What Comes Next

It was finally over. With Chisaki's defeat came the conclusion of the Shie Hassaikai raid and the threat the Yakuza posed to society as a whole. But the day was not without casualties. Countless police officers, medics and first responders had been either killed or badly wounded. Then there was the hero casualties. They themselves were bare minimum with multiple heroes being injured, namely Amajiki, Kirishima and Deku. Togata was badly hurt but his injuries ran deeper. His quirk was gone, erased by the quirk-erasing drug. Above all others there was one person in critical condition and that was Sir Nighteye. To say he was badly wounded was an understatement. His left arm had been severed from his body by Chisaki and he had been impaled through the chest by one of the villain's many spikes. His chances of survival were slim. As for Eri, the girl had passed out as her and Mirko retreated from the final battle with Chisaki, but she was recovering. Then there was Goku.

"Woohoo! This is awesome!" he exclaimed as he flew around the nearby area. He had dropped Chisaki off with the rest of the force and the villain was finally on his way to Tartarus.

"Geez. He couldn't be anymore insensitive could he?" muttered Mirko only for Fat Gum to walk up beside her.

"It's quite a sight to see. I've only really seen him as the 'warrior born from rage' so it's a nice change of pace." Fat Gum had used up all his stored fat during his battle against one of Chisaki's strongest, causing him to appear slimmer than usual, "Though that being said it's about time he stopped.

"Yeah I guess it is. Hey kid! Get down here and power down!" called Mirko with Goku landing in front of the pair mere moments later. He was buzzing and had a massive smile on his face, "Kid I said power down. Don't make me knock you out."

"Like you'd be able to keep up with me now! I'm the hare in this 'Tortoise and the Hare' team now!" Goku laughed only to receive a glare from Mirko that convinced him it was time to revert to his base form, "Okay okay! You win!"

"I always do" Mirko grinned as the red light around Goku burst out slightly and disappeared. Goku began to stretch after the process was complete and breathed out heavily.

"Not always. But I'm too pleased to ruin your moment" he smirked with a wink. Mirko tensed up before giving her signature grin of approval.

"Finally some peace and quiet," she sighed in relief, "What you calling it by the way? Super Joy? Hyper-go-on?!" She snorted in laughter while Goku rolled his eyes humorously. He looked at his right hand and thought back on what he'd said to Chisaki.

"Well this is what transcends a God."

"God."

Both Mirko and Fat Gum shot him questionable looks. Goku clenched his fist and smiled.

"I'm going to call it my God form" he clarified. The confused looks continued and he chuckled, "Cause I'm really powerful, it's got a sort of godly feel to it and I look youthful like Gods who aren't supposed to age physically. Or at least that's what I've been told. Plus it just sounds neat."

"God huh? Seems fair" shrugged Fat Gum as he thought it over, "Though Mirko said you'd been injured pretty badly in the fight, yet I can't see any wounds at all." Goku went wide-eyed and quickly looked himself over. Fat Gum was right. Goku's puncture wounds from Chisaki's attacks had completely healed with no scar tissue or visible mark. The blood on his costume was still present but other than that it was as if they had never existed.

"Does it have healing properties?" he wondered before simply smiling. He felt good and that was enough for him.

Sir Nighteye's injuries had taken their toll. The pro hero passed away with a smile on his face, surrounded by Deku, Togata and All Might. When Goku heard the news he wasn't quite sure how to react. Now that the excitement of his God form had died down he was left with thoughts swirling around in his head. Starting with:

"It was definitely him. I'm sure of it."

Goku was meditating, allowing him to clear his head and hone in on the biggest revelation of his day besides discovering that someone had hired Hit to kill him. He had long assumed that every conversation was just in his head but now he knew the truth. His older brother Raditz was still alive and had been playing him the entire time. He had deliberately been causing Goku to strain his relationship with the rest of his class, especially Jiro which left only one question.

What was Raditz's endgame?

It was puzzling to say the least. Him making his presence known to Goku now rather than years before really threw the teen for a loop. He had assumed Raditz was either dead or never wanted to see him again so why choose now to 'reconnect' with his younger brother.

"He's been watching me for a while. Got to be. No way his plan would've worked otherwise. Then again what was his plan? Help me get stronger?" The Goku had a thought that made him shiver, "What if he hired Hit?"

Hit had said he didn't know the name nor appearance of his client but Raditz did certainly have motivation. He hated Goku for being, as he said long ago, weak. He also felt disgust and rage when Goku's quirk first manifested and initially showed itself as stronger than his, leading to him leaving home following his argument with Bardock. All the evidence plus motivation pointed at him but Goku couldn't shake one glaring from his mind.

Raditz had warned Goku about Hit prior to revealing himself in the open.

That alone meant one of two things.

One. Raditz wanted to somewhat keep Goku safe from harm.

Two. He was using to Hit to test Goku, wanting the killing blow for himself.

Goku wasn't sure which one he liked more. At least the latter seemed more plausible than the first. Besides he didn't have time for that. He was going back to UA tomorrow and there was only one thing on his agenda.

Something he had to mend.

UA was the same as always. Buzzing with life and being plagued by reporters. Nothing of interest had happened regarding UA but the recent attacks were still fresh in the minds of the country. To make matters worse, the League of Villains had attacked again. Not UA this time. No instead they had gone after Chisaki and gotten their hands on the drug the heroes were so desperately trying to keep out of the hands of evil. Chisaki had been found lying down and in visible pain from his hands being removed by the League. It was almost pitiful.

A part of Goku said that he deserved it for all the pain he had caused Eri, but he knew that wasn't the correct way to think. That wasn't the person he was or wanted to be.

The arrival of him, Kirishima, Deku, Uraraka and Tsuyu at the dorms was met with concern. Of course the rest of the class had heard about their part in the fight against the Yakuza. The small group weren't allowed to say what had happened but assured them that they were fine. There was only one person that Goku actually wished to speak to though. He glanced behind the crowd of students and spotted Jiro looking at him sadly before ducking away and heading to her room. Goku immediately felt guilt but solidified his resolve.

"Excuse me" he said as he pushed past the rest of the class who were busy 'interrogating' the others. In fact the only students who weren't taking an active part in this 'interrogation' were Bakugo, Todoroki and of course Jiro. Goku ran up the stairs and nervously approached Jiro's door which was firmly shut. He knocked three times but received no reply. HE then knocked again with the same result.

"Jiro? Can I come in?" Goku asked. He had decided that following the argument the pair had had, he wasn't worthy of calling her by her first name. It didn't feel right given the situation.

"Jiro?" Still no reply. Goku sighed and turned to walk away when the door started to creak open. He turned around to see Jiro standing at the door with tear stains on her face. This told Goku everything he needed to know. As he approached Jiro leapt into his arms and began to cry again. Goku felt his chest getting wet from her tears and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her in tight. The two stood there, neither knowing how long, not saying a word. Yet somehow, they both knew that was all they needed to do.

Author's Note

So, as I said last time this was a bit of a filler chapter, hence the shorter length. Wanted to tie up the Overhaul arc on a happy yet emotional note which is the repair of Goku and Jiro's friendship.

Next up is the School Festival where a certain trio make their debut and the famous 'Hero Too' song is. I'm looking forward to how I'm going to write that chapter. Let's just say it's going to be an experiment.

Till next time,

Ethan.
