He who haunts the attic chapter 14 Hurdy Gurdy Man by Donovan
Leah raced downstairs the next morning just as the sun was coming up. She was in such a rush she almost forgot her shoes… and pants. The she wolf wanted to leave as earlier as she could to hopefully avoid running in to any of Sam's pack…. Or Sam himself. but deep down she knew that if she were to fun in to her Ex he wouldn't be able to face her. Leah wondered if he had phased since the day before. If Paul or Jared had seen what he did. 'hell if they'd seen what he did they more than likely thank him for it. Paul had always wanted to know what it was like to knock some of my teeth out. Ha, the joys of being in the mind of a…".
"Lee?". Seth came out of his Bedroom rubbing his eyes.
The she wolf was knocked from her thoughts. "go back to bed for a while Seth. It's still real early".
"where you going?". He yawned.
She rolled her eyes. "where do you think I'm going, doofus?".
"how am I mean to know th….". His eyes widen, remembering what had been decided the day before. Remembering why that had been decided and remembering that his sister had imprinted on a vampire and that, that vampire was staying with his best friend. "hold on…. just let me get my shoes on…. and pants".
"what Seth, no your not coming".
"guess again".
"why would you even want to?".
"because..".
"Because your sister's gonna be in a room with a vampire?. Well too damn late kid it's happened before".
"Leah, what If like…. Were there like in the living room…. And the windows open. And there's a gust of wind and his smell travels all the way to Sam's house. Next thing you know Sam and his pack are there, we're all wolfs Billy's rolling for his life, and where the hell would the leech be?. Would he be fighting? would he be running?... no one knows". he shut his door behind him and made his way down the stairs.
"Seth he wouldn't be running he'd be fighting right by my side".
"okay". he said sarcastically.
They walked to the front door.
"he would". she argued.
"Lee I've met the guy". he opened the door.
"you'll meet your face in a minute if you don't stop talking about my mate".
"I'll meet my face what does that even mean?". he shut the door behind them.
At the black household.
"How was your night?".
"long".
"How was your talk with Billy?".
"long".
Leah giggled.
The moment Leah and Seth made it to Billy's door, they didn't even have to knock, Jacob ripped the door open and pulled them both in. Alistair comes out from the little bathroom. At some point in the night, Billy had fallen asleep in his chair. Jacob wanted to stay awake with Alistair, mainly to make sure nothing sketchy went on but eventually dozed off. leaving the tracker standing in the middle of the black house having no idea what to do. the red-eyed vampire eventually found the little spare bathroom in the back of the house. And decided to make camp there. It was the furthest away from the other two men in the home. He also knew that if Billy were to wake up he wouldn't be able to wheel himself in to the small peace knowing his wheelchair wouldn't be big enough to fit in between the doorway. Alistair already felt on edge being on Wolf territory, the last thing he wanted that night was get stuck in Billy's clutches again. 'the man talked for so long about his people history the fella fell asleep. looks like I'm not just the only vampire to mate with a werewolf…. But I'm also the vampire to figure out you can sleep with your eyes open…. If you just want to enough'. Alistair also figured out that though the smell of wolf was less awful in the back of the house. It was still bad to him. like rotting eggs, or old fruit that rolled under the fridge several weeks before. But at least in the back of the house, his eyes didn't feel like they were gonna water….. and a vampire's eye couldn't even water at all. Leah went straight to him the very moment she saw him.
"Did anybody see you?". Billy rolled in to the room.
Seth shook his head. "don't think so".
"Seth you have to be sure".
"I'm sure Billy. We would have smelt if one of Sam's pack followed us".
Billy, Seth, and Jacob all went in to the kitchen to try and come up with a game plan. they knew that Sam and his pack would have to find out soon. That Jacob would have to change sooner or later, and that they all knew none of them wanted Sam to see everything that had happened through Jacob's eyes. Jacob knew that Sam wouldn't turn down the chance to defend the Rez. So Sam not being there when the Volturi come would arrive wouldn't be a possibility…. He hoped. But that fact that Sam had really punched Leah worried him. Sam had been a lot of things in his life. Impulsive, hot-headed, territorial, honest, and even a leader. But Jacob had never known him to be violent….. or at least not towards women. 'I've thought a lot of things about Sam in my time knowing him….. and not once, not even once… did I ever think he's hurt Lee like that. Not even when she was at her worst did I ever see the thought of hurting her come in to his head. I saw it come in to Paul's mind a bunch of times. But even when it did Sam would, always, always, always tell him to cut it the fuck out. That's why the jerk hitting her as he did has thrown me on my ass as it has. All because she told him she slept with her new guy…. that was all it took. Even I didn't hit Bella when she told me she was gonna be having a regular old honeymoon with Edward. Yeah, I grabbed her…. and I regret that. but I didn't try to take her head off because of it. it makes me see what he did to Emily in a new light too. What if he did have time to step away from her before he phased and just didn't care?. I'm not saying he scared the love of his life on purpose, I think it really was an accident. But maybe….. just maybe…. For a split second….. it wasn't'. the Alfa shook his head. but giving Sam the news that Leah imprinted on a vampire…. And not a half-vampire like Jacob imprinted on. a full vampire gave Jacob a little bit of drought that Sam may really not stand behind them any longer. But if there was one thing he did know though. It was even after they win…. If they win. And the Volturi go home…. Sam doesn't go anywhere. And now that Leah had imprinted…. Her imprint doesn't go anywhere either. This means that a whole new war…. May being.
The three of them left Leah and Alistair alone. Wanting to give the she wolf and her vampire lover some alone time together. So there they sat. in the living room holding each other's hands.
"did you stay in the little spare bathroom the whole time?". Leah asked him.
"yeah…. It's the one place that wouldn't smell like a wolf too badly". He rubbed one of his thumps over her hand. "it came to the point where I needed to get away from it". Alistair gestured with his head in the direction of Billy. "so badly that shimmering up the chimney was an option for me".
The she wolf snorted. "that image". She shook her head.
"then I realized that I'd just be givin' him the opportunity to light me right up".
"I'm sure Billy wouldn't….". then she stopped herself. "ya know what….. never mind". she lightly kissed his lips. When Leah pulled away she looked at him. "Jacob told me that the other leeches weren't too happy about us after we leave the room yesterday".
"Leah just forgets about it, don't worry about them okay".
"What happened after I left though?".
Knowing she wasn't gonna stop pestering him until Alistair told her, the tracker gave in. nothing much…. I just tackled Amun out of the house and ruined most of their windows".
"WHAT!". Leah half laughed half yelled. She placed her hands over her mouth then took them off again. "you tackled him?... out of the house?". The she wolf said in absolute, complete, disbelief. "how did that happen?".
"well let's just say he open his mouth one too many times….. and I'd finally had enough of his upper-class righteousness and decided to break all of Carlisle and Esme's windows…. With his body". Alistair said like the picture of innocence. "there really was no way around it love".
"did Dr leech and his wife say anything about their windows?". She snickered.
"no…. but even if they did not isn't like their modest, There loaded".
"you think he'll be any more trouble?". Leah asked, referring to Amun.
"knowing Carlisle he's already had a chat with him. and the Irish coven….. and the Romanian coven…. And Mary….. and Randell. But the rest either don't seem to care or are in our corner".
"who the hell are Mary and Randell?".
It was Alistair's turn to snicker. "just two cold ones you don't have to worry yourself about". he rubbed his hands over his face".
"so Billy told you the stories?".
"yes, yes he did, he did tell me the story's…. so…. so many story's. it isn't that I don't respect your culture love….. but if I have to sit there and listen to him tell me another cold one story I may just climb up the fireplace yet and give him his chance to end me once and for all".
She slapped his chest. "don't you say that". Leah bit her lip to keep from smiling at his comment.
"there's something he talked to me about last night". The tracker rubbed the side of his face.
"oh no…. was it about sex?". She joked…. Or at least…. Half joked. Worried that Billy had really asked Alistair about their sex life. 'I wouldn't put it past the nosy old bastard'. She thought.
"I wish".
"oh know….. what really was it then?".
"Well… I believe he gave me the old, you either stop eating humans…. Or I'll feed you to the wolfs".
"of course he did". She raised her eyebrows. "but…. I can't say I blame him".
"Please don't make me eat Bambi". He weakly pleaded with her.
She laughed. "you're eating that damn dear and his mother too if I have anything to do with it".
"and people say I'm the cold one".
"Sorry, my love…. But it looks like I'm gonna have to be on Billy's side for this one".
"stupid Billy".
"for me….. try it for me".
"and if I don't like it?". Alistair raised his blond eyebrows.
"then you'll get over it….. because you love me".
He grunted. "only for you". he rolled his red eyes. He looked down then back up at her again. "what if you hated them?".
"still no".
"But what if…. You really hated them…. like really, really…. Hated his human".
"too little too late Bella's already been turned". She shrugged.
"All alright… but what if…?".
"Alistair the answers no. you are no longer a people eater. You will adapt….. and you will lean to like it?".
"woman…. You are so lucky you have the imprint influence on me….. because if anyone else ever asked me to go veggie…".
"what?...? what would you have done to them?". she smirked. Knowing she'd ready own his one.
"I would have ripped their spines out of their backs, whipped them with it, they were it was a belt". He kissed her cheek.
"I love it when you talk dirty to me". she rubbed her nose against his.
"hey…. Enough of that?". Seth walked in to the room. Followed by Billy and Jacob.
"we've come up with a plan". the Alfa crossed his arms. "tomorrow we're gonna tell Sam about you guys".
"tomorrow?". Leah stood up. "why tomorrow, why not the day after? or the day after that?".
"because Charlie's gonna go down to the lake tomorrow and go fishing for the day. he said it was him warming up for when he and Sue go on their weekend together".
"what does Bella's dad have anything….?". the she wolf asked.
"Billy's will be going with him and so will Sue. That means when I go tell Sam nether of our parents will be around. so we wouldn't have to worry about them getting hurt?".
"plus Rachel will be coming back from her friend's place in a couple of days. I very much drought my daughter would want to be here with a vampire in the house". Billy said, worried for his daughter. When in actuality he himself was the one worried about her being in the house with Alistair. 'I don't care if he said he wasn't going to eat one of my offspring or not. He's still a cold one in close range of one of my children. And if I'm being honest…. I don't care what colour his eyes are. I wouldn't put one of my kids in danger if it meant world peace. I wouldn't put one of them in danger if it meant the total extinction of the cold ones. They mean more to me than having my legs back….. they mean more to me than my life itself. Billy thought.
"and we have Paul always coming over when she here. eating all of our food and never passing the remote over". Jacob grumbled. He truly, truly hated that when his sister was around Paul was stuck to her like glue. "he'd smell Alistair before he'd even have the chance to get to the front door".
Leah sat down again. "fine… tomorrow then". she could see where they all were coming from. Leah didn't like it… but the she wolf knew they weren't wrong. It was best both Billy and Sue were out for the day just in case Sam or anyone from his pack decided to go vampire hunting. They couldn't risk one of them running in to one of their parents and phasing out of angry. Emily's face flashed in Leah's mind. the she wolf then imagined scares just like her cousins on Billy's face….. and then she mother's. Leah cringed thinking about her mother getting hurt in any way because of her. 'at At least they'll be with Charlie, he's the sheriff so Sam or Jared or Paul wouldn't even think about doing anything in front of Bella's dad. I guess being around him may be the safest place for them'. the she wolf thought about what would happen if Sam decided to come for her. 'would he hit me again?. would he stop at hitting me?. I know he killed Alistair I may as well be dead anyway. I wonder what the elders would do if he killed my imprint?. It's our number one rule, don't be going around killing other people's soulmates. Would they kill his in return?. Or would they just send Sam and Emily away from the Rez?... banish them?'. "then Alistair can come to stay with me…. yes?".
"he wouldn't be able to stay here because of Rach…".
"yes, he wouldn't". Billy cut his son off and gave the tracker a glare.
The she wolf grabbed the vampire's hands again.
"but…". Billy rolled ford a little bit.
"but what? like you all just said he can't be here with Rachel". Leah frowned.
"that's not what I was going to say. What I was going to say was….". he rolled a little closer. "Leah…. you understand that…. Sam and his pack…. Will more than likely never leave you both alone".
Leah took a deep breath. "while they'll just have to". she stood up again and walked past them all. she stood beside the window and look out for it with crossed arms and an angry face. she looked back at all the men. The tracker and had up and followed her. almost instinctively, as if he couldn't control himself. Alistair felt like he had to try and comfort her. "he's my imprint just like how Emily is Sam's. Rachel is Paul's, Claire is Quil's, and Nessie is Jacob's. I can't change it and I wouldn't want to. just like how none of them could change theirs. I feel that same happiness and freedom and that life-changing feeling it is really complete…. like really complete. To have that love with someone that they could only give you back. that you couldn't get from anybody else and if Sam and his pack want me to give that up…".
"Leah please". Billy rolled towards her again. "no one is asking you to give anyone up". He stopped his chair. "I want to be wanted you to understand that even if they can't kill him…. it doesn't mean they wouldn't make your life any easier".
"Billy they wouldn't even think of going near my sister when I was done with them".
"cute Seth". Jacob smirked.
"shut up Jake. I could teach them not to lay a finger on her. just give me the chance and I'll knock them in to next Tuesday". The younger wolf put his fist up in the air.
"clam down tiger". The Alfa joked.
"that's very sweet Seth…. Thank you". 'ooh god I lost the will to come back with a snarky comment…. What's happening to me. Leah felt exhausted, Alistair being able to tell softy grabbed her arm and pulled her in to him. so the she wolf could lean against him.
"look Lee… if Sam and the boys try anything….. our pack would put them in the ground, without a second thought". Jacob stepped ford. "we'll see what his reaction is…. And if we're worried I'll go to the elders".
"shall we go now then". Seth crossed his arms and gave Jacob some side-eye.
"The reason I bring this up…". Billy took the floor again. "is because I'm worried about you. now I made your father a promise that I would look after you…. and I have every intention of sticking to it. Leah…. would you ever…. Ever consider… moving off of the Rez… With Alistair?".
"what no way!". Seth angrily looked at Billy. Her younger brother made his way to her. "my sister ain't leaving her own home just to please the jackass Ex who left her".
"Seth I'm not asking her to leave to please others…. and asking her…".
"I don't care why you're asking her I'm not gonna let her be run out of town….".
"Seth…".
"Leah….". Seth got closer to her and placed his hands on her shoulder. "I will protect you….. and him". he frowned a little at the tracker but continued anyway. "we won't let Sam ruin this for you. I won't let him hurt you again okay…. just…. just don't leave me".
"Ohh puppy". She hugged him. the she wolf looked back at Alistair. "I know what we talked about the other day…. about us getting our known place together…".
"When did you two…".
Leah ignored her brother and cut him off. "but I wanna try and make living with my mum and brother work…. or at least for a bit longer".
As much as Alistair didn't want to live on the Rez any longer if it meant living around werewolves. But what could he do?... Leah was his mate and he wanted to make her happy. Even if that meant he lives in a constant state of paranoia for a little while. 'what else is new'. The tracker thought.
"I go where you go". He said to her.
"I thought it was the other way around". she whispered to him.
"Leah….". Billy spoke again. "whenever you decide I will respect it. but please know I'm only asking you to reconsider leaving for your known safety. Like I said before…. I promised Harry I'd look after you and your brother. Now that it is the easiest of things to do while you are chairbound. If you stay here you're putting yourself and your imprint in danger". Just as Leah was about to speak Billy held up one of his hands stopping her. so he would be able to finish what he was saying. "now I'm not saying you can't look after yourself… and I'm also not saying that Alistair can't look after his self. Or that the two of you couldn't look after each other. And like young Seth here pointed out, you'll have your whole pack here to have your back. I'm just worried that…. that..".
"Billy…". Leah knelt down to be at eye level with him. "I know what you mean….. I know". she gave him a kind smile and a lovely hug. "and thank you". she pulled away and lent back on to Alistair's chest. "but this is where I'm meant to be right now….. with my imprint and my pack…. And my family".
"I hope you're doing the right thing?". He said sadly.
"yeah me too".
"yeah me too". Seth parroted his sister with a worried tone.
Leah rolled her eyes at him. "worrywart". She lightly pushed him.
"Well". Billy rolled over to the nightstand and grabbed his hat. "I have to go do my errands for the day. your all welcome to stay here if need be. And you". he pointed to Alistair. "stay in this house. If any of Sam's pack sees you and they come here….. well I don't want to come back and find my house destroyed". Astaire put his hands up in surrender. "good then. Jacob I'm gonna roll myself down to Mark's place for a little while. Hold down the fort here". his son opened the front door for him and away he went. Rolling himself down to the neighbor's house.
Jacob shut the door and turned back to the others. he wasn't worried anything would happen to Billy. he'd done it loads of times.
"so what now?". Seth asked.
"well…. I'll stay for a bit but I'm gonna go off and see Ness at some point. So if you guys wanna hang here".
"Yeah, sure we can put on a movie or something". Seth smiled. he turned around to look at Leah and Alistair. Only to be met with two blank faces. "what is it, you guys?".
"well….. you can stay in here and watch a movie if you'd like….".
"or you can sod off and give the adult some alone time".
"what ohh no…. oh hell no, I'm not leaving you alone with my sister you'll… do things".
"calm down Seth…. I won't be doing that in Billy's house anytime soon". Leah rolled her dark brown eyes again.
"how do I know you aren't just saying that so I wouldn't freak out?. Jacob?". He turned to his Alfa, hoping he'd say something in the matter.
"Just don't do it in my room alright….. or my dad's. I'd never be able to sleep in my own bed ever again". Jacob shook his head.
"what Jake no, don't tell them to…. do that?".
"I wasn't telling them to do anything Seth….. I believe I was telling them not to do something".
"can't you like…". Seth got close to Jacob and whispered. "go all Alfa on her and order…".
"Seth". Leah almost yelled in embarrassment. "don't ask Jacob not to order me in to not having sex with my mate because it makes you uncomfortable".
"hey…. I wasn't uncomfortable until you said sex…so like….. thanks a lot Leah. thanks for making the room feel awkward". He awkwardly ran his hand through his dark black hair.
"Ohh yeah blame me because you're a toddler in the body of a child".
"well you're a….. bitch in the body of a bitch…. so suck on that?". he gave her the finger.
"well, this had been fun but..". Jacob grabbed Seth and headed to the door.
"Jacob…". He whined.
"let's just give them some time together. We don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow". The Alfa whispered to the younger wolf. didn't stop to say goodbye, he just pulled Seth out of the house and shut the door behind him.
Alistair went over to the couch and pulled Leah down on top of him.
"did you really mean you wouldn't be in Billy's house?". The tracker smirked.
"I guess you could say…. I was crying wolf".
In the woods close to The Cullen's house, Jacob and Seth.
"I don't know if I can do this Jake". Seth was fuming. The younger wolf had asked his Alfa to tell him what went on yesterday while he wasn't here. he wanted to know what the others vampires were saying about his sister. And why the tracker had tackled Amun out of the window. Once Jacob had told him the dull story he had to calm Seth down just so he wouldn't lose control and phase. "I mean it Jake… I really mean it. I think I might really rip some bloodsuckers heads off today".
"Seth". Jacob stopped walking and looked at the younger boy.
"no I mean it Jacob… the way they talked about her… what right did they have…. I'm gonna…. I'm gonna…".
"you gonna do nothing… remember…. we need them".
"Sam would have done something". Seth muttered under his breath.
Jacob understood that Seth was just feeling real frustrated at that moment. Feeling like he couldn't defend his sister the way he wanted to. but that comment about Sam…. well it sort of stung him. "well Sam's busy with other shit right now kid".
"What?... like defending our kind instead of protecting them?".
'he is his sister's brother'. Jacob thought. "Seth leave it alone…. Okay".
"I don't understand why you didn't just waste them the moment they started talking seven shades of shit about Leah". Seth huffed.
"Seth….. I went to the elders, I took Alistair away from that house so Lee wouldn't have to deal with all the bullshit. When it really comes down to it there wasn't much that I could do wherein the end no one leaves….. Seth, I don't like it either. But you need to remember I'm doing all this for my imprint. I'm gonna be real with you…. we need the men's power. From what I'm been told the fancy leeches outnumber us….. by a lot. I don't like how they disrespected Leah as well…".
Seth cut him off. "then do something about it".
"Seth I did…".
"no I mean actually do something about it. do something where, where they know the consequences of open their stupid mouths". The younger wolf kicked a stone. "do something that shows them they that not butter then us".
Jacob started to become frustrated now. he wasn't used to Seth being so outwardly aggressive about something. 'yeah Seth has had his moments in the past but he's never gotten himself so worked up before. Helping my dad get around all day I'm used to, sitting around all day with leeches stinking up the place I'm used to, Leah I'm used to but Seth I was not. Seth our happy-go-lucky puppy of the pack. Seth never had a bad word to say about anybody and was all smiles and all rainbows twenty-four seven hours a day. was talking about going and starting a war because someone spoke a bad word about his sister. I'd be lying if I said the love and loyalty both Seth and Leah have for each other doesn't make me feel filled with pride for the members of my pack. But it's also something that worries me. as the leader of the black pack, I need to be able to control the members of it. knowing how loyal and faithful they are to each other means either of them could go rogue at any time in order to have each other's backs. And as the pack leader, I can't have that happening. I need to be able to take charge of situations and show them that I'm able to have their backs just as much as each other. We all need to be able to trust one another and I hate that Seth doesn't feel like he can trust me right now. I hate that he feels so hurt about this… but if I'm being honest…. There really isn't anything I could do right now without losing anybody. Nessie is at risk and we need all the help we can get. The last thing I want to do is let Seth and Leah down….. but…. It's Ness'. He thought. "Seth….. as much as I'd like to, and believe me…. I'd really, really like to. I can't just go in there and start taking them out one by one like a carnival game".
"Sam would, he'd bust in there and….. and". Seth was stuck on what to say, but in the end, he didn't get to finish.
Jacob had heard enough of hearing the other Alfa's name. especially after what he had done to his beta the day before. "yeah Seth I'm sure he'll be right over once he's done beating up on your sister".
the second Jacob saw the look on Seth's face the Alfa froze.
'shit'.
"what… I don't… I don't…what…?".
"look, Seth…".
"I don't understand, what are you telling me… he…. He hit her?. no… no he didn't hit her. Sam wouldn't of hit her, he cares about her, he'd never do anything like that and she would have told me, my sister would have told me if he'd done that if he'd hit her. no Jake that doesn't make any sense why would he even do that it doesn't make any sense…". The younger wolf was rambling uncontrollable.
"Seth I'm so sorry I shouldn't have told you this way". a deep pit grow in the Alfa's stomach. 'shit this wasn't how I was meant to tell him, I'd told Lee I was gonna sit him down and explain what happened, not tell him his sister had been abused by her Ex, all because I wanted to quiet him down. "that wasn't right of me….. but right now you gotta clam down".
"clam down?... clam down you want me to fucking calm down?. How Jake?, how am I meant to clam down, you just told me…".
"I know what I told you…".
The younger boy began to shake.
"Seth…clam….". Before Jacob could finish talking Seth phased in to his wolf and began to run in to the woodlands. "god damn it". Jake phased and ran after him. "Seth stop!".
"no!". he shouted back.
"Seth don't be difficult!".
"don't tell me how to live my life".
"don't make me use my Alfa voice on you". 'he has his sister's speed. He's like a freaking rabbit on crack'.
"I heard that".
"hear this…. As your…". and just as Jacob was about t use his Alfa commend two new voices joined in.
"what's happening right now?".
"Sam did what?!".
Embry and Quil were already in their wolf forms when the other two turned. Through their wolf link, they were able to see everything that had happened.
"yeah and now I'm gonna go get the son of a bitch".
"not on my watch!". Jacob yelled as he finally caught up to Seth, and tackled in to the ground. "gotcha".
"get off of me Jake I need to go beat the crap out Sam for what he did". Seth struggled under him.
"know you don't!".
"of course I do she's my sister".
Embry and Quil appeared from the trees.
"I have to say Jacob…. If it were my sister…".
"then lucky you don't have one Embry". The Alfa said frustrated.
Seth still tried to get out from under Jacob.
"SETH… I DIDN'T WANT TO DO THIS….. BUT AS YOU ALFA…. CALM DOWN".
The moment he said it the younger wolf calmed down completely. Jacob hoped off of him once he was certain Seth was gonna do the bolt. "well thank you".
Seth transformed back "your welcome". The younger boy spat angrily. Both Embry and Quil turned to.
"Why did you have to stop me, don't you care?!".
"you know why and of course I care".
"then if you care so much why did you tell me knowing what I would do because we both knew what I would do?!".
"Seth… I'm sorry, telling you the way I did was wrong of me. I shouldn't have done that".
"I don't care how you told me, Jake. I care about Sam punching Leah. what gives him the right to think he could do that?. why did he hurt her in the first place?. Why wasn't I told about this last night".
"he hit her because she told him she moved on and imprinted. And she wasn't ready to tell you so I said I would for her".

It wasn't that they didn't believe that Jacob was telling the truth or not. Because they believed him, either of them thought he'd have a reason to lie. it was just Sam was always so caring towards Emily that Sam hitting any women at all just didn't seem right. And when he was with Leah neither Embry nor Quil ever saw him mistreat her, not even once.
The Alfa inhaled deeply. He turned to Seth. "Seth…. Think back to when you've seen Leah in the past few hours. At any point did you see the said of her face?. or has it been covered with her hair all this time".

As the small group continued to talk not one of them realized Jared looming in the background a few yards back.

The she wolf stood up from the couch to move in front of him. she crouch down to be eye level with him and placed both of her hands on the sides of his face.
