Can't believe it took me this long to write a new chapter, but eh, life and other things get in the way.

The focus of this chapter is going to be Cana's S-Class trials, and some important revelations. Like I said before, I'm not the best at fight scenes, so bare with me. Also, I'm only going to focus on Cana's first trial, and then go on to a different part of the story.

Thank you all for reading and finding this interesting.

I own none of the content. Please enjoy.

(X779)

Cana watched the waves go up and down, and the sounds of the ocean seemed to make her relax. The now 13 year old Mage was happy that she was able to participate in the Trials. But unfortunately, the heat was pretty unbearable that it made her not enjoy it one bit. The others, who had been eligible to partake in the S-Class Trials as well, were feeling the same thing. She had packed her winter clothes, because well, it was already December, but she guessed the route to Tenrou Island didn't get the message. Thank goodness she listened to her dad about packing summer clothes, or else she would've died of heatstroke by now.

Hal sat down next to her, and gave her some water, which she practically gulped down.

"Why in the hell does Tenrou Island have to be way out here? It's feels like a desert, minus the sand." Cana grumbled.

Gildarts, who had a beer in his hand, sat next to his daughter and said, "Well sweetie, the trials aren't always held on Tenrou Island. They can be held in other places. But the old man feels its our duty as Fairy Tail members to honor our First Master, and hold the trials there as much as possible."

"So, how come Jacks or maybe Raven couldn't come along?"

"Jackson wasn't picked, and Raven… I guess you can pick her, if we were doing partner trials this time. The rules stated that you can pick anyone from the guild to be your partner, so I guess either her or Happy would count." Hal said, with him saying the last part, as if he just figured something out.

Cana nodded, and looked out into the ocean again.

It had been a year since Happy and Raven had hatched. The shock and surprise of two flying, talking cats joining the guild had lost its fanfare, and everyone became used to them. Natsu, Lisanna, Jackson, and Cana took care of their respective cats. Lisanna had teased about them being happy families, but Jackson and Cana weren't amused by it, except for Natsu, who was used to the way Lisanna viewed the situation, so his was slight indifference or played along with it.

Happy was nice, he viewed Natsu and Lisanna as older siblings, and was quick to agree or do whatever Natsu or Lisanna did. And he had one heck of quick witted and cheeky personality for a cat. He also had a love for fish, and had the tendency to say 'Aye' or 'Aye Sir', as if it was his catchphrase.

While Raven was sweetheart, although she had mischievous side, and had the same sense of humor as Happy, who was like a brother to her. She always found herself hanging around Jackson or Cana. While for Iden and Hal, she had a tendency to cheekily call them grams and gramps, which they didn't find amusing, but still viewed her like family, which she was. She also acquired the love for Strawberries, which put her at odds with Erza sometimes, due to her always swiping some from her cake, or when she was snacking on the fruit. Erza would always get mad, but didn't try to harm her, Jackson had teased her that she had a soft spot for the cat, which she denied.

No one didn't really look into what Happy and Raven were though. Considering, they were harmless, and thought it was just something related to magic.

Now, Cana had gotten chosen to be a part of the S-Class Trials, she was actually one of the few younger guild members who had been chosen throughout the trials history. The ones who could've gone were Erza and Mirajane, but they both felt they weren't ready yet, but said they would be soon. Cana didn't dare to think what damage the two of them would do if they fought each other, or someone else during their trials.

But Cana had been training with her dad, when he wasn't on one of his long quests. Or Hal, who was asked by Gildarts to help train her when he wasn't around.

So she felt she was ready, and was actually the few who didn't need to go on a whole lot of jobs to prove she was eligible to be picked. She was glad that Master Makarov saw how hard she trained, and felt she was ready.

The only other person she recognized who got picked was Macao, and Reedus.

She was pretty bummed that Jackson wasn't picked though. With the way he was using his magic, and who his parents were, he would be shoo-in for the S-Class trials. But he had told her what he had told Makarov a while back. He wanted to be a part of the trials when he was ready, not because of who his parents are. So he didn't want any help from Iden and Hal, and would join the trials on his own power. Cana thought that was dumb, but once she thought about it, it made sense. Laxus, who had become an S-Class last year, was in the same situation as Jackson. Both had family members in the guild, and neither was given special privileges because of it, mainly Laxus, due to his grandfather being the Guild Master. Laxus had to work twice as hard to get where he was now, and Jackson was the same. The same was for her, she didn't have special privileges because her father was one of the most powerful members of the guild.

Although, that one thing they had in common didn't build a friendship with Laxus, and them. From the looks of it, he didn't much care about them, and the other younger members, or the other members in general.

It got on her nerves that he had an ego, but she decided to not let it get to her.

"Wasn't Iden supposed to be here? Jackson said she had to stay, while you came here because of something involving Iden. What was it?" Gildarts asked, as he took a sip from his drink.

Hal grinned and said," Well, Iden felt it was the right thing to do, considering she's pregnant."

Gildarts almost spat out his drink, he cleared his throat, and said," Really, I would say congratulations, but I've seen her when she was pregnant with Jackson." He said with a shutter.

Hal glared at him, while Cana wasn't sure what her father meant, but she was excited for her best friend. If anyone deserved a sibling, it was Jackson, she knew he would watch out, and take care of his little sister or brother. He had told her before the ship for Tenrou left, and she was super excited about it as well.

"Have you told the kid yet? Who else have you told?" Gildarts asked.

"Oh he knows, and it isn't a surprise your kid knows as well. Sato also knows. We're planning on telling everyone once we get back, or later on." Hal explained.

Gildarts gave his friend a grin and said," Well, congrats then. Besides Iden, I know Jacks would protective of his little sibling."

"Which is something that the Wren's are good at, protecting their family. I'm sorry for interrupting, but I overheard you all talking. Hal, let me say congratulations, and that your future child will also be welcomed in the guild." Makarov said as he walked over to him.

"Thank you Master. It was something we've talked about for a while, and here we are." Hal said.

"Yes, you stopped talking, and went right down to business, so to speak." Makarov said with a chuckle, and Gildarts snickered.

Hal groaned, and said," I am so glad Iden isn't here. Cause she would kick both of you in areas where you wish you wouldn't be kicked. Also Cana, just forget what their saying."

Cana shrugged without a care, and said," With how long I've with the guild, this is tame. I've heard worse."

'I wonder if Lamia Scale or Blue Pegasus are hoping for new members.' Hal thought in exasperation.

Makarov looked out at sea, hoping to get the thought of Iden potentially harming him, out of his head. He saw something come from the horizon, and he had a pleased look.

"Well, looks like we're approaching our destination, and ahead of schedule as well." Makarov said.

Cana leaned over the railing to see an island… that had a very huge tree, and rock formation coming over the horizon. She was in awe of it, and she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at Gildarts, who was also looking at the island.

"Welcome to Fairy Tail's sacred land, resting place of our first master, sweetie. Tenrou Island."

It had already been a day since the S-Class candidates went off to Tenrou Island. Jackson was at the guild with the others, Raven and Happy were sitting with them as well, with the former eating Strawberry's, and the latter eating a fish. Iden was in town running some errands, and would be back soon. Erza had also gone with her, she had wanted some tips on and pointers about the trials, because she felt she had a good handle on her magic, and hoped to be chosen for the next trial date.

He was still super excited he was going to be a big brother. He was pretty shocked when his parents told him. But he was happy nonetheless, and when he was given the okay to tell Cana, he actually went straight to the guild, and told her in private. The others were suspicious of why he was acting odd, but luckily, they came with the cover story of how excited the both of them were that Cana was going to trials that day.

And luckily, they bought it.

"So, how long do these trials last for again?" Natsu asked.

Jackson thought about it, shrugged, and said," Not sure, depending on where they go, it could last a day or two."

Natsu looked smug and said," Well, when I take the trials, I'll make it to S-Class, that's a guarantee."

Gray snorted and said," Ya sure, flame brain, like that will happen. Cause I'm going to make it S-Class first, before you."

Natsu gave him a taunting look, and said," Yeah, like Makarov will ever let a stripper become an S-Class Mage."

"C'mon guys, get real, I'm become one before you two do. Right, Raven?" Jackson said.

Raven glanced at her surrogate father, and said," I guess."

Gray and Natsu snickered, while Jackson glared at them. He didn't give one to Raven, due to knowing why she was acting strange.

Lisanna gave the cat a sympathetic look and said," You miss Cana, don't you, Raven?"

The young cat nodded, and said," I wish I could've gone with her, and both gramps. But grams said I can't. I hope to go when Jackson get's chosen."

"From what Iden told me, it could happen if they do the trials with partners involved. I think you can team up with Jacks then." Lisanna explained.

Raven perked up, and said," Yeah! I can definitely be a great partner. Can I be if that happens, Jackson? Please?" She asked, and did her best pout.

Jackson was going to say yes, and even if he thought otherwise, he could never say no when Raven pouted him. It was her go to strategy to avoid getting into trouble, and getting her way. The former was how she got away with swiping Strawberries from Erza.

"You don't have to pout, I was going to say yes."

Raven smiled brightly, and hugged him. Jackson noticed that Mirajane and Lisanna were gushing at them, probably how cute that looked.

Natsu saw the whole thing, and that made him think. He then looked at Happy, and said," What do you say, little buddy? Do you want to be my partner when I get selected?"

"Aye sir!" Happy said with nod.

Mirajane scoffed, and said," Please, my training with Master Makarov has made me a prime candidate for S-Class. So, I suggest you all get ready for your stay at the hospital once I'm done taking you all down."

"Oh, boy." Elfman gulped.

Jackson thought about it, and said," If it wouldn't be me, ice head, or flame brain. Then I would say either you or Erza are good contenders, Mira."

Mirajane smirked smugly and said," See, even spirit boy believes I can do it. Thanks, Jacks."

"Y'know, I actually hope that Cana does make it to S-Class, she's been at the guild the longest, besides Jackson. And she has her Crash Magic from her dad, so she will do it." Lisanna said.

The others agreed, while Natsu agreed a little begrudgingly. Jackson merely nodded, he didn't have any doubt that his best friend will pass, but his mind became preoccupied with something else.

'I wonder if it's going to be boy or girl.' He thought.

"Hey Jacks, your listening?"

Jackson blinked, and looked to see everyone looking at him.

"Huh?"

Gray rolled his eyes, and said," I was asking what if Gramps picked you for S-Class Trials next year, and how would you do your trials. But apparently you're off on dream land, four eyes."

"He's probably thinking about how Cana's doing." Lisanna suggested.

Mirajane snickered and teased," He's always thinking about her. Ugh, I say just stick them in a closet, and then they'll be a couple."

Before Jackson could even argue that, Natsu scratched his head, and said," Wait; is that how couples are made?"

Everyone gave him looks of confusion, except for Lisanna, who was giggling. Gray then laughed at him but it was out of making fun of him, instead of it being funny, like Lisanna. Mirajane, unsurprisingly, followed along with the Ice Make Mage.

"Yeah, your right flame brain. That's how Jackson's parents got together. And that's how him and Cana will as well." Gray sarcastically said.

"Idiot." Mira snickered.

No one noticed the miffed look Jackson had, except Raven, who was giving him a concerned look.

Natsu took offense to their remarks, so he got on top of the table, with his fists alight, and proclaimed," Oh yeah! Well fight me, and you'll see who the idiot is!"

Before they could take them up on his offer, most likely Gray would. A hand came, and punched Natsu into the table, and a sizable bump was already forming on his head. No needed to guess who it was who did it.

Erza gave the Dragon Slayer user a disappointed look, and said," What did I say about instigating fights, Natsu."

Jackson, even though he was still little bit angry, couldn't help but think she was being a hypocrite, considering either she or Mira would start fights with each other.

Iden was behind Erza, she sighed and said," That boy."

Before she could say anything else, she felt a tugging on her jeans. She looked down to see Raven, and she pointed at a certain direction. She looked at what she was pointing at, and immediately got concerned when she saw her son have a very annoyed look. Granted, she knew that her son never got angry, only on rare occasions he did, and this was one of them. So she nodded at the talking cat, and used her finger to point for outside. Raven got the message, walked over to Jackson, and tapped him on his shoulder. He looked at her, and then at his mom, once Raven pointed in her direction. Luckily, the kids were distracted by Erza to notice the three of them walk out of the guild. It was lightly snowing outside, which gave the surrounding area a calming feel, it helped that Christmas was around the corner, and everyone was in high spirits. For both the holiday, and for the New Year.

Iden led her silent son, and cat, to a nearby bench that was next to one of the canals that was close to the guild. Once there, she patted the seat next to her, and her son sat down, while Raven sat on Iden's lap. Iden scratched her behind the ear, and heard Raven's cute little purr. She also allowed herself a moment to admire Raven's outfit, she wore a scarf, and cute little knitted hat that she made for her when it first started to get cold.

After that, she looked at Jackson, and said," So, what's on your mind, kiddo?"

Jackson didn't respond at first, and Iden was worried that the whole teenager phase had started. Teenager... even though it had been a couple of months, her little boy was growing up.

"Uh mom, you're making a face." Jackson said in a slightly worried tone.

"She's just worried that she's getting old." Raven said with a cheeky look.

Iden gave the cat, which she considered family, a flat look, and said," Very funny, young lady. I'm fine sweetie, but, I want to know what's wrong with you. I'm just hoping you won't close off on your father and me."

Jackson wasn't sure what she meant, he was pretty open with his parents, so he couldn't remember the last time he did that. He then caught onto to what she said about asking what was wrong about him.

Jackson shrugged, and said," They were making the usual jokes about Cana and me, so nothing new. And also they were talking about who could be potentially picked for S-Class next year. I missed part of the conversation, due to thinking about my new sibling, and everyone thought I was thinking of Cana."

"Oh, sweetie, if you want to tell them, I have no issue with that. Your father and I thought it was best to tell everyone later. But I have the feeling both the Master and Gildarts know." Iden said.

"But, what if their right." He muttered.

Iden blinked at what her son said. She felt her heart rate go up a little bit. She could've been over thinking it, but could it be the time?

"What do you mean?"

"I think it means he finally figured out he likes Cana." Raven said.

Jackson blushed, and looked like he was about to say something. But, he ended up having his head in his hands, and slouching. Raven looked worried, and looked at Iden for help. Iden sighed, and rubbed her son's back soothingly.

She always wondered when the day would come, when either she or Hal would talk about his feelings towards his best friend. They thought they would have a talk, back when Cana had kissed him on the cheek, but felt like it wasn't the right time. So they decided to wait the right time, or a sign… and it looked like it was the right time.

"Sweetie, do you like Cana?"

Jackson moved his head out of his hands, he had a thoughtful look, and said," I… I don't know. Is it possible, mom?"

"Honey, I believe this isn't something that neither I, nor your father can help you with. I want you to think for a moment, and tell me how you really feel."

Jackson nodded, and closed his eyes to think.

He thought about his time with Cana over the years. From their first meeting, to the start of their friendship, how she thanked him by helping her reunite with her dad. Them growing closer over the years, to the point that they would know everything about each other, and being able to talk to one another about anything. Especially when they hung out at the park, under the tree they always hung out at, and the times Cana laid on is shoulder, and he let her.

The way her smile seemed to make his heart flutter, her laugh… and due to going through changes, he started to notice her body more. He wasn't pervert, or anything, but looking at a girl how a boy normally would.

He had the talk with his parents already… he was both well informed, and slightly embarrassed.

He remembered how she had kissed his cheek all those years ago, and now that he thought about it more, it felt good, and he sorta liked it. Especially all the hugs she had given him. He also remembered how they improved their magic together, how they worked great as a team, and the joy she saw when he mastered her card magic.

And, now that he thought about it, he couldn't picture his life without her.

Jackson realized it now, and he was both happy, and terrified at the same time.

"Mom… I think… no, I do like, Cana. She makes feel fuzzy… is that the right word?"

Iden giggled, and said," Close enough. I know this is a very confusing to you, Jackson, but, I have no doubt she'll feel the same way."

"What?! I don't think I can do that! I've never done it mom! I don't think she'll feel the same way! What if- oww!"

Jackson started to rub his arm, and let out a hiss of pain. There were some claw marks, and he immediately looked at the culprit.

Raven shrugged, and said," What? You were spiraling."

"Thank you, Raven. I would've used something less painful. But, sweetie, you can't think of the 'what if', you need to act on it. I know it's scary and nerve wracking, but I promise you feel better once you tell her. Yes, there might be a chance at rejection, but you don't know that. Cana could have the same feelings as you, you just gotta take the initiative, and do it." Iden explained.

Jackson thought about it for a moment, he sighed, and said," All right, I'll tell her. This is gonna be nerve wracking. I'll tell her when I'm dead."

Iden snorted, and hugged her son, and said," I'm proud of you honey, but make sure to tell her when she gets back. Who knows, you may start dating an S-Class Mage."

Jackson had complete faith in her, but he was worried about what will happen in the future.

Meanwhile, back at Tenrou Island, the trials were in full swing. It had been a couple of hours since the start of it, and Cana felt like she was doing a good job at first.

The trials went like this: Each applicant had to choose a path go through, and they all led somewhere. Applicants either found 'quiet paths', which allowed the applicant to not face anyone, and make it to the second trial unharmed. While the last two led to battle paths, which you either fought a fellow applicant, or fought against a current S-Class Member, with the people chosen as these obstacles: her dad, Hal, and Laxus. She believed she could handle the latter two, but her dad… not so much.

At first, she thought she was on the quiet path, she didn't see any other applicant. She felt pretty good, until she had found herself coming into a slight clearing that was covered in big tree roots, but enough to have a lot of sunlight. And some of that sunlight was on Henry 'Hal' Wren, as if it was a spotlight.

And that's how she found herself fighting him right now. She felt like the fight had gone on for hours, but in reality, it was only for a few minutes.

"Earth Magic: Earthquake Stomp!" Hal said, as a magic circle appeared at his feet, and he stomped into the ground.

Cana dodged in the nick of time, due to a large amount of earth shot out into the air.

"Card Magic: Explosive Volley!" She yelled, as she threw five cards.

"Ring Enhancer Air Magic: Gust of Wind!"

Hal threw out a punch, and a gust of wind shot out, and diverted the cards to explode in the air.

"Nice try kid, but I can see the training you've done has paid off."

Cana smirked smugly and said," What, did you think your son and I was lazy? I'm way better than him."

Hal chuckled and said," If you're trying to get me mad or distracted, then that won't work. If you fought me when I was younger, then I would've been more impulsive. But how's this, my son has a huge crush on you for years, and you've never noticed."

Cana was about to activate her magic, but she stopped, and she felt her jaw hit the floor. She also felt her face going red.

"Wait, what?!" She screeched.

"Gotcha. Earth Magic: Pillar!" He said, and threw his arm.

A pillar of earth came, and hit Cana on the side, and she ended landing on her back. She groaned, but she got back up. But she had to dodge, because Hal started to throw fireballs at her. Cana reacted fast, as she held out two cards, and threw them on the ground. This caused the cards to shine, and a shield of water came up, and the fire balls dissipated

"That was low! I know Jackson doesn't like me like that!" Cana seethed.

"But it got you distracted. Distractions are something that an S-Class Wizard must be prepared for. And also coming to terms with your feelings, but it applies to other things. Water Magic: Icicles!" He said as shards of ice shot out of his hands.

Cana held two sets of cards in her hands, and said, "If you think using my non-existent feelings for Jackson is going to work, it's not. Card Magic: Summoned Multiple Lightening!"

As soon as she did a swiping motion with the cards, a green magic symbol appeared, and multiple green lightning bolts shot out of it. Hal used a rock slab to protect himself, but it only helped him out for a second, and he ended up being blown away.

Hal shook his head and thought,' All these years of training, and it's finally being paid off. Alright, let's see what your daughter can do, Gildarts.' He thought the last part with small smile.

"Well then, looks like the gloves are coming off now." He said, and surge of magic energy started to surround him.

Cana didn't know what was happening, because now she felt as if the air around her was starting to get hot. She had never felt this type of magic power from Hal before, but, he was an S-Class Wizard for a reason, and she knew she didn't know all of his abilities.

Hal pounded his fists together, and two magic symbols appeared on his hands.

"Combination! Air and Fire Magic: Fire Tornado!" He yelled.

Hal then shot out his hands, and a Tornado made of fire came out, and then came zooming towards Cana.

'Well, wasn't planning on using Dad's magic, unless it's a last resort. And it looks like it is.' Cana thought as she took out a card. "Crash Card: Negate!"

She threw the card at the incoming windy inferno. Once the card was close enough, a flash of light appeared, and the Fire Tornado dissipated into sparks.

Cana felt her heart beat, and said," I didn't know you can do that!"

She noticed that Hal looked a little winded, and he then smugly said," Well, I gotta have some secrets. I also see you decided to use your dad's crash magic. This is going to be a whole lot of fun. Hope you can make my son proud."

He wasn't the type use someone's feeling to his advantage. But he felt this was a special case. Even though it had to do with his son's potential love life, he felt like he should try to get Cana to come to terms with her obvious feelings towards his son. It was an odd thing to do, but, he did say coming terms with ones feelings, did help.

Ugh, he wished Iden was here instead, she would know how to approach this.

'Don't say anything. He's trying to rile you up, and distract you.' Cana thought to herself.

She had to focus on the fact that her best friend's father can do a type of combination magic. And she had to guess it took a lot of energy to do, because he looked a little winded, but it could've been the high intensity of the heat of the fire.

Hal then made a 'come at me' motion, and Cana had a couple of more cards at the ready.

'I gotta win this soon. Or else I'll lose my temper, and lose. Oh well, gotta play a little dirty.'

Can held two cards, once they lit up, she threw them. Hal lit his hand up, and tossed a couple of Fire Balls. Once they made contact, the cards created a bright flash, and Hal was forced to cover his eyes.

"Crash Card: Lightening!"

"Oh crap." Hal managed to mutter.

He got hit with a destructive force, and lightening. This caused him to go flying into the air, and slam into one of the vines, with a large thud. Cana gasped, she didn't think she hit him that hard, but chided in herself that wasn't the case. Crash Magic was a very powerful type of magic, and that was why she used it as a last resort. Even though she trained extensively with her dad, she still had a lot to learn.

She then ran over to him, with a low level healing card she had.

"Mr. Wren, are you alright?" She asked worriedly, as she activated the card.

Hal chuckled with a groan, and said," Heh, I'm fine kid. Jeez, haven't felt like this in a while. Pretty sure your card, and a little bit of rest will do me good."

Cana nodded, and then hopefully asked," So, does that mean I passed the trial?"

Hal sighed, he knew he should, but the thoughts he had before came back. He knew was in uncharted territory, but he believed it was the right thing to do. Although there was a chance of a lashing out, which in his current state, won't be prepared for.

"Normally yes, but no."

Cana felt or she thought she heard breaking glass. The shock of hearing this was replaced by both anger and sadness. She couldn't lose, she and Jacks had trained so hard to get this far… well she was here herself, and Jacks wasn't picked, or felt ready, but still.

"W-what, why not? I mean, I was supposed to defeat you right? And I also didn't let you trying to distract or let my guard down. I even thought quickly on my feet. What did I do wrong?" Cana asked.

Hal patted the ground next to him, this signaled for her to sit down. Even though she was still confused and mad, she complied anyway, and sat down.

"You are going to pass, but, you need to do some thinking. Luckily, the trials are used to test your intelligence, problem solving, and coming to terms with your flaws, and other things that you need to let go, or what I said previously about coming to terms with something."

"Ok? What is it then?"

'Well, no turning back now.' Hal thought, and then said aloud," I want to you think hard, this is something you need to figure out on your own. I want you to figure out if you have feelings for my son or not."

Cana would've said something really sarcastic, or vehemently deny that, while her face turned red. But for some reason, something was telling her to do it, and she let herself think for a moment.

She remembered the first time she met Jackson, especially when she gazed into his blue eyes, the promise they made to become stronger, and become S-Class Mages in the future. The year they spent together becoming closer, and him helping her to tell Gildarts that she was his daughter. How they became close enough, to the point they knew everything about each other, the times they cheered each other, especially when he mastered her Card Magic. How he always seemed to make her smile, and her heart fluttered because him smiling, laughing.

She thought back when she had kissed him on the cheek. Back then, she didn't know why she did it, but as she thought about it now… maybe, no, it was her subconscious telling her that she liked him.

And when everyone joked around with them about their supposed crush, she always denied it, but she always felt as if that wasn't the truth.

Cana's eyes widened as the realization hit her.

She liked Jackson.

"You alright, kid?" Hal asked.

"I-I, like Jackson." Was all she said.

Hal nodded, and some way, it reminded him of his time dating Iden, and coming to the realization that he wanted to spend his life with her. He knew the kids were too young to think like that, and he hoped that they would take things slow. Although, the fact that they were now teenagers, made his thoughts damper a little, because he knew how hormones and emotions worked on kids their age. Good thing Iden and he already had the talk with Jackson. Gildarts had done the same with Cana already, and he found it very amusing when Iden probed Gildarts on what he said, in case he said something that would be frowned upon.

"Hey, there's nothing to worry about. This is a part of life. And Jacks couldn't find a better girl to be with."

Cana blushed, and then said," Do you think… he'll like me back?"

Hal snorted and said," Cana, everyone, including myself and Iden, have been watching you both for years. I'm surprised neither of you figured it out sooner. But enough about that, I am happy to report that you passed your trial. C'mon, the Master will be waiting for everyone."

"Are you okay enough to walk?" Cana asked concerned.

Hal cracked his back as he got up, and said," I'll be fine, I've taken worse, c'mon."

"Okay."

As they walked into another pathway, Cana started to think on what she was going to say to Jackson, once they got back.

She was now hoping the trials would last forever now, or if staying on the island was an alternative, once she thought about it.

A couple of days later, everyone was sitting around the guild. Everyone was waiting for the S-Class examinees to return. The ones, who had been at the guild the longest, knew the trials took a couple of days, depending on where the trials were held, so they knew it was only matter of time. Jackson was busy talking to his grandfather, Sato, who had arrived at the guild the day after everyone left for the trials.

The doors then opened, and everyone turned around to see who it was.

Master Makarov walked into the building, and once he had everyone's attention, he then said," Everyone, we have a new S-Class Mage among our ranks. After successfully completing her trials, she has proven she has what it takes to be one of Fairy Tail's Elites, and she is also the youngest to do so. Give a round of applause to now S-Class Mage… Cana Alberona Clive!"

Gildarts, who had a proud smile on his face, walked Cana into the Guild Hall, and she waved at everyone happily. Everyone then cheered, especially the younger members of the guild.

"Let's celebrate." Makarov ordered with a smile.

Later on, the party was in full swing, everyone had already congratulated Cana. And her friends were asking her what she did during her trials.

"Still can't believe you defeated my dad. He's one of the strongest Wizards I know." Jackson said.

Although his thoughts were clouded with what he was going to say to Cana, he knew he had to wait later, because this was more important at the time.

Cana raised a brow at him, she had Raven on her lap, and said," And when were you going to tell me he could do that certain moves with his magic? That could've helped."

"Wait, what can he do?" Gray asked.

"I would much like to know as well." Erza said.

Jackson shrugged, he looked smugly at everyone else, and said," You just have to wait and find out."

Erza nodded and said," Very well, when it is my time for the trials, I will be prepared for whatever Mr. Wren has. And he will fall."

"Well get in line, I'm gonna beat him or Gildarts, when I'm taking the trials." Natsu said.

"Heh, good luck with that Pinky, cause I'm gonna go before you. And if I fight either Hal or Iden, then I'll show them how much I improved." Mirajane said.

"Good luck with that, you'll fail anyway." Raven said.

"Aye, especially Jackson, his parents will cream them." Happy said.

Jackson ignored what the blue cat said, while everyone gave them both glares. But what Erza, Mirajane and Natsu said, made him think. He knew his parents could hold their own, but he felt a bit worried at his friends declarations.

With the parents in question, they sat at the bar with Makarov, Gildarts, and Sato.

"So, she is the youngest to ever become an S-Class. Heh, the newer generation is going to surpass us." Sato fondly said.

"It's thanks to our guidance, dad. And I could say the same thing when you trained me when I was younger." Iden said.

Sato looked at his daughter proudly, and said," And I couldn't be more prouder sweetie, on how much you grown stronger."

"How do you think I feel? I've been Guild Master long enough to see most of them grow up." Makarov said as he gazed at everyone.

Everyone in the guild he considered his family, or children. He had seen a lot of them grow over the years, especially in magical ability, and he made sure to help them when he could. He knew they were in good hands, and that pleased him.

Sato was in the same boat, even though he wasn't around most of the time, he did go out of his way to interact with everyone in the Guild when he did visit. And felt like they were family as well too. He knew Jackson and his friends will make the guild proud, and show the older generation, like himself, that they were ready to take on the world. Sure, a couple of them were rough around the edges, but they had time to learn.

"So, who do you think might join our prestigious ranks next year? I'm hoping it's one of the kids, mainly Jacks." Gildarts said.

Hal looked at the kids, who were talking lively with each other. He shrugged and said," I am hoping Jacks will, but I don't want to be biased. But, I'm thinking either Erza or Mira. They have grown stronger."

"Yeah, but I hate to be in your shoes if you have to fight them." Gildarts said with a chuckle.

Hal couldn't help but feel a bead of sweat go down his face.

"And by the way, when do you think the kids will talk about 'you know what'? Cause I'm looking forward to give the kid the shovel talk." Gildarts then said.

Iden gave her friend side glance, but didn't say anything. She was planning on giving the same to Cana.

"Let's hope not until later on. Their just kids, they're still figuring things out. No need to rush." Hal said.

"That's true son. At least you all decided to let the kids figure it out themselves, instead of pushing it. These kids are still young, and are still figuring things out. But I do see how Jacks and Cana feel about each other. Heh, the kid wouldn't stop talking about her when he or I visited." Sato said the last part with a chuckle.

"Believe us dad, we did let them figure out on their own, unless they wanted advice. Mr. Ace of Fairy Tail here wasn't here most of the time, and I dread what Master would say regarding romance. So that left Hal and me." Iden said.

Gildarts started to defend himself, while Sato chuckled and said," Well Mackey, she got you there. I mean, when we were a team back in the day, you were the ladies man."

Makarov chuckled and then looked at the kids and thought, 'But regarding their future as Mages, the future looks bright for them, let's see where their paths will go.'

A couple of hours later, Jackson was grateful that everyone was now doing their own thing, and were distracted by talking to each other, and also Natsu's attempt to fight Gildarts again. The Dragon Slayer in question, was nursing a huge bump on his head, and both Happy and Lisanna were looking after him.

Jackson tapped Raven, who then looked at him with curiosity, and he nodded his head to Cana, who was looking at her cards. Raven nodded, and went to hang out with Iden and Hall. Jackson took a breath, and steeled himself for what was to come. He had a couple of days to think it over, and had his mom give him advice.

He tapped her on the shoulder, and Cana looked at him.

"Hey, Cana, can we talk in private?" He asked her.

Cana had a small look of confusion, but nodded. She then placed her cards back into a deck, and then placed them into her pocket. The both of them walked out of the guild, and to make sure they had enough privacy, so they went to South Gate Park. The both of them were silent, and Cana was wondering what Jackson had wanted to say to her. It had to be something important, due to him being quiet, something that he rarely was.

They then sat on bench, it was already mid afternoon, and the sun was high in the sky. And there wasn't that many people in the area, which was a good thing. They were quiet for a few moments; the both of them didn't say anything.

Jackson decided to bite the magical bullet and said," Cana… there's something I need to tell you."

"What?" Cana asked.

Jackson sighed, there was no turning back now, and he just hoped they could still be friends. He didn't know that Cana was thinking like this as well. And she was also hoping this wouldn't ruin anything between them.

"I've uh… recently figured something out. Something that I put some thought into, and found myself realizing that it was the truth. I guess for a while now, I've liked someone, someone that I've known for a long time. After talking it over with my mom… Cana, I have a crush on you. But I know for a fact now that I like you. Your one of the best people that I know, and I don't know what I'll do without you. I just wanted to let you know, and if you don't feel the same way, then I understand, and I hope we can still be friends."

He said, and as he was saying it, he was looking down on the ground. He didn't want to see Cana's facial expression, he was pretty sure it was of disgust, or maybe she was finding his confession amusing, and he would be laughed at, at any moment. A second later, a hand held his, and looked up at Cana, who was giving him a small smile.

"You would not believe how relieved I am. Cause, I feel the same way, Jacks. I figured it out when I was taking my trials. Your dad actually helped with that. I don't how long that I liked that I liked you, but I do. You've done so much for me since I arrived at the guild, and I thank you dearly for that. So yeah, I do like you as well."

The both of them gazed at each other, and then broke into laughter.

"You would not believe I worried and freaked I was these past couple of days." Jackson said, relieved.

"Yeah same here. I'm happy that you feel the same. I was hoping that beer my old man gave would help me confess."

Jackson huffed and said," Still can't believe Gildarts allowed you to have one, while myself and the rest couldn't."

Cana smirked at him and said," Hey, it was because of my accomplishment, Wren. Maybe when you become S-Class you'll get your own. It tasted bleh at first, but it was alright after a couple of more sips."

"Just don't go on full blown alcoholic. Ow!" He yelped, and rubbed his arm.

Cana gave him a small glare, but it softened, and said," So what now? We have feeling for each other. How do we play this?"

"Well, mom told me that if we felt the same way, then we should take things slow. I mean, I don't think we're the time type do all the dumb, gross, couple stuff."

Cana giggle and said," I agree, we should just take things slow. There's no need to rush. How about… we start things off by holding hands?"

Jackson thought about it for a moment, and said," I guess that'll work. So, do we tell everyone, or just wait?"

Cana smirked, and said," I think I see who'll make all the decisions in this relationship."

Jackson gave her a flat look, and Cana giggled at his look.

"C'mon, let's head back to the guild." Cana said.

The both of them got up from the bench, Jackson was the one to hold his hand out, and Cana was hesitant for a moment, but then took his hand into her's. They then walked hand-in-hand, back to the guild, with her lives changed now.

And they finally admitted their feelings for each other. Now, yes I know their only thirteen, but I'm not planning on having them say the L word just yet, they are just kids still, and figuring things out. Now Cana is an S-Class, and don't worry, Jackson will become one soon, chapter wise.

Also by the way, I know I included Iden's father (I'll explain what happened to her mother later), but, should I add Hal's parents, and also any other family of Jackson's or the others? It's much appreciated.

Till next time.

But one more thing, a bonus scene!

The party for Cana making S-Class was in full swing. Wakaba was snicking at what Macao was telling him, Reedus, who already knew the story, still chuckled, and Macao gave them annoyed looks.

"So, you went up against Laxus? Jeez, talk about being a dead man from the start!"

Macao grumbled at his friend, and said," It's not like I gave up. I tried my hardest. But I went up against the Master's Grandson. He's a powerhouse. I thought I was going to be ashes when I struck by his lightening." He said, and shivered as felt the remnants of the electricity in him.

"Yeah but still, that's what you get from the Master's grandson, he's as powerful as they come."

"Oui."

What they didn't notice, was that Laxus was standing nearby, he had annoyed look on his face.

'I'm more than just Gramp's grandson. Sooner or later, they'll know I'm more than just that.' He thought.

A little bit of foreshadowing before getting to the Battle of Fairy Tail Arc that will happen once I get into the series. When I thought about that, I thought it was a good idea to include.
