I apologize now for the last chapter's author's notes, in case I offended anyone's aibou/wafu. I am a horribly biased person it seems. To Envy fan-girls, my reason for hating Envy are stated, quite loudly, by Lisa in the author's notes as well as the actual story. To Mustang fangirls… I have no words for you. Alphonse fangirls, Al is great and all, but he isn't quite close to the top. '03 series he is much higher on the list
That is all. DON'T HATE ME!
I follow behind the guys once again, kicking at the ground as I walk. Ed and I had sat on the ground for a good 5 minutes before he started complaining about the cold ground and how we had to leave now. We're following Sig to the train station to leave. I feel really guilty now… I really ought to apologize to Izumi for what I said… After all, she did teach me more about alchemy than I ever would've learned on my own. "Al! What did we come to Dublith for anyway?!" Al gasps. I glance up as the two boys dash past me, back towards… "Where the hell are you guys going?!" I shout, turning around. "C'mon Lisa!" Al shouts. I sigh and shrug at Sig before dashing after them. "What are we doing?!" I ask, finally catching up to Al. "We forgot to ask Teacher about the Philosopher's stone! We're going back to ask her about it!" I sigh. "She's gunna kill all three of us!" I shout at Ed. "I don't care!" he shouts back. "We came here for information and we're gonna get it!" I sigh, exasperated. "I swear to god…" Ed reaches the house first, kicking open the door.
"Teacher!"
*KA-TWANG*
I gulp at the knife jammed in the wall above Ed's head. "HOW DARE YOU COME BACK HERE!" I yelp as another knife flies and hits right next to my head, snatching away a few stray hairs. I squeak and fall to the ground. "I DON'T CONSIDER SCUM LIKE YOU MY STUDENTS! NOW SCRAM!" I swallow a nervous squeak as the guys sit on the ground, fists to knees. "We came here to find a way to get our original bodies back!" says Al. "We can't go home empty handed!" snaps Ed. I duck out of the doorway and out of Izumi's firing range- *KA-TANG* Another knife hits by the doorway, right on front of my nose. I squeal and jump, falling on my butt.
"LEAVE!" she shouts.
"We're not leaving!" Ed and Al shout back.
"I'll cut you up!"
"We're not leaving, even if you cut us up!"
"I told you to leave now get the hell out!"
I sweat drop at the yelling competition as Izumi continues to threaten them and they continue refusing to leave. The yelling pauses as the three start a staring contest, seeing who will break first.
Izumi sighs and shakes her head. "You idiots."
I sigh, relieved she hasn't tried to kill me ye- *KA-TANG* Another knife in my face. I drop to my knees, holding both hands over my head. "I'm sorry! Imsorryimsorryimsorry! I didn't mean any of it!" I cry, basically begging for mercy. Izumi sighs. "Don't ever do that again." I nod frantically. "Yes Sensei!"
In the living room, Izumi asks Al if he saw the Truth. "I have no idea what this "Truth" you're talking about is…" "Hmm…" Izumi taps her chin. "Maybe the shock made you forget? We have to get Al's memory back. After all, his entire body was taken. Think what he might have experienced." Ed gasps. "I get it! That guy talked about a "toll" ! I just paid my arm and leg… but with what Al paid, he must've been the closest to the Truth!" "So if I can remember what happened, we'll have the answer?!" Both Ed and Izumi frown, thinking. Ed stares at Al concernedly. Izumi rubs her chin. "But the memory of that thing…" says Izumi. "Yeah… that THING…" A weird atmosphere settles into the room. "Huh? What thing? Is it bad?" asks Al, confused and slightly scared. I grin and snap, pulling a white morph suit from the air. "It's not bad, per se… more like weird…" Sensei and Ed both do the octopus thing."Yeah, really weird." Ed throws in. Al gets the confused chibi face thing. "That's too abstract! I don't get it!" I pull on the morph suit and draw a big creepy grin. "I believe this is what they are talking about." I say, using my best Truth voice. They all glance at me. Izumi and Ed scream and I burst into laughter.
*KA-TANG*
I scream as the knife flies above my head and a pillar of alchemical earth flies up next to my face. I rip the face of the morph mask up, my whole face burning with terror and surprise, plus my laughter. "HOLY FUCKING SHIT! WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! ARE YOU TRYING TO TAKE MY FUCKING HEAD OFF! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!" I let loose a whole string of curses before Izumi yells "SHUT UP!" I squeak and hit the deck as several more knives fly towards me, striking the wall. I peek over the couch. "Look, I'm sorry okay?! Geez! I was just showing him what it looks like! Unlike you guys, I can actually show what He looks like AND impersonate Him pretty damn good! Jesus!" I climb over the chair and plop into it, sticking my lip out in a pout. Ed glares at me and Izumi watches me suspiciously. They continue to talk about it, but I get up and go to my room, not wanting to deal with this right now.
I walk up to my room, which is actually right across from the guys' room, and close the door behind me. I lean against the door and sigh, putting my hand on my forehead. 'God All-fucking-mighty, that woman is trying to kill me.' 'No fucking duh, smartass.' I sigh. 'Not now Lil. I'm not in the mood.' 'THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!' I grumble a few more choice words before grabbing my bag. I dig around in it and pull out a large baggy t-shirt and some fluffy sweatpants. I walk down the hall and hunt down a towel before heading to the restroom to take a shower. "LISA!" I hear Izumi call. I glance over my shoulder. "I'm gonna take a shower!" I shout downstairs and enter the bathroom. 'When was the last time you had a bath?' When we were in Central, just before the Hughes' incident.' 'So you still got blood on you?' 'Shut the fuck up.'
-later that night-
I sigh and curl up on my bed, pulling out the book I left in my bag, the same one I was reading when we were in Resembool. "Ehehe, Tigerstar, you douchebag… You get murdered twice. Ha." 'You know I talk to him sometimes?' 'He ever bite you?' 'Once… He learned.' I sigh. "Weirdo." I mutter. I flip the page, humming quietly, when I hear a soft knocking. I glance up to see Ed. He holds up one hand. "Didn't scare ya, did I?" I rolls my eyes and scoff. "Oh, shutup." He chuckles and rubs the back of his neck. "Can I, uhm…" I sit up and smile. "What's up dork?" He grumbles something and then sighs. "I need to talk to you… about Al." His voice is quiet and I know this is serious stuff. I scoot over.
"Sit down." He closes the door behind him and sits beside me. "Do we… ever get his body back?" I smile softly. "In time, yes… but with me here, it's up for debate." He frowns at me confusedly. "What does you being here have to do with this?" I sigh. "I already explained this to you… or was it Al?" I wave my hand in front of my face shaking my head. "I dunno. I get conversations mixed up alot. Anyways, like I said, my being here has messed up your world as it is. I didn't actually expect things to stay so close to the original time line actually… But, like a body with a virus, your world, and time, will attempt to "fix" anomalies, like me. I wasn't meant to exist in this world. The only reason I haven't been spat out into the void, is because Truth, the God of this dimension, has allowed me to be here. Eventually, when I do whatever this thing he has planned, He or the universe itself, will reject me from here." I glance down at my hands and poke my fingers together. "So… when you do this… thing, Truth will just get rid of you? Just like that?" asks Ed, sounding confused and the itsy bitsy-iest concerned. "Does that mean you're immortal till you do it?" I chuckle and shake my head. "Nah, if I die in this world I just get sent into the void, Truth gets no say in that." I glance at him to see a weird frown. I chuckle again and straighten up so I'm just taller than him. "Now don't go thinking that means I'll just drop dead of some crazy illness or something. I was promised the day I became this weird demigod you see before you that anytime I die, in an alternate dimension or for real, it'll be in battle or of old age. Never illness or anything like that." I pat my hand to my heart. "I'll die on the battlefield a thousand times before I'm old enough to die naturally!" Ed chuckles and shakes his head. I grin and punch his shoulder, to which he winces and rubs his shoulder. Flesh shoulder: hit. Hell yeah! "I knew it! No one can hate me for long!" I frown and lean my elbows on my knees. I pucker out my bottom lip and pout. "Except those douchey bad guys, like Cell and Bakura…" Ed sighs and punches me back. I wince and lean away, rubbing my own arm. "Who the hell said I hated you, you weirdo?" I grin at him and chuckle. "I kinda assumed. You did act like you hated me for awhile there ya know." He shakes his head and flops onto his back. "Nah, didn't hate you. Don't think I've ever hated anyone…" I lean over and grin down at him. "No one, 'cept your old man, right?" Ed scoffs and glances away, frowning now. "Can you blame me? He up and left us after all." I sigh and flop beside him and poke his arm, the automail one. "Did you ever wonder why?"
He scoffs again. "Why would I care?" He grumbles. "That bastard is the reason why Mom is dead… she was waiting on him." He says distantly. I sigh and turn onto my side before poking his cheek. "There's a lotta shit I know about your Dad that I bet you never coulda guessed." "Like what?" Ed asks nonchalantly. I shrug. "Oh, lots 'o stuff…. But-" "You're not going to tell me, are you?" I grin and poke his nose. "Now you're catching on." He looks at his nose in confusion, eyes wide in surprise. I laugh and flop back onto my back and turn to look at him. "Edo, ya gotta realize something. I'm one of the weirdest, most random, and ridiculous people you'll ever meet. And don't you ever forget that." He sits up, frowning with his bottom lip out as he taps his nose. "No kidding." He mumbles. I grin one of those goofy, closed-eye grins, where you tilt your head slightly that I see on animes but no one in real life actually does. "Till I do whatever it is I gotta do, you're stuck with and my weirdness, so get used to it!" I open my eyes and grin.
"Boop."
I say and tap his nose. He frowns at me confusedly. "Wha-" I jump up and tap his nose again. "You been booped Edo, and now ya gotta get rid of it!" I skip backwards and out of the room. "And you'll never catch me~!" I call as bounce away. He grins and growls before clambering to his feet. "Watch me!" He shouts and dashes from the room. I squeal and spin around, running downstairs, Ed just behind me. At the last few steps, I jump and sprint into the kitchen, laughing my head off.
"You'll never catch me!" I scream as I burst out the back door. I hear Ed skid on the wood floor, reminding me that we're both wearing just socks. "Just you wait!" he shouts, not far behind. I giggle and dash into the field behind the Curtis's house. "Don't go too far!" I hear Sig call faintly. I burst into a fit of laughter as I run across the field, bounding as far as I can go with the distance between me and Ed growing as he runs out of steam while my adrenaline spikes. I spin around and jog backwards. "C'mon Ed-ward-dio! I'm not even breaking a sweat and I've got asthma!" "What?!" His baffled screech makes me laugh even harder, to the point I start coughing, trying to breathe. I skid to a stop and hold my stomach, laughing and coughing at the same time. I can actually feel tears sparingly streaming over my cheeks. I drop to my knees and just cough, attempting to remember how to breathe again. I hear Ed say something before a hand pats my back, a voice saying things I can't hear before I hit myself in the stomach with the side of my arm. I take a couple deep breaths before one last deep cough before I plop backwards onto my butt, rubbing away those last few pesky tears.
Ed's concerned face fades into view. "-okay now?" I chuckle and nod, a few little coughs popping out of my throat. "Y-yeah. Fine now. *cough*" I peer up at him through squinted eyes, smiling. "Like I s- *cough cough* said. Asthma." He sighs and shakes his head, sitting beside me and smiles. "Remember that whole 'You're going to give me a heart attack someday' thing?" I nod. "Yeah?" He sighs and laughs. "Well, you've done it again. Proud of yourself yet?" I stretch my legs out and nod. "Yup." He shakes his head. I grin and push his face away playfully. "GAWD, you are SUCH a goober!" I laugh and fall onto my back, hugging my stomach happily. Ed half frowns and sighs. A sudden look of 'I just remembered something' spreads across his face. I sigh when he pokes my nose. "Boop." He says, grinning childishly. I frown up at him poutily. "Pooh." I boop his nose again. "Boop!" He swats my hand away and pokes my cheek.
"Where did you even think up something like this? When you were five?" I laugh and shake my head. "Nah, me and mah friend Tay came up with it during school. She's every bit as weird as I am, a bit more so." He frowns, disbelieving. "Oh really?" I nod and shake his shoulder. "Yush Edy, there are people who baffle even I!" He shakes his head as I stare up at the sky. "Yeah… I kinda miss her. People say that we act like we've known each other for a long time." "How long have you actually known her?" I grin up at him. "You won't believe me." He scoffs. "I don't believe alot of stuff you say." I roll my eyes and punch his shoulder again. I wince and immediately cradle my sore hand. Automail arm. Dammit. He laughs and flops beside me. "Spill." He elbows me. I roll my eyes. "I only met her at school this year." He props himself onto his elbows. "No." I grin and nod. "Hell fucking yeah." Ed rolls his eyes. "Next you're going to tell me she's your soul sister." I shrug. "Dunno. Haven't checked yet." He punches my arm. I yelp and sit up, rubbing my arm. "Ow! Ok, geez! I'm just messing with you! I don't know if that's actually a thing!" He rolls his eyes and I flop back down.
We sit in silence for a moment. Not the awkward or tense kind like what it's normally like when it's the two of us, but a calmer feeling to it, like we're actually friends or some junk….
"Hey Ed?" I ask, not taking my eyes off the sky. "Yeah?" I can see him turn towards me out of the corner of my eye. "I just noticed something… you guys have different constellations than we do." He frowns and sits up, looking at the sky. "I guess you should've expected that. Different worlds and all." I hold my arm up and flick my wrist, scuffing his cheek. "Nah! This is still planet Earth. Same planet, different star settings. I've been to a few dimensions that have the same constellations as my world." He frowns down at me. "How'd you even notice that?" "It's almost fall right about now, isn't it?" He nods. "Yeah, but you can't really tell down here, why?" I point up at the sky and he follows my gaze. "About this time of year, the constellation Orion comes out when it gets dark out. I always see him at the beginning of the school year when I'm heading to my bus stop… well, the past three-four years at least." Ed frowns at me thoughtfully. "Arion?" I shake my head. "Orion. With an O. O-R-I-O-N. Some Greek hero or something like that." Ed nods and taps his chin. "Mythology, huh?" I roll my eyes and put my hand in his face. "Don't you dare start gettin' all sciency on me now Edo." He sputters and pushes my hand away. "Do you always feel the need to get in people's personal space?" I grin and nod. "Eeyup!" He sighs and stares up at the stars.
"I've never really done this before…" I say softly. "Done what?" he asks. I chuckle and shake my head. "Just… sat with somebody and talk. I'm normally so focused on other things that I never even thought about this kind of bonding. For the most part, people trust me pretty easily." I turn and playfully glare at him. "Except for you." He chuckles. "Oh really?" I nod. "Yeah. Normally I've saved about three different people twelve different times and they all just believe whatever I say." "Twelve times?! Who needs being saved twelve times?!" I laugh. "The idiots who can wish back anyone any amount of times within a year after their death." Ed frowns. "The guys with the magic orbs?" I nod. "Those idiots are fighting some new, more powerful guy every other day, I swear." I chuckle. Ed scoffs. "Regardless of how many times they can come back, they shouldn't waste their lives so easily, depending on some magic dragon so much." I sit up and punch him the gut. "Hey! They may depend on a dragon, but they always try to avoid it as much as they can! They do everything they can to save their world, no matter what, all the time! So don't insult them! They ARE practically my family afterall!" He coughs and rubs his gut. "Geez, you got a strong right there." I roll my eyes. "Oh shut up." I lay back down and jab his cheek. "You're such a goob…"
'A really cute goob...' I swat the thought away with a moth. 'Oh for the love of- tell him you like him already! You're killing me girly-curly!' I sigh. 'I can't. It'd be too.. awkward… I've only known him for a little while.' She scoffs. 'Has that ever stopped you before? You told Shadow within 12 days of knowing him!' 'Yeah well…' She sighs. 'Still not over Pharaoh boy yet, are you?' I sigh through my nose. 'Not yet...' Lillian scoffs again. 'You were the one who was all, It never actually happened, as far as our timelines are concerned! Oh, we can't be because we never happened! Oh! Oh!' I grumble under my breath. 'I knew him for a few months before I told him! I've only known Ed for….'
"HOLY SHIT!" I abruptly sit up with a shout. If he hadn't been laying next to me, Ed would have fallen over in surprise. "Ah! What?! What!"he cries in surprise. I gasp. "Holy Jesus fucking SHIT!" "What!" Ed demands. I turn to him in surprise. "I didn't realize it till now, but I've been in your world for nearly two months!" "So?" I grab his shoulder. "Aside from my most recent endeavor, the longest I've been in a world is something close to five weeks! I've been here for nearly two effing months!" Ed frowns. "Why does that matter?" "Because I didn't even think about it till just now! That's why!" (Ok, A/N, right here, right now. I'm not sure that's a good estimate, but I'm actually going to go back through the story and check. If someone does it and tells me the time and I find it's right, they get a shout out next chapter) Ed brushes off my hand. "Okay?" I sigh and flop back on the ground. "It sure as hell doesn't feel that long… but I'm not all that good at keeping track of time anyways… weird time spacing in my travels and stuff." He nods slowly. I frown and jabs his cheek again. "What did I tell you? I'm weird. Get used to it." He sighs and pushes my hand away. "Yeah, yeah, I know."
He stands up and stretches. "Come one, before Teacher comes out here to get us." We both shiver slightly. He sighs and extends a hand to me. I smile and feel a bit off heat in my face. I take his hand and he pulls me to my feet. Without letting go of my hand, he starts running back to the house. I gasp. "Ed!" He grins at me over his shoulder. "Come one then!" I grin back and run next to him.
So, yeah, almost twenty chapters now. OMG! and 1000 views too! I feel so good about this damn story.
So I feel the need to say this: This "book" is going to span the entire Brotherhood series… It's going to be long. Please stick around for the ride and we may get a sequel *hint hint*
Ed: YOU ARE NOT DRAGGING ME INTO ANOTHER ONE OF THESE!
Lisa: And what the hell was all that about with me and Ed? *blushing dramatically*
Ed: *pokes Lisa* Why are you blushing?
Lisa: *shoves Ed and leaves*
Lillian: I RUIN ALL THE MOMENTS! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
