This was inspired on a moment from the book Scream Street; the Nightwatchmen. (but it's still meant to be from the cartoon's canon) X3 For some background, I plan to make another fic about Cleo turning herself into a living mummy so she can age with her friends. This 'living mummy' would be called a Sand Shifter. The icon for this fic is my design for what she would look like as a sandshifter.
WARNING; slightly dirty jokes ahead.
Tea Party of Tears, alternately titled "I'm way to proud of my own jokes."
Luke, Cleo, and Resus are around 15.
"Ok, I'll send you into her dream, then you'll have to wake her up from there." Eefa stated as she got out the snake skin required for the spell.
"Just like when me and Cleo saved Resus." Luke commented as he and Resus held out their hands for the dreaming spell.
"No, it isn't like the last time. There isn't a bear or object to throw away. The potion randomizes her dream, you'll have to figure out what breaks the dream." Eefa continued.
"She just had to walk into the shelf!" Resus snarked.
The young werewolf chuckled, "Well, for once it's not me."
"It's still going on your tab." The witch deadpanned and started the spell.
"Wait, why me-" He and Resus fell asleep before he could finish his complaint.
Luke sat up quickly, he was in some sort of a bedroom. He looked around groggily, getting off the floor as he did. The room was full of baby blues and white lace. He saw movement out of the corner of his eye, a girl was on the bed. She had long black hair, pale skin, and pink eyeshadow. She wore a loose dress with long wide sleeves, it was a very light pink with lace flowers all around it. She sat up and looked around groggily. She looked over and saw Luke.
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
They both asked at once, and the second Luke heard his own voice, he knew what was going on. And the look on the girls face only confirmed it.
"Resus?!"
"Luke?!"
They both snapped with concern.
"We're girls!" Luke took a step back; this was getting very weird very fast.
"Maybe we're just very cross-dressed right now…" Resus reasoned, trying to remove the flower crown from his head, which simply wouldn't come off.
Luke looked Resus up and down and squinted with doubt; "Yeaaah, I think this is more than just a cross dress situation…"
"The dream couldn't at least given me a cool outfit!? I look like sleeping beauty!" Resus snapped, looking up and sarcastically extending his arms, like that would make the dream feel guilty.
"Aww, you're not scared of some flowers, are you?" The brunet mocked.
"Oh, like your one to talk! You look like if Alice from wonderland took some ecstasy." Resus snapped.
"I-what?!" He stepped back and into the view of a nearby mirror, he had a baby blue dress with puffed sleeves and a frilly apron. He had white socks with lace at the top, and black snap on shoes. He also had white lace gloves with pink bows. But worse than that was his hair, it was curled to the max and had pink bows on either side. And the pink blush was a true terror as well. He panicked and tried to smudge off the blush and pull out the ribbons, but nothing would budge.
"It won't come off!" The dress was one thing, the bows and blush were another.
"The dream won't let us!" Resus snapped.
Luke groaned in disappointment and annoyance, he looked at himself in the mirror once again.
"Your right through, I do look like Alice on crack." He deadpanned
The two walked out the bedroom doors and into the hallway, it led to a grand staircase. At the bottom was a long white table with stuffed animals in the chairs.
Cleo sat at the very end, her head resting on her hand as she fiddled with a spoon and teacup. She was dressed a lot like the queen of hearts; A red and black dress with white lace, and a large lace collar. She had black hearts on her cheeks and red lipstick. Her hair was in a tight bun and she had a tiara decorated in hearts, aces, spades, and diamonds.
Luke had to admit, aside from being depressed, she looked really cool.
"CLEO!" The boys started running down the stairs towards her, but Resus tripped on her dress and started falling down the stairs, pulling the werewolf down with him. The two tumbled down the stairs, landing in a hurt, dizzy, pile at the bottom.
Cleo raised a brow; she could practically see the little stars flying round their heads.
The struggled to get off the floor, running to Cleo when they finally could.
Luke ran nest to her and attempted to explain; "Ok, Cleo, you might not believe this at first, but this is a drea-"
"It's a dream, yeah, I know." She interrupted.
Resus raised a brow. "How did you know?"
"If this was reality, I would have escaped by now. Every time I try, I wake up back in this pastel prison." She responded dryly. "Also, I've had like 3 spontaneous musical numbers already, it was kind of fun outside of the whole 'being stuck in here' thing."
Luke; "Dang, three musical numbers?"
Resus; "She's been busy."
She calmly poured herself some more tea, or at least, what looked like tea. Maybe it was cola, it seemed a little bubbly. "Now, I'm forced to just wait here until my friends figure a way to get me out. They'll be here any time now….hopefully." She sighed with annoyance, and likely boredom as well.
"Uh, Cleo, it's us." Luke gestured to himself and Resus. "Luke and Resus."
"And how do I know you're not just figments of my dream?" She raised a brow.
"We helped save you from Otto when he tried to take your heart…twice." Luke reasoned.
"Well that doesn't prove anything! This is my dream, my head. You'd know anything that I would!" She crossed her arms and furrowed her brows.
Luke; "So, we have to prove it's actually us, which out using anything that you know?"
Cleo nodded; "Yeah, pretty much."
Luke; "….Well damn, I got nothing."
Resus whipped around and looked at him with astonishment. "What?!"
"She's right though. This is her dream; it has all her memories. We've got nothing!" Luke stated with defeat.
She smiled; "Now I know it's actually you two, you've just proved it."
Luke; "How?"
Cleo; "If you were from my dream, you'd be a lot smarter."
"Hey!" The two boys protested.
"So, how do I get out of this bore fest?" Cleo slammed down the cup.
Luke rubbed the back of his head awkwardly "Uhh, well…"
Cleo faltered; "You don't got a plan, do you?"
Resus crossed his arms; "Nope."
Cleo groaned and laid her head on the table in defeat/annoyance.
Luke sat in the chair next to her, pushing a stuffed rabbit out of the way. He rested his head on his hand and thought about the situation. "Well, there's three of us now, so one of us is bound to figure out what breaks the dream." He tried to cheer her up.
She turned her head to the side and looked up at him for a few minutes with a blank expression. She then looked at his chest.
Luke; "Yeah, our outfits are dumb, I know."
There was a moment of since, then she looked back up at him.
Cleo; "….You're very flat…"
Resus burst into laughter as a blush crawled across Lukes face, who crossed his arms over his chest.
"Oi! Eyes up!" Luke snapped with a red face.
His response made her start laughing as well.
Luke was about to protest some more, when he noticed black cracks forming at the tops of the walls, the other two hadn't noticed. He smiled deviously as an idea came to mind. He got from his chair, and turned to face Resus
"Well, since you two think I need it, why don't you lend me some, Resus. You got plenty to spare." He smirked as he watched Resus go from laughing to speechless stuttering, Cleo howling with a new round of laughter.
Resus's face burned as he looked for something to say back, not sure how to respond. He looked his friend up and down, if this was the game he was going to play, Resus had no choice but to play it. Finally, an evil grinch smiled dawned his face.
"Well of course you can borrow some, but only if you lend me some hips!"
Luke tried not to laugh, which made Resus start to snicker. It was starting to become funny, even to them. Cleo slapped her knee in hysterics, laughing at what might be the stupidest conversation she had ever seen. Luke could see the cracks furthering their reach on the walls, it seemed to be working. Luke continued;
"Come now Resus, don't get your corset in a twist!"
Resus; "I would tell you the same thing, but clearly you don't own any!"
Luke; "Who needs a corset when you got a girdle!"
Resus leaned on the table because he was laughing so hard. Cleo was absolutely cackling, her eyes starting to water. The brunet walked past them, facing away from them he fiddled with something on the table.
Luke snickered; "Resus might wear a C cup,"
He turned around, holding tea cups against his chest by the handles.
"But I wear tea-cups."
The three of them burst into howling laughter. Luke fell to his knees, the tea cups rolling away as he dropped them. Cleo slipped off the chair, tears running down her face. Resus slipped off the table and onto his stomach, cackling all the while. Through his tear-filled eyes, Luke could see the walls crumbling and the room slowly turning black.
The next thing they knew, they were waking up in Eefa's shop. They were still laughing; it was hard to stop.
The red headed witch was looking at them like they were psychotic.
"You three have been laughing in your sleep for like 3 minuets now. It was quite creepy…and that's coming from a resident of Scream Street!"
They took deep breaths as they tried to calm down enough to explain it to her, but when they finally could speak, Resus muttered very quietly;
"Tea-cups."
And they all burst into laughter again. Eefa raised a brow before walking away, leaving the trio to their giggle fit.
