When Pepper and Skye arrived on Pepper and Tony's floor, Pepper guided Skye to sit on the big couch, "Wait, before I sit have you and Tony ever done it on here?" Skye asked, eyeing the couch.
Pepper couldn't help but laugh a little, "Are you sure you want to know?" Pepper jokes, and after seeing Skye's face she laughed again, "Don't worry, it's clean," Pepper said with a smile, Skye nodded before sitting down.
"Are you hungry we can order something?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah a little," Skye said.
They decided on Chinese. While they ate, they watched a movie.
"Can I ask you something?" Skye suddenly asked.
Pepper paused the movie, "Of course, anything," Pepper said.
"I have been thinking, I never asked what name you had picked for me. The name the nuns gave me was terrible, and I picked Skye myself, but what did you guys pick?" Skye asked, rambling.
"We picked Daisy, it was Jiaying's favorite flower and my mother's middle name. Tony didn't argue, he even joked that he could call you his little flower," Pepper said, smiling.
"Really?" Skye asked, surprised.
"Yes, do you want to see some pictures?" Pepper asked.
"Yes," Skye said, forgetting the last of her food and the movie that was still on pause.
"I'll be right back then," Pepper said, walking out of the room, also forgetting the last of her own food.
Five minutes later Pepper came back, "Found them, here this one is of Tony and Jiaying," Pepper said, handing the picture over for Skye to see.
"Can I ask you something?" Pepper asked an hour later.
"Yeah sure," Skye answered.
"How is it going between you, Maria, Sharon, and Bobbi?" Pepper asked.
"Good, it is going good. Bobbi and I started a bit on the wrong foot, so I am a little worried about our relationship," Skye said swallowing the lump in her throat.
"What do you mean?" Pepper asked.
"Um like in the beginning before the others knew my age, and I was still only at SHIELD to find you and Tony. It was good in a way, we both knew that the other was hiding something, but the make out was good, and now when we are honest with each other, I don't know where our relationship will go, we haven't really kissed that much since…. you know," Skye said.
"Well soulmates bond can be tricky, and Bobbi and you as you said weren't completely honest with one another. It could turn out to be a platonic bond or you could be romantic, only time will tell," Pepper said.
"Yeah and then there is Maria and Sharon, they are so… nice," Skye said sighing.
"Only nice?" Pepper asked with a raised eyebrow, Skye got so red in the face that Pepper just could not help but laugh.
"No, they are more than nice and respectful, a little too respectful sometimes," Skye said.
"How so?" Pepper asked.
"We haven't kissed, not really, I mean they have only kissed me on the top of my head, forehead, or my cheek. Every time I have tried to, um start, they tell me, that we have to wait," Skye said whining at the last part.
"Well then, it may be a good thing you only have to wait one more day," Pepper said.
"One?" Skye asked, confused.
"You know it is your birthday in two days, it is the first of December tomorrow," Pepper said amused.
"Oh yeah, right. I really hope that no one has made it a big deal," Skye said.
"Don't worry I already told Tony not to invite a thousand people," Pepper said, and at Skye's panicked look, "It's only the pack, Tony, and me, unless you want to invite some of your friends?" Pepper said.
"No, that's fine, the only friends I have, or had were people from the Rising Tide, or people I haven't talked to for years," Skye said with a sad smile.
"I am really sorry you had to grow up like that," Pepper said.
"It wasn't your fault," Skye said.
"I know, but still," Pepper said, taking one of Skye's hands in her own.
"Um Pepper, can I ask you something?" Skye asked after a moment of silence, Pepper nodded, "Um, where is Jiaying buried?" Skye asked carefully, almost as if she was scared to ask.
"Uh, in Malibu, close to our home there. I am sure we can find a day for you to visit," Pepper answered.
"Yeah, I would like that," Skye said, giving Pepper a smile.
"Do you want to go down to the others? It is almost time for dinner, or we could stay here? It's up to you," Pepper said.
"Yeah I would like to go down to the others," Skye said.
"JAVIS, where are the others?" Pepper asked.
"They are in the gym Pepper," JARVIS answered.
"Shall we?" Pepper asked.
When they arrived at the gym, they saw May holding Rick's face down at the mat and everyone watched, "What's going on?" Skye whispered to Maria.
"Rick said something that pissed off Mel again," Maria said slinging an arm around Skye and tugged her in closer.
"He does that a lot right?" Skye asked.
"Yup, he does, and this time Mel asked him to spar," Maria said with a smirk.
The next morning, Skye was woken gently by a poke on her shoulder, "Ahh, what time is it?" She asked without opening her eyes to see who it was because she knew who it was, she could smell them.
"6:30 a.m., we are eating breakfast with everyone else, before we put Christmas decorations up on the wolf floor," Maria said.
"Hmm 5 more minutes," Skye said turning onto her stomach and burying her head under her pillow.
"Should I throw you over my shoulder again?" Maria teased.
"NO, I'm up, let me just get dressed," Skye said, shooting up from the bed and quickly grabbing some clothes and running into the bathroom.
Laughing to herself, she went into the living room, "What's so funny?" Sharon asked.
"Uh I just found a way to get Skye up early in the morning without food," Maria said, smirking.
"Uh do tell," Sharon said, very interested.
"Just asked her if I should throw her over my shoulder, she practically jumped out of the bed," Maria said with a chuckle.
"Why do I have a feeling that this will become your thing?" Sharon asked.
"Because it might just be," Maria said, smirking even more.
"No, it's not," Skye said, who had come out of her room and stood beside Maria, and throwing a glare at Maria.
"Are you sure about that?" Maria said, turning her body to face Skye who took a step back at the look on Maria's face.
Before Skye knew it, she was laying over Maria's shoulder again, "Maria put me down," Skye whined.
"When we are upstairs on the shared floor," Maria said, walking to the elevator with Sharon following who was trying not to laugh.
"It's not funny Sharon," Skye said now glaring at Sharon.
When the three of them arrived on the shared wolf floor, they were the last ones to arrive, Tony and Pepper were there too.
"Umm Maria, you do know that Skye can walk? Right? What is this anyway, the second time you carry her?" Victoria asked, a little amused.
"Third time," Skye said grumbling before moving over to sit between Bobbi and Pepper.
The rest of the day was spent decorating the three wolf floors, Tony and Pepper had bought a lot of decorations, and in the evening Skye, Jemma, and Leo watched a movie.
Skye had learned from Maria in the beginning in Sharon's pack, that they were mostly on a first name basis when it was just the pack and people who knew of it were around.
The next day Skye woke up a little confused as to why she had woken up. Looking at the watch beside her it showed it was still early, frowning, she looked around, she could feel excitement in her stomach but was confused as to why, deciding to take a shower and dress before Maria showed up to throw her over her shoulder for whatever reason.
Maria would properly still do it, but then at least she would be ready for it this time. After she had dressed, she went out to the living room to wait for Sharon and Maria. It didn't take long until they came out.
"Good morning," Skye said.
"Good morning Skye are you excited for today?" Sharon asked.
Skye just looked at her confused, "What are we doing today?" she asked.
Maria and Sharon shared a sad look, "Have you forgotten what day it is?" Maria asked sitting down beside Skye.
"No, I haven't. It's the 2nd of Decem-, oh yeah I guess I did forget there for a moment," Skye said, embarrassment coloring her face.
"It's okay, it is your first birthday that will be celebrated on your actual birthday," Sharon said.
"Happy birthday sweetie," Sharon said, giving Skye a hug,
"Happy birthday," Maria said after Sharon had let go so she could hug Skye too.
"Thanks guys," Skye said.
"Now come, we are having breakfast with Tony, Pepper, and Bobbi," Maria said, laying her arm over Skye's shoulder when she had stood up.
When they arrived at the floor where Skye had met Tony and Pepper, Skye was met with hugs and congratulations.
Breakfast was a quiet affair; which Skye was happy for. When Maria told the others that she had forgotten it was her birthday and teased Skye good nature, it had earned her a slap on the arm from Skye and Sharon laughing at it.
The next few hours were just spent relaxing and talking, Skye could see Bobbi, Sharon, and Maria whispering more than once, and when asked what they were doing they just smiled, pretending that they didn't know what Skye was talking about.
Pepper and Peggy had taken Skye with them an hour before dinner to change.
"What exactly is the plan for tonight? I couldn't get anyone to tell me," Skye asked.
"Relax Skye, I told you the other day it was just the pack, Tony, and me, and it is nothing big," Pepper said from behind Skye, doing her hair.
"Why don't I really believe that?" Skye said, only to have Peggy chuckle. "It's not funny, I'm nervous," Skye said.
"We know little one, but there is nothing to be nervous about, you know everyone who is going to be there," Peggy said.
Skye sighed, "I know," she said.
When the three of them arrived at the party floor, because of course there was a party floor in the Tower, "Hey there she is," Kara said coming over and dragging Skye off to the side where Jemma and Leo were.
Natasha, May, and Victoria had followed over and just managed to wish Skye a happy birthday, before she was dragged away.
"How long do you think it will take?" Sharon asked.
"I would say -" Maria started only to be interrupted by Skye.
"Leo no, I am not warring a stupid hat," Skye was also patting his hands away that were holding a birthday girl hat.
"But Skye it is a tradition, you have to," they could hear Jemma say.
Then with exaggerated huff from Skye, they heard her mutter, "Fine I'll wear the stupid hat."
"She sounds just like you Melinda," Peggy teased.
"It is a stupid hat; do I look like someone who wears pink and glitter?" Melinda asked slapping Natasha on the arm for laughing, "Just because you and the rest of the female wolves for some weird reason like to wear that hat, I don't," May glared at her mate.
"How did that tradition start? And where is Tony?" Pepper asked.
"Tony is with Clint, he is still trying to wrap his head around the idea that Tony knew of the wolf program and helped create it," Natasha said.
It had come as a shock to the entire pack, even if it had been a while since they learned of it along with the whole Skye thing. She herself had a hard time, she could understand Pepper knowing and not tell anyone, but Tony was harder.
"And the hat, I have no idea," she then said.
Bobbi handed Skye a cola and sat down beside her, the party was still going strong, "Do you have some rum to go with this?" Skye asked, Bobbi chuckled.
"No, I don't and no one else has any either, you have only just turned 18," Skye grumbled a little but opened the can, anyway.
"Do you want to go out on the terrace to get some air?" Skye asked.
"Is this a way of asking for alcohol where on one will see?" Bobbi asked with a glint in her eyes looking down at Skye.
"No, I just want some air," Skye said, Bobbi just nodded. Skye grabbed her new leather jacket she had gotten from Natasha and her pack, she had also gotten some boots; from Victoria and her pack she had gotten a cool knife set (two badass knives) and some other gear. Kara, Izzy, and even Natasha had offered to teach her to use the knives.
Peggy had given her a nice business suit like the one she saw May in when they had first met, and a nice dress.
Tony and Pepper had given her a really nice black corvette which she at first wanted to refuse, but Maria had quickly reminded her that she still technically doesn't have a driver's license since she's in the process of getting one. She wasn't allowed to drive the car beforehand, and therefore she could look at it as a combo gift for her birthday and a congratulations with the driver's license, Skye had slowly nodded once Sharon and Bobbi joined.
Natasha had whistled and asked if she could borrow it once she had given it a few spins herself.
Bobbi had given her a big soft hoodie and blanket; Maria and Sharon had funnily enough given her the same just in different colors, and two hoodies and a photo album both from the Bus, the Hub, the Triskelion, and even a few from the Tower, Skye had cried when she had opened that one.
"I've always loved New York," Skye said.
"Yeah it's beautiful from up here," Bobbi agreed, they hadn't noticed that they had been moving closer and closer together until Skye laid her head on Bobbi's shoulder. Bobbi smiled and rested her own head on top of Skye's and wrapped an arm around Skye too.
They just stood there for a while, "Are you cold?" Bobbi asked.
"No, not really, are you?" Skye said, turning to look at Bobbi.
"No, I'm good," Bobbi said, also turning. They looked at each other just looking until Bobbi was slowly moving forward giving Skye plenty of time to move away, but she didn't.
When their lips met it only took a few seconds before they broke apart and they just looked at each other again before they both made a face, "That felt wrong, right?" Skye asked.
"Yeah it did, it felt very wrong," Bobbi easily replied.
"Pepper mentioned a few days ago that soulmate bonds could be tricky and change if the bonding isn't complete," Skye blurted out after a long moment of silence.
Bobbi could only nod, she was getting upset, even if she had only had Skye's word on her for around six years. She had been looking forward to meeting whoever her soulmate was, she had been unmarked before; she knew that Skye would still be a part of her life, just not in a romantic way, "I'm sorry, I thought that our bond was a romantic one," Bobbi said.
"Hey Bobbi, it's okay, so did I," Skye said, wrapping her arms around Bobbi.
"Then I'm sorry to ruin it in the beginning, I feel like it's my fault," Bobbi said.
"Bobbi, again it wasn't your fault, I feel like it was mine," Skye said.
"Or it could be on both of you or on neither," Natasha said, making them both jump and whirling around to look at the red-haired alpha. "I think I need to have a chat with Sharon on your ability to watch your surroundings closer, and Bobbi, do we need to work on it too?" Natasha asked, very amused.
"How long were you standing there," Skye asked.
"Not long, but if we need to send some of us undercover as lovers it should definitely not be you two," Natasha said.
Bobbi groaned, "Nat is there a reason you come out here?" she asked.
"Oh yeah, it's time for cake and we need Skye to blow out the candles and cut the first piece, before Leo combusts."
"Alright we're coming," Skye said, Natasha nodded, still amused.
"So, you okay with this?" Bobbi asked when Natasha had closed the door.
"I think I am, what about you?" Skye said.
"It will take a few days I think, but yeah, our bond is very clear on the non-romantic part after that kiss," Bobbi said, Skye didn't know what to say so she just stepped closer to Bobbi and gave her another hug.
"Come on, I think I can smell smoke from Leo's combusting," Bobbi said, pulling back a little.
"Okay that is the second time, and I feel that there is a story there," Skye said.
"Oh there is…." Bobbi said before telling the story walking side by side, the two platonic soulmates walked inside.
