Skye was staring at Bobbi, Ward had stormed after Coulson.
"Surprise?" Skye asked, disbelieve in her voice.
Bobbi's grin disappeared, and a look of worry replaced it.
"Are you mad? I know we haven't talked much about someone else joining the team, but it was Peggy who made the decision, be mad at her, I only asked for it to be a surprise," Bobbi said very fast, and Skye just barely understood what she said.
"Bobbi, I am not mad at you or Peggy, I was shocked and happy and a little amused with you saying surprise," Skye reassured her.
"Oh good," Bobbi said.
Skye was about to say something when Fitz yelled from upstairs that they should hurry up and buckle up, or May would take off with them just standing there. So they hurried up the stairs and sat down in the seats by the table where Simmons and Fitz were sitting, Ward was sulking in a seat by the window, and Coulson was either in his office or the cockpit, most likely in his office.
"How did Maria and Sharon take it that they couldn't be the ones joining the team?" Skye asked.
"Well Maria understood, it would be weird that the deputy director joined a small mobile team, and Sharon was not happy, but again it would raise questions if she were to join the team due to her reputation. The first option was actually Kara, then Izzy, but Sharon and Maria were happier that it was me." Bobbi said.
Skye started to laugh, Bobbi and Fitzsimmons looked at her confused.
"Could you imagine me and Kara in a small enclosed place for long periods of time?" Skye asked, Bobbi's eyes widened.
"Oh no," Fitz said from where he was sitting.
"Then it's a good thing that Victoria said no to Kara joining for that reason exactly," Simmons said, Skye let out a chuckle.
They were interrupted when Ward came over to them, he looked at Skye when he spoke.
"The briefing is in a minute," he said.
"Okay, thanks," Skye said, but Ward didn't go away, he seemed to wait for something.
"Thank you, Agent Ward, we were just about to head to the command room, so if you would kindly move so we can get up, you are blocking us in," Bobbi said, Ward looked up at Bobbi with a small sneer, before moving away, or storming away more like it.
"We need to do something about him soon," Bobbi growled, Fitz and Simmons nodded their agreement.
"Let's talk to May later about it," Skye said, the others agreed before standing up and walking to the command room.
The mission was about a new hacker group that was after information, so they could blackmail organizations, countries, and private people, so this mission was right up Skye's lane. Ward had complained that he couldn't help but May had shut him up saying that neither Coulson or she could either. Simmons and Bobbi could help a little, and Fitz a little more, but it was mostly Skye that could do something, until she found someone willing to meet her, or Bobbi pretending to be her.
Simmons and Bobbi made sure Skye still took it easy and ate and drank. May also made sure she rested, she even ordered Bobbi and Simmons to make sure of it. When Coulson tried to say something, May dragged him away, and when he came back he looked ashamed and guilty and told her to rest when she needed it.
Fitz, and Simmons when she wasn't checking up on Skye, worked on a new pair of glasses, like the ones they had used on the mission with Akela Amador, and a new ring that made it possible for Skye to access any tech Bobbi got near, and a small comms unit that they could hide on Bobbi's person.
It took Skye almost four days, but finally there was someone who was willing to meet. Skye had used an old code to reach out, and the person apparently recognized the code, and was very willing to meet.
Now they were in the command room again going over the plan.
"Skye, when and where is the meeting?" Coulson asked.
"They want to meet in a small town in North Dakota, at a dinner called Smithey's, on Wednesday at noon," Skye said.
"Okay, so, that gives us two days to prepare. Ward, I want you inside the dinner and-" Coulson started when Skye interrupted him.
"Sorry, AC, but I don't think that would be a good idea," Skye said.
"You don't think I can handle the target?" Ward asked, Skye glared at him.
"That wasn't what I said," Skye snapped at him, she was getting tired of him. Ward was about to respond, when Coulson stopped him.
"Please elaborate on that Skye," Coulson said.
"Well Ward screams agent, the moment the target sees him they will run," Skye explained.
"Okay, then May I want you inside the diner and Ward drive the van," Coulson said.
"Wait, seriously?" Ward asked, shocked that he was so easily put in the van as a driver.
"Yes, Skye knows more about the people we are looking for, since she was one," Coulson reminded everyone, Skye looked down a little, and Bobbi moved closer to her, but Ward was still angry, he didn't say anything though.
"Skye and Fitz, you are in the van doing your thing," Coulson said.
"Simmons, you are with me, we are staying on the Bus, running things from here," Coulson said, everyone nodded.
They were making their way back from the diner, the hacker, a woman in her early twenties, who had given the name Alex, in tow. Bobbi had done great up until she had misheard what Skye said, due to a bad connection, but May was fast to bring the hacker down before she could run.
Ward had been sulking the entire mission due to him being the driver or something else, Skye didn't know, and honestly, she didn't care much anymore.
May put Alex in the cage and went to join the others in the command room, the screens were showing the cage.
"I can go in," she heard Ward say.
"No, May and Skye will handle the interrogation," Coulson said.
"Wait, me?" Skye asked, looking at Coulson.
"Yes, you will know more about how to talk to someone like her," Coulson said, May raised an eyebrow at what he said.
"As a hacker I mean," he quickly added, having seen the lifted eyebrow.
"When are we going in?" Skye asked May.
"Let's wait a little while," May said looking at the monitor.
"She looks like she is very comfortable," Bobbi said, frowning at how relaxed the women looked.
Ward huffed, but everyone ignored it, May looked like she was thinking hard.
"Then let's get in there and see if we can make her sweat," May said, gesturing for Skye to follow.
When May opened the door, Alex didn't even bat an eye.
"I thought you people would let me sweat a little more," Alex said.
"We would, but you looked very comfortable in here," May said sitting down, Alex smirked at that.
Skye followed May's lead and sat down after she had closed the door.
"So, what are we going to talk about?" Alex asked.
"Why don't you start?" May said, Alex hummed thinking.
"No," she just said.
"May I don't think you can get her to give us anything like this," Skye told May, a little hesitantly.
"I know, I am just testing her a little," May answered.
"Okay, then I will, what is your little group called?" May asked, Alex still had a smirk on her face.
"It isn't so little, there are over 80,000 members all over the globe, and not all are hackers," Alex said, still with a smirk.
"Name," May said, Alex gave May a look.
"What do I get out of it?" she asked, May didn't answer for a while and Skye almost jumped when May told her to continue.
"What do you want?" Skye asked, Alex was now looking at her.
"Tell you what, I give you the name, plus the names of members that I know of, and I can walk away from here and disappear," Alex said, leaning back in the chair.
"How many names do you know?" Skye asked.
"Around 300," Alex said.
May stood up and gestured for Skye to follow.
In the command room they were watching May and Alex talk.
"Why did you have Skye go in there when she isn't doing anything?" Ward huffed.
"Seriously, have you forgotten everything you learned at the academy? Besides, Skye and Alex can recognize an agent or cop from a mail away, don't you think they can recognize a hacker too?" Bobbi said, narrowing her eyes at him, Coulson stepped between them and told them to stop it.
Then they heard Alex offering a deal of 300 members and the name of the organization in exchange for walking free.
"Now it makes sense when she overtalked in the beginning, it wasn't overtalking," Bobbi muttered to herself, Ward was about to say something when May and Skye came back.
"What do you two think?" Coulson asked May and Skye.
"Well, she is a hacker, and a lot of hackers have self-preservation. If they can save themselves they will, and she may be one of them, I believe her," Skye said.
"I do too," May said, Coulson nodded.
"Okay, I will contact HQ and set it all up," Coulson said and went up to his office.
It wasn't long until Coulson came back with a signed deal for Alex to sign, he gave it to May, who again dragged Skye with her back to the cage.
"Back so soon?" Alex asked, sitting up straight.
"This is the deal we got for you," May said, putting the document down on the table, May and Skye watched as Alex read it.
"Okay, do one of you have a pen?" Alex asked, May handed her one and Alex had it signed in no time.
"So, names," May said.
"They are in my phone," Alex said.
"We checked your phone, there is nothing there," Skye said, having looked through it herself.
Alex smirked at her.
"Want to bet?" Alex asked, when the door opened, and Coulson came in with the phone.
"No funny business," he said, setting it down.
Alex took her phone and took the cover off before removing the back piece and taking out a SD card that was there, sliding it over the table in front of Skye.
"I am assuming you want to verify that there is actually something on it and that it is names, right?" Alex asked.
Skye looked at May and Coulson who both nodded, May slid her iPad over to Skye so she could check it right away.
It didn't take more than five minutes until Skye told them everything was good, after that they let Alex go. Ward had been in a mood about it, since she had posed a danger to SHIELD, but Coulson had shot him down.
"So, anyone hungry? It's on me," Bobbi said, Skye and Fitzsimmons jumped at the offer, Coulson said he had paperwork to do, Ward just glared and stomped off, and May said sure.
So, the five wolves went out to get some food, while Coulson asked Ward up to his office after they left.
