Sara Ellis POV
She stared in shock at the appearance of Neal Caffery in the van, about to blow the whole situation wide open as she bet that he was wired up as there was no way they would let him go free without the tracker on. She immediately threw herself at him and cover his mouth just in time, able to hear him try to speak in shock.
Hardison immediately joined her and pulled up Neal's t-shirt, revealing some well-muscled abs. She ignored them and focused on keeping his mouth covered as Hardison turned off the wire, and removed the earpiece so there was no chance that Neal would be able to communicate with the FBI. She did not need them blundering in and messing up the pieces that were already in place. She knew Parker had gone and got the last bit of information that they needed from the FBI, so she should be home free soon.
Hardison immediately threw himself into the driver's seat and drove out of the alley, just seeming to miss hitting Agent Burke with the car. She knew that they would have to get rid of the car and take Neal with them. She carefully reached around her until she seemed to find a piece of silk, which turned out to be a tie, and she tied up Neal's hands in front of him, knowing it would not last long but it would at least keep them insight. She had no idea what Hardison had done with the wire but knew it was no longer in the van.
Before she knew it, they all climbed out of a van and into a minivan, which seemed to be driven by Nathan Ford. He did not say a word about the presence of Neal, so he must have already a plan that accounted for him in some way. They took a roundabout way to the hotel that they had stayed at the first day that was here but quickly headed to a different set of rooms, all of them collapsing at the table, even Neal who obviously did not know what he was getting into yet.
Before anyone could say anything, Eliot was in the room, obviously having heard something over coms in the mad dash that they had taken in order to get here. He spent a moment studying Neal and then did the last thing that she expected: he embraced him. Before anyone could say anything, Neal's arms were out of his bonds, hugging Eliot in turn, obviously relieved to see him again. How in the world did they know each other? Neal was notoriously a nonviolent offender. She had a feeling that this was one of those stories that very few people knew and that she would soon be one of the people finding out.
Peter Burke POV
Peter had had a bad feeling in his gut every since they had decided to cut Neal's anklet due to those stupid leather pants that he had worn, insisting that the look required them. The longer that they had sat watching the club, the more that he realized that Neal was probably right about his outfit choice, not that he wanted to tell him so as he would never hear the end of it.
He got a little nervous when Neal had to accept the second drink, but he seemed to be at the top of his game, seeming to bet an endless amount of people at the pool table, close enough to Halbridge that they could hear him fairly well, once they had been able to get the music filtered out at the right frequency.
He could hear Neal tense for a moment, as his breathing had sped up a bit but then it calmed down, so obviously whatever he had feared had not come true. He gave Neal the code to leave soon after, as they had seen Halbridge exit the club a few moments later and were able to get a license plate number for the car he was in, and someone back at the office was already following him with the CCTV cameras, wanting to figure out if he was going anywhere besides his office and home.
He glanced down at his watch a moment later and grew concerned by the amount of time that had passed since he had given Neal the code word to leave. They should have been seeing him by now and yet they were not, which was throwing up all kinds of red flags. He heard Neal clearly open a door, and then the sound of the music became muted, seeming oddly quiet all of the sudden.
He heard what sounded like a van door open and glanced up, expecting Neal to be climbing into the van but the door stayed stubbornly closed. He tensed his body, straining his ears to hear if there were any more sounds but all he could hear was what sounded like someone being tackled and their mouth being muffled, as he could no longer make out of the words that were being spoken.
Before he could take any action, the microphone cut off completely, and he had the sinking feeling that the wire was completely disconnected now. He hoped that whoever had Neal was stupid and kept the wire, as it had a tracking device embedded in it but he had a feeling that he would not be that lucky.
He jumped out of the van, followed by Diana, as Jones was calling in what they knew so far. He was just rounding the corner of a building when a ven sped by, seeming to take the turn onto the round on two wheels. As they passed by, something was thrown out of the car, and ceased down, less than a foot in front of him. He pulled up his firearm to shoot at the van but they were out of range before he could get off a single shot. Diana had managed to get a few off but they did not seem to hit anything important and were stuck in the back van doors.
He crouched down on the ground to pick up the item that was thrown, trusting Diana to make a note of the license plate number before either of them forgot it. He picked up the object and his stomach dropped. He immediately recognized the device as Neal's wire and earpiece. This case had just gotten a whole lot more difficult.
AN: Hey guys! This chapter was also written the same day as chapter 9 so you are now guaranteed at least two chapters in a reasonable amount of time. This chapter definitely had more action, though we saw the same events from two different points of view but I felt like they were important scenes that needed to take place. Next chapter (most likely) we will find out the full backstory between Neal and Eliot that was mentioned in the summary that I almost forgot existed. No worries, though it still works quite well with where the plot is going thus far. Let me know if you have any suggestions ~Jenn008
