Gear up for Final Exams
Goku was currently blasting his way through a small obstacle course that All Might had Class 1-A partake in. He hadn't even needed to go Super. The race ended and Goku made his way back his homeroom with the rest of his class. To say life had become mundane was an understatement. After the high he was on after the Hosu attack, Goku was excited to get back into hero training at UA. Excitement that quickly diminished with 6 words:
"Your final exams are coming up"
Aizawa had said those words minutes after Goku and Momo had entered the classroom after Goku had given Momo his blessing to call him Kakarot. So, to say Goku was bored was incorrect. He was looking forward to the practical part of the exam. The written part on the other hand…
"Kakarot why don't you come to mine to study?" came the sudden voice of one Momo Yaoyorozu. Goku perked up and looked in her direction as did the majority of the class.
"Huh? You mean it?" asked Goku with gratitude. Momo smiled and flicked a stand of hair behind her ear.
"Sure. In fact, we could set up a support group for the written exam" she suggested. Those of the class who were struggling academically immediately signed themselves up. Goku was pretty sure he had better things to do like train but the thought of getting smarter was appealing. While everyone focused on what day to meet up at Momo's there was one person who had noticed something about Momo's original suggestion.
"Goku. Why'd Yaoyorozu call you by your real name?" came surprisingly from Todoroki. Goku looked at him in shock at the half n half boy actually starting a conversation with him.
"Oh you know. She's like family and I said the only person I would ever let me call me by Kakarot is someone I consider true family. Also I wanted to build trust between the two of us" he explained happily. Todoroki looked…sad?
"It must be nice to have a true family" he finally said.
"Oh let me guess. You and your father don't exactly see eye to eye do you?" guessed Goku correctly.
"You're correct. He's not the greatest role model or father for that matter" came the response.
"Hey at least you don't look exactly like your dad albeit without his scar" laughed Goku with Todoroki giving a puzzled look.
"How is that even possible? You can't be the spitting image of a family member" he questioned.
"I don't get it either! I mean what happened. Did they breed me in a capsule or something? Bahahaha" Goku laughed harder and Todoroki smiled at that joke. Goku calmed down and noticed the smile.
"Guess your fight with Deku changed something inside you huh?" he asked.
"Yes I guess you could say that. I've accepted my fire side. Although I must apologise for not going all out in our fight" he admitted.
"Eh don't worry about it. My anger was all pent up. I took out on Bakugo as you know so consider yourself lucky. Also I apologise for going a tad overboard" Goku returned the gesture. Todoroki smiled at him and Goku returned in kind.
"Apology accepted. Maybe after the final exams we can have a proper fight?" he suggested and Goku's eyes lit up.
"Hell yeah! Let's see how well fire and ice hold up against my Super form!" Goku beamed and Todoroki closed his eyes in content.
"Oh I forgot to mention" interrupted Aizawa. The class looked at him awaiting his announcement.
"Those who pass their final exam will be going on a summer training camp. There you will hone your quirks and learn new ways to use them. So make sure you pass" he explained before his signature evil grin appeared on his face. The class was unnerved by that.
"Alright! So, the support session at mine will take place after school today and for the next few days. If you want the help please come to it. We'll all pass!" announced Momo although on her mention of the word 'pass' Goku sensed a lack of confidence.
"Damn. It's worse than I thought. Got to help her out soon" he made a mental note to himself. The good news was, although for Goku it was also boring, that in the practical exam they would be fighting robots. Kendo from Class 1-B had told them this. However, the universe was once again against them and by universe I mean Aizawa.
"One final thing" he started and the class sighed in annoyance. Aizawa decided to let that slide this time.
"The practical exam won't be against robots this time around. Instead you will be split into teams of two and will be going up against the teachers at UA. You will pass by either capturing them or escaping" he explained and everyone froze. Goku included.
"The…the teachers?" whispered Mina in fear. The class went silent at the prospect except Bakugo of course. He just scoffed confidently.
"You will be paired up with someone whose set of skills complements your own. Then the teacher you go up against will be someone who can easily exploit these weaknesses. Stay sharp in the exam" was Aizawa's last piece of information and advice. Goku scratched his chin and was genuinely intrigued in what his weakness was. He was pretty much unstoppable in combat and had a good grasp on his quirk. Maybe his weakness was teamwork? No that couldn't be it as he got on with everyone in his class. Minus Bakugo.
"Damn I hope I don't get teamed with Bakugo. That won't go well. I'll probably kill him" Goku shrugged.
"I think the teachers are fully aware Goku" smiled Jiro with Goku agreeing. Anyway it didn't matter as he had to focus on the written exam first which he did.
Some time had passed and the support sessions as Momo's were over with the written exam right around the corner. To say Goku felt prepared was absolutely incorrect. Goku was stressing out like nobody's business. Sure he felt he would pass but considering his academic history was mediocre he wasn't holding his breath. Then the day of the written exam arrived and Goku was sure he had failed. The results were handed back to his class and Goku was biting his nails in anticipation.
The class had done well overall. Momo had performed the best with Iida coming in close second. Lowest scores included Kaminari and Mina. Then the time came for Goku to receive his result.
"WOOHOO! First ever paper passed! ALRIGHT!" he celebrated abruptly catching everyone off-guard. Jiro congratulated her friend as did Kaminari. Goku on the other hand had something else on his agenda.
"Yo Momo!" he called to his 'sister'.
"Yes Goku? I heard you passed. Then again the way you announced it meant the whole class knows you…" she was cut off by a hug from the spiky-haired boy in question. Momo, shocked at first, returned the hug.
"This is…nice. I guess he wasn't joking when he said he viewed me as a sister" she thought as Goku pulled away and smiled at her.
"Thanks for everything" he simply stated. Momo looked embarrassed and went to respond that he had earned the grade when Aizawa made his presence clear again.
"Alright congratulations you all passed" he said in boredom as the class sat up straight in their seats and paid attention.
"However, you're not off the hook yet. It's time to reveal your partner for the practical exam and who you will be facing" he finished. He began to read out teams and opponents. Goku listened contently and was interested by some of them. Kaminari and Mina were going up against Principal Nezu. Strange. Iida and Todoroki would be going up against Power Loader who was the head of the support class. Aoyama and Uraraka against Thirteen. Jiro and Koda, the animal lover as Goku knew him, would face off against Present Mic. The next one was slightly worrying. Deku and Bakugo were to go up against All Might which was scary in itself. The main problem with that was how much Bakugo despised Deku so Goku wished them the best of luck. Finally Goku received his teammate and opponent. Him and Momo would be working together which pleased him.
"I can finally help her out with her confiden…" Goku started in thought.
"You two are going up against me" interrupted Aizawa. Goku snapped out of his head and with eyes panicked looked at Momo who had the same expression. He snapped his head back to face Aizawa who smirked. Goku gulped. This was going to be more difficult than he thought.
