Let's see... it's been a while since I had THIS story updated, so why don't we give this one another round? In all seriousness though, when I went to look back at this one, the original versions of the chapters just felt a little... rushed and incomplete. However, I revised the original two chapters before then to the ones you're seeing today, so if you're seeing a different tone in this story than the last two chapters portrayed, this is why. But, here we go again with "Chocolate Cake and Blueberry Pudding", a story I started in 2015, but now coming back to in 2020! Let's see where we can go with this one! Anyway, enjoy!

All in all, it was a pretty normal school day. Aside from a few mishaps from Eugene and a science project he did with Harold, and Rhonda and Nadine having a little squabble over which bug would fit the fashion choices of today, it was pretty much a run-of-the-mill day. But that didn't mean Arnold, Gerald, Helga and Phoebe were without their plans. And so, when it came to lunch, both friends were sitting in different tables, alone as they were discussing each other's plans.

"No way!" Phoebe covered her mouth. "You managed to convince Ice Cream to get a date?"

"Not just A date... a double date." Helga smirked. "I convinced him to invite Chocolate Cake for you."

The petite girl's eyes widened in shock as she covered her mouth. "Uh, what exactly will we be doing?"

"Well, Ice Cream said we were going out to fly kites. Nothing too major." Helga smirked, causing Phoebe to furiously blush even more so than before.

"But Helga, I don't know how to fly kites!" Phoebe said. "I never fly kites, it's not really my thing!"

Helga scoffed a little. "Oh come, on Phoebe, flying a kite can be pretty easy! I've seen Ice Cream do it loads of times when I'm not on my stalking days! And besides, you're the girl that's been studying science quite a lot, so don't give me that guff about you not knowing how flying kites work!"

Phoebe opened her mouth... only to paused as she looked down. "Well, okay, but I don't know the technical terms behind the kite flying."

"Oh, shucks, of course you do! Flying kites is as easy as pie!" Helga said as she put aside her lunch. "It's all a matter of the wind and the miles per hour it can instill... or something along the lines of that..."

Phoebe couldn't help but look at her tall best friend in amusement. Helga gave a slight chuckle, before sighing, "Okay, so I don't know the exact scientific details on kite flying, but hey, I'm a writer, not a scientist. Give me a break!"

Phoebe couldn't help but give a small laugh, "Oh Helga..." Phoebe's face then started to change into a worried expression. "But how could you manage to get me a date for the weekend? It's not technically the weekend!"

Helga scoffed. "That's why you need to make this first move as best as possible!"

"Just consider the idea, Gerald." Arnold said, around the same time as Gerald was eating from his lunch. "Phoebe seems to be VERY comfortable with you..."

"Uh... well, maybe so, but still, does Helga HAVE to come along with us?" The boy with the tall black hair frowned as he put down his sandwich.

The football headed kid gave a small smile, "You let me handle Helga. You just focus on trying to make the first move with Phoebe."

Gerald rolled his eyes. "You say you can handle Helga, but... have you forgotten the last few times you hung out with her? Hmmmm?"

Arnold closed his mouth for a moment before turning his eyes, thinking about what Gerald said as he remembered previous encounters with Helga. "Well... you can't deny that she's actually getting a little better in terms of talking to us."

Gerald nodded a bit, but still had his eyes narrowed over towards the table where Helga and Phoebe were sitting together, talking. "Maybe so, but you have to understand, we're talking Helga G. Pataki here. The same girl who wouldn't hesitate to call you football head on occasion or push you out of the way."

"She's also the same girl who tries to help us on many occasions. You forget Gerald, she does have a heart." Arnold pointed out.

Gerald paused, before sighing. "You really think you can handle Helga?"

"No problem." Arnold smirked. "I've handled her and her attitude a lot of times, what's another one to add to the pile of Helga hang-outs?"

Gerald looked over and shook his head. "I said it before, and I'll say it again. You're a bold kid, Arnold."

After a couple minutes of eating, Gerald looked over towards Phoebe and gave a smile. "You know, maybe during the kite flying segments, maybe I can try and ask her out to somewhere she'd like to hang out..."

Arnold's eyes lit up as he gave a smirk towards his friend. "Now that's thinking I can get behind, Gerald."

"Wh- oh, you!" Gerald rolled his eyes, causing Arnold to let out a small snicker.

"I'm just saying, Pheebs, you need to focus on what's really important." Helga said. "You don't have to fly it good, what matters is that you hang out with Gerald and make that first move!"

Phoebe blushed as she looked down. "Well, what about you, Helga? You're not bold enough to make YOUR first move on Ice Cream?"

"Well, because-" Helga started to say... before taking a deep breath, trying to calm down, not wanting to start a fight or yell. After a few seconds, she started to explain calmly. "Because I'm still nervous that things could go wrong for me. I already built up a reputation as the school's tough girl of the fourth grade. Not as tough as the fifth graders, but tough enough that people don't want to mess with me. But you... you're different, Phoebe."

Phoebe looked up and blushed a bit as Helga started to describe her. "Why, you're a nice girl who doesn't take no for an answer... even if you should... you only stand up for what's right when it's convenient for you... you may be shy, but you're also pretty smart, and you're an achiever... sometimes, you can be a bit of an overachiever, but not in the annoying way like Olga is. In a way, you have quite the stand-out personality. Rhonda invites you more to her parties than she does me..."

"Oh come on, Helga." Phoebe giggled. "You know Rhonda's getting a little better at the party invites."

"Well, maybe so, but you have to keep this in mind..." Helga crossed her arms. "I can't just watch you be silent like a mouse who won't step in and take charge forever, you know? You got to step up a bit, shake loose, have a good time!"

"Do you really think I can?" Phoebe asked, raising an eyebrow.

Helga smirks. "If it means winning my bet..."

"Oh heck no, I'm not letting you win." Phoebe glared at the girl. "I'm going to make sure I ask Gerald out this weekend!"

"And I'll make sure Arnold considers me an option as girlfriend material." Helga snickered.

"You're on." Phoebe smirked.

"That's the spirit." Helga grinned before the bell for ending lunch ended as the two got up. "Well, until three o'clock?"

"Until three o'clock." Phoebe said as the other students started to get out of the cafeteria to head back to Mr. Simmons's classroom, presumably ready for a new lesson in writing.
