The Angel's Demon

Chapter 4: Taken In

Two dark figures were watching from afar peeking there heads from a nearby street, observing the Dumont estate, they saw Angela, Dante and Mrs. Dumont having some sort of conversation but whatever they were talking about had a negative impact on the two females. They didn't care much about the other female, though they did seem concern when they saw Dante but overall there eyes were fixed on Angela. They smiled to each other, then slid into the darkness as shadows and disappeared.

There was a man sitting alone at a bar, he was sitting on a stool enjoying the cool glass of whiskey the waiter had recently poured into his crystal glass. He was young and handsome, he had wild, dark shoulders length hair that was slicked back, his eyes were like emeralds. His face was angular, strong: he was sporting a dark green collar neck shirt that had the two top buttons loose exposing slightly his ivory skin underneath. To complete his look he wore dark dress pants and dark shoes.

There was a chess set in front of him, he was looking at the piece, he smiled while taking the queen chess piece, it seemed as if he was enjoying an inside joke. Suddenly the two dark figures appeared into the room, bowing before the young man.

"Rise." The man said, he didn't look at them, his eyes still fixed on the chess pieces. The shadow figures got up to look at him.

"Master we have found the treasure that you have been seeking for so long." The shadows said in unison. There white eyes sparkled upon telling him the news. The man intrigued turned to look at them, his eyes unfriendly and cold.

"Where is my so called treasure then?" He asked seriously, his emerald eyes searching the bar.

The shadows looked at one another and spoke together, "master we dare not proceed for she is in the company of one of the son's of Sparda."

"A son of Sparda, ey?" He laughed a hearty laugh, the shadows looked confused at their master's reaction, until he turned to look at them his face consumed with rage, he threw his glass of whiskey at one of them of course since they were similar to ghost specters the glass passed right through them and shattered onto the floor. "I DON'T CARE, FIND AWAY TO SEPARATE THEM!" The room had gone dark and the shadows felt a pressure acting upon their form stretching them out to the point of ripping them apart.

"Master we will retrieve her at once!" They said pleading. The man looked at the pained expressions of his subordinates, relishing their agony but he still needed them, so he released them, the darkness subsided and the room was once again still and lit.

"At once." He murmured going back to take his seat and smoothing the hair that had fallen in front of his face back.

"Yes master we will retrieve the pure Dacelus, excuse us." They said bowing once more, they disappeared once again.

"Excellent, I have all to gain with you." he said taking up the queen chess piece and grinning at it.

Alphonse came into view with a serene smile and gaze. He was holding a set of two towels and was at the entry of the household, "Ms. Angela and Mr. Dante do come inside and dry yourselves, you would not want to catch a cold, hmmm?" He looked upon the two giving them a reassuring smile.

Angela was hesitant to walk inside and of course Dante noticed this. Dante walked ahead of Angela and he turned back to look at her, "c'mon." He said gesturing with his head for her to follow him. He climbed up the stairs but before entering he shook his hair, Angela smiled briefly thinking he looked kind of like a dog.

He took the towel from Alphonse and walked inside. Angela hesitantly walked up the stair but also stayed at the entrance twisting her hair to release some of the water, she looked at her wings unsure of how to dry them. "I'm sorry Alphonse." She said as she entered, her wings leaving a wet trail on the marble floor.

"Do not worry yourself Ms. Angela." He said handing her a towel. "I suggest you two take a warm shower, Mr. Dante the bathroom is up the stairs-" Angela put her hand up.

"I'll show him."

"Do leave your clothes outside so I can dry them, when they are done, I'll leave them at the entrance of the bathroom." Alphonse went ahead of them but turned right and walked towards the kitchen.

Angela walked up the spiraling stairs keeping quiet as she showed Dante where the bathroom was. Dante was just observing her, noticing her saddened features. "So what are you going to do now?" He asked.

"I'm leaving." Angela murmured.

"Where do you plan to go, got a boyfriend's house you can stay at?" He teased trying to lighten the mood. Being in a downcast ambient was never much Dante's style.

"No, I just need to be somewhere far away, beyond reach." They past a window while reaching the second floor and Angela stopped in her tracks and looked up at the sky but like Dante had mentioned earlier there was no chance of the sun reappearing soon. She sighed and continued to walk. She turned left and Dante didn't say much afterwards, he just observed with his ever blazing blue eyes.

"Here we are." Angela said stopping in front of a door, she kept her gaze low, she stepped to one side and walked up another plight of stairs.

After a steaming shower, Dante got dressed and exited the bathroom, he took a towel still drying his hair. Alphonse was nearby dusting the a table with some china decorations on it. "Where's Angela's room?" Dante asked him, Alphonse turned to look at him his expression not too happy. Dante rolled his eyes, "I'm not being inappropriate. I have to be acquainted real well first or not… Never mind, where's the phone?" He threw the towel in the bathroom and closed the door, Alphonse just shook his head manifesting disapproval.

"There are many phones distributed around the house, one in the kitchen another in the family room just to name a few." Dante went down the stairs and as he walked down the spiraling staircase he heard a song being played on the piano, it started off slow and then it began to pick up pace.

Dante skipped over the kitchen and walked towards the family room where he remembered the piano was located and there she was, Angela playing the piano, she was seated upright, her wings huddled around her, next to her seat was a bag, no doubt she was getting ready to leave. This piano piece was her farewell to this place. She seemed so focused and relaxed in a way.

In fact when Angela was worried or stressed she would sit and play the piano, considering these past few days had not been kind to her this was a welcomed change. Her shower wasn't relaxing in the least, the wings made it so. She didn't have much clothes that went with her current appearance so she wore a halter top and some dark jeans. She continued to play not giving anything else much thought.

Dante didn't disturb her and walked back to the kitchen. He felt compelled to help her, he could and probably was the only one that could. He dialed Morrison and asked him to pick him up. He walked back and noticed that Angela had finished playing and was closing the piano and patted it. She grabbed her bag and turned around and was startled by Dante.

"I didn't know you were here." She said blushing, Dante was looking attentively at her, his arms folded across his chest and he was leaning against the entrance wall.

"You are quite the talent, that was a pretty nice jam. Any other hidden abilities that I should know of?"

"Not that I know of." She said looking at her fingers. "Well I'd better get going the rain has stopped." She said grabbing her bag and walking back to the entrance of the room. Dante stretched his arm out to stop her. Angela looked at him confused by his sudden reaction.

"How about you come and stay at my place?" He asked nonchalantly.

"I'm not sure that would be wise." Angela said, she didn't know anything about Dante but Morrison seemed to trust him. Dante had also protected her from that crazy, demonic wolf and what was that feeling she had sensed from him, she was curious and everything seemed to lead that she could in fact trust him.

"I am in charge of protecting you and their might be someone who just may know a thing or two about you, that is the new you." He said knowing that this would most likely convince her, not to mention he could keep a closer eye on her and figure out what it was those demons wanted with her.

"Alright," Angela finished deciding, "but I don't mean to impose." She didn't know in what circumstances Dante was living in and she was aware that her being their could be a bother. She was always very considerate of others.

"Trust me I already value your company more than many other woman…" He said thinking about Patty, Trish and Lady and how they all abused him as in taking his money, sending him the bills, breaking things, yelling at him, etc. Angela didn't understand what Dante meant by many.

Alphonse rushed by them walking to the main entrance and opening the door. Angela walked alongside Dante figuring it was probably Morrison who had arrived. Alphonse stood at the door he held two umbrellas one he handed to Dante and one to Angela, "everything will be alright Ms. Angela." He said to her with a light smile. Angela was a little confused as to why Alphonse treated her still without so much as little fear but dismissed the thought and was quite happy he treated her the same.

"Take care of my mother Al." Alphonse nodded. She opened the umbrella and walked outside with her bag in hand.

"I thought it was just you who I was suppose to pickup." Morrison said to Dante, as he saw Angela walking out. Morrison was surprised to see what Angela looked like as well, he had known her since she was a little girl but he tried as best he could too act normal. "Where are you planning to go Angela?"

"Dante has asked me if I wish to stay at his home and I agreed to it." She said walking over to the back of the car to load her bag.

"That's uncharacteristically kind of you Dante." Morrison said, suspicion was the look he gave Dante.

"I am an outstanding citizen of Capulet city after all." Dante said smirking, he got into the car's front passenger seat and laid back, if Angela and Morrison kept conversing outside he would take advantage of the situation a get a nap in.

"Angela, I believe you would be more comfortable if you stayed at a hotel or my home." Morrison argued.

"Morrison, I'm sorry I have made up my mind and plus I don't quite fit in with society at the moment." She said looking at her wings. Morrison sighed, he looked at her and nodded. "Fine." He was unhappy and didn't like the idea of her with Dante, he was irresponsible and went through many dangers on his mission, dangers that could eventually catch up to her.

Angela appreciated Morrison's concern for her well-being, he was after all like her second father, one that was almost always there for her.

They boarded the car and drove off. The ride was silent, Angela was surprised to see Dante asleep, this crazy demon slayer was peacefully napping as if nothing had happened. Angela tried to relax but her wings made it impossible, they were just too large and took up all the back seat space.

The car turned and sloshed into a couple of puddles on the lane until they reached an alley except it was much larger and their was a building at the end. "Devil May Cry?" Angela whispered as she saw the neon red sign.

"Now Angela," Morrison stopped the car and turn around to look at her, " if you happen to change your mind about staying here or need anything give me a call."

"Okay." She nodded and exited the car, Morrison went to the trunk and handed her-her bag. She climbed up the stairs and waited for Dante.

Dante was waking up from his nap when he heard the door open and close. He stretched his arm and turned to look at Morrison who had a serious expression, "make sure to protect her." Dante just looked at Morrison and got out of the car.

The car drove away and Dante walked up the stairs and pushed the doors open, "welcome to the Devil May Cry estate." Angela shyly took a step forward, what concerned her was why didn't Dante lock his door.
