Suffering of an Innocent
"Where's Kyoka?!" cried Goku as he burst through the front doors to the dorm. He stopped in his tracks and darted his head back and forth before realising that only Deku, Kirishima, Uraraka and Tsu were present, "Oh uh hi guys?"
"Goku. Right on time" breathed Deku in relief before turning his phone screen around for Goku to see, "We've been summoned you could say."
"Why what's up?" asked Goku in confusion. His fellow classmates looked between each other before turning back to him.
"Something's come up bro. Something bad. Sir Nighteye is calling in multiple pro heroes and our agencies are part of that. Did you really not get a notification?" Kirishima explained. Goku shook his head before looking at his phone. He immediately had a look of disbelief on his face. He had received a message from Mirko that simply read;
"We've got a job to do Spikes. Teaming up with others for this. Hate that. Only just found out. Get your new costume kid. Time to have some fun!"
"Yep. Just got it. Mirko's gonna be on the mission too" Goku said as he rolled his eyes and pocketed his phone. That being said he couldn't help but chuckle. He knew it was going to be fun.
"Mirko? Really? Thought she hated teams." Uraraka mused and Goku waved off her concerns.
"She does. Believe me I know. She'll probably hear them out, agree and then go off on her own. It's what I'd do if I came across a group of powerful enemies you know?" Goku laughed before rubbing his chin, "My new costume huh? I'm not sure if it's finished yet. Besides I need to apologise to Kyoka right away." Goku went to run past the four in front of him but they blocked his path.
"Goku they're all busy. Jiro probably just wants some alone time. You can apologise tomorrow or later. Just give it time" Deku said with his hands out. He'd immediately noticed Goku's body tense and was quickly trying to defuse the situation any way he could.
"Fine. I guess I can wait" relented the spiky-haired boy and with that his body relaxed, "But the moment I get the chance, I'm taking it. I'll change quickly, message Bulma and meet you guys outside. That cool?"
"No worries bro" said Kirishima with a thumbs up. The other three nodded and on cue Goku made for his bedroom to change. He placed his costume in the case, messaged Bulma and ran downstairs again. His phone went off and he pulled it out to check whether his blue-haired friend had replied yet or not. To his joy she had, and it was good news.
"Hi Goku. Ur costume's all good to go! I think it looks great! Come pick it up later if u want. Hope it's what u expected. Can't wait!"
The smile on Goku's face and the glint in his eyes were only outshone by the red outline his body was emanating. He noticed it in the mirror. As he admired it, it suddenly disappeared.
"Oh come on" he groaned. He quietly opened and closed the doors to the dorm where the other four students were patiently waiting for him. With a nod the five of them made for Sir Nighteye's agency.
There were heroes everywhere. Whatever was wrong, it was serious. Fat Gum, Ryukyu, Rock Lock and of course Mirko were a handful of the heroes present. In fact Mirko's presence shocked even some of the other heroes. Her reputation for not working in teams definitely preceded her.
"Didn't expect to see you five here" came the voice of Aizawa as he approached his students who were now in their hero costumes. Goku was still slightly disappointed that he wasn't in his new one, but he wanted to show it off on this mission.
"Mr Aizawa. We didn't know you were going to be here" replied Uraraka in surprise.
"When I'm on hero work call me Eraserhead" was the response. They were soon interrupted by a third party.
"Yo Spikes! What did I say about the costume?!" called Mirko as she approached. Goku scratched the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Well it's finished but this seemed important and therefore took priority. Don't worry though. I'll definitely wear it on the mission" he explained. Mirko rolled her eyes and then grinned.
"You better. You've hyped it up, so you best not disappoint kiddo" she laughed. Goku went to reply but was interrupted by the arrival of Sir Nighteye who beckoned everyone to follow him into the meeting. It was large. Goku took a seat next to Mirko, mostly because she was his mentor and other members of his class had sat near their respective agencies.
"I've gathered you here today to discuss a rather large and unfortunate problem. I'm sure you've heard of the Shie Hassaikai? They're a Yakuza group which is still rather prominent. Under their last leader they weren't regarded a threat," explained Nighteye who sat at the head of the table. His face darkened, "However, this has changed. The Hassaikai have a new leader. One far more dangerous and unpredictable than the last. His name is Kai Chisaki." An image of the aforementioned man appeared on a screen behind Nighteye. Chisaki had shaggy auburn hair parted to the left and gold eyes. He was also pale and appeared slim. On his face he wore a plague doctor mask.
"Looks like trouble" commented Raditz. He was leaning against the wall across from Goku who ignored him, "What's the matter? Did your mentor's little speech actually have an impact?"
"Shut up" Goku hissed through his teeth. Raditz closed his eyes.
"He's right you know. That guy is pretty dangerous. But I bet you already could tell that from his blank expression. He's unpredictable" Raditz shrugged.
"His quirk is called Overhaul, an alias he also goes by. It allows him to dismantle and then reconstruct any physical object that he can touch, be it stone, wood or even another person" Nighteye continued, "Should you encounter Chisaki, stay aware at all times and do not allow him to get in too close. A single mistake could be the deciding factor between life and death."
"Hah! They're acting like he's the main threat. If I were you Kakarot I'd watch out for that guy" Raditz pointed at one of the background images on the screen. It showed a tall muscular man with red eyes, short scruffy hair which was a shade of dark cyan. He wore a dark cyan undershirt, dark purple elbow and knee pads, and dark purple wrist guards. His trousers were dark cyan, and he wore a pair of dark purple boots with black toe-and-heel armour. Over this was a long, turtleneck, dark purple, blue and grey trench coat. He also wore a dark cyan belt with a yellow buckle. Goku's first reaction was that Frieza was alive but there was something that told him otherwise. The guy's age. Frieza had been 18 years old while this guy looked as if he was in his twenties.
"Who is that guy?" muttered Goku. Mirko heard him and turned her head slightly.
"You've clocked him too huh?" she asked silently with a grin. Her blood was pumping already, "He looks strong. Can't wait. This might be worth my time. Hey Nightguy! Who's trench coat there?!" Nighteye scowled very slightly and pushed his glasses up the rim of his nose.
"It's Nighteye. And to answer your other question, we don't know. We believe he is a hired assassin, but very little info is known about him. All we do know is that he is considered by many as the most lethal assassin on the planet. He never misses his mark" Nighteye explained as he had the screen zoom in on said person.
"They have no idea. This guy is gonna tear you to shreds. Chisaki won't even get the chance" Raditz said. He had closed the distance between Goku and himself and was now leaning over Goku's left shoulder, "Have fun brother." With that he vanished as he always did. Goku was left once more with the feeling of whether he was real or not. It didn't matter at the moment.
"It gets worse. We believe Chisaki and the Hassaikai are involved in the production of the quirk erasing drug that has been circulating. Fat Gum has experience first-hand what this drug can do" continued Nighteye who then gestured for Fat Gum to speak.
"He's right. Amajiki here was hit with a dart that temporarily disabled his quirk. If they can manage to perfect the formula we could be looking at a major threat to quirk society as we know it" warned Fat Gum while Amajiki attempted to make himself invisible.
"Hey now hold on a minute! Spikes here was also hit by one of these darts. Why didn't you bring that up Nightbore?" demanded Mirko, slamming her hands on the table as she stood up abruptly.
"I don't concern myself with those unable to properly control their quirk in the first place. It must have been a relief to not have to worry about him going berserk." Nighteye's comment was two things. Unwarranted and a snide comment at that. He meant every word. Mirko's blood went from pumping to boiling in a microsecond. Just as she went to argue back, Goku grabbed her left arm. She glanced down at him and he shook his head. As she went to retort he opened his mouth.
"Leave it. Let that idiot say what he wants. At least I don't rely on tiny little weights to actually fight and deal damage" Goku glared at Nighteye who had heard the comment as had the rest of the table. Goku's comment had left the entire room speechless. He smirked as did Mirko who sat down quickly. Nighteye, with an eye twitching in anger, continued with his talk. As he did Mirko whispered something in Goku's ear.
"Couldn't have said it better myself."
Goku gave a triumphant smile…
That vanished the moment a young girl appeared on the screen.
"Our info all points to this girl having some sort of major connection to the quirk erasing drug. We believe Chisaki is experimenting on her and that her quirk may be related to the drug. We are currently unaware of the child's quirk, but we believe Chisaki has been ruthless in his methods."
It was Goku's turn to get angry. He clenched his fists which were on the table in front of him and began to shake in pure rage. A golden outline manifested itself around him. He flashed back through everything he had experienced growing up and put himself in the girl's shoes.
"No one deserves that pain and suffering. It should just be pushed aside and forgotten about but it's never that easy" he muttered through a growl. Finally he reached his limit. Slamming his hands on the table, Goku shot up in his chair.
"We'll save her no matter what!" he yelled only to notice Togata and Deku had done and said the exact same thing at the exact same time. The latter two looked across the table at him with Goku looking at them in response. There was something in their eyes. Rage, sadness and most of all determination.
"Glad to hear it. If you would please sit down and let me explain my plan" Nighteye ordered with the three boys complying immediately.
"What's got you all worked up kid?" asked Mirko, surprising herself as much as Goku. Goku looked at the table, not daring to turn and face her. She'd see the tears forming.
"She reminds me of myself in a way. She's that young and he's ripping her body apart and putting it back together for his own gain. I won't stand for that. Not when I know what it's like" he replied.
"You were ripped apart and put back together again?" came the reply. Goku mentally facepalmed at Mirko's dense comment. She'd missed his point entirely somehow, "I'm joking you know. On a serious note I get it. I've read your bio. Everything you went through. That Frieza guy and All For One really messed you up as a kid mentality wise. Look I want to take this asshole down too, but I'll give you first dibs. That being said we may not get the chance since we'll be focused on trench coat over there." She smirked and subtly gestured to the assassin. Goku nodded and narrowed his eyes.
"Also don't forget this. It's okay to cry. Emotions make you stronger."
Mirko turned her head away the moment Goku snapped his head to the side to face her. He'd heard her and could only give a small smile. When he listened in on Nighteye's plan he realised he'd missed the entire thing. All except one key aspect.
"Save the girl no matter what."
"Yeah I will. No matter what happens I will save her. I have to."
Author's Note
Hi everyone. We're getting geared up with the raid beginning soon and Goku is about to receive his definitive costume in this story. One I think you'll all like.
Anyway I have a question for you all. Would you rather longer chapters but with larger delays between publishing or would you rather the same length chapters as usual?
Let me know.
Ethan
