The next morning, I got out of bed and changed into some spar worthy clothes I had gotten from my amazing friends in the world of dragons, capsules and namekians:
An dark green gi, without the trademarked insigni, with a light blue sash around my waist, light blue sweat bands around my wrists and my, now almost mid-back length frizz tied back with a dark green scrunchie. Instead of the gi boots I probably would've stolen from Ashley, I wear a pair of fuzzy green socks.
I didn't feel like wearing shoes.
Sue me.
Anywhosals, I leave the room and start walking down the hall to the kitchen. The moment I enter the kitchen, I duck, the knife that was aimed at my head hitting the wall a good foot above me. I hop back up and glare at Izumi. "If I hadn't sensed that, you could have killed me." She smirks and returns to stirring a bowl of batter. "But you did." I sigh and shrug. 'Jesus this woman is impossible!' growls Lillian. I nod in agreement. 'Tell me about it.' I clamber onto the stool I'd sat on yesterday. "So, what's for breakfast? Or am I going to have to go climb a mountain for food?" I joke, hoping to Truth she won't take me seriously. She scoops a spoonful from the bowl and plops it into a pan. "I'm making pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon." I grin. "That sounds awesome." I then narrow my eyes at her. "You're not going to force me to do some ridiculous task for food, are you?" She chuckles. "No, today, we will spar, and then greet the boys." I nod, happier with that arrangement than what I had imagined would be happening.
Sig then entered the room, kissing Izumi's forehead and I can't help but smile at the adorable thing these two had going on. Big scary man with a teddy bear soft inside, smaller, much scarier lady with the soul of a strict but loving angel. I sigh, resting my chin in my hands. "Miss Izumi? How did you and Sig meet?" The two stop and glance at each other. The happy grins on their faces says I just made a good decision.
"I was running late to get somewhere, with a bear carcass over my shoulder as a young girl.."
"And I accidentally bumped into her…"
"And then he picked up the bear, and our hands touched…"
" And we knew we would get married one day~! " They declared together, Sig holding Izumi lovingly. I sigh. 'Oooooo, I love these two so frigging much… *long happy sigh*' Lillian huffs. 'Whatever. I think it's disgusting. Love is ridiculous and over reacted to.' I sigh, ignoring the dark and unhappy spirit. "That's so romantic~! " I sigh romantically. "I hope one day I'll find someone who will be that happy with me…" I grumble, glancing down at my feet. "Oh." Izumi walks over and tilts my chin up to meet her eyes. "Don't lose hope! Some day you'll find the one." I smile at sadly as she drops her hand from my chin. "Do you really think so?" She smiles. "Of course! Everyone finds that special someone eventually!" She turns back to Sig, both of them with hearts for eyes. I can't help but giggle as the two dance around the kitchen, humming some old song I've never heard of. I sigh, thinking about how cute they are when an image of Ed smiling like the goob he is flashes in front of my eyes. I nearly jump out of my seat, blinking in surprise. 'Uhm, Earth to brain, That should've been a picture of Yami!' "Or should it?' My face turns beet red and radiates heat as Lillian laughs her fat ass off. 'It's your ass too sweetheart!' She laughs as I growl under my breath.
-after breakfast-
I stretch one leg out, bouncing a bit as I reach towards my toes. Izumi and I just finished up dishes and she told me to wait outside while she changed from her sleepwear into something better suited for the day. I jump up and reach my left arm across my chest and twist my waist ever so slightly when Izumi walks outside. "Are you ready?" I ask. "Or do you have another alchemy lesson planned?" She smirks. "You could use the practice." I nod and hit my right fist to my open palm. "Aye, Sensei." She smirks. "Show me what you've got!" I nod and clap my hands, smacking them to the ground, creating earthen pillars that shoot towards her. She claps her hands and touches the one closest to her, blowing the thing to smithereens. I snap, a large hunk of metal appearing at my feet. I clap my hands and create a large circular shield from the chuck. I grin at her confused expression. "The best defense is the greatest offense!" I shout and chuck it at her. She claps her hands again, attempting to transmute the thing and dodge it at the same time. It bounces off a tree and flies right back into my hands. "What kind of metal is that?" She demands. "A little something called adamantium!" I shout and chuck it at her again. This time she catches it and tosses it aside. "No more powers. Only alchemy." I nod. "Aye!" I then transmute an earthen spear and rush at her. She stretches one leg back, ready to smack away my spear when I jab it into the ground and launch over her head and land on a tree branch. I clap and transmute the top of the tree into a cage, which starts to fall down on top of her. She claps and the whole thing explodes, sending me flying. I yelp and force myself to fly AWAY from the house and crash land into the yard.
I push myself from the rut I've created and spit out some dirt. "*cough cough* Eck!" I sit up, pulling my legs under my bottom and spit out more dirt. "Ack! *cough cough* Ew!" I look up to see Izumi laughing. "Nice try kid, but you'll have to do better than that!" Mason shouts from the door. I roll my eyes. "Tch!" I smirk, swirling my wrist slightly and pulling water from the air. Once it wraps completely around my hand, I throw it at Mason, making sure it's ice cold. He lets loose a girlish scream as Izumi and I burst into laughter. "Let's see you win a fight with her!" I call as Mason runs into the house, begging Sig for a towel. I grin at Izumi. "Besides the whole, me-eating-dirt thing, how was I?" I smile up at her hopefully. She smiles and nods. "Very good. I only hope those two idiots are anywhere near as good at fighting." I chuckle and stand. "Trust me, they're pretty good fighters." She smirks. "Izumi! The Elrics are here." Sig calls down the hall. I smile nervously. "Uhm… please don't kill them?" She chuckles and walks inside. I follow her inside, going to the shop instead, and start sweeping the butcher shop entrance when I hear Izumi kick the house's front door open. A lot of screaming and hitting echoes around the block. I sweat drop and sigh. "Those idiots…" I grab one of the clean rags they keep around the shop and tie it around my head like a bandana. I snap, changing from my gi into something better suited for cleaning.
And before any of you weirdos start thinking I'm wearing a kinky little maid outfit, allow me to shatter those visions.
I change into a pair of jeans rolled up to the knees, a slightly stained white t-shirt, and a pair of sandals. I grab one of Izumi's aprons and tie it on before getting on cleaning the windows. A little while after I start, I hear the front door open and the guys come in with Miss Izumi and Sig. I sigh. "I honestly don't even know what to do with those two sometimes…" *ding* I turn around to see someone enter the shop. I sweep up the little pile of dust and dump it out. "Have you come to pick up and order?" I ask. The man in front of me is rather tall, kinda lean but with a good amount of muscle on him, with dark hair that spikes almost straight up, giving me the weirdest image of GT Vegeta… not that I ever needed to see that again… He wears a pair of dark sunglasses, a weird vest looking thing with fur lining that shows off his arms, and what I assume are leather boots and pants. I feel like I should know him from somewhere… He leans his arms on the counter. "Yeah, I'm here to pick up a smokin' chick like you~" He nearly purrs and I feel my face flush. "Uh, I, uh-" He smirks and I get a glimpse of needle sharp teeth. "I'm just messin' with ya babe. But, while we're talkin' about it-" He tilts his glasses down and I get full view of his purple eyes with cat-like pupils. "-why don't cha come party with me? It'll be alot more fun than hangin' around here~." I put the broom down and turn to him. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave if you continue to speak to me like that." I say, forcing on a cool exterior, while my interior boils with embarrassment and… possibly flattery. "This is a place of business and not some kind of bar or strip club." He smirks and pulls at my shirt collar, tugging it to my shoulder. "Aww~ C'mon babe-" I pull away from him and pull my shirt back up. "If you don't leave right now, I'm going to have to get Miss Curtis." "Who?" I roll my eyes at the man. "The woman who owns this building and lives here." "No need to get so-" "MISS IZUMI!" I shout. He chuckles and grabs my arm. "No need to get so feisty, chica." I growl and rip my arm from his grasp. The kitchen door flies open and Izumi storms into the room, Sig and the guys not far behind. "What's going on in here?!" She demands. Before the purple-eyed guy says anything, I point my hand in his face and say "He's harassing me!" Izumi glares at him as he throws his arms up in surrender. "I was just complimenting her." "You were asking me out in a very stalker-ish way!" I snap at him. He chuckles. "Ok, ok, ya caught me. I thought she was cute." "She's sixteen." Says Izumi, grabbing the broom from where I left it. "And by the looks of you, you're much too old to be asking her anything." Izumi points the broom at him. "Now leave!" He chuckles. "Alright, alright, I'm gone." He winks at me. "See ya around babe." My face heats up as I turn away from him. He turns and leaves the building. 'I swear I know him from somewhere...'
"Lisa? When did you get here?" I turn around and grin at Ed and Al. I do a little mock salute. "Long time no see Elrics." "How did you get here before us?" asks Al. Ed nods, glaring suspiciously. I smirk and follow the Curtis's into the living room. "I flew. Duh!" The Elric boys share a confused glance as I plop onto the couch behind the table the others sit at. I throw up my arms in a jazz hands thing. "Super powers! Duh!" Al nods, taking my word for it and that's the end, while Ed just glares at me. "So!" Izumi's voice cuts the boys from glaring at me. "Why are you two here?" "And that's my cue!" I say, getting up and stretching my arms above my head. "I'd rather not hear all this alchemy talk as I am still a novice, so I leave you two nerds to your deaths." The horror stricken faces I get in return send me laughing as I leave the room.
-Ed's POV. (Betcha didn't see that coming XD)-
Al and I sweat drop as Lisa leaves the room, laughing almost maniacally.. 'That girl will be the death of me...'
-Back to Lisa (Cause I only wanted that tiny part. Ed: WHAT WAS THAT?!)-
I skip outside when a little girl come running. "Miss Izumi!" She sobs, running to the door. Just as she runs by me, I lean down and scoop her off her feet. She doesn't look much older than Elysia. "Hey, hey, what's wrong kiddo?" I ask. She rubs her eyes, sniffling. "M-my cat! S-she's stuck!" I smile softly. "C'mon, let's go get Miss Izumi." I turn around and push the door open with my foot. "Miss Izumi!" I call. "What's you're name kid?" "M-menny." She sniffles again. I smile at her as warmly as I can. "Don't worry kiddo." I turn back to see Miss Izumi and the guys coming to the door. "Menny? Is something wrong?" Izumi takes the girl from my arms, looking as worried as she sounded. "It's Chiko. She's on the roof and I can't get her down." Menny sobs to Izumi. Teacher nods and sets Menny down. "Come on, let's go get her." Ed, Al and I follow behind Izumi and Menny.
We arrive at Menny's house, the house I helped Mason fix the roof on. I hold a hand over my eyes, studying the roof. "The cat must've gotten up when Mason and I weren't looking." I tell Izumi, who nods. "Go around back and get the cat." She whispers, which I nod in response before running to go in the backyard- "One of the kitten's is falling!" shouts Alphonse. I look up and gasp. Ed springs into action before I can think of anything, racing up the wall and creating a hand from the wall with a quick transmutation. The kitten lands safely, Ed climbing up beside it. I race around back and float up to the roof, quickly gathering the kittens and their mother in my arms. I slide down the side of the house, presenting the cats to Menny and Izumi. "Chiko!" Menny cries, hugging the cat from my arms… it doesn't respond. I frown and hand the kittens to Al as Menny complains to Izumi. "Why isn't she moving? What's wrong with her?" Izumi places a hand on the cat before sighing sadly. "Menny… Chiko is dead." I frown and rub the cat's side. "Not quite…" I mutter. Izumi shoots me a look when a light blue glow emanates from my hand. I narrow my eyes, imagining energy running from the ground, through my arm and into the cat. I can see a small pulsing light in the cat's chest, signifying the life energy of the weak animal. I focus, trying to see if I can save the cat, when I realize: The cat's energy just continues to deplete as fast as I increase it. I sigh. "I'm sorry Menny, but Chiko won't make it." To make it less painful for the cat, I take it's remaining life force and force it into the ground, mentally guiding it to each of the kittens, pumping their mother's remaining life into them. Chiko mews pitifully and nuzzles Menny's and then my hand, before finally giving out. My stomach twists as I hold back a growl of frustration. 'I hate when animals die...' I want to bring Chiko back, force my own life's energy into her body and let her see her kittens grow, but there's no chance of that … She's gone now. I take a step back before turning around and walking past the guys. I can feel their confused looks as I wipe my nose with my arm, feeling rather upset.
'I cannot believe… that with everything I can do… I can't even help a cat… I literally can't do anything worthwhile…' 'Why are you letting this get to you? It's just a cat.' 'It's not just a cat! It's a living thing, a mother… and all I could do is make it's death quick… what use am I, with all my infinite power, when I can't even help a cat… I fucking hate this… I hate when I get useless like this. WHY AM I SO GOD DAMNED USELESS?!' I growl, feeling my lips curl into an angry sneer as I strut away, heading back to the house. My hands are shaking and I feel my stomach churn with disgust at myself. 'Oh, poor you. Pouty little baby who can't fix everyone's problems. So. What. Get over yourself. You aren't God. You can't make everyone live forever. As Izumi says, "Everything that lives, must eventually die."' I chuckle bitterly. "Since when were you a poet?" 'Since, whenever the fuck I wanted to be. Lisa, stop holding the whole universe on your shoulders. You can't fix everything wrong with the world.' 'I can damn well try.' I sigh and plop down on the front steps of Izumi's house, watching Teacher carry Chiko's body down the street, with Menny and the boys in tow. I glance down at my feet. 'I feel like I'm forgetting something so ridiculously important….'
"Yo. Lisa." I glance up to see Ed standing at the gate. "What?" I ask flatly. He sighs, flicking some hair out of his face with a frown. "What's your deal?" I tilt my chin down and shadow my own face. "I… I don't wanna talk about it…." We both remain silent for a minute before he huffs impatiently. "You coming to this little funeral or what?" I shake my head. "I think I'll stay here and help Sig for a little while…" I glance up through my bangs to see Ed shake his head before turning and following Teacher and the others.
I sit for a few minutes, contemplating what to do now, when I feel a large hand on my head and see a huge shadow at my feet. I glance up as Sig rubs my head. "You alright?" I sniff and rub my arm across my face. "I guess so…" I reply quietly. Sig sits down beside me, making me bounce up a bit. "Something on you're mind?" I sigh sadly. "With everything I can do.. I can't even help a frigging cat survive long enough to see her kittens… I feel so freaking useless Sig…" He sighs, a big deep sigh. "No one can do everything. There was nothing you could do." I frown. "I guess not…"
The sun is starting to go down when the guys return with Izumi. She motions for me and Sig to go inside and we do. Izumi and the guys sit at the table, Sig standing behind Izumi while I mirror him from beside the guys. The boys launch into telling Izumi everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. From when their dad left, to when their mom died, all the way to when Ed got his state Alchemist license.
The room is silent, with a heavy atmosphere after they finish their tale.
My insides are hurting. I hate the background stuff so much. My heart melts at the thought of two boys, barely ten years old, losing their mother and then going through what they've gone through. I bite my lip, wanting to break the tension, but also not wanting to be the one to do it. Izumi sighs and rests her elbow on the table, covering her eyes. "Down the road, about three blocks down, you'll find…" The guys gulp nervously. "A COFFIN STORE! GO DOWN AND BUY TWO IN YOUR SIZE!" The guys squeak nervously as Sig and I share a look, sweating slightly. Izumi sighs. "All joking aside, I told you time and time again to stay away from human transmutation." She glances at her hands sadly. "So the student makes the same mistake as the teacher…" "What?" Ed and Al both look up in surprise. "Teacher," Ed says carefully. "You also… ?" She nods slowly and places a hand on her stomach. "They took some of my insides." "He took her uterus so that, for the child she was trying to bring back, she would never bear another." I hiss the words under my breath, cursing Truth for playing such an unfair game with the lives of mortals. He has no right to do what he does. Ed and Al look at me surprised while Izumi and Sig look sad, Sig's hands on Izumi's shoulders. I lean against the wall crossing my arms. "Truth takes things according to whatever it is one is trying to accomplish, punishment reflecting the action…." My words hang in the air, squeezing the already tense atmosphere.
"Then explain ours…" I look up at Ed, locking eye contact with his hard golden orbs. "How does our toll reflect what we were doing?" "A body for a body, that was Al's. Your's, I don't know how that fits. I guess He didn't either." Ed frowns, not completely satisfied with my answer but accepting it all the same. I AM more likely to understand Truth than anyone else, as I'm practically a demigod… Then Izumi gets up. "You two are the biggest idiots." The boys look down and nod. "We're sorry." She then continues on, going so far as to call Ed a runt, which he takes with hardly a flinch. She stops and I feel myself inhale quickly, expecting her to hit them or something. "...It must have been tough." Ed looks up with wide eyes. He glances away sheepishly, scratching at his temple. "No… we brought it on ourselves… so I guess we kinda got what we deserved…" Al nods in agreement. "Uh-huh…" Izumi walks over to them and puts a hand on Al's shoulder. "You fools…" She says quietly, startling both of them.
She kneels down and hugs them. "You don't have to hold back." Ed freezes up in surprise before his eyes start to water. He presses his face into her shoulder, gripping her side, whimpering softly. "I'm sorry." Al hugs her back. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Ed whimpers over and over and I feel like crying along with them, though I push the feeling aside. 'No more tears. As of now, I've got to stop crying all the time… for them. I have to be strong, so they don't worry about the future… or me.'
I follow the guys down the corridor, hands in my pocket as Izumi and Ed speak about Ed's becoming a state alchemist. Somethin' about him being a genius or something. I dunno. The only thing I really pick up on is Ed's mood. He's rather… mournful. Suddenly they stop. "-hold true to my principles." I peek around Al as Izumi turns and frown. "You're both expelled." The boys gasp and I almost say something, but I know she won't change her mind. "Who cares what they did?" They all look at me in surprise. I'M surprised. 'Where in the fuck did that come from?!' "Regardless of the fact that they did something stupid, like human transmutation, shouldn't you be proud of how far these two have come? Be proud that they're both still alive after all the shit they've seen?" Izumi glares at me. "They broke every rule I ever set down for them-" "So what?!" I snap, strutting in front of the guys to be toe-to-toe with the woman. "Rules are boundaries set by people who believe they know best. But all rules are made to be broken! If people didn't break rules, didn't do what their hearts told them to, where would we be?! Would Alchemy, or even humanity exist? Without people like these two, people would still be living in caves!" "That is no way to speak to your elder!" Izumi snaps, growling slightly. I growl right back. "You aren't my elder! I'm decades older than you or anyone else who lives on this planet! I'm older than most people I've met! The only people who outrank or out-age me are fucking GODS! And even then!"
*SMACK*
My head snaps to the side, my eyes wide. I stumble back a step and turn to meet Izumi's eyes, the flames in her eyes matching mine. She points to the door. "Get out. Now." I growl, my lip curling upwards as I stalk outside. I hear Ed and Al speaking to her and then go quiet. My breath is heavy and hot. I shout at the sky and kick a wall as hard I can, sending several large chunks of the building flying. Great, now there's a giant fucking hole in the wall. I rub my red and irritated cheek angrily. 'FUCK! GOD FUCKING- ERGH!' I kick the ground, scuffing my sandals. Angrily I snap. A large plastic knife drops to the ground. I growl and throw it as far as I can. "No! I need new clothes not a fucking toy!" I scream angrily before biting my hand. I taste the horribly familiar metallic tang as blood gushes into my mouth and drips to the ground. I shake my hand, letting the blood splatter about and dribble down the sides of my mouth. I pant heavily, my whole body shuddering from how mad I am. I kick the ground again before dropping to the ground and glaring at my feet.
I don't know how long I sat there, long enough that I can't feel my butt from the cold and hard surface, when I feel a hand on my shoulder. "Come on nutcase." I don't need to glance up to know who it is. "Leave me alone Edward." I growl. Ed sighs and sits beside me. I turn my head away, refusing eye contact with the golden haired boy.
"..."
"..."
"... If you have something to say, say it."
He sighs and rubs the back of his head. "... Thanks… for… trying to stand up to Teacher for us… not many people have the guts to do that after knowing her for a few minutes…" I try to force a frown, but my mouth curls into a small smile. "I should probably apologize to her if I wanna survive the next time I see her, but I think I'll leave it for a bit." Ed glances at me with a horrified look and I grin at him. His mouth twitches before he chuckles and then laughs out loud. I find myself laughing right along with him. We both laugh loudly, to the point that there are tears in our eyes.
I figure this is a good stopping point.
So I was reading the manga to kinda speculate what Lisa will do later and I found this thing.
OH
MY
GOD.
So Al's been kidnapped and stuff an Greed's trying to get him to spill the beans on how he became a suit of armor and Al said AND I QUOTE "Well that would be my big brother… but he… he's gone." As a recap, Ed went to Southern HQ for his state alchemist exam thingy to keep his license. The whole group all starts freaking out, Greed even says "Was that rude of me?"
THEY ALL THOUGHT ED WAS DEAD!
I'VE BEEN SITTING HERE SQUEALING AND CRYING OVER IT BECAUSE!
