I bounce back several steps from Barry, blood dripping from my forehead, my left forearm, my left thigh and my right hip. I threw my blade at him some time ago and have since lost track of it. I stomp my foot to the ground, a wall of earth shooting up and blocking Barry from striking another blow. I pant, wincing at the pain in my side. 'What's the point of having advanced healing capabilities IF THEY DON'T WORK WHEN I NEED THEM?!' Lillian's laugh echoes in my mind. 'They only work when I'm in control or after a fight for you.' I growl, muttering curses for the stupidity of some of my powers. I glance over at Al who seems distracted. 'I can't be too concerned with Al right now, I gotta hold off Barry!' Said psychopath jumps over my earthen wall, swinging his blades in an attempt to slice me up. I yelp and fly back several yards and land, growling. "ALPHONSE!" I shout. "I COULD USE A HAND!" Al snaps out of whatever thoughts are going through his head and charges Barry. The two lock arms and I hear Barry tell Al something. I can't hear it but he is REALLY PISSING ME OFF. I fly at Barry, shoving him away from Al and kicking him into the building. "STAY OFF HIM YOU JERK!" I shout, a green aura exploding around me, my hair defying gravity. I fly at him again, dust billowing in my wake. Barry just barely dodges my punch. My fist breaks through the wall, pieces of concrete flying, a few nicking my cheeks. Barry raises his ax-knife, cackling madly. "I've got you now!" I break free of the wall and kick Barry in the face, his head flying backwards. Barry yelps and spins around, chasing after his head. My aura dissipates, leaving me panting heavily. "I'm… getting much too… *gasp* old for this…"
I take a deep breath and draw a circle in the air with my hand in front of me, fire sparking into existence. I throw my hand forward, flame spewing forth and nearly catching Barry had he not moved. I growl and flick my arm down and back, my mind bring forth the image of Ed versus Greed. That technically hasn't happened, but I know it's going to soon enough. I deadpan. "Aww man. I don't know if I'll be there for that." I sigh. "It'll be worth it I suppose." I'm so focused on this train of thought that I don't notice Barry running at me until almost too late. I dodge his blows by cartwheeling away from the building and towards Al. I push off the ground and backflip so that I'm next to Al, who's mind is elsewhere. Again. I elbow him harshly. "Pay attention or we're both mincemeat!" Just then Barry's blade flashes close to Al's face, his instincts of putting an arm just saving his head. "What's the matter bub?!" Barry shouts. "You're slowing down! Got somethin' on your mind?" He laughs. "Seems like even an ARTIFICIAL SOUL ain't perfect! The tiniest doubt enters your big metal head and you have a break-down!" Al blocks another blow as I just narrowly dodge being crushed by his huge metal foot. "Watch it!" I shout, getting several feet away from the fight. "Sh-shut up!" Al shouts at Barry. "I'm not-" He's cut off by Barry slicing at him. Their forearms lock in a blocking contest. "Just accept it." says Barry. I can nearly see his creepy grin. "You'll feel better that way." Barry uses his free hand to punch Al in the side, knocking the larger, but younger, suit over. I gasp and run. "Al!" Barry laughs insanely and lifts his blade. "I've got you now!" He shouts.
I skid in front of Al just as two bullets puncture Barry's glove, knocking his blade away. We all three gasp and turn to see- "Lieutenant Ross! Sergeant Brosh!" I call, happier to see them than I can explain. "Don't move!" shouts Ross, pointing her pistol at Barry as Brosh starts towards me and Al. Ross' expression is scarily serious and the fact that she's holding a gun is making her as scary as Hawkeye. I sweatdrop at the thought. "Next time I aim for your head." She says. I swallow nervously. "Now be quiet and hand the big guy and the girl to us." "Who the hell are you guys?" asks Barry. "We're the ones who are guarding the two you're trying to kill." I grin at Barry and stick my tongue out. Al grabs my arm and draws me back a step. Barry sighs, annoyed. "Aw nuts! Frickin' bodyguards! Just when things were getting interesting too!" He rubs the side of his head as he remembers something. "Hey, shouldn't those security guards have kept out you riff-raff? Oh yeah, I chopped them up, didn't I?" My eyes widen. 'He didn't kill just the one guy?! He killed all three of them?!' My stomach threatens to heave at the thought of those men and their families. Barry shrugs. "My bad." Ross and Brosh exchange nervous glances as Barry tries to think of… something. Al pulls me behind him when it happens.
That low creaking sound.
Like a building about to give way.
I gasp and spin to face the building. The whole thing is rumbling and leaning this way and that. The whole building seems to jump as an explosion sounds from inside. I stumble backwards, falling on my butt in surprise. "An explosion?!" Ross runs over to Al and I. "We have to evacuate!" She shouts. I gasp. 'Ed! Where's Ed?! He should've been out by now right?' "My brother!" Al shouts over the sound of rubble collapsing. He starts towards the building and I follow after when Ross grabs Al's arm. "Where are you going?!" She shouts. "My brother's still inside! Let me go!" "Don't be a fool!" snaps Ross. "If you go in there, you'll be crushed too!" "Then I'll go!" I shout. Ross and Al both look at me in surprise. I slap my fist to my shoulder, mimicking the salute I saw on Attack on Titan. "I'm damn near indestructible!" "But Ed isn't!" Ross points out. I open my mouth, desperately trying to think of a way to convince Ross I can save Ed when I notice a figure in the dust cloud. My immediate reaction is to point and scream. "HOLY CRAP! WHO'S THAT?!" They both spin around to see who I'm talking about. The dust parts to reveal an all too familiar face that I'd rather stayed gone. Envy smirks and waves as he walks in our direction. It takes a moment before I realize that he's got someone slung over his shoulder. "Hello there." Envy says, his mini-skirt thingy swishing. "I'm here to deliver a package." My eyes widen and I hear Al and Ross gasp as we all have the same revelation.
"EDWARD!" I scream, dashing forward as the homunculus drops Ed in front Al and Ross. Ross kneels, holding Ed from under his arms. Envy stands and takes a step back as I whip out the small sword I found once again. "His wounds aren't too bad, but he's losing blood, so you'd better get him to a hospital, quick." A vein starts to pound on my forehead as my inner Grammar Nazi kicks in. 'Too. Long. Of. Sentence. Must. Not. Strangle.' Envy huffs, ignoring me. "You guys should take better care of the little guy. He's quite talented, you know." He pauses for a moment. "We can't afford to lose him."
I frown as Ross and Al start fawning over Ed's unconscious form. Envy glances my way, finally noticing my presence. He scoffs and looks me up and down. "Lose something over here?" I narrow my eyes at him, my sword flashing up and nearly touching his throat. The palm tree takes a surprised step back. "The next time we meet, I'm going to cut your head off." I say, struggling to think of anything I ought to tell him, like how much I hate him. He frowns and then smirks. "Alright, fine. Threaten the guy who saved the pipsqueak." The corner of my mouth draws upward into a sneer as the jerkward palm tree backs into the dust. "Says the guy who knocked him out in the first place!" I snap, growling at the spot where Envy had been. I turn as Ross pulls on my arm. Brosh has Ed on his back. "C'mon!" We all four then turn and run like hell.
I run backwards, flicking my hands upwards, creating barriers of earth to block some of the rubble. I wince as a few pieces hit my forehead. We run all the way across the road before the rubble finally stops hitting my face. I sigh and spin around, following the others. "Where are we going?" I ask. Ross glances over her shoulder at me and Al, who fell back some to stay next to me. "A little clinic run by some friends." she responds. I glance at Al with a confused look, to which he shrugs.
When we arrive at the clinic, Ross yells to someone. Several doctors and nurses, a stretcher, and med kit are rushed towards us. I catch the faintest glance of some needles and syringes and nearly faint out of terror. Al manages to catch me as the color drains from my face. "Lisa!" He cries. A few of the doctors hang back to check on me as the rest rush Ed off to some emergency room. Al props me onto one of the chairs here in the waiting room as the doctors start to check me over. I'm not completely sure of what they're doing, but I don't see any needles or syringes, so I'm fine now. I sigh and rub my hand over my face. I stop when I realizes that my hand feels wet. I hold it in front of me to see it's now covered in blood. I merely stare at as one of the docs start checking the cuts on my face. I frown and flick my hand away, shaking away any memories that might spring up. 'I do NOT need a feel trip right now.' One of the doctors stands, looking quite… befuddled. "Something wrong?" asks a nurse. The doc shakes his head. "That's just it. Her wounds are almost completely healed." I smile at the doc innocently. "It was only a few scratches." "A few scratches?!" exclaims Brosh who has been standing by Al, which I hadn't noticed till now. God he needs to talk more. "You were covered in wounds! You're leg was spurting blood and you're forehead was nearly gushing!" I take it back. He needs to shut up. I shrug, playing on the innocent girl I can be. Sometimes…
A few more minutes of the docs checking me over results in me being nearly mummified as a "just in case" thing, though I suspect Ross was worried I might bleed to death, considering the fact I was basically dripping in blood during the fight. I wander down the halls of the tiny building. Well, tiny for Central. I eventually happen upon Ed's room, only realizing it by the fact that I can hear said blonde midget griping about being back in a hospital.
I open the door and peek inside to see Ed sitting up, his arms just lying by his sides. I smirk and pull the door slightly closed. 'You'll give the kid a heart attack, you know. Especially all that he's been through tonight.' I shrug, grinning evilly. 'So? It'll totally be worth it.' I throw the door open. "ED-WARD-DIO!" I shout. I hear Ed scream. When I grin at him, I see him gripping his heart, eyes wide in terror. I laugh as sweat dribbles over his face. When he realizes it's me, he smacks his hand to his knee, glaring daggers at me. "DAMNIT LISA! YOU NEARLY GAVE ME A FUCKING HEART-ATTACK!" I laugh even harder, tears springing up and my throat starts going raw. "Th-that was t-he p-p-p-point! AHAHAHAHAHA!" I fall over, clutching my stomach as I cough and laugh at the same time. I can sense Ed glaring at me as I attempt to regain a calmer composure. (Agh, such big words…) I hiccup a few times as I get back on my feet. I lick my lips, chuckling painfully. "God, that was freaking great." I say. Ed glares even more as I grab one of the chairs. I spin it around and plop down, leaning my arms on what is supposed to be the back of the chair. "I can almost swear you've said that before." I say, smiling smugly. Ed narrows his eyes and leans back onto his pillow. "Said what?" "That I gave you a heart attack." I tease. He glares at me from the corner of his eyes, frowning as he attempts to remember. He nods. "Yeah, that time we got mugged." I grin and nod once. "Yeah, you thought I went and blew something up." He rolls his eyes. His mouth is twitching as he tries not to smile, though a bit of a smirk shines through. I grin and lightly punch his metal arm. "See? You're warming up to me now! Admit it!" He rolls his eyes, finally smiling. "Sure, sure. Whatever you think." I smile and rest my chin on my arms.
"So, how's your arm? Looks a bit messed up." He sighs and rolls his shoulder, wiggling his fingers. "I can move some of it, but it feels like it's dislocated." His head hangs as those wavy lines of depression set in. "Winry's going to kill me." I frown and wave the lines away. "I could try and fix it." Ed looks up and meets my eyes, looking surprised when he bursts out laughing. I frown as he laughs. "HAHAHA -ow- HAHAHAHA-ow." He winces every few seconds, chuckling to himself. I frown and cross my arms. He wipes away a little tear away, still chuckling. "I know you've got all those ridiculous abilities and stuff, but I really don't think you know how to fix automail." I grumble and jab his shoulder. "I'll have you know that I've hung out with some of the brightest and most innovative people in the multiverse. I know how a capsule corp capsule works, how to make a working teleporter with just some spare metal sheets and paper clips, how to create a robot that can actually do anything you ask it to. Shall I go on?" He frowns thoughtfully, tapping his knee. "Do you really think you can fix it?" I shrug. "Dunno, but I can try." I crack my knuckles. "Bulma and Tails are universally known as the smartest people in the multiverse and I if I learned anything from them, it's basic mechanics."
-10 minutes later: 3rd Person point of View-
Ross and Brosh walk down the hall of the clinic, on their way to Edward's room. "She just disappeared?" asked Ross for the thousandth time. Brosh sighs and nods. "Alphonse says she wandered off and he hasn't heard anything from her." The lieutenant sighs and shakes her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. "That girl is so much trouble. How did these two even meet her?"
"YEOWCH!"
The two glance at each other before dashing to the room. "Just sit still!" "You're gunna break it!" "NO I'M NOT NOW SHUT UP!" The two officers kick the door open, guns drawn. They both glance around when their eyes land on a rather peculiar sight.
Lisa's got one leg pressed against Ed's side as she's poking around his open automail with a screwdriver. "You're not even holding it right!" She turns and glares at the blonde. "If you'd shut up for two seconds, I might actually get something done!" Ed's got his shirt off and his automail lying to the side. What neither officer notices is the fact that both teens' cheeks are tinted red. Lisa snaps, a piece of cloth appears and she stuffs it into Ed's mouth. He coughs and attempts to swat the thing away. She continues poking about in his automail despite Ed's complaining. Ross slips her gun back into the hollister, Brosh echoing her movements. "Eh-hem?" The teens both glance up at the two officers and a moment of awkward silence ensues. Ed and Lisa blink at the officers and Ross and Brosh stare back, all attempting to think of a way of breaking the awkwardness without causing more awkwardness.
Lisa nearly jumps off Ed's bed and dashes from the room, calling "YOU SAW NOTHING!" The three in the room sweatdrop and glance at each other. Ed's blush deepens with embarrassment as he closes his automail and sits up. "So, uhm… yeah…"
-Lisa's POV-
I stopped running after I left the hallway where Ed's room is. I sigh as I continue wandering around. Normally I hate walking around strange places by myself but this time, I'm not so awkward about it. My stomach isn't threatening mutiny on me and my head isn't hurting. I sigh. 'Not too bad. I think I'll be fine.' I check my wounds to find that they're all pretty much completely healed, nothing more than faint scars now. 'Speaking of Scar...' I grumble at the thought of the Ishbalan while pulling off the bandaging. 'That guy… I don't even know how to feel about him!' I grumble and plop down onto a bench, holding my head in my hands, squishing up my cheeks as I grumble to myself. 'He's so damn complicated! First, he's a bad guy, then later, he's a good guy! I just… AGH!' I lean back into the seat, flopping my hands to my sides. I sigh. "At least he's kinda nice, though, he still owes me a fight from last time." I grumble. I replay the whole thing in my mind.
Memory scene
The gate opens and spits me out. I glance around, trying to figure out where I am when wind starts whistling in my ears. I look down to see tiny building quickly approaching my feet. I gasp and swing my arms around, trying to think of a way to ease my landing. I then notice something going on below: Two people, one approaching the other. I gasp as I realize where I'm going to land. "LOOK OUT!" I scream. The man looks up, his piercing red eyes seem to cut through me as my feet make contact… with his face. It sends him hurtling backwards and me crashing to the ground.
I hear the ground crack and can feel the loud sound all the way from my butt to my head. I feel myself collapse to the ground. 'Damn, with a landing like that, any normal person'd be dead.' I sit up, rubbing my head and tush."Good Gravy that hurt!" I groan. 'Good thing I'm not a normal person.' I glance around when my sight lands on the red-eyed man from before. My eyes widen as I realize something. 'T-that's Scar… so that other person...' I spin around, making eye contact with the golden haired boy I thought I'd never get the chance to meet. 'Edward FREAKING ELRIC!' I manage to contain a girlish squeal of joy when I remember. 'Right, serial killer...' I spin around and jump up, throwing my arms out to keep Scar back. "Don't you take one step closer!" I shout. Scar snarls and glares at me through his sun-glasses. "You will stand aside or I shall eliminate you as well." he says. I smirk, surprising the murderer. "Only if you can get close enough to touch me."
End of memory scene
I sigh and lean back against the wooden chair. "Damn that man, he owes me a freaking fucking rematch…" I stand and decide I ought to go back to apologize to Ed. 'I probably did almost break his arm…' I sigh. 'I hate apologizing to people… it's so… awkward.' I get up walk back towards Ed's room, thankful that I can actually remember where it is. I'm not the best when it comes to remembering things. I sweatdrop as I remember a few of the times that I forgot something: my spelling book, my homework, a school project (oh god, there were many of those.), my lunch… just to name a few. As I wander around a bit, trying to remember which way I'm supposed to walk, I happen upon Ed on the phone, probably talking to Winry about his automail. I shiver and feel sweat start dribbling down my neck at the thought of what Winry will do if she finds out I was messing with Ed's automail. OF FUCKING COURSE, my mind conjures up the image of Winry beating me to death with a wrench. I shiver again before walking up to Ed just as he hangs up.
"So?" I ask, surprising him. He yelps and jumps, turning to me. He sighs and leans against the wall, holding his side. "Don't scare me like that!" he sighs. I chuckle and shrug. "Not my fault you're so jumpy." "Lisa?" I spin around, yelping and somehow managing to trip in the process. I fall and land on my butt. I glare up at Brosh who had walked up behind me with a cup of tea. I hear laughing and when I look up and behind me, I see Ed laughing. I glare up at him and pull myself to my feet. "Who's jumpy now?" he teases. I growl and punch his side. He shouts and dramatically falls to the ground, blood splurting from his wound. Brosh gasps and rushes to Ed's side."Oh no! His wound opened up!"
A few seconds later, I'm pushing Ed's wheelchair back to his room while Brosh walks next to us. "I can't believe you did that!" Brosh reprimands me. "He could've bled out!" I shrug. "No he wouldn't. I could've kept him alive long enough for you to get him blood. Plus, I could've seared the wound." I hold up one hand, a small flame flickering into being while I grin demonically. Brosh yelps and swats at my hand while Ed attempts to squirm away from my evil plan. I laugh and continue pushing the chair. Suddenly Ed glances down a little hallway. "Al?" I stop and Brosh and I both look. Al sits on one of the tiny couches staring at the ground. "Hey Al!" Ed calls, catching the boy's attention. Al looks over at us expressionless. I frown, not liking how Al is acting. "What are you doing over there? Let's go back to the room." Al stares quietly. Ed blinks, not seeming very concerned which bothers me enough for a little steam to rise off my head. "You ok?" Al glances back down at the ground. "It's… It's nothing. I'll be right there." Ed head tilts slightly as he glances up at me and Brosh. Brosh shrugs but I continue to stare at Al. "See you there then." says Ed. I step back and let Brosh push Ed. I can feel both of their eyes on me as the leave. I stand there, not moving as Al looks up at the mirrors across from him. He stands and puts a hand on the mirror, cracking it slightly. His arm quivers before he clenches his hand, breaking more of the mirror. He looks down at the sink. At this point, I can't watch any more before I start crying. I sniffle and wipe my arm across my face.
"Hey Al."
Al glances at me, surprised before turning back to the sink. I frown at the fact that he doesn't respond. I sigh and walk over, leaning my butt against the next sink, crossing my arms.

"..."
"... I'm not leaving till you tell me what's wrong."
"..."
"..."
"... Lisa?"
I turn my head to him, smiling softly. "Yeah Al?" Shadows cover Al's eyes, making it hard to tell what the kid's got on his mind. I sigh and put a hand on his arm. He flinches slightly. "You let what Barry said get to you." I say. He tilts his head down even further. I sigh again.
"..."
"... Lisa…" I nod encouragingly. "... How can you tell a fake soul from a real one?" I sigh, smiling slightly and cross my arms again and look up at the ceiling. "You can't Al. A real soul, a fake soul… there's no such thing. A soul is a soul, regardless of how they came to be." Al doesn't seem to believe me so I sigh again.
"Lisa?"
"Yeah Al?"
"What did you mean when you told Barry you have two souls?" I flinch and freeze up. 'Didn't expect him to say that, did you?' I grit one side of my teeth. "Al…" my throat starts to tighten. "This isn't a story I like to talk about… but you should probably know. You'll find out anyways…"
Ok, guys, I had more, but I wanna wait till the next chapter to bring up Lisa's backstory piece. I hope you enjoyed the story so far and I'm glad that you have supported me up until this point.
