THE RAIN & THE SUN

NOTE: I know I thank you guys every time, but I'm seriously thankful for everyone who follows &/or favorites my story.

Lunadalla: Careful! That's dangerous lol. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

Calerose: Hope you liked what I decided. I think it works well. Those are good choices. Both powers are interesting. Though being Bunnyx seems like a pain haha.

Lylex96: I know! I'd kiss Cat Noir already. Hope you enjoy what happens in this chapter.

Rivkamar2001: Yes, very true. I feel like my sanity is rising and my belief in human goodness has dropped lol. I'd love to comment on how the summer goes, but that requires spoilers. Hope this chapter doesn't let you down in your excitement. Well the peacock non-evil powers would be the same. Lend people powers temporarily for help. Not a fish miraculous to my knowledge, but I do love water powers. Thanks for your continual support!

Ladyloveschat: Glad you liked the chapter. Yes, that's a reason I have tons of Cat Noir/Marinette interaction, to build their love for the other. Feel like they need to really know both sides. Marichat fluff all the way! Hope you like the dance and thanks for your reviews.

Ofdetermination: I'm glad you love this story! Hope this dance chapter is to your liking and enjoy the romantic moments. Thanks for your review!

Miscellaneous25: Here's the dance chapter! Enjoy! Glad to hear you'll keep reading! That means a lot.

So, I suck at fashion. Don't much about it. Describing everyone's outfits might be crappy so I apologize in advance. Warning for possible run-on sentences. I tried to set up a link in my bio so it would go to a google slide and show you what they would look like visually but wouldn't work. I even set the slide to public with those with link. Not sure why it won't connect. If you're tech smart PM me please.

Also, I don't think Chloe remembers who the miraculous holders are because she was akumatized. But looking back at the episode, it's hard to tell. I'm going with she doesn't know.

I seem to be switching the spelling of Nathaniel/Nathanael. Oops lol! I'm going to try to stick with Nathaniel. I may forget in the future. It's hard remembering everything! ENJOY!

The Rain & the Sun

Chapter 7: A Night to Remember

By Friday morning, Marinette's dress is ready. Looking at it on the mannequin, she's pleased. It looks exactly like she imagined it. Putting a long cloth over to cover it, Marinette grabs some things from her desk before placing them in her purse. With a tune stuck in her head and hums from her lips, Marinette glides around the room.

"Getting ready for tonight?" Daizzi speaks up.

"I think she'll be outstanding," Ziggy compliments.

Marinette smiles before stopping her movements.

"Thanks. We'll see. I have to get through this afternoon first," Marinette responds.

"Are you going out? Please take us with you," Xuppu pleads.

"Alright, Stompp and Roaar it's your turn," Marinette consents.

The two kwamis plus Tikki phase into her purse.

"When is it going to be my turn?" Xuppu slightly grumbles.

He balances on his tail, arms folded.

"Soon," Marinette addresses. "Stay out of trouble you guys. I'll be back later."

Marinette makes her way down to the bakery. Her parents are happily helping customers.

"How are the treats for tonight coming along?" Marinette asks.

"They'll all be ready in time," Sabine ensures.

Tom wraps his arm around his wife.

"Don't worry dear. Everything will be great," Tom promises.

"You work too hard. I hope you can relax before the dance so you can enjoy it," Sabine adds.

"I will. I just have to make sure everything is set up and is in place," Marinette replies.

On that note, Marinette waves her parents goodbye before walking across the street to the school. Several other students in her grade are standing in the courtyard, including Alya.

"On time again. Should I get used to this?" Alya teases.

"I told you. I've been working on being on my punctuality. You don't have to tease me every time it pays off," Marinette laughs.

"What are best friends for?" Alya reminds.

All the students and some staff gather together.

"Thanks for coming to help set up. I'll try my best to keep us on schedule, so you have plenty of time to get ready yourselves. I'll need some people to get round tables and chairs for student use. Also the sound system and lights. Maybe some portable heaters," Marinette announces.

Some students volunteer to get that done and go ahead to grab those items.

"Can I have a couple people wait out front for the delivery truck? Text me when it gets here," Marinette requests.

Two students go off to do that.

"Oh, I forgot we'll need tables for the food. Probably three of four rectangular ones," Marinette continues.

Marinette turns to Alya.

"How's your mom with the food for tonight?"

"Says everything will be ready. She wants to know if she can come a little early to prepare some of the things here in our kitchen. That way they'll be fresher."

"Totally fine. I'll get the key for the kitchen in a moment."

"And your parents? Are the sweets on schedule?"

"Good. They'll be ready too," Marinette turns to a girl. "Denise, does the DJ remember we have him booked today?"

"Yep. He'll be here later. I'll let you know when," Denise answers.

"Thank you. I feel like I'm forgetting something," Marinette ponders.

"The photographer," Alya reminds. "He'll be here later too."

"Perfect. Let's setting up and seeing how the layout looks."

First, the round tables and chairs are set up underneath the second-story platforms where there isn't already benches. Marinette gets a text that the delivery truck is here. She meets them out front with some additional help.

"Sign here please," the man instructs.

Marinette signs her name. He unlocks the back of the truck. He places some items on the sidewalk. The students are directed to take them inside the school. Gathering them all, Marinette places the last one down before the front doors.

"Wow, they look great," Alya admires.

Marinette takes in the life-size cut-outs identical to all of Parisians famous superheroes.

"I know, Théo did a great job! They're perfect."

"Where should we set them up?"

"Leave the cut-outs here for a moment. We'll use the lights soon. We still have a lot to do."

The group works hard to get the dance in order. All the tables are set up with table cloth. Rounds are around the edge and the snack tables stand in the front of the courtyard, on the side basketball line. The photography station is set on the other side. A tarp hangs down with the superheroes placed in front. Marinette and Alya are asked to demonstrate everything is right.

"Smile for the camera!" Vincent snaps a picture.

The two girls pose and giggle after. Vincent looks at the picture. Thanks to the tarp, the girls look like they're out in the city night with the superheroes. Vincent gives a thumbs up.

Everyone decides that it probably isn't necessary for portable heaters, but they keep them out and in a corner just in case. Lights are strung through the railing of the second story and the entirety of the poles. When the DJ arrives, he sets up his equipment on the endline farthest from the front doors.

Alya's mom comes and sets up in the kitchen. Marinette's parents will come a little later. By the time everything is organized, there's just over an hour left before the dance will begin. All of the students, besides Alya and Marinette, have left.

"Why don't you two go get ready," Ms. Bustier suggests.

"You sure? As class representative I should be here when students arrive," Marinette points out.

"It's fine. Everything is set up and it looks great. Go get ready and come back to have fun. We'll text you if we need you here early," Ms. Bustier assures.

"Thank you," Marinette smiles.

"I'm going to grab my stuff and meet you at your house. My mom brought it with her," Alya tells, slowly making her way towards the kitchen.

"Alright, I'll meet you at my house," Marinette confirms.

Running across the street, Marinette warns the kwamis what's coming.

"Marinette!"

She places a tray down and smiles.

"Sorry but you'll have to remain hidden for a while. Alya is coming over so we can get ready together," Marinette explains.

"No worriess. We'll be fine," Sass assures.

"Hope you have fun. We'll be responsible," Wayzz reassures.

The kwamis grab some food from the tray before hiding in their house. By the time Marinette returns the tray downstairs, Alya arrives. The two girls go up to her room.

"I'm so excited for tonight. We're going to look great! And thanks for finding the time to alter my dress some," Alya thanks.

"Of course! Anything to blow Nino's mind," Marinette giggles.

Alya joins in the laughter.

"But now I have to see your dress."

Marinette unveils her dress on the mannequin. Alya is speechless.

"Girl, you're going to look so beautiful in that! I can't believe you did that all yourself."

"Thanks, now the real question. Change or hair first?"

"Oh Marinette, sweet naïve Marinette. You always eat food first, duh. I'm starving."

Marinette laughs.

"I'll get some snacks. Nothing too crazy. There will be plenty of food at the dance."

"In the meantime, I'll get all my makeup sorted."

Going downstairs, Marinette grabs some light snacks. Sabine enters.

"Doesn't look like you're ready yet," Sabine observes.

"Not yet. Getting some energy first," Marinette reasons.

"Your father and I are heading over. See you there sweetie."

"You know you don't have to stay. You could just set up the food."

"And miss a chance on our daughter dancing quite possibly with a boy?"

Marinette narrows her eyes. Sabine chuckles.

"We'll leave as soon as you arrive. Make sure you make it on time."

"Ha, ha. You better get moving or you'll be late."

"Very well. Have fun tonight dear," Sabine kisses Marinette's cheek.

Back upstairs, the girls eat some snacks and blast some music. It's hard for the kwamis to remain hidden instead of joining in, but revealing themselves to Alya is out of the question. With the food gone, the girls get into their dresses before doing their hair and make-up. Alya insists on taking a few (dozen) pictures before the two can leave.

It's already ten minutes pass the dance start time. Who isn't fashionably late these days though? In spite of the school being right across the street, the walk feels strange passing normal people by. Even from the sidewalk, the girls can see the dance lights and hear the music. Walking up the multitude of steps sucks with heels, but Marinette and Alya manage. The teacher at the door lets them in. Everyone looks to be here already, dancing happily to the music, setting their stuff down, or getting some food. The two girls smile at each other before joining in.

Nino and Adrien are off to the side, waiting for the girls. Adrien is the first to notice them. Alya's inspiration is clearly Ladybug. She's wearing a long-sleeved, high-low hem dress. All of it is completely red with black polka dots, even her gloves. She's wearing a Ladybug mask. Her short heels are black. Her hair is down and has been straightened.

It's Marinette that takes his breath away. Her inspiration comes from Ladybug AND Cat Noir. Her dress skirt is two layers of ruffles. The top is black with green splatters that reminds him of his cataclysm. The bottom layer ruffle is only showing about six inches. It's red with black dots, matching her strapless, V-neck dress top. Her gloves, that stop before her elbow, and mask are black. Her dress comes with accessories: two red ribbons like Ladybug, and a bell necklace and cat ears headband for Cat Noir. Her hair is down and curled. She's wearing black combat boots with a small heel.

While Adrien is observing their outfits, Alya and Marinette are scanning the crowd for the boys. Alya points them out.

"There they are," Alya shows them by a pole.

Marinette smiles at the two of them. Nino models Cat Noir. He's wearing a closed black tux with a Cat Noir classic green shirt and matching tie over the tux. His mask is black. His shoes are a dark brown. Surprisingly, Nino isn't wearing his signature red hat. Alya must have had a rant or two about that.

She almost laughs at Adrien's outfit. Not because it's funny or anything, but because he's also wearing a Ladybug and Cat Noir inspired suit. His black tux shirt is open to show more of his green shirt. His tie and mask are red with black dots. His shoes are also red. The four of them meet.

"Did you steal my idea?" Marinette jokes.

Adrien laughs.

"I had no idea this was your idea. I couldn't choose between them so I decided to combine them. I thought I was being original," Adrien admits.

"All my idea," Marinette claims.

"I do admit, you took it to a whole other level. You look beautiful," Adrien compliments.

Marinette blushes.

"Thank you. You look handsome," Marinette returns.

Meanwhile, Alya stops her small conversation with Nino with a kiss and interrupts them.

"You two look so cute! Did you plan this?" Alya intervenes.

"No we didn't," Adrien answers.

"Totally by accident," Marinette replies.

"We'll have to get a picture," Alya winks subtly at Marinette, who rolls her eyes.

"Of course. I hope to get lots of pictures with everyone," Adrien agrees.

"Do we have to? I hate pictures," Nino argues.

"Nino, don't ruin it for me!" Alya demands. "Be a good boyfriend and be in as many pictures as your girlfriend wants."

"Yes dear," Nino sasses.

"Now you two are cute. I hope someday you look back on this night, be grateful for all my hard work, and name your first kid after me," Marinette teases.

"I get the second child!" Adrien dibs.

"You two are so funny," Alya shakes her head. "Let's stop just standing here and join the party!"

Alya links her arm with Marinette and leads the way. Before the fun can begin, Marinette reminds Alya she has to make an announcement up front. She's stopped along the way by some classmates though. All gushing at her outfit.

Mylène's outfits reminds Marinette of her usual clothes. She's wearing a blue, short-sleeve, bateau neckline dress top. Her skit is an olive green. She also has a tan jacket that match her leggings with black boots. Her mask is a similar blue as her top. Her hair is still in dreadlocks, but it's down instead of up in her pink bandana.

It appears Ivan isn't totally dressed up. He's wearing his usual shirt, but has dress pants on. His usual shoes are also on his feet. His mask is black.

No one is surprised by Rose's dress. It's a light pink, halter top dress that goes down to her ankles. Her gloves, mask, and a thick sash are a paradise pink. Her heels are also a light pink.

Juleka is wearing a black, long sheath dress with a dark purple overskirt, half tulle. Her gloves, mask, and flats are black. Her hair is out of her face and even curled at the ends.

"Marinette! You look absolutely beautiful!" Rose gushes.

"Totally," Juleka agrees.

"You all look amazing. Even you Ivan. Looking good in those pants," Marinette returns.

"I'm only wearing them for Mylène," Ivan admits.

"Did you make that dress yourself?" Mylène questions.

"Yep. Took me a week. Many hours every day," Marinette laughs.

"You're so talented!" Rose cheers. "All the boys will be all over you!"

Some reason, that doesn't settle right with Adrien. Marinette shouldn't dance with anyone else but him. That wasn't possessive, right?

"I love the Ladybug and Cat Noir combination," Mylène points out.

"You match Adrien," Juleka adds.

"Is that on purpose?!" Rose squeals.

"No," Marinette laughs. "It was a surprise for us both."

"Still so cute," Rose grins.

"Who did you guys dress as?" Alya joins in.

"No one really. Just came in what I liked with a mask," Mylène answers.

"Same," Ivan responds.

"Not a real Parisian hero. But I imagine mine is beautiful and graceful and totally pink!" Rose shares.

"Sounds completely like you," Nino laughs.

"I don't know," Juleka mumbles.

Marinette observes her closer for a second.

"I can see yours Juleka. She's someone who's cool and strong. Fierce just like you," Marinette determines.

"I agree," Adrien speaks up.

"Thanks Marinette," Juleka thanks.

"No problem. I have to go up front, but I'll see you later. Hope you all enjoy the dance," Marinette steps away.

The other three wait with the group.

"Hope Marinette can make it to the front and isn't stopped by everyone," Alya laughs.

Adrien hopes the same.

"She'll get there eventually," Nino reasons.

Thankfully, Marinette isn't stopped by anyone else. She whispers to the DJ. He turns down the music and hands the mic to Marinette.

"Evening Troisième students of Collège Françoise Dupont!" Marinette greets.

The students cheer.

"Thank you for coming tonight. Don't forget there are snack tables in the back along with a professional photographer. Restrooms in the locker room are open for use. Let's make tonight a night to remember!"

The students cheer louder this time. Marinette hands the mic back to the DJ. He turns the music back up. Students go back to dancing. Marinette finds Alya, Nino, and Adrien. The four join the dancefloor. A few minutes later, there's a tap on Marinette's shoulder. She turns to Chloe. Marinette smiles.

Of course Chloe's dress is inspired by Queen Bee. She's wearing an off the shoulder, yellow and black striped, princess dress. Her gloves and heels are black. Her mask is alternating black and yellow halves. Her hair is down and loosely curled.

Sabrina is standing slightly behind her. Her scoop dress that reaches just pass her knees is a bright blue that mirrors her usual skirt. There's a purple, almost additional small dress, over the blue. Her gloves are a grey along with her heels. There's a blue headband keeping her hair behind her ears. A purple mask completes her outfit.

"Got room for two more in your dance circle?" Chloe asks.

"Sure," Marinette steps back.

Before she goes back to dancing, she notices Kagami sitting at one of the tables alone.

"I'll be right back," Marinette tells.

Walking over to her, she observes Kagami's dress. She looks like Ryuko. She's wearing a red one-shoulder, empire dress with multiple layers of ruffles on the skirt. There's a black pattern line that resembles Ryuko but less detailed. Her mask is red. Her small heels and gloves are black. There's a headpiece in the back of her hair that looks exactly like Ryuko's gold, black, and red horns.

Marinette stops right in front of Kagami with her hand out.

"Come dance with us," Marinette smiles.

"I accept your invitation," Kagami takes her hand.

"You look incredible by the way."

"Thank you. You look satisfactory as well."

The two join the group.

"Welcome Kagami. You look great," Alya greets

"How did you do your headpiece?" Adrien inquires.

"Marinette made it for me," Kagami replies.

"Wow girl, making your own dress, altering mine, and making a headpiece for Kagami. How did you find time to study?" Alya teases.

Everyone laughs. The group dances for a while before deciding to get some snacks and rest their feet. Alya goes ahead and saves a table with Chloe. Sabrina and Nino pick out double the stuff for them, Kagami, Sabrina, and Nino go back to the table at the same time. Adrien and Marinette linger at the sweets.

"Would anyone notice if I steal everything on this table?" Adrien jokes.

Marinette laughs.

"I'm sure. You're not the only one that like my parents' treats," Marinette crushes his hopes.

"I better get all I can fit on this plate then," Adrien determines.

"Greetings you two," Max appears.

Alix, Kim, and Ondine accompany him.

Max is wearing a dark brown shirt with a lighter brown pants and matching suspenders. His shoes are grey along with his bowtie. His mask is a dark brown.

Kim is wearing a dark brown top with light brown, almost tan tux. His mask and shoes are the same yellowish-cream color.

Alix is wearing a baby blue long-sleeve with a short black skirt and leggings. On her feet are a pair of sneakers. Her hair is in it's usual fashion with her hat. Her mask is black.

Ondine looks to be following Rena Rogue's design. She's wearing a bright orange, sleeveless, sweetheart trumpet dress. She has a black and white sash. Her black gloves almost reach her shoulder. Her heels are black. Her mask is orange and white.

"Hey guys. Love your style," Marinette compliments.

"I'm not a fan of dresses but I love yours," Alix says.

"Yours is totally you. It's great," Marinette offers.

"Enjoying the dance so far?" Adrien questions.

"It's fun! You did an amazing job setting this up, Marinette," Kim inputs.

"Thank all the volunteers. I only did some," Marinette deflects.

"Still, you did a wonderful job. And it's good to see you again," Ondine adds.

"It's nice to see you again as well. You and Kim are so cute together," Marinette returns. "But who are you?"

"I'm King Monkey! One of the greatest superheroes in Paris!" Kim replies proudly.

"Of course you say that. It's probable you are a monkey," Max points out.

Ondine giggles.

"A cute monkey," Ondine observes.

"This monkey needs food!" Kim claims.

He pulls Ondine with him to the snack table.

"See you later," Alix departs as well with Max.

Adrien and Marinette make their way back to the table. The group of seven eat and rest, enjoying the break with conversation. Nino stands.

"I need to hit the restroom, Adrien come with," Nino reveals.

"I thought only girls went to the restroom together," Adrien laughs.

"Something you want to tell us?" Alya teases.

"I just don't want to go alone!" Nino admits.

They laugh. Nevertheless, Adrien stands.

"Alright," Adrien gives in.

"Want to hit the dancefloor again?" Alya suggests.

"I'm still eating my chocolates. You go ahead," Chloe waves off.

"I'll stay with Chloe," Sabrina replies.

"Marinette? Kagami?"

"I'm in!" Marinette stands.

"I'll join as well," Kagami agrees.

The three head back to the dancefloor. It isn't too long later that Chloe, Sabrina, Adrien, and Nino join them. After some more dancing, Aurora and Mireille come over.

Aurora is wearing a one-strap dress that begins a lighter blue on the top and becomes dark at the bottom. The skirt past is a side high-low hem, the lowest part coming together at a point. The texture almost looks feather like. Her mask is a darker blue. Her hair is up in tight curls with a flower pinned in. Her heels are silver that match her shawl around her arms.

Mireille is wearing a lime green, sleeveless, scoop dress. Her heels are black. Her gloves, mask, and sash are dark green.

"Come take pictures with us!" Aurora requests.

"Nathaniel and Marc are holding our places in line," Mireille adds.

It seems everyone in their homeroom, plus some others are joining in the picture.

Nathaniel is wearing a black tux, jacket open to show off his red shirt and grey tie. His shoes and mask are also grey.

Marc is just wearing a long sleeve, red dress shirt along with black slacks. His mask is black. His shoes are dark brown.

"Evening guys," Marinette greets.

"You look great as always," Nathaniel smiles.

"Thanks. You two look very nice," Marinette acknowledges. "Aurora, Mireille, who are your dresses modeled after?"

"Mine's after the turtle superhero, Carapace. I love turtles," Mireille answers.

"And mine doesn't exist but I was going for a bird. They're my favorite," Aurora replies.

"I totally can see bird. Nice," Alya notes.

Luckily, another group doesn't come to the photographer for a while. The large group decides to do everyone first, which looks really crowded but they don't care. They decide to do some class photos too. Juleka is not mysteriously left out. Some of them do smaller groups. There's many of those types. Alya starts the couple pictures, much to Nino's chagrin. Marinette stands off to the side smiling at all the cute couples that go. She notes Alix and Max awkwardly "just decide" to do one together. Marinette bites her lip to stop from squealing at the implication.

"Who knew we have so many couples in our friend group," Adrien startles Marinette.

"I know right. It's great though," Marinette smiles.

Adrien rubs the back of us neck awkwardly.

"Want to take one with me?" Adrien asks.

Marinette turns completely red. She's unable to use words so she nods. When the two of them step up, there are some loud squeals. None seem to get Adrien's attention or even faze him by the situation. The two stand close, Adrien wrapping his arm around Marinette. Both smile.

After, Chloe comes up and takes hold of Adrien's arm.

"I need one too Adrikins!" Chloe beams.

By the time all the photos are taken and copies made, Vincent needs a break. The group splits up after that. Though they all seem to come together back on the dancefloor. Eventually, Alya drags Marinette to the restroom. As they enter, there are some girls on the other side of the counter but leave shortly. Both girls fix their hair.

"So…" Alya draws out with a mischievous smile on her face. "You and Adrien. You guys a couple now?"

"Alya," Marinette laughs. "We're just friends."

"Taking a couple photo?" Alya crosses her arms, a teasing smile still on her face.

"It was his idea. He probably did it because we felt left out or something," Marinette dismisses.

Alya shakes her head.

"You two make this more complicated than it needs to be."

"We're not. Friends, plain and simple."

"Like I said, complicated."

Marinette rolls her eyes. She washes her hands.

"You done? I'm ready to go back to dancing."

"With Adrien?"

Marinette throws her crumpled paper towel at Alya who laughs. As they exit the restroom, they almost run into Chloe.

"Excuse me," Chloe steps to the side.

"No problem," Alya cautiously replies.

"I'll catch up with you," Marinette states, planning to have a chat with Chloe.

Alya nods and goes back to the dancefloor. Chloe enters the restroom to fix her make-up.

"Having a fun time?" Marinette inquires.

"Yeah, it's been good," Chloe responds.

"Something on your mind?"

Chloe debates to speak or not before asking a question.

"Do you think Adrien would dance with me?"

"He has been. Or do you mean slow dance?"

"Yeah, slow dance."

Marinette bites her lip. She's trying to get over him, but that doesn't mean she likes seeing him with other girls. However, she's also trying to improve her friendship with Chloe. What will Kagami think?

"Uh…" Marinette processes. "I have no idea. You could ask him."

Chloe frowns and looks in the mirror.

"I want him to ask me."

Marinette doesn't know what to say. She knows Adrien doesn't like Chloe in that way. Who knows who he actually likes? To Marinette's knowledge, she doesn't go to this school. Otherwise he probably would talk to her. Unless he does without Marinette noticing, which she doubts. It takes a lot from Marinette to offer something.

"Want me to say something?"

Chloe looks over at Marinette, a small smile on her lips. Almost a smirk.

"That might kill you."

Marinette giggles.

"I would say something if you asked."

"No thanks. If he's going to ask me, I want it to be his idea."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. I suppose.

"Why do you call Adrien, Adrikins?"

Chloe laughs.

"When we were little and introduced to each other, I accidentally called him that. I thought it was his name. Adrien didn't correct me, because he loved it. He never had a friend before and welcomed the nickname."

"That's sweet," Marinette smiles.

"Yeah well, I guess he only sees me as a friend."

"Trust me, I'm on the same boat. But it's not so bad. You know that better than anyone."

Marinette links her arm with Chloe.

"What are you doing?" Chloe calmly asks.

"Linking arms. To walk back to the dancefloor," Marinette answers.

On the way to the group, Marinette stops, causing Chloe to stop too.

"Why did you stop?" Chloe questions.

"Is that…?"

Chloe follows Marinette's gaze.

"It is. What is he doing here?"

By the time the two girls join the group, Félix comes over. He's wearing his usual attire.

"What are you doing here Félix?" Adrien asks confused.

Many people are cautious. They don't know much about Félix, but they know he posed as Adrien and sent them a harsh reply to their video. Though after the situation, Adrien explained Félix recently lost his father and is probably just grieving. People grieve in mysterious ways. Some cry, some distract themselves with hobbies, and others hide cheese under pillows and impersonate their cousin.

Félix smiles somewhat warmly. It does look like he's trying his best.

"My mother sent me here from London, so we could spend the summer together. She thought it would be good for us," Félix responds.

"And at the dance?" Alya interjects.

"Uncle Gabriel said you were here and I should join," Félix informs.

The group is silent. Marinette decides to get everyone back to a fun mood.

"The more the merrier! Let's keep dancing."

Everyone smiles and joins in. Félix stands still for a few moments before joining in. His moves are more proper, but no one says anything.

Many members of the group decide to sit down again and enjoy some refreshments. Félix happily joins, not one for school dancing. With the dance coming close to the end, the DJ slows the music down. Almost instantly, couples begin to dance together. Alya and Nino jump up from their seat to dance. Kim and Ondine, along with some others, follow. Marinette and Kagami sit next to each other gushing, in their own ways, at the cute couples. Kagami leans over.

"You should ask Adrien," Kagami whispers.

"What?! Why?!"

"I think he wants to dance with you."

"I doubt it."

Félix stands, brushing his clothes.

"Finally a suitable melody I can dance to. Chloe, would you do me the privilege of joining me?" Félix requests holding out his hand.

"Me?!" Chloe screeches perplexed.

"I would be honored," Félix bows slightly.

"I will if you stop doing that!" Chloe stands quickly, a small blush on her cheeks.

She takes his hand and the two move to the dancefloor. Marinette and Kagami laugh once they're out of earshot. It takes her surprise when Adrien stands in front of Marinette.

"Want to dance?" he holds his hand out.

Marinette stares up at Adrien, trying to convince herself this means nothing. He's just being polite. Her hesitation makes Adrien falter, but she's unsure. I mean, Kagami is sitting right next to her. She doesn't want to hurt her. The situation is resolved when Kagami knocks her shoulder.

"This is the part where you say 'yes'," Kagami whispers.

Marinette reaches her hand up with a small smile.

"Yes."

Adrien's smile returns. He guides her to the dancefloor. Marinette wraps both her arms around his neck while he places his hands on her waist.

"So uh, are you enjoying the dance?" Marinette starts.

"Yeah. It's been really fun. You, and all the people who helped, planned a wonderful dance. One of my favorite moments at school."

"I'm glad. I'm having a lot of fun too. It's a little weird Félix showed up. Are you okay?"

"It was a surprise but I'm fine. We used to have so much fun as kids. I know what he did to you guys was awful, but that's not like him."

Marinette is only upset and embarrassed because she confessed her feelings in the video he saw. I guess it's a blessing in disguise that Adrien didn't see it.

"Yeah well, it might be some time for everyone to trust him, but you know him best. I believe you."

Adrien smiles brighter.

"Thanks Marinette. I can always count on you."

Marinette smiles in response and nods.

"I look forward to getting to know him better. He'll be around for photoshoots and stuff, right?"

Adrien slightly frowns.

"I'm not sure. He's not a model. I don't think he's ever had any interest in fashion."

"What does he like to do?"

"I'm sure he tastes have changed since we were kids."

"It might be weird at first, but you guys can be close again."

"Thanks Marinette. He's the only cousin I have so he means a lot to me. Do you have many cousins?"

"Quite a bit, but they all live in China. I haven't seen them in many years."

"Oh. I'm sorry."

"It's alright. They don't speak any French, and I'm not fluent in Mandarin. As kids though that didn't matter. Now it's more difficult."

"I could teach you Mandarin if you want."

Marinette lights up for a second before dismissing the notion.

"It's summer. You shouldn't be studying or helping me study."

"I doubt my lessons will stop over the break. I'd still love to help."

Marinette thinks about it. It could help with translating the book. Her main goal for the summer. She nods.

"Thanks. I'd love to learn whenever you get the chance."

The song changes to another slow song. Félix taps Adrien on the shoulder. The two stop.

"May I cut in?" Félix asks.

Adrien hesitates but steps back. Marinette places one hand on Félix's shoulder and the other in his hand. His free hand goes to her waist. Marinette notices Adrien asking Chloe to dance. She nods and smiles brightly. Marinette's gaze turns back to Félix, who is studying her closely.

"You know I saw that video all of your friends sent," Félix admits.

"Yes I know. Why did you do that? Pretend to be Adrien and say those awful things?" Marinette chides.

"I'm not sure. I was angry. I just lost my father and Adrien didn't even come to the funeral," Félix bitterly answers.

"He wanted to. His father wouldn't let him go."

"You believe that?"

"Of course. Mr. Agreste is… controlling, protective. He goes to extreme measures to keep Adrien safe."

"He's probably afraid to lose Adrien too."

Marinette wants to ask more about Adrien's mother but doesn't. It would be inappropriate to ask Félix instead of Adrien.

"I'm sorry about your father," Marinette says instead.

"Thank you. I can tell you mean it."

"And… about Adrien…"

"I haven't told him. It's not my place to."

"It wouldn't matter. Adrien is just a friend anyway. He's told me he loves someone. He doesn't need to know how I felt."

"Felt? I watched that video. Didn't sound like someone who could easily move on."

"I guess you're not as good at judging character as you thought you were," Marinette smiles, feeling more relaxed for whatever reason.

Félix smiles, holding back a laugh. In the shadows up above, Plagg and Tikki sit watching their holders.

"Please tell me cheese squasher isn't entering the already complicated love web," Plagg disgusts.

"I doubt it," Tikki giggles.

"What is your chosen waiting for? Shouldn't she reveal herself to Cat Noir? My poor kitten is hurting."

"Just give her time. She'll do it when the moment is right."

"I hope she does it before some catastrophe happens that could have been prevented by revealing themselves earlier."

"That would never happen!"

"Romeo and Juliet?"

"That didn't happen for real! I told you it was just a story."

"Whatever. It can still happen. Have you seen the craziness that's transpired for real?"

Tikki sighs.

"True. Sometimes I feel like someone out there is doing all this just to make us frustrated."

"I find it pretty entertaining."

"Of course you do. You're horrible stinky cheese."

"Aw, sugar cube. Don't be like that."

Tikki sticks her tongue out. Then she becomes serious, saddened.

"Do you think Marinette will be okay? I worry for her."

Plagg watches Tikki's expression fall. He smiles encouragingly.

"She's got you looking out for her. She'll be fine."

Tikki smiles in gratitude.

"And all the other kwamis," Tikki reminds.

"It's kind of unfair that you're all together except me."

"Oh please. You love the peace and quiet, plus having all the cheese to yourself."

"I object to that!"

Tikki giggles.

"Dance with me Tikki?"

"Sure!"

After another minute, the slow song fades. The next song is much more upbeat. Félix steps away from Marinette with a bow.

"Thank you for the dance."

"Of course."

While Félix sits back down, many students join in the upbeat music. The dance is almost over, but Marinette wishes it could last all night. Towards the end, Marinette is dragged by some students for pictures and dancing. Her friends miss her, especially Adrien, but they're happy people have gone back to loving her after the Lila incident. After the last song, Marinette walks back up the mic.

"Hello again students! It saddens me to say that the dance has come to an end," Marinette announces.

The students boo. Marinette smiles.

"I had a lot of fun and hope all of you did too."

They cheer.

"Please don't linger in the school and make it safely home. Lastly, I just want to thank you for an amazing school year and letting me be your class representative!"

They cheer again.

"Have a wonderful summer and good luck in Lycée. Let's end the night with one final song!"

The students cheer as Marinette hands the mic back. She joins her friends. Everyone in the courtyard dances crazily for the last time together. Sadly, the song comes to an end. Students collect their things before making their way out of the school. Alya and Marinette begin taking everything down. They say goodbye to everyone else. Adrien is the last to leave.

"I'll see you Monday Marinette," Adrien smiles.

"Have a good weekend," Marinette waves.

"I can't believe the two of you are going to spend the whole summer together."

"Working. I'm interning for his father."

"And getting private tutor lessons."

"More work."

"All those hours together. Looking into each other's eyes. Wondering if you could have something more. Someone leans in. And BAM instant boyfriend," Alya claps her hands loudly at the end.

Marinette slightly jumps.

"Well as realistic and romantic as your "bam instant boyfriend" plan is, I think I'll be fine."

Alya narrows her eyes as Marinette turns away to fold some table cloths.

"Is there something you're not telling me?"

"Like what?"

"Another boy."

Marinette flinches at that.

"There is! Why didn't you tell me?! Who is he? Does he go to our school?"

Marinette turns and stops Alya.

"Whoa, slow down Alya. I didn't even say there is a boy."

"But there is, isn't there?"

Marinette bites her lip.

"Maybe, I don't know. Until then, I don't want to say anything. Might jinx it."

Alya pouts.

"You know I'll keep pestering you until I find out."

"Oh I know. Still, I won't say."

"Tell me something at least."

What can she say without revealing too much? She might die if Alya knows about Cat Noir. What will she think? She's crazy? Lucky? Possibly Ladybug?

"I don't who he is."

Marinette is mentally smacking herself. That didn't sound weird at all.

"Why don't you know who he is?"

"Uh… because we haven't met face-to-face."

Technically true.

"Oh I see. An online thing. Are you going to meet this summer?"

"Maybe."

She's thinking about revealing herself to her kitty. Summer would be a good time. But she's still unsure.

"Well, when you do. Let me know. I want to hear all about it," Alya winks.

Marinette giggles.

"I will. Now, are you going to help or do we have to stay here all night talking about boys?"

"Boys are more fun… but I'll help. This mysteriously boy might be waiting to hear from you."

Alya has no idea how right she is.

The school is cleaned rather quickly. Way faster than it took to set up. Once home, Tom and Sabine ask Marinette all about the dance. Afterwards they head to bed. All the kwamis pour out of their hiding spots, also very curious about the dance. They sit intrigued by everything that happened. There's a 'thump' on her balcony. She waits for his knock but it doesn't come. She investigates.

Opening the trapdoor, Marinette finds Cat Noir fidgeting with a small music device.

"What are you doing?" Marinette inquires.

Cat Noir turns with a bright smile on his face. Immediately she notices his black bow-tie. She giggles and steps all the way on the balcony.

"Well aren't you a handsome kitty."

"I aim to please Princess, but I'm completely outshined by your beauty."

Marinette blushes.

"Thank you."

"I love your cat ears and bell especially," Cat Noir flicks her bell.

"All to feed your ego apparently."

Cat Noir takes one of her curls in his hand. He runs his fingers down it.

"I love seeing your hair down."

"You've seen it down before?"

"Uh no. New experience seeing it like this. You definitely are a princess."

"And you are my knight."

Cat Noir plays the music. It's just loud enough for them to hear. He bows.

"May your knight have this dance?"

"Of course."

Cat Noir takes her hand, hanging onto that one, and moving his other to her hip. Marinette's other hand is on his shoulder. Cat Noir pulls her close and moves around the balcony, even with the limited room. He twirls her and successfully pulls off a dip. Marinette's heart races in her chest. She really does feel like a princess.

"You're a great dancer," Marinette notes.

"Practice. It also helps to have a talented partner."

Marinette smiles, a blush dusting across her face. Despite her moments of grace, Marinette is a nature klutz so accidents are bound to happen. As they're spinning around, she trips backwards and pulls Cat with her. Her back hits the rail and Cat's quick reflexes prevents him from knocking into her. Though both their faces heat up at the proximity.

"I'm sorry," Marinette whispers, as if any louder would break the moment.

"Looks like I keep falling for you," Cat whispers back.

Her heart skips a beat at that. Gazing into his eyes makes her melt. What would he do if she just reached up and kissed him? Cat Noir is also lost in her eyes. Ladybug is far from his current thoughts, but if she was, he'd think how his feelings for her can't compare to the love he feels in this moment. Would his princess allow him to kiss her?

Only one way to find out.

Yep, I'm evil. I hate cliffhangers myself, but I like to write them sometimes. Sorry! Hehe. A couple things, in case you have these questions… I think Alya would pick Ladybug over Rena Rogue, to keep her identity safe. Plus she's always been a huge Ladybug fan. Chloe, Queen Bee all the way. Not ashamed to admit her identity over and over again. For now ?Kagami is proud to be Ryuko and I feel like she would pick her.

I know I said Alix and Kim might be a thing, but I'm really feeling Max and Alix. I think they could have an interesting relationship. Again, won't expand much on it. And NO, Félix and Marinette won't ever have some sort of thing. Them dancing together gave me a chance to clear some things.

IMPORTANT: the part where Alya goes "BAM instant boyfriend" came from a movie or TV show. For the life of me I can't remember where! I know it's a thing though. Please if you know or find online (because the internet has not been helpful to me) where it's from, I will be forever grateful.

Lastly, do you guys have interesting dance stories? I'd love to hear stuff like that. Mine are rather boring. Been to many from seventh grade to senior. Never got asked to one by a boy. Not even to prom. RIP my life lol. I need a freaking Cat Noir in real life. Anyway… Hope to hear from you guys! PLEASE REVIEW! Next chapter will be up soon.
