I decided to go ahead and skip "Still" anyway. But Daryl and Beth will be in this episode.
Episode 13- Alone
Kenny and the others were staying in a small abandoned warehouse that they found and secured. It was in the middle of the night and everyone was asleep. AJ was sleeping next to Clementine. Becca was the only one still awake. She was sitting in the corner by herself. Becca felt angry and completely alone now that the only person that was close to her in the group was gone. She wasn't close to Kenny or Mike, she hated Clementine, and Sarah was just useless and dumb to her. Becca needed to take her anger out on somebody and Sarah was the perfect person for that.
Becca slowly got to her feet while glaring at Sarah Clementine, who had woken up when she heard Becca get up, was watching quietly. Becca drew her knife and walked over to Sarah. She was standing right over her when Clementine spoke up. "What are you doing?" She asked.
The sudden voice startled Becca and she quickly put away her knife. "Nothing. I-I mean, I thought I heard something." She said.
"Then why are you standing over Sarah? Why did you have your knife out?" Clementine asked suspiciously.
Becca just stared at her for a moment and went back to her sleeping spot as Clementine watched her. Clementine knew exactly what she wanted to do.
(Intro)
Maggie, Jane, Amanda, Sasha, and Bob were in the forest surrounded by walkers. It was so foggy that they couldn't see where the walkers were, so they stood back-to-back to watch every side. A walker came out of the fog in Bob's direction and he stabbed it with his knife. More started coming out towards Amanda, Maggie, Jane, and Sasha and they started killing walkers as well. Amanda used her sword, Sasha used a large stick, and Jane and Maggie used their knives. A walker managed to grab Bob and he was bitten near the shoulder. "Bob!" Sasha shouted. A walker knocked Maggie to the ground and she started struggling with it. Amanda stabbed it through the head with her sword.
"Thanks, Amanda." Maggie said as she was helped up.
"Oh, Bob..." Sasha said tearfully as she knelt next to him.
As Bob was checking where he was bitten at, he started smiling. "It's okay. He got me right on the bandage. Sasha started laughing in relief and started hugging Bob, but stopped when she realized he was in pain.
"I didn't say stop. I just said ow. Just said ow." Bob said, smiling. The rest of the group smiled at their cute interaction.
Daryl was teaching Beth how to use his crossbow. "Are we close?" Beth asked.
"Almost done." Daryl said.
"How do you know?" Beth asked.
"The signs are all their. Just gotta know how to read 'em." Daryl said.
"What are we tracking?" She asked as they started to walk again.
"You tell me. You're the one who wanted to learn." Daryl said. Beth started looking at the ground for clues.
"Well, something came through here. The pattern is all zig-zaggy. It's a walker." Beth said smiling, knowing she's getting better at it.
"Maybe it's a drunk." Daryl said.
Beth just smiled. "I'm getting good at this. Pretty soon I won't need you at all." Beth said, aiming the crossbow.
"Yeah, keep on tracking." He said, following her.
They came across a walker, maybe the one they were tracking, eating something. "It's got a gun." Beth said. Daryl nodded for her to approach the walker. She started walking slowly towards it while aiming the crossbow. While walking her foot got caught in a snare trap and she fell to the ground in pain. She tried to shoot the walker in the head with an arrow but missed and hit the shoulder. Daryl grabbed the crossbow from her and butted the walker in the head, killing it. Daryl went to Beth and removed the trap from her foot. "Can you move it?" Daryl asked. Beth moved it around. "Yeah."
"You ready?" Maggie asked, ready to go.
"We should wait till the fog clears." Jane said.
"We've been waiting a lot." Maggie said.
"You see all this? We got lucky. We need visibility." Jane said.
"She's right, Maggie. We have a better chance waiting it out. We've got six bullets left." Sasha said, checking her pistol.
"They're right. We've been doing good following the plan. No need to get sloppy now." Bob said.
Maggie took out her compass and looked at it in disappointment. "What is it?" Amanda asked. Maggie tossed the compass to her.
"It's broken." Maggie said. The four girls sighed.
"We don't need it. Sun comes up in the east, sets in the west. We'll keep an eye on it in between. We'll be fine." Bob reassured. The rest were still unsure.
Kenny, Clementine, Mike, Becca, and Sarah were getting ready to leave the warehouse and move on. "Everybody pack your things and do it quick. We have maybe a few hours of sunlight left." Kenny said, loading his bag with supplies and ammunition.
Clementine went over to Becca, who was packing her bag. She just stared at her and when Becca noticed her, she stared back. "Are you going to say something or not?" Becca asked frustratingly.
"I know what you were going to do last night." Clementine said, folding her arms.
"Do you?" Becca asked, folding her arms as well.
"I'm not stupid, Becca. I know you were trying to do something bad to Sarah." Clementine said.
"And what exactly are you going to do about it?" Becca asked.
Clementine grabbed Becca by her shirt and leaned in close to her face . "Sarah is my best friend. If you ever put your hands on her it won't end well for you, Becca. Remember that." Clementine whispered angrily, still holding onto her shirt.
Becca wasn't intimidated. "You gonna kill me? You don't have it in you. You think you're so tough because you've survived out here for a long time, but you always had people taking care of you, I bet. You don't have what it takes to kill." Becca got closer to Clementine's face and stared intensely into her eyes. "But I do." She said with a smirk. "Now if you could let go of my shirt, I can finish packing." She swatted Clementine's hand off her and walked away as Clementine looked back at her angrily.
Daryl and Beth were coming across a graveyard and and a chapel next to it. Beth was holding on to Daryl because of her injured foot. "Can we hold up a sec?" Beth asked holding her foot.
"You all right?" Daryl asked.
"I just need to sit down." She said.
"Here. Hop on." He said, lowering his back.
"Are you serious?" Beth asked amusingly.
"Yeah. This is a serious piggyback. Jump up." Daryl said. Beth climbed on his back. "You're heavier than you look." Daryl said, carrying her.
"Maybe there are people there are people there." Beth said.
"Yeah, if there are, I'll handle them." Daryl said.
"There are still good people, Daryl."
"I don't think the good ones survive."
The two of them came across a grave that said 'Beloved Father'. Thinking of Herschel, Beth got down to mourn it. She grabbed Daryl's hand. While they were looking down at the grave, an African American man caught their attention from behind. "Excuse me." He said with his hands raised. It was an African American man wearing a tan police uniform. Daryl turned around and aimed his crossbow at him while moving Beth behind him.
"Who the hell are you?" Daryl asked.
"My name's Andre. I'm friendly. Just please put your crossbow down." He said with his hands up.
Daryl slowly lowered his crossbow. "What do you want?" He asked.
"I need your help. At my chapel." Andre said.
"What kind of help?" Beth asked.
"I've been holding out in the chapel since this all started. The fortifications I made were doing quite well for a while. Recently, walkers have been taking down the fence. I mean, we can't fix the fence, but we can set up some other alert system." He said.
"What if I don't trust you?" Daryl said.
"That's okay. I wouldn't expect people to trust a complete stranger who strolled up to them and asked for help. But I'm a nice guy. You can trust me. I give you my word." Andre said holding his hand out.
"Daryl." He said shaking Andre's hand.
"I'm Beth." Beth said, also shaking his hand.
"Let's get to the chapel." Andre said, leading them his way.
Maggie, Jane, Amanda, Sasha, and Bob exited the forest to the train tracks. Immediately, Maggie noticed a sign. "What's that?" She asked, walking over to it.
"Terminus?" Amanda said.
"When we were out on the run to the veterinary college, we heard a message about this on the radio." Bob said.
"They were broadcasting?" Amanda asked.
"What did it say?" Sasha asked.
"Couldn't make it out. I only know because I'm seeing it now. 'Those who arrive survive'." Bob said.
"We should go." Maggie said.
"I thought we were looking for Glenn." Sasha said.
"If he saw one of these, he would go looking for me looking for him. Look at this map. All these tracks from different directions are leading to the same place." Maggie said.
"It's far. And we don't know if there are other signs." Jane said.
"You don't think this is the only one?" Maggie asked.
"This is the best lead we've had so far. It says sanctuary. That's just another reason to try." Amanda said.
"Amanda's right. Others from the prison could be there. Tyreese." Bob said.
"If it sounds too good to be true...Maybe if Glenn saw one of these, maybe he felt the same way." Sasha said.
"He wouldn't. He'd believe. I know." Maggie said.
"(sigh) What do you want to do, Sasha? Keep making these circles from the bus? Or are you talking about us starting to do something else? We're not splitting up. That can't happen." Bob said.
"You want to take a vote or something?" Jane asked.
"We don't need to vote." Sasha said. She started walking down the tracks towards the direction of Terminus. The rest followed.
Andre led them inside the house. "It's so clean." Beth commented.
"I've been tending to it. Trying to keep this place as clean as possible. It helps me cope with the way things are now. When I'm in here, I'm reminded of what life used to be like." Andre said.
"It's a nice place." Beth said.
"Mind if I show you two around?" He asked.
"I got it." Daryl said aiming his crossbow. He started to look around the house with Beth while Andre followed along.
They went down some stairs into a small room in the basement. There was a dead body on a table. It was dressed up in a suit and only half of it's face was like a walker. "This was already here when I found this place." Andre said to Beth when he saw her interest in the body. Daryl had went straight to the cabinets to look for supplies for Beth's ankle.
"Let's get that ankle wrapped." Daryl said. He saw that Andre and Beth were looking at the dead body on the table. "Looks like somebody ran out of dolls to dress up." Daryl joked.
"It's beautiful." Beth said seriously. "Whoever did this cared. They wanted these people to get a funeral. They remembered these things were people before all this. They didn't let it change them in the end. Don't you think that's beautiful?" Beth asked.
"Indeed." Andre said.
Daryl just looked at her and slightly nodded. "Come on." He said so he can start wrapping her ankle.
Sasha, Bob, Amanda, and Jane were sitting by the fire. "Where's Maggie?' Bob asked.
"Getting more firewood." Jane said. "Still bleeding?" She asked.
"Barely." He answered.
"So tell me, Sasha…" Amanda said.
"Tell you what?' Sasha asked.
"You think we should stop. Tell me why." She said.
"To not die. You, Maggie, Bob, Jane, me." Sasha said.
"Yeah, that's not it." Bob jumped in.
"What?" Sasha asked harshly.
"I don't think you know why you want to stop." Bob said.
"Bob, what happened this morning, we get warnings." Jane said.
"Come on, Jane. We did fine." Bob assured.
"We get warnings. And the next time it's on us. Odds are Glenn is dead. Odds are we will be, too. That's the reality. We got six bullets and you're still bleeding." Jane said. Bob started to get up.
"Bob, those tracks, they run through towns. The first one we see, we find a building, some higher ground to set up in. All of us. That's what we need to do. That's what we're gonna do if we can talk her into it. Just think about it. Same goes for you, Amanda." Sasha said.
"I thought my brother was dead and that turned out not to be true. I don't know where he is now, but...I won't give up on Maggie. I know Glenn's still out there. So is my brother." Amanda said. Sasha and Jane just looked at each other and sighed.
Daryl and Beth were looking around the chapel kitchen for food. They opened up one of the cabinets and discovered a whole lot of untouched food. "Wow, Andre. How did you get so much food?" Beth asked.
"There was already a lot of food when I got here. Feel free to take whatever you need." Andre said.
"Look at this. Peanut butter and jelly, diet soda, and pig's feet. That's a white trash bunch right there." Daryl said.
"It all looks good to me." Beth said, grabbing food.
"Wait, hold up. Ain't a speck of dust on this." Daryl said.
"Well, as you know already, I like to keep everything clean in here. and I'm trying to preserve as much as possible." Andre said.
"Okay, we'll take some and leave the rest." Daryl said and started to eat jelly out of the jar.
"Eww, Gross." Beth laughed.
"Hey, those pigs feet, those are mine." Daryl said.
"Go ahead. I was saving that for when I'm desperate." Andre joked.
Later, Andre was helping Daryl set up a string of cans outside on the porch so they'll know if any walkers showed up. "Why do you still wear that?' Daryl asked, referring to Andre's police uniform. "I knew a guy who was a cop. He took his uniform off a long time ago." He said.
"It takes me back. Back to when I had a family to come home to everyday." Andre said.
"Does that radio still work?" Daryl asked.
"I would think not. Even if it did, I doubt there's anyone to respond." Andre said sadly.
"Probably not. Come on, let's get inside." Daryl said going back inside. Andre just looked at the ground nervously and then followed him inside.
Sasha woke up in the morning and saw that Maggie and Amanda were nowhere to be found. She got up to see Bob looking at a sign in the dirt. It read 'Don't Risk Your Lives 4 Us. Good Luck'.
"Bob." Sasha said.
"Come on. They got to follow the tracks. We can still catch up to them." Bob said, starting to gather their things. Sasha and Jane just stared at him. "Sasha, Jane, we can still catch up to them." Bob repeated. Sasha and Jane reluctantly started helping him pack.
Maggie and Amanda were walking down the tracks towards the direction of Terminus.
"You really think Glenn's gonna go there?" Amanda asked.
"Of course. He has to." Maggie answered.
"Hopefully my brother, LeRoy, is going there." Amanda said. The two of them came across another Terminus sign.
"We need to put up some kind of sign for Glenn. If we let him know to go to Terminus, he'll definitely go there. LeRoy too." Maggie said. Amanda spotted a walker coming their way and drew her sword.
"Hey, check this out." She said. She ran up to the walker and sliced it's head off. When it fell to the ground, she started cutting open the walker's stomach. "Look, free paint." Amanda joked. Maggie smiled at her.
Sasha, Jane, and Bob were walking down the tracks towards Maggie and Amanda's direction. "You have been grinning since we left the prison in one piece. If you're so happy to be alive, then why are we walking into the heart of darkness?" Jane said.
"It's not about me being alive." Bob said.
"Do you even know why you're smiling?" Sasha laughed.
"Oh, yeah. I'm not alone. That's how it happened when I lost my first group. And my second group." Bob said.
"That's why I stayed away from groups for a while. They'll only slow you down." Jane said.
"You were with us for months." Sasha said.
"Well that's because I was lucky enough to be in a group that knew what they were doing with a good leader. A roof over our heads and fences to keep walkers out. It was a nice community. But that paradise is gone now and I'm back on the road fighting off walkers all the time." Jane said.
"So what are you gonna do now?" Sasha asked.
"I'm gonna see how this goes first. See if this group won't fall apart." Jane said.
"Well I broke that streak. You'd be smiling too, Sasha. Self-awareness is a beautiful thing. You should try it sometime." Bob said. Sasha didn't say anything. "Oh, you're not gonna take the bait?' Bob asked.
"Nope." Sasha answered.
"You're just as bullheaded as she is sometimes. You know that?" Bob said. The three of them stopped when they saw a walker on the ground with it's stomach cut open. They walked up to it then looked up to see a sign written in blood that said 'Glenn. LeRoy. Go to Terminus. Maggie and Amanda'. "Yeah." Sasha said.
Daryl, Beth, and Andre sat down at the table to eat. "All right, let's eat." Daryl said. Before they started they heard the cans rustle outside. Daryl and Andre drew their weapons and went to the door. Daryl looked outside but didn't see anything. He then opened the door and saw that it was a dog. "it's just a d**n dog." Daryl said. "Hi. Come here, boy." Daryl tried to pet the dog but it ran away.
"Well that sucks." Andre said.
"He wouldn't come in?" Beth asked walking over.
"I told you to stay back." Daryl said.
"Yeah, but, Daryl, you said there was a dog." Beth smiled.
"Maybe he'll come back around, come on," He said.
Later on at night, the three of them were eating dinner. Beth was writing a thank you note to Andre who strangely left the house for something. "I'm gonna leave a thank you note." Beth said while writing.
"Why? Just thank him when he comes back." Daryl said.
"If he comes back. Even if he's not coming back, I still want to say thanks."
"Maybe you don't have to leave that." Daryl said. Beth looked at him. "Maybe we can stick around here for a while. He comes back, we'll just make it work. He helped us, so let's see if we can be any help to him." He said.
"So you do think there are still good people around. What changed your mind?" Beth asked.
Daryl hesitated. "You know." Daryl said.
"What?" Beth smiled.
"(mumbles) I don't know." Daryl mumbled.
"Don't…(mumbles) I don't know. What changed your mind?" Beth asked. Daryl just looked at her. "Oh." She said softly. They then heard the cans outside rustling again and heard the dog. But this time it sounded like the dog was in distress.
"I'm gonna give that little mutt one more chance." Daryl said getting up.
Daryl blindly swung open the door only to be confronted by a ton of walkers. He quickly slammed the door shut but some walkers managed to get stuck in the door. "Beth! Beth!" Daryl yelled. She tossed Daryl his crossbow. "Run! Run!" He shouted as he let the walkers in and started luring them his way. "Beth, pry open a window! Get your s**t!" He yelled.
"I'm not gonna leave you!" Beth shouted from another room.
"Go out. Go up the road. I'll meet you there. Go!" He said, stabbing walkers and luring them in the basement.
Beth climbed out of a window and started running as fast as she could. Suddenly, Andre pulled up in a car that was being driven by another police officer and got out. He grabbed Beth and started pulling her towards the car. Beth started screaming and kicking. "What are you doing?! Let me go!" She screamed.
"I didn't want to have to do this!" Andre said. He knocked Beth out with his pistol and put her in the trunk of the car. "Go! Go! She has a friend!" Andre said to the other cop as he got in just as Daryl ran up. He first saw Beth's bag on the ground then saw the car take off.
"Beth! Beth! Beth!" He yelled as he ran after the car.
Daryl was running after the car for hours. It was long gone but he wasn't giving up. Eventually, he started walking. Then minutes later, he stopped in exhaustion and just sat down in the middle of the road with his crossbow next to him.
Sasha, Jane, and Bob came across another sign from Maggie and Amanda. "They're keeping to the tracks. If we pick up the pace we'll catch her." Bob said. They continued walking for a few more minutes and spotted a warehouse.
"Bob, Jane, right there. Secure and high up. See if we can set up something to catch the rain. See if we could move from the rooftops to look for food. Maybe even try to grow some up there." Sasha said.
"I'm not stopping." Bob said.
"We are." Jane said.
"I'm not. They're out there alone." Bob said.
"They have each other. They can defend themselves especially Amanda with all those weapons she got." Jane said.
"They didn't want us to come anyway. They made their choice for them." Sasha said.
"I don't care. They're alone. When I got to the prison, I thought to myself, 'How long? The clock's ticking. How long until everyone else is dead and I'm on my own?' Bad things happened 'cause I was scared. They didn't need to. I didn't need to be afraid. Now we get to Terminus and Tyreese isn't there, it doesn't mean he's dead. Or the others. You don't need to be afraid." Bob said.
"I am not afraid." Sasha said harshly.
"I've been out here like you, Bob. But we see being alone as two different things. If you don't want to stop with us, then don't." Jane said. The three of them were silent for a moment.
"So this is it?" Bob asked.
"It doesn't have to be." Sasha said.
"That's right." Bob said. "I'm gonna try something here." He added. When Bob leaned in to kiss Sasha, Jane through her hands up.
"Are you two seriously gonna do this now?" Jane asked irritatingly. After Sasha and Bob's kiss, Jane started walking towards the warehouse but stopped again. "Well? Are any of you coming?" She asked.
"You don't have to do it. You don't have to be alone again." Sasha said.
"I won't be." Bob said, walking away. He started walking down the tracks again towards Terminus. Sasha just watched him sadly.
"Come on, Sasha. Let's get to that building." Jane said comfortably.
Sasha and Jane entered the building and continued up the stairs. It was really quiet up there. Sasha was still sad about Bob. "It wasn't your fault he left. You two just had different views on the situation." Jane said.
"Let's just set up for tonight." Sasha said.
"Let me look outside. See what our view is like." Jane said and went to the window. She looked out the window and saw Maggie and Amanda sleeping next to a bunch of walkers and surrounded by different cars. "Sasha, come look. It's Maggie and Amanda." Jane said.
"What are they doing?" Sasha asked. She put her hand on the window but it popped out of frame and smashed on the ground below. The sound woke up Maggie and Amanda and lured any walkers in the area. "Oh, s**t. We got to get down there." Sasha said when she saw walkers coming towards Maggie and Amanda. They grabbed their weapons and ran down the stairs and out of the building.
Jane started stabbing walkers with her knife and Sasha climbed onto a car and started stabbing walkers with her long stick. Maggie and Amanda ran over and Maggie started slicing walkers with a road sign she found and Amanda started stabbing and slicing walkers with her sword. The 4 girls then all stood back-to-back and started killing walkers from all sides. Amanda cut down the last walker. They all caught their breathe. "Where's Bob?" Maggie asked.
"He's out looking for you two." Jane said.
"Why are you here?" Sasha asked.
"We were looking for another walker. Found more than we wanted. You know, I was lying there and I remembered-I heard what you said back at the camp. I heard you say you thought we should be in a town." Maggie said.
"What else did you hear?" Jane asked.
"That odds are Glenn is dead. And we should stop. But you're wrong. Both of you." Maggie said.
"So why are you here?" Sasha asked.
"'Cause I was waiting for you. I'm not giving up." Maggie said.
"I know my brother is still alive. He's survived way worse. He's a true survivor. We'll found him and Glenn." Amanda said.
"We'll need your help. Both of you. 'Cause we can't do this on our own. And even if we catch up to Bob, the three of us can't do it alone. We need you and Jane. I thought that I couldn't ask you to risk your life. But I can. 'Cause I know what you'd be risking it for. And it isn't just Glenn or LeRoy." Maggie said. Sasha didn't know what to say. "I get that you're afraid. I am." She added.
"I am afraid." Sasha admitted.
"I'm not afraid." Jane said.
"So we could get there." Maggie said.
"I know. So let's go get Bob...and let's get there." Jane said. Maggie smiled at her.
Daryl was still just sitting on the road when a group of guys surrounded him. "Well, lookit here." The leader said. Daryl slightly looked up at him. The man tried to grab Daryl's crossbow but Daryl punched him in the face, sending him to the groud. He then aimed his crossbow at him. The rest of the group drew their weapons on Daryl. "D**n it, hold up!" The leader stopped them.
"I'm claiming the vest. I like them wings." A guy behind Daryl said.
"Hey, come on, Nate. He ain't done nothing yet. What if he's useful?" Another guy said.
"Shut up, Danny!" Nate said.
"Hold up." The leader repeated. He wiped the blood from his nose and then started laughing hysterically. He finally stood up. "A bowman. I respect that. See, a man with a rifle, he could have been some kind of photographer or soccer coach back in the day. But a bowman's a bowman through and through. What you got there, 150-pound draw weight? I'll be donkey-licked if that don't fire at least 300 feet per second. I've been looking for a weapon like that. Of course I'd want one with a bit more ammo and minus the oblongata stains." The leader said.
Nate laughed. "Get yourself in some trouble, partner?" Nate said.
"You pull that trigger, these boys are gonna drop you several times over. That what you want? Come on, fella, suicide is stupid. Why hurt yourself when you can hurt other people? Name's Joe." The leader, Joe, said.
Daryl finally lowered his crossbow. "Daryl." He said. The rest of them also lowered their weapons.
The girls finally caught up to Bob. "Bob." Maggie said from behind.
Bob smiled when he heard her voice and turned around. The 5 of them group-hugged each other. "Let's go." Bob said. The 5 of them continued down the tracks.
(Outro)
Very sorry this took so long. I was kind of burnt out with writing for a while but I'm back at it! Also, I didn't know what to do with the Andre character but I've figured it out. Remember to REVIEW! :)
