#SHESBACK
I know, I know... For those who are still following this story - Happy reading! I'm trying to finish it all ASAP so I can refresh and start Underrated. Life's been hard, but I know what I want to do and that's write.
The Unholy Trinity
"Last night seems like it was months ago." Eli said as he stared at himself in the mirror. "But I still have this damn black eye." He sighed.
"At least it doesn't look at bad as it did yesterday." Delanie said, causing Eli to jump.
"What are you doing in my room?!" Eli asked.
"This hotel only has one floor." Delanie crossed her arms. "It wasn't hard to find your room."
"So much for privacy." Eli said.
"There's no time for privacy here." Delanie said. "I came to talk to you about something very important."
"Did you find out what I said to Kat?" Eli asked.
"What?" Delanie looked at him.
"Oh! Wait what are you here for?!" Eli nervously said.
"We need to be on the same page." Delanie said. "Maddie and Vincent are all over each other and he needs to be the next one out."
"I agree." Eli nodded. "One hundred percent."
Delanie smiled. "Boys like Vincent don't belong on Total Drama. They belong in the gym, practicing for whatever sport and dating the hottest and easiest chick they can. He doesn't deserve to be here."
"What about girls like you?" Eli said to her. "Who already have money and fame. What more could you get out of life by being on this show, Delanie?"
"Hey," Delanie got very offended. "Watch what you say, four eyes. You're very lucky that I didn't kick your little ass out as soon as I got back in this game. In fact, you're lucky that the black eye on your face isn't because of someone like Vincent beating on you."
"It was just an honest question." Eli said. "I just wanted to know why someone like you, or Kat for that matter, would be on a show like Total Drama. Are you here for publicity? Did Chris want better ratings?"
"Me being here has nothing to do with you or Chris' ratings." Delanie said. "I'm here for me. To become a better me."
Eli raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything.
"Now let's stop talking about this and get our heads in the game, Eli!" Delanie said. "Don't be idiotic. I'd actually like to take you to the final three and have you fight Kat for that second place spot."
"Really?" Eli wasn't buying it.
"Of course." Delanie said. "Those two lovebirds have got to go and you're much easier to predict than that Nolan is."
"Wow, I don't know what to say." Eli said.
"Well, you kind of have to accept." Delanie said. "There's no better scenario for you. You can't bring Vincent and Nolan with you. And once they're gone, Maddie has no numbers."
"I guess I do have to accept, then." Eli said. "I'm at your service." He bowed.
"I knew you would." Delanie smirked. "Practice saying the name Vincent in your spare time. You'll be saying it very soon at the next elimination."
"I sure will." Eli smiled wide.
"Good." She cheerfully exited.
Confession Cam:
(Eli) "People like me and people like Delanie would never associate with each other in the real world. But here, someone with a personality like Delanie's... Rich, spoiled, evil... They need people like me to help them." He shakes his head. "And of course she thinks that she's the better person here, but people like me, who are quiet and nice to people like her are smarter than they think... I hope all you future Total Drama contestants are taking notes."
(Delanie) "Yes, I'm very aware that Eli is the reason I went home last time. But hey, if it wasn't for that I might not have made it this far. Either way, he'll get what's coming to him in the final 3." She winks.
Kat sat in front of her mirror doing her makeup. She looked very tired and depressed. After a few applications, she just burst into tears. "That's seven." She cried to herself. "I'm never going to finish getting ready."
A knock at the door. "Kat? It's me Maddie. Please tell me you're awake... That you're here."
"I'm here." Kat said, but it almost sounded like a whisper. She opened the door for Maddie.
"Hey." Maddie instantly frowned when she saw Kat. "Oh no, Kat. You look horrible."
"Tell me about it." Kat sighed.
"I sat at breakfast waiting for you but you never showed up. I wanted to see how you were doing." Maddie said.
Kat shrugged. "I don't want to leave this room."
"I brought you a plate of food." Maddie smiled and offered. "Some pancakes and eggs."
"Thanks." Kat cracked a smile and accepted the plate. "You're so nice for doing this."
"I'm just a little worried about you." Maddie said. "Are you okay? Do you want to talk about anything?"
Kat sighed. "Last night... I feel like I really suffered a heartbreak." She sat on her bed and Maddie joined her. "I know I'm not in love with Colin and that we never really dated, but when he left I felt like a piece of me left with him."
"It looks like all of your happiness left with him." Maddie said.
"He was the only one who... I don't know. Made me happy. Excited to be here. To keep going." Kat said.
"I know how you feel." Maddie said.
"Do you really?" Kat turned away. "You don't. You don't have to be without Vincent because he's still here. And nobody is stopping you from being with him."
Maddie sighed. "I guess not."
"I feel so betrayed by Delanie." Kat teared up again. "It's like Delanie ripped my heart out of my chest and didn't even feel bad about it."
"But she didn't control him leaving..." Maddie said.
"But she did!" Kat said, crying. "She pushed me to have him work with us! She purposely chose the longest path to make sure he was the last person to cross that finish line! She planned it all!"
"How do you know all this?" Maddie said, rubbing her back. "How can you be this sure?"
"Eli told me everything." Kat sobbed.
"Eli?" Maddie thought.
"Yeah!" Kat said. "I guess she's been talking strategies with him all along!"
"Wow," Maddie said. "I can't say I'm surprised."
"She hasn't even come here to see if I'm okay." Kat cried in Maddie's arms. "I have to get revenge, Maddie. She's always gotten her way in this game."
"She did get voted out before though." Maddie pointed out.
"But she came back... I want to see her cry." Kat admitted.
"She'll cry as soon as we vote her out." Maddie said. "Don't stoop to her level."
"But I want to." Kat said with anger. "I want her to pay for what she did to me. She's manipulated me all season."
"Well... what do you want to do?" Maddie asked.
Kat sighed. "Well, I've been thinking, and... I wanted you to help me get her to fall for Vincent."
"What?! That would never happen!" Maddie exclaimed.
"Hear me out." Kat looked at her. "Please."
Maddie wasn't sure. "What did you have in mind?"
"I want to try." Kat said. "I want her to fall so hard for Vincent, but have him be torn away from her... By you."
Maddie jumped back. "I don't know..." She said. "I don't want to be involved."
"I don't know what else to do." Kat sighed.
"Don't do anything." Maddie said. "I know you. You have a good heart and you would only regret it. We'll just vote her out. We have the numbers long as she doesn't win."
"I just... Want her to feel like how I feel. Embarrassed, on national TV." Kat said.
"Okay..." Maddie said. "I'll bring it up to Vincent and see what he says if you really want me to."
"Okay." Kat nodded.
Confession Cam:
(Maddie) "I don't know how I feel about Kat's proposal, but as a friend I guess I have to try and make her feel better." She shrugs.
Nolan sat in his bed with his die in front of him. "What, do I do, now." He said as he picked up the die and rolled it around his fingers.
Confession Cam:
(Nolan) "I never expected my friend Colin to go home. It changed my entire game." He looked at his die. "I can't work alone according to my die, so I need to align with someone else, but who?" He held up his die and smirked. "That's where you come in."
Nolan rolled the die and hesitated to look at where it landed. "Oh no..." His nerves shot up.
"Vincent!" Maddie knocked on Vincent's door. "I need to talk to you about something."
Vincent opened up. "Hey Maddie. What's up?"
"Can I come in?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah, of course." Vincent stepped aside. "Make yourself at home."
"Okay, so Kat is on the same page as us with wanting to get Delanie out as soon as possible." Maddie sat down.
"Really?" Vincent sat next to her. "What made her change her mind so soon?"
"She's pretty sure that Delanie had something to do with Colin's elimination. She really liked him, Vincent." Maddie sighed. "And that's why I'm here. Because she asked me to ask you to help her get revenge."
"Oh really?" Vincent chuckled. "Kat Larson, the sweetest girl ever, wants revenge on someone?"
"Yeah, and she kind of... Wants you to do it to Delanie." Maddie said nervously.
Vincent got serious. "Do what exactly?"
"Well, she kind of wants you to flirt with Delanie and make her fall for you and then break her heart." Maddie said.
Vincent shook his head. "No, no I would never do that. It's cruel. And I don't need any more girls falling for me this far into the game."
"I tried to tell her that." Maddie said and reached for his hand, but he got up.
"There must be another way to get revenge on her." Vincent said. "Something that doesn't involve me."
"Exactly." Maddie said. "I tried to tell her that."
"Like, I don't know." Vincent said. "Maybe she has a fear of something or a secret she wouldn't want anyone to know."
"Right." Maddie smiled. "Everyone does. We just have to find out what it is."
"Yeah." Vincent said.
"I'm gonna go swim a couple laps before the challenge." Maddie said. "Wanna come?"
"I actually have to shower." Vincent laughed. "I'll catch you later though, Madz."
"Okay." Maddie smiled and left.
Confession Cam:
(Maddie) She is a bit concerned. "The way Vincent said he doesn't need any more girls falling for him is making me have second thoughts about my relationship with him. Does he even like me the way I like him? I've never really thought about this until now."
Nolan rolled his die a couple times, clearly frustrated with the outcome each time. A knock came on his door and he got up to open it.
"Surprise." Eli said, walking in. "It's me."
"I'm actually not surprised at all." Nolan said.
"Look, I know I might be the last person you want to see right now, but I need to know a couple things, please." Eli looked around the room.
"Of course." Nolan nodded. "Have a seat."
Eli sat on Nolan's bed. "I just wanted to know if you would finally open up about where your head is at." He said. "The numbers are dwindling down and-"
Nolan nodded. "I actu-"
"Have you finally changed your mind about me?" Eli asked. "Or, sorry, have you ROLLED to trust me?"
"Actually," Nolan was interrupted again.
"Because now that Colin's gone, you and I are up against two pairs." Eli held two fingers up. "I need you, Nolan. Delanie has Kat. Vincent has Maddie. I'm alone. You and I are both alone."
"Eli-"
"What are you gonna do now that your ride or die is out?! What are you-"
"Eli." Nolan finally stopped him. "Will you work with me from now on?"
Eli was shocked. "Really?" He shook his head. "I mean yes! Of course!" He bounced up and down, excited. "Okay, I definitely feel like we should get Vincent out first. Then after him, we shou-"
"Whoa there." Nolan stopped him. "We'll have to see how the hand is dealt."
"Your die? But what if you roll to vote me out?" Eli asked.
"I can't." Nolan said. "That's why we're now allies."
Confession Cam:
(Eli) "Nolan couldn't have rolled my name at such a better time!" He claps happily. "So now that its 2 on 2 on 2, we have to lure another group of two to have the advantage. And this is perfect!" He smiles harder. "Because I already have Delanie fooled!"
"Hello final six!" Chris smiled as they all stood in front of him. Behind them were three identical helicopters and they all looked at them inquisitively. "As you can see, there are three helicopters behind you. And that means one thing."
"It's another race." Nolan said with no emotion.
"It's a triathlon." Maddie said nervously.
"It's gonna be a dangerous challenge." Delanie rolled her eyes.
"Well, you all aren't wrong." Chris rolled his eyes. "Yes, it's that time of the season again! Time for another triathlon!" Chris rubbed his hands together deviously. "Anyone wanna guess what the teams will be?"
"Me and Vincent?" Maddie smiled and clung onto him.
"And I'm obviously working with Kat." Delanie said, arms crossed. Kat frowned and did not look in her direction.
"Ha, nice try." Chris chuckled. "But not quite. Teams are as follows," he cleared his throat. "Vincent and Delanie."
Delanie snapped her head toward Vincent. He tried to smile at her.
Confession Cam:
(Vincent) "This is going to be a loooong day."
(Delanie) "Great! Now I don't even have to worry about him winning... Cause I'll throw it!" She laughs.
"Eli and Maddie."
They both nervously looked at the other.
Confession Cam:
(Eli) "Oh boy."
(Maddie) "Oh boy."
"And finally, Nolan and Kat."
"Exciting." Kat nervously chuckled.
Confession Cam:
(Nolan) He shrugs. "Could be worse."
(Kat) "Nolan is so intimidating to me. You can't ever tell what he's thinking about... I'm so nervous." She rubs her arms. "I really have no idea what to expect."
"Alright!" Chris rubbed his hands together as Chef handcuffed the pairs together. "Let me explain the challenge to you guys. Make sure you listen because I'll only explain it once. Behind me are three helicopters. As you may have guessed, the first part of the challenge will be a helicopter race!"
"Do you know how to fly a helicopter?" Maddie asked Eli.
"No." Eli looked down, distressed. "I wasn't trained for this."
"No frets!" Chef said. "The helicopters are easy to navigate using the autopilot mode!"
"Thanks Chef." Chris said. "Yes, autopilot will be your best friend for the first part of this triathlon. You will have to fly for as long as you can until you run out of jet fuel. The catch is that each of these helicopters have a different level of fuel, so some pairs will make it farther than others right off the bat."
"How do we decide which. pair gets which helicopter then?" Vincent asked.
"It'll be completely random." Chris said. "You'll just have to duke it out. Anyway, once you run out of fuel and crash, you'll have to catch a train to the water, where I'll be waiting. Each team will get something that will either help or hurt you in the third part of this triathlon depending on the order of arrival. That's all I'll say for now. Good luck!" He said as he walked toward a luxury express train up ahead.
"That's it? That's your fancy triathlon?" Maddie asked.
"Wait till you see what I have planned for the last part." Chris chuckled and disappeared.
"Remember not to uncuff yourselves!" Chef shouted back. "Or you automatically lose!"
Delanie lifted up her and Vincent's handcuffed arms. "I already can't wait till this one's over."
"We have to get started to finish." Vincent said.
"So how are we going to decide who gets which helicopter?" Maddie asked.
"I say we let Nolan roll on it." Eli said.
"No way." Delanie said. "That's risky."
"I don't see why not?" Maddie said.
"Seems fair to me." Vincent shrugged.
"Are you kidding me?" Delanie said. "He'd just roll it and pick whichever one he wants."
"There's no way of knowing which helicopter has the most fuel just by looking at them." Nolan said.
"Let's just do the die roll." Kat said.
"Ugh, fine." An annoyed Delanie crossed her arms.
Nolan rolled the die with his free hand. He rolled it again. "Okay. Vincent and Delanie get the helicopter on the right. Eli and Maddie get the one on the left. We get the middle one, Kat." He said.
"No way that was random." Delanie said. "I want the middle one."
"It doesn't matter." Vincent said. "Let's just get on."
The three pairs went along with their designated helicopters.
Nolan and Kat hopped in and buckled their seatbelts.
"Not full but not empty." Kat noted. "Must be the middle one! Not bad, Nolan!"
"Thanks." He nodded.
"Let's get this show on the road!" Kat smiled while pressing the autopilot button.
"This is not good." Eli said, pointing at the fuel meter. "We got the least fuel." He tried to face palm but Maddie's arm restricted him, causing him to hit his eye instead. "AGH!" He yelped in pain.
"Are you okay?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." Eli breathed. "We should get going."
"For sure, for sure." Maddie nodded.
They both just sat there.
"So..." Eli looked at her.
"So..." Maddie looked back at him.
"Do you have any idea how this works?" Eli smiled nervously.
"No." Maddie frowned.
"Okay." Eli looked at the controls. "Um, it shouldn't be that hard to figure it out, right?"
"I guess not." Maddie said. She pressed a button and the lights starting flickering. "Oops."
"No worries!" Eli said. He pressed a different button and the helicopter started going up. "There we go!" He smiled. But then the helicopter slammed down on the ground, shooting them off their seats. Then the helicopter started doing this up and down motion, shooting them around the inside of the small helicopter.
"There are- so many- buttons!" Maddie shouted. "I have no clue- which one to press!"
"Maybe we should- should press- the one that says- says AUTO!" Eli pointed.
Maddie tried to use each bump to get her closer to the button. She finally reached it and slammed her hand down on it, causing their helicopter to fly up and forward.
"Whew." Maddie wiped a bead of sweat off her forehead.
"I feel so dumb." Eli shook his head.
Confession Cam:
(Eli and Maddie) "The damn button was red and bigger than all of the other buttons!" Eli said. "I should have seen it right off the bat."
"I didn't see it either." Maddie said. "And I do consider myself to be very smart."
"Smart, maybe." Eli said. "Not very... What's the word that means paying attention to detail?"
Maddie shrugged. "I dunno."
Eli looked at the camera. "Exactly, people."
Vincent and Delanie stepped in their helicopter.
"Woohoo!" Vincent smiled. "We got the one with the most fuel!"
"No way." Delanie stared at the fuel meter.
"Yeah!" Vincent sat in one of the seats.
Delanie took a seat in the other. "We have a lot of time then."
"There's no time to waste." Vincent said. "I've been wanting to go to Camp Wawanakwa since we started! I'm so happy that I get to finally see it!"
"If you survive this challenge, that is." Delanie said.
"We have to survive it together." Vincent said as he pressed the AUTO button.
As they started to fly, Delanie reclined her chair and closed her eyes. "Wake me up when we're out of gas, okay?"
Vincent just looked over and frowned. "Okay.." He said very quietly and just looked ahead.
"...And this entire time I've been going back and forth and back and forth trying to pretend that I'm perfect. That I'm okay." Kat sighed. It seems like she's been talking to Nolan for a long time.
"That must be really difficult for you." Nolan said. His eyes were closed.
"You have no idea." Kat said. "It's like everywhere I go, I'm always expected to be a certain way, to act a certain way and be a good person and role model. But people make mistakes. I make mistakes. But nobody really gets that when you're a teen celebrity. And some try to break that mode by rebelling and acting out. But I'm not like that. I'm not fake."
"I'm still listening." Nolan nodded.
"I just want to grow up." Kat nodded. "I want to evolve. I want to be my own person, make mistakes and grow and change into a better version of myself. But nobody lets me."
"Who's holding you back?" Nolan asked.
Kat chuckled. "My team. My parents. Even some of my fans. Everyone wants me to stay the same. It's like I can't grow up."
"Of course you can." Nolan said.
"I'm just... scared." Kat sighed. "I'm sorry Nolan. I've just been talking and talking and talking. I'm probably putting you to sleep right now."
"No. You aren't." Nolan nodded. "I'm still here with you. Listening."
"It's just. I don't know. There's something about you that screams trustworthy to me..." She looked at him. "Do you want to talk?" She asked. "Maybe tell me about your life, or why you keep your eyes closed like that?"
Nolan turned his head toward her and opened his eyes. With his free hand, he pulled out his die, and dropped it in between them. He looked at it, then looked at her. "I'm the middle child. I like to gamble if you haven't noticed, I don't have any sisters and I can fry up a mean fish and chips."
Kat smiled a bit. "And why do you keep your eyes closed?"
"Can't tell you that much." Nolan smirked.
Kat laughed. "Well... I know we just started talking. But, if you want, I can be your sister."
"I'll think about it." Nolan said while turning his head back up and closing his eyes again.
Eli and Maddie were just sitting back quietly, letting the autopilot run its course.
"So..." Maddie broke the silence. "Want to tell me about yourself?"
"What would you like to know?" Eli eyed her.
"I don't know..." Maddie shrugged. "Anything you want to share. Since we've both made it this far, we might as well get to know each other."
"Are you sure you're not just trying to get a weakness out of me?" Eli frowned, immediately regretted his question.
"No!" Maddie said. "I'm just trying to work with you here. I do actually want to get to know you."
"Really?" Eli started to smile.
"Yes!" Maddie smiled back.
Confession Cam:
(Eli) He sighs. "If there's one type of person you can't trust, it's people like Delanie, who are the most popular girls in school. But right after those come the athletes! And Maddie's a swimmer... I can't just give up personal information to her! I had to make sure."
Maddie's head popped into frame. (Maddie) "I'm right here, you know."
"Well I did!" Eli shrugged.
"Well..." Eli thought. "My parents are dentists."
"Really?" Maddie asked. "That's... cool."
"You don't really care." Eli frowned.
"No, I do!" Maddie said. "It's just... Well," She looked around. "I almost lost my teeth once!" She smiled.
"Did you now." Eli wasn't amused.
"Yeah!" Maddie said. "It was a nasty skiing accident. Landed right on my chin! It's actually how I got this." She tilted her head back and showed him a scar under her chin. "Lucky for me, the only tooth I lost was one of my molars on the side."
"That's an interesting fun fact." Eli laughed.
"Also, I love triathlons!" Maddie said.
"So you HAVE to win this challenge don't you?" Eli smiled.
"Well, ideally yes!" Maddie laughed. "But Chris' triathlons are nothing like the ones I do."
"Of course not." Eli laughed. "His are sick! How dare you just throw some teenagers on a helicopter and make them fly it." They both laughed.
Then, their helicopter stopped in mid-air.
"Huh?" Maddie looked around. "We stopped moving."
"Oh." Eli pointed at the meter, which showed that they were all out of fuel.
They both looked at each other, then screamed as the helicopter plummeted to the ground.
Confession Cam:
(Eli and Maddie) They both look pretty beat up. "I thought his black eye was bad, look at this!" Maddie said as she held up her arm, which had a pretty bad bruise on it.
"We definitely should have been checking up on that meter." Eli groaned.
"But we were having a pretty good conversation!" Maddie said.
Eli nodded. "Yeah, we were."
"I agree though." Maddie looked at him.
"So yeah." Eli said. "After that fall we had to follow the train tracks on the ground to the nearest station."
"It took a while." Maddie said.
Eli and Maddie finally arrived to the next train station stop. They were both out of breath.
"Okay," Eli said. "We have to hop on the next train to Ontario."
"Yes!" Maddie said. "But-"
"But where are the train schedules?" Eli looked around. The station stop was so small that there weren't any schedules in sight.
"Lets ask him!" Maddie pointed to a box office with a person behind it, reading a magazine.
"Great idea!" Eli said. They rushed to the box. "When's your next express train towards Ontario coming?" Eli asked the station clerk.
"The express train to Ontario comes every six hours." The clerk said in a monotone voice without looking up from his magazine.
"Six hours?!" Eli exclaimed. "That's too long!"
"Sorry." The station clerk said before closing the blinds.
"Are you kidding me?" Eli sighed.
"We've been having the worst luck." Maddie said.
Just then, a loud train whistle was heard in the distance.
"Or the best luck!" Eli said. "That must be the train!" They rushed to look toward the train but both groaned when they realized it was a freight train, traveling at a slow pace.
"Great." Maddie sighed.
"You know what?" Eli looked around. "Lets just jump on it."
"What?! Are you nuts?" Maddie said.
"It's either this or last place for sure." Eli said, pulling her along. "And you know how Chris is with people who come in last in these racing challenges. It might be a double elimination for all we know!"
Maddie sped to keep up with him. "Okay, okay. Lets do this."
They both watched as the train got closer and closer to them and they prepared to jump.
"Ready?" Eli asked.
"Yes." Maddie nodded.
"3, 2, 1, JUMP!" They both jumped and landed in one of the carriages.
"Heck yeah!" Eli exclaimed. "We did it! High five!" He held up their handcuffed hands. They both laughed.
Back to Vincent and Delanie. Delanie was still laying back and Vincent just sat there awkwardly.
Confession Cam:
(Vincent and Delanie) "This helicopter ride is pretty awkward." Vincent said.
"I'm right here." Delanie said.
"Well don't you think so?" Vincent looked at her.
She shrugged. "Is it so bad that I don't want to talk to you right now? Do you want to talk to me?"
"We are a team." Vincent said. "And I think-"
"Listen to me Vincent." Delanie turned to him. "I know you don't like me. You don't have a reason to. So you don't have to pretend that you do, because odds are when we both go home and watch this season, we'll see exactly how much any interaction we might have here is a waste of time."
"But-"
"Look, I do apologize for sounding harsh." Delanie said. "But I'm just being honest. A lot of people here who have been eliminated, whether I had anything to do with it or not, were dishonest. Now, I may be dishonest about certain things, but I'm not fake." She smiled at him, causing more confusion.
Vincent leaned over and tapped Delanie. "Hey."
"Are we here?" She got up.
"Yeah!" Vincent pointed. "Just in time, too. It looks like a train is about to leave. We had more than enough gas too!"
"How convenient." She yawned. "Do you know how to land this thing?"
"I was hoping for the best." Vincent said while pressing a button.
"Oh gosh." Delanie said. "Do NOT kill us."
"I won't!" Vincent shot back.
"Nolan... NOLAN." Kat shook him awake.
"Whoa." Nolan shot up. "What's going on?"
"You passed out I think." Kat said. She pointed out the window. "There's a train up ahead that looks like it's about to leave and it looks like people are ahead of us and we aren't going to make it."
"That doesn't sound good." Nolan shook his head.
"What do we do?" Kat asked.
Nolan hesitated before taking a look. He gulped. "We need to get closer to the train. I mean, we need to descend as soon as possible."
"Are we going to make it?" Kat asked.
"No." Nolan said. He looked at her and at their handcuffed wrists. "Remember how I said I like to gamble?"
"Yeah." Kat got nervous.
"Do you want to be safe?" Nolan asked her.
"Of course." She replied.
"Well, this is going to be fun." Nolan rolled his die.
"What's going to be fun?" Kat looked down.
"We're risking it." He unbuckled his seat belt.
"You want us to jump out?" Kat shook her head. "Are you crazy?! Is that even safe?!"
Nolan shrugged. "We have to. Who knows what will happen if we don't try."
Kat shook her head. "Okay. I won't fight you." She said reluctantly. The train started. "Oh no. We missed it."
"Not yet." Nolan smiled. "I love a good gamble. We have to be precise. Open the door."
"I can't believe I'm doing this right now." Kat said as she opened it.
"I think we're close enough." Nolan looked down, then at Kat. "Can you lead the jump?"
"Me?!" Kat shook her head. "I can't."
"Kat, I can't do it. Please." Nolan closed his eyes. "Count it down."
"Okay." Kat looked down. "One. Two. Three!" They jumped and screamed together until they landed on top of one of the trains carriages. The helicopter they were on falls to the side and explodes.
Confession Cam:
(Nolan and Kat) "That was so awesome!" Kat exclaimed. "The adrenaline I just got from that was freaking amazing!"
Nolan nodded. "That was pretty badass."
"I know why you kept your eyes closed now." Kat smirked. "You're afraid of heights!"
Nolan raised his eyebrows. "Surprise." He said dryly.
Delanie sat next to Vincent and watched as he dozed off and on. Every time he closed his eyes, she tried to fidget with the handcuffs.
"What are you doing?" Vincent asked.
"You know what?" Delanie sighed. "I can't take this anymore. We're winning."
"Isn't that a good thing? I mean, don't a lot of people want you out?" Vincent asked.
Delanie gave him an ugly look. "Please don't. I literally can't stand your presence right now just because you said that. Reality check, Vincent. Everyone wants you out next except for your precious girlfriend. And even she's thinking about getting rid of you." She struggled to undo the handcuffs but he kept trying to move them around.
"That's not true." Vincent shook his head. "Why would people want me out? I'm loyal. I-I'm nice, I-"
"You're a threat." Delanie said calmly. She nodded. "Yes, you're loyal. You're nice, you have all these good qualities. You're like the strongest teenager I've met. There's a lot in your favor and I can't believe the people you've worked with have let you get this far into the competition."
"I know." Vincent nodded. "I know."
"You know?" Delanie looked at him. "Because to me you seem clueless."
"Of course I know!" Vincent said. "I'm the star athlete. I'm a leader. I'm stronger than all of my teammates. They always pass to me. Everyone always comes to me for advice. I'm the one who's supposed to be successful. I'm the one who's supposed to get recruited and be passionate and headstrong and friendly and get all the girls. I came into this competition knowing that I'm expected to rise above everyone else and win. You think I don't know that?"
Delanie just looked at him.
Vincent sighed. "I'm not supposed to be the guy who plays violin. Who's second best and stupid enough to throw his game away for a girl. I'm not supposed to come this far and not win. I know what I'm capable of, Delanie." He looked at her and shook his head up and down. "I know you don't know what I'm talking about, but let me make it clearer. I need to win this game. Yes I do. Because if I don't win. If I don't claim that check and that title, I'm going to be laughed at by everyone at home."
"What are you even talking about?" Delanie asked. "I'm just saying that you're too strong to beat..."
"I've revealed a lot about myself while I've been here, Delanie." Vincent tried to smile, but couldn't. "I've said too much. I can't lose now. And I won't let you bring me down." He used his other hand to tighten the handcuffs on them both.
Delanie snapped her head at him. "Dude, what the-"
"We have to get inside." Kat said, pacing back and forth on top of the moving train.
Nolan chuckled, trying to keep up. "We just have to take our chances again and jump in through one of the windows."
"That's too risky." Kat said. "I don't want to risk anything else. There had to be like a way to get in through up here. Like an exit through the ceiling."
"Oh." Nolan pointed. "It's right there."
"You have a great eye!" Kat rushed to it, almost dragging him.
"Do I?" Nolan briefly took his glasses off and looked at them, then shrugged before putting them back on.
Kat opened the entrance, then stopped before jumping in. "Can I tell you something really quick?"
"Sure."
"I feel like you know so much more about me than you've been led to believe now." She smiled.
"I actually didn't know who you were before coming here." Nolan said.
"Oh." Kat laughed. "Well, thanks for getting to know me. For actually listening to me. Like I said before, you have an aura or something about you that makes you seem very trustworthy."
"I'd like to think I am, thank you." Nolan nodded.
"Thank you." Kat repeated. "For being the only piece of Colin I have left." She paused. "Can I hug you?"
Nolan rolled his die.
"Really?" Kat frowned.
"I'm kidding." Nolan laughed. "Sure you can."
Kat hugged him with her free arm. "Okay. Let's win this race."
They jumped in.
Eli and Maddie sat on the freight train. Maddie sighed.
"What's up?" Eli asked.
"Hmm?" Maddie looked at him.
"You look like something's bothering you." Eli said.
Maddie shrugged. "It just got quiet again so I was thinking about some things."
"Like?" Eli said.
"The people here. my interactions with them..." Maddie looked down.
"Are you talking about Delanie?" Eli asked.
"Delanie! That's one thing I wanted to know. Are you in an alliance with her?" Maddie asked.
"What? No!" Eli looked away.
"Of course not... I am." Maddie shook her head.
"You are?!" Eli snapped his head back.
"WAS." Maddie corrected herself.
"So you, Delanie, and Kat were a trio all along." Eli turned his head. "Why did I even think about trusting you?"
"It's not like that." Maddie said. "I wasn't really given a choice by Delanie."
"I don't get why everyone is so scared of her." Eli shook his head.
"She would have wrecked me." Maddie said. "And Vincent too."
"Of course." Eli said. "She's a bully! That's why people haven't stood up for themselves..."
"You have!" Maddie said. "You're so brave. That's why I wanted to ask you for your advice on something."
"You think I'm brave? You want advice from me?" Eli asked. Maddie nodded. "An athlete wants advice from me?"
"Well, I don't really consider myself an athlete. I just know how to swim. I'm not that good at any sports on dry land." Maddie said.
"Okay. If you want advice on that I can't really help you." Eli said.
"Not that." Maddie said. "It's Vincent."
"Oh." Eli looked around. "Uh, can't really give advice about relationships either."
"Well you were with us last time on the boat race." Maddie said. "Can you just give me your perspective?"
"Okay... Sure." Eli said.
"Well, I like the guy." Maddie said.
"Obviously." Eli said.
"Yeah, obviously." Maddie continued. "But it's so hard to read him. I don't know if he likes me or not."
"Really?" Eli asked. "But aren't you two always together?"
"I try a lot more than he does." Maddie said. "But I always thought that was just how he is. But today he said to me that he doesn't need another girl falling for him."
"That was blunt." Eli said.
"Well, he said it after I told him he should make Delanie fall for him." Maddie said.
"What!?" Eli gasped.
"It wasn't my idea! It was Kat's." Maddie explained. "She wanted to get Delanie to fall for Vincent so that he could break her heart."
"I don't think his comment means anything then. He just doesn't want to look like a douchebag on national TV." Eli said.
"But the way he said it just made it seem like he wanted nothing at all." Maddie said. "Because obviously I like him. And then Janae liked him and I think TJ liked him too."
Eli thought. "Maybe you might be overthinking it?"
"I'm just so confused." Maddie sighed.
"Well... Have you asked him?" Eli asked.
"What?" Maddie looked at him.
"Have you not asked Vincent how he feels about you?" Eli raised his eyebrows.
Maddie shook her head.
Eli was about to face palm, but he hesitated for the sake of his black eye. "You're obsessing over something that you haven't addressed with Vincent! Look at you, Maddie. You're so strong and pretty and smart. Don't let some guy get in the way of your game."
"I didn't think I was..." Maddie said.
"Think about how you're going to be edited. People are gonna think you're just Vincent's sidekick." Eli said.
"I don't want that." Maddie shook her head. "But it would suck if he's not into me."
"But you two are best friends, aren't you?" Eli pointed out. "Or maybe he's just secretly gay and doesn't want anyone to know." He smirked.
"That's ridiculous." Maddie laughed.
Suddenly, the freight train hit a sharp turn that launched the pair off of the train and into a pool of mud.
Maddie spit out mud. "Oh no! As if it couldn't get any worse!"
"Noooooooooo!" Eli shouted into the sky as the train sped off into the distance.
Confession Cam:
(Eli and Maddie) They look even dirtier and more beat up than before. They both just look into the camera, emotionless.
Eli and Maddie rushed into the scene, finally reaching the next checkpoint. They looked a mess.
"We made it!" Eli exclaimed, gasping for breath.
"That was hell." Maddie sobbed. "Literal hell."
"It's about time you two got here." Chris said, looking up from the magazine he was reading.
Eli and Maddie both looked at the other four, who were all laying around on the sand, still exhausted from the days events. They also no longer had their handcuffs on.
"Everyone else is here." Maddie said.
"No surprise there!" Chef exclaimed. He unlocked their cuffs and handed them each a small burrito.
"It's been like two hours." Chris said. "And since we're out of time, no boat race."
"Oh thank God." Maddie said.
Chris pointed at a nearby dock. "Go sit at the end of the dock and vote who you want to leave. You can't vote for Vincent or Delanie because they got here first."
"They won?!" Eli groaned.
"Yes, we did." Delanie glared at him.
"Congratulations." Eli smiled.
"Thanks." Delanie rolled her eyes.
"Come. On!" Chris pointed at his watch. "We do NOT have all day here. Please vote. I mean, we don't really need you to vote because the vote is pretty much sealed, but do it anyway."
"Okay, okay..." Eli said as he headed to the dock, looking at Delanie the entire time. She winked at him.
"Okay," Chris stood in front of the remaining six. "In a couple seconds, the six of you will become 5. One of you will be out of this competition. FOR. EVER. So if I call your name, you are safe." He cleared his voice and Chef handed him a slip of paper that he didn't even bother to look at. "Vincent and Delanie, you two are obviously safe, thanks to Vincent, who basically dragged you here." He looked at Delanie.
"Against my will." Delanie rolled her eyes.
"Nolan... You are also safe." Chris nodded. "As is Kat."
Eli looked at Delanie, who smirked at him. She tried not to laugh.
"No way..." Eli started shaking his head. "You are ev-"
"STOP. TALKING." Chris said loudly. "Eli, you are safe. Heard me? SAFE."
Vincent stood up, clearly shocked. "Wait, so that means-"
"I've been... voted out?" Maddie looked at everyone. "Kat... You voted me out?"
Kat couldn't even look at her. She shook her head. "Maddie, I am so sorry."
"We had a deal!" Maddie cried. "I feel so betrayed."
"Maddie!" Kat stood up, but before anything else could be said, Chef took Maddie away.
Confession Cam:
(Delanie) She smirks, very happy with herself. "What a beautiful slap in the face. Couldn't get Vincent out today, so who better to get rid of than his girl herself?" She laughs. "How funny, for him to be so determined to win and then have no say in who goes home. Peace out Maddie!"
(Nolan) "I had to convince Kat to vote out Maddie instead of Eli." He shrugged. "I didn't want to see her go home and I also wanted to follow my die, so I couldn't risk it."
(Vincent) He just looks at the camera, stunned.
Chris smiles at the camera. "We will see you next time, folks, at Camp Wawanakwa! There are only three episodes left and I'm sure LOTS of more drama to come! Stay tuned!" He winks.
NEXT TIME: The eliminated contestants return to help Chris and Chef with the next challenge. Another contestant for TDU is revealed.
