It was the middle of the night, Simmons was checking on Skye's vitals one last time before going to rest for a little bit, and Peggy had managed to get everyone to bed, except Skye's mates.
Peggy had convinced Pepper to get at least some rest, but she couldn't convince Tony; he had gone to his lab to work on something, he wouldn't say what.
A few hours later Simmons noticed that Skye was waking up again, not wanting a repeat of earlier she didn't call for anyone just yet.
Skye groaned and opened her eyes, looking around the room before they landed on her.
"Jemma?" Skye asked, Skye still sounded confused, but it could just be from tiredness, or it could be the drugs.
"Hey, Skye, how are you feeling?" Simmons asked, very grateful that at least Skye recognized her.
"Like I have been run over by a train, and my throat is so dry," Skye said looking down at herself, or trying to as she was lying down and had a cover over her. She tried to sit up but yelped in pain.
"Easy, you are far from okay to sit up on your own, and your throat is dry as we had to put a tub down it, so you could breath," Simmons lightly scolded, helping adjust the bed so Skye could sit or have her upper body a little more elevated.
"Where, where are we?" Skye asked.
"At the Tower, everyone is freaking out, we almost lost you, and then when you woke up you-" Simmons cried out not able to finish.
"Hey, I am here," Skye said grabbing ahold of Simmons' hand.
Simmons smiled at Skye and gave her hand a little squeeze.
"How are the team, where is everyone?" Skye asked, Simmons knew that everyone was her mates, and probably also her parents.
"Ward and Coulson have been sent on a mission since they can't know about the pack. I think Maria, Sharon, Bobbi, and maybe May and Natasha are on the other side of the hall," Simmons said.
"Pepper and Tony?" Skye then asked, pleading.
"Last I knew, Tony was in his lab and Peggy forced Pepper to sleep a little," Simmons said. "Do you want to see anyone? But only two or three people at a time," Simmons continued when she saw how sad Skye looked.
Skye nodded, but before Simmons could ask who, Skye stopped her.
"How bad is it?" Skye asked, Simmons looked sadly at Skye.
"You were shot in your right leg, with a 9mm, and then again in the stomach with the same 9mm. However, you were also shot with something else that did a lot of damage to your stomach, small and large intestines, we don't know what yet, or if it was Quinn since he isn't talking," Simmons said.
Skye looked confused and like she was thinking about what happened while Simmons looked her over.
"Do you remember?" Simmons asked, taking out the notepad she had been using, to write notes.
"It's fuzzy. I remember going down to the basement, there was something down there beside the package we were following, and then Quinn and another man were there," Skye said looking frustrated, her vitals beginning to jump.
"Skye, I need you to try and calm down," Simmons said, Skye did as Simmons asked.
"I just have a few questions before I can allow anyone in here, okay?" Simmons said, Skye nodded.
"Good, first question, are you in any pain or uncomfortable in any way?" Simmons asked.
Pepper had come back with tea and coffee for Bobbi, Maria, Sharon, May, Natasha, and Victoria, the three alphas had agreed that they wouldn't leave, well Sharon would have stayed no matter what.
"Thanks Pepper," Natasha said as Pepper sat down with her, May, and Victoria.
"Have they moved?" Pepper asked looking over at Bobbi, Sharon, and Maria who all three were watching the doors to medical.
"No, not much, but we can at least get them to eat and drink something, and they do pace sometimes when they get restless," Victoria answered.
The door opened, and Simmons walked out, coming over to them.
"She is awake. She is still a little confused, so take it slow with her. I will allow you to see her for a short while," Simmons said.
"How many of us can go in?" Victoria asked.
"Four at the most," Simmons said, knowing that all three of Skye's soulmates would want to see her, and Pepper would too, so she said four instead of the two to three people she wanted to say.
And sure enough Pepper, Maria, Sharon, and Bobbi moved closer, Victoria, May and Natasha took a step back.
"We'll make sure the others know that Skye is awake," Natasha said before the small group disappeared behind the doors.
Pepper was the first to reach Skye, who smiled up at her.
"Hi," Skye said, Pepper burst into tears and wrapped her arm gently around Skye, being mindful of all the wires Skye was still hooked up to.
"You are so much like Tony," Pepper muttered into her hair.
"Sorry," Skye said with tears in her eyes when Pepper had pulled back to allow the others some room to say hi to her too.
"Why are you sorry," Sharon asked.
"I was stupid going in alone," Skye said.
"You are not stupid, love," Maria said.
"Yes I was, I promised not to be reckless, and I ignored that promise," Skye said.
"No, no, you were not, none of us thought Quinn would be able to pull the trigger. You didn't want him to get away, and we got him. He will pay for what he has done," Sharon said, her voice becoming dangerous when she spoke about Quinn.
"So, how are you feeling?" Bobbi asked.
"I am tired, and sore all over, and my foot is itching," Skye said.
Pepper, Maria, Sharon, and Bobbi's eyes went down to Skye's feet, to see her left foot twitching a little, Sharon gently laid her hand on the foot.
"Where?" Sharon asked.
"Where your thumb is," Skye said and then sighed in relief when Sharon started to get rid of that damn itch.
They talked a little more, mostly about what they had been up to in the last couple of weeks, until Skye started to cough.
Simmons came running over when Skye started to cough, she pushed Bobbi and Maria away so she could have some room.
"It's fine, Simmons, I think I just need some water," Skye said, Simmons gave her a look but nodded, Simmons then went over and got some water.
"Are you sure?" Pepper asked, very concerned, Skye smiled up at her.
"Yeah," Skye said.
Simmons came back with a plastic cup with a straw.
"Small sips, slowly," Simmons orders keeping eye contact with Skye until she nodded.
Skye did as she had been told, but it was very hard. The cold water running down her throat was the best thing she had ever felt in her life, Skye gave a frustrated whine when Simmons pulled the water away.
"Sorry Skye, but your system can't handle too much right now," Simmons said apologetically.
Skye was yawning and had trouble keeping her eyes open, so Simmons told everyone to get out, so Skye could rest, they could see her later. There was a lot of protesting and grumbling, but Simmons was very firm that they leave.
After Simmons had closed the door she went over to Skye and helped to adjust the bed, so Skye could lay down.
A couple of hours later Skye woke up, because she really had to pee, looking around as best as she could, as to not jolt her injuries, looking for a bathroom.
"Hey Skye, what is it?" Sam came into view.
"Um, I need to pee, where is the bathroom?" Skye said.
Sam gave Skye a look.
"Skye, you are bound to that bed until both Simmons and I tell you otherwise," Sam said.
"Then how do you expect me to pee, right here one the bed?" Skye asked, Sam gave her a little smirk and Skye didn't like it. Sam went around the corner for five seconds and came back with a bedpan in her hands.
Skye definitely didn't like it anymore now that she knew why Sam smirked.
"You can't be serious," Skye said with horror on her face.
"Sorry, but yes I am, you shouldn't be moving, remember?" Sam said.
Skye groaned but relented as she really needed to pee.
