They had been preparing for three days. Skye and Fitz were checking the equipment over to make sure it worked perfectly, Simmons was preparing for a role, as Coulson's daughter, May and Ward were going over the plan again, and Coulson was talking with the Italian Police Force again to make sure they didn't interfere with their plan.
Coulson called a meeting, when everyone was there he began.
"Fitz, Skye, is everything good on your end?" He asked.
"Yes sir, it looks good," Fitz answered, Coulson nodded.
"May, Ward, is everything ready on your end?" he asked, and the two specialists nodded.
"Good, Simmons, are you ready?" he then asked.
"Yes sir, I am as ready as rain," Simmons said.
"Okay, that's good. Well, it is late, so get some rest till tomorrow at six am," Coulson said dismissing everyone.
Fitz and Simmons went to their bunks right away, Coulson went up to his office/bunk, Skye went to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water, Ward followed Skye to the kitchen, and May noticed Ward following Skye grumbling to herself about what he wanted now.
"Are you nervous?" Ward asked Skye, who had just turned around with the bottle in hand, he was staring at her again.
"No, not really, I have been on missions before Ward, remember?" Skye answered shifting her weight from foot to foot.
"I know, but sometimes you can still get nervous," he said following her movements.
"Ward, are you telling me that you are nervous about the mission?" Skye asked.
"What? No, I am just saying that you are still a rookie, and this mission is not like the rest we have done," he said, finally looking her in the eyes.
"Hmm, yeah, thanks for your concern, but I am fine," Skye said while trying to get past him.
Ward was about to say something more when May made her presence known, she stepped into the kitchen, looking between Ward and Skye.
"Skye, I need to speak to you," May said walking away.
"Okay May," Skye said following May, Ward was glaring daggers after May.
May led Skye to the cockpit.
"Thanks," Skye said sitting down in the copilot seat.
"He needs to open his eyes and see you are not interested, he was staring at you again," May said.
"I know, I just don't want to be rude, we are living in a small space and work together," Skye said.
"Hmm, but if he keeps it up I am going to tell Maria and Victoria to get rid of him," May said, also sitting down.
"Get rid of him how?" Skye asked, looking over at May.
"It doesn't matter, he just needs to be gone. He is in dangerous territory, not just with the pack and soulmate thing, but also with SHIELD's rules, and just morally," May said.
"SHIELD's rule? What do you mean? I thought that SHIELD didn't have a rule for people being together outside of work?" Skye asked.
"They don't, but he is not accepting a no from you. He knows you have Bobbi, and we all agreed that you and Bobbi should play 'romantic soulmates' together, when around people who aren't a part of the pack," May said.
"Do you think I should be blunter with him, I mean I don't know how," Skye asked.
"Let's see after this mission, you need to go to bed and rest," May said.
"Good night May," Skye said, before walking out of the cockpit and to her bunk.
They were all in place on the train, Skye and Fitz were in the cargo wagon, teasing each other with how Skye was Fitz's least supportive fake girlfriend, while setting up.
After they had set up, they checked if everyone's coms were working.
Shortly after Simmons and Coulson had managed to put the tracker on their target, everything went south, they lost connection to everyone. Fitz was panicking, he rambled about Jemma being in trouble, and then Jemma came running in before Fitz could go find her.
She was soon followed by a man with a grenade-looking thing in his hand. Simmons hugged the man close as the device was triggered, and they both fell to the ground.
Skye and Fitz ran over to Simmons to see if she was okay. Luckily, she was okay, it looked like it had almost the same effect as the night-night gun had on people.
The train stopped, Skye looked out the window to see their target had some of his men moving the package into a car.
They hid Jemma, so she would be safe, and Fitz shot the man a few times with the night-night gun, before they followed the car.
Skye had been trying to contact Sharon, Maria, and Peggy ever since she and Fitz left the train, but she couldn't.
"Fitz?" Skye asked while still following the car.
"Yes," Fitz answered.
"Can you get in contact with someone from your pack?" Skye asked.
Fitz tried before looking confused.
"No, but I mean our mind links can't reach that far for too long, only a couple of minutes, but I get nothing, not even static," Fitz said, looking confused and a little worried.
"Can you get in contact with May then? I am still not good at mind linking other packs?" Skye then asked.
"No, I can't," Fitz said looking even more worried.
They couldn't think of that now as they had reached the house, where Quinn would be.
Eight minutes later and some arguing, Skye went in while Fitz disabled the cars. They had pressed their own tracker when they arrived and hoped the team would be there soon.
Skye went to the basement after she heard that the package was down there. What she saw shocked her, it was Mike Peterson in a small chamber, it looked like he was sleeping, he was scared heavily by burn marks.
"Ahh, look who we have here," a voice said from behind her, startling her, she turned around to see Quinn and the man from the train, the man took the gun she had from her, before pointing his very real gun at her head.
"It seems that the clairvoyant was right," the man said. Quinn only hummed.
Then Quinn and the man started to talk about how they had replicated the night-night gun, even made a grenade out of it.
Quinn took the gun from the man and gestured for Skye to move away from where Mike was laying, she did, she knew she couldn't do anything right now. She knew if she did anything that was reckless right now, Sharon and Maria would kill her, well if she did anymore reckless things. She was still reckless going in alone, but hopefully the team would be here soon.
Mike got a new leg, and the man left. Quinn was having too much fun taunting Mike about what he could and couldn't do. Skye felt her blood run cold when Quinn asked Mike what he would do if he ordered Mike to hurt her.
Mike just said that that wasn't his orders, Quinn then told Mike to go and that he knew what to do, and then Mike left. Skye followed him a few steps, but then she felt a burning feeling in her leg.
But she ignored it, turning around to face Quinn.
"What did you do to him," She asked with fire in her eyes, which disappeared when Quinn shot her, she started clutching her stomach and looked down, she now also saw that the burning feeling in her leg was also a gun wound.
She looked up at Quinn; he had shot her twice. Quinn stepped closer to her, he put the gun away that he had used and took out another gun, but it looked different, she also saw Quinn taking out a syringe with something green looking in it.
Skye was in pain and had a little trouble standing. Quinn came up really close, she felt the nuzzle of the weird looking gun, then he pulled the trigger. It felt like a million needles were injected into her stomach, and she felt herself fall. Quinn caught her before she fell, she could scream, and she wanted too really badly.
"I am sorry for this, but I have my orders too," he said and injected the green stuff in her arm, and then he walked over to a hidden compartment in the wall and put the syringe and the weird looking gun in there.
"Your friends are here, and we can't have them finding this, can we now," he said, and then he left.
Skye was so scared, she was going to die alone, and not able to say goodbye to Sharon, Maria, Bobbi, or her parents. She never got to call Tony or Pepper dad or mom, why didn't she just call them that when she had time to do it? Why had she been such a coward?
She couldn't say goodbye to any of the others either.
Her body hurt like hell, everything was on fire, and all she could do was whimper. She couldn't move to open the basement door that Quinn had closed on his way out so the team could find her body.
Her vision was getting darker and darker.
She felt someone grabbing her chin, she could hear someone saying or yelling, but couldn't identify who it was or what was being said. She vaguely felt like she was being lifted, or was she dying now? She didn't know or really care, she just wanted the pain to stop, but it wouldn't, then everything was silent and dark.
