds. The first person was a woman of Asian features, who looked to be in her late twenties, and was strikingly beautiful. She had black hair, green eyes and was faired skinned, but she wore a little makeup. She wore female Samurai armor, with a sword on her left hip, a bow and cache of arrows on her back.
She was holding a Naginata in her right hand, and then held a defensive stance.
The last person was a man who was largely built, and had black hair and a long black beard. He wore a lightly armored tunic that was gold, blue and red and wore sandals. He also had a helmet on his head that looked like a crown.
He cracked his knuckles, and gave off an aura of confidence.
The bandits stopped, and it looked like they were becoming worried.
"Tomoe, you know what to do." Iden said.
"Gilgamesh, have it, buddy." Jackson said.
Tomoe turned around, bowed and said in an accent," As you command, M'lady."
"Heh, thanks Jacks. I'm looking forward to this. Ladies first."
A helmet appeared on Tomoe's head, and she immediately charged. Three bandits charged at her. She blocked their strikes, and once she pushed them back, she gave them firms glares.
"It is dishonorable to steal from the helpless. For that, you must pay." With a battle cry, she drove her weapon into the earth.
A powerful shockwave came out of the earth, and the bandits were hit by it, and they all fell back to earth unconscious.
Gilgamesh's fists started to glow, and he charged at his opponents and punched one hard. This caused him to fly back and hit his buddies.
"Heh, they weren't so tough. Nice job, Tomoe." He said and held his hand up for a high five.
Tomoe glanced at him, but did nothing. Gilgamesh rolled his eyes, but he still had a grin on his face.
The leader, and a couple of his men who weren't unconscious, stood in front of Gray and Hal.
"Just who do you think you are? Coming here, and attacking us?" The leader said.
"We're members of Fairy Tail. And we were told to stop you guys." Hal coolly said.
One of the thugs looked worried and said," Hey boss, he's right, he's got the Guild Mark on his left shoulder."
The leader didn't look worried, but said," Who cares, you idiot. Take' em!"
"Hang on, Mr. Wren, I got this. Ice Make: Hammer!"
A shadow appeared above the remaining bandits. They all looked up and screamed in terror before a giant ice hammer slammed into them. Once the dust cleared, there were some moans of pain coming from below the hammer.
Once the ice shattered, it was shown that the bandits were crushed into the ground, and they all had swirls in their eyes.
Gray grinned and jumped, and shouted in triumph.
"Oh man, we sure did kick their-"
Before he could finish, a sharp pain went through his ear, due to someone pulling it. Gray turned around, and visibly paled when he saw the very pissed off face of Iden Wren. She was giving off a very bad aura.
Jackson and Cana were shaking in fear, while Hal was scared, but he was also trying to give Gray a disapproving look.
"You and I are going to have a talk about running head first into danger." She said, in a very scary voice.
"Ahhhhh!" Gray screamed as he was dragged to the woods, so she could yell at him in private.
Jackson and Cana felt sorry for their friend, but were glad they weren't on the receiving end of Iden's wrath. Jackson knew his mother could a kind and caring woman, but if he knew that if anyone crossed her, then she could be a really scary individual.
"Would you like me to help with your punishment, M'lady?" Tomoe asked.
Iden turned around, and gave Tomoe a grateful look and said," No need, you may go home now. And thanks for the help."
Tomoe bowed and disappeared. And Iden continued to drag a kicking Gray.
Gilgamesh whistled and said,"What a woman. You sure picked a great woman, Hal. If you don't need me anymore Jacks, then I'll take my leave. See ya." He said and disappeared.
"So, how are we going to get all these guys back to town?" Jackson asked.
Hal thought about it and said," Good question. Maybe we'll ask your mother once she's done."
A couple of minutes later, Iden and a very scared Gray walked out of the forest. It turned out, that all they needed to do was let the village know, and they would get the authorities to handle them.
The reward was 5,000 Jewels, so the amount was split evenly.
As the group walked to the nearest train station, Gray looked at Jackson and said," Your mom is scary."
Jackson sweat dropped and said," Yeah, she can be terrifying, but she means well. My grandfather told me my grandmother was the same thing. I take it she scared your pants off?"
"What does… ah crap!" Gray said as he realized he was in his underwear.
(A couple of days later)
Cana stood outside the guild with a traveling bag on her back, while Jackson stood in front of her. Gildarts was standing nearby with a fond look on his face. While Gray, Iden, Hal and Makarov stood nearby.
"Stay safe out there. And tell me all about what you and Gildarts did out there." Jackson said.
"I will, and also, you have Gray to keep you company now. Even though I'm sorta worried on what kind of mischief you both will get into." Cana worried.
"Start a couple of brawls, and maybe some property damage. Basically what Fairy Tail is good at." Jackson said with a cheeky grin.
Makarov felt a bead of sweat go down his face, he knew the boy was joking, but it still caused him some anxiety.
Cana giggled, she pulled out a card, handed it to him and said," This is a Call Card. It's specifically made to call me anywhere, while I have the other one that will be able to call you. Well, when I'm probably not being trained to the bone."
"C'mon, princess, we have to go now." Gildarts said.
Cana nodded and said," Well, I'll see you soon."
"Yeah, see you later."
Cana then thought of something, she didn't know why, but for some reason she decided to do it.
To the immense shock of everyone present, including Jackson, Cana leaned in and kissed his cheek.
Once she finished she had was blushing like crazy, and robotically turned around and started walking off.
"C'mon, old man." She said.
Gildarts stopped looking as if someone punched him in the gut. He narrowed his eyes at Jackson, and then walked off.
Jackson meanwhile had a small nosebleed, had steam coming out of his ears, and his face was completely red.
"Okay… wasn't expecting that. You okay, dude?" Gray asked.
Jackson's response was to fall to the ground, and Gray yelped in surprise.
"I need a really big drink." Hal said.
"That was so adorable!" Iden squealed.
Makarov chuckled and said," It seems I now have some more money."
"What was that Master?" Iden said, with raised eyebrow.
"Nothing!"
Gray has now joined. And Jackson and Cana's relationship has changed a little.
Tomoe Gozen was a female Samurai who was a part of the Minamoto Clan and fought during the Genpei War (1180-1185) in Japan.
Gilgamesh is considered one of the first heroes in Mythology. He was a King of Ancient Sumeria, and was first introduced in 'The Epic of Gilgamesh'
Till next time.
