Ed and Winry lie on the couch, heads on either arm, sleeping soundly as the sun rises. Alphonse sits on the ground under the window, reading yet another book in the dim light of a lamp. This book happens to show a picture of a bright orange cat on the front just above an image of two cats staring each other down among some tall grass.
The soft squeak of springs and the even softer tap tap of feet does not disturb Al or the sleeping blondes. Down a short hallway, one of the two doors opens and out shuffles an exhausted looking Lisa. Her hair looks almost like an afro, tangled beyond belief atop her head. Her clothes are rumpled, one pant leg sloppily rolled up and the other somewhere between. Her eyes are glazed over and her mouth hangs slightly open. She reaches one hand up to rub her stomach as it grumbles. She sighs and rubs her eyes with her other hand.
She slowly meanders down the hall, running one hand along the wall. She sleepily mumbles a "morning" to Alphonse as she makes her way to the small kitchen. Al doesn't bother to look up, muttering something unintelligible.
Lisa pulls open one of the cupboards, pulling a bowl and some cereal from the cabinet. She carries it to the counter and pours cereal in before getting the milk.
Al glances up, to find the source of the clinking sound. The moment his soulfire eyes land on Lisa, he jumps to his feet, dropping the book with a loud gasp. "LISA!" Ed falls off the couch with a loud yelp from the force of Al jumping to his feet.
The brunette mumbles something in response, eyes closed as she starts to eat the cereal.
Ed scrambles to his feet, spinning around to glare at Al. "What the hell Al?!" Alphonse points to Lisa who looks to be in the midst of nodding off while eating. "LISA!" Ed shouts. "WHAT THE HELL-" "Shhhhhhhh…" She holds a finger to her mouth, shushing the boys loopily before returning to sleep eating…. or whatever she's doing.
Winry then choose that moment to wake up. "Would you all keep it down?" she demands irritably. Lisa mumbles something, pulling the spoon from her mouth. Ed throws his hands in the air, growling before angrily running his hands through his hair before pointing at Lisa. "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE IN BED!" Winry glances to the sleepy demigod before jumping to her own two feet and yelling. "LISA!"
She swallows the last of her cereal before yawning. "Yeah yeah.." she mumbles and shuffles back towards the bedroom.
-Lisa's POV-
The moment I collapse back onto the bed, the door flies open and in barges Ed. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" he demands. "Sleeping?" I offer. 'Damn, my fucking head hurts. It feels like my head's gonna explode….' I grumble and curl into a ball, lazily pulling the blankets half over my head and body, leaving my poor legs uncovered. I curl my fingers over my ears, leaving Ed's shouting to be partially muffled.
I feel myself zone out as Winry's voice pierces through Ed's yelling. The sound of their voices fades as the blanket shifts, covering my legs. "Try not to sleep all day, but get some rest." Al's echoey voice breaks into my half-dead mind. "Mhmmm…" I mumble, snuggling deeper into the mass of fluff and softness. He sighs and his body makes a muffled clanking as he leaves the room.
I sigh and allow my eyes to fall closed. 'Maybe it'll be different...'
-dream-
"Bu-but, I-I…" my voice is squeaky as I take another shaky step back. "I never meant to-"
"To what?" comes the begging voice, the heartbreaking sound of defeat. "To leave? Never meant to come back?" Amethyst eyes, misty with tears hold mine. "Lisa, please-"
A snort sounds and the tall form steps around the upset pharaoh. "If you never meant to come, then leave." To anyone, he sounds angry, but I know him so well. He feels betrayed, hurt… and it's because of me.
"Run on back to your new world." Barks the voice of the blonde New Yorker. "Leave again, and don't come back!"
"It's not like you actually care about any of us." Snarls the tall brunette girl.
The young boy with hair longer than his body clings helplessly to his brother's coat. "You left us…" he whimpers.
"Th-that's not true!" I choke on the words, tears water falling down my face.
"You've been avoiding him like the devil!" shouts a younger version of the first purple-eyed male, pointing to heart-broken man.
"I-I"
"You've abandoned us!" shouts a tall white-haired male wearing blue and white.
A stocky blond with tan skin clutching a golden rod stares at me with puppy-dog eyes. "Did Melvin do something wrong?" he asks sadly, shaking.
"It wasn't you." says the british albino before shooting an evil look at me. "It's her."
They all turn and walk away, the first man, the boy and the tanned blond man glancing back mournfully. I sob and reach towards them. "Please! Guys, I'm begging you! Give me another chance! I'm sorry!"
"You had your chance and you blew it." snaps the blonde male. "You ran off to some other world and now you won't come back and tell us to our faces that you hate us!"
"I didn't choose too!" I scream. "I didn't wanna get stuck here! I wanted to think, not fall into some other world! Please! Come back!"
They all fade away and new faces appear. "Lisa, why did you leave us?"
I choke another sob. "No… not you too…"
The sky blue hedgehog's green eyes cloud with tears as she clings to the the arm of a black and red hedgehog with hardened crimson eyes. "We-we thought you were coming back…"
"Sky, no, not you too."
Hard brown eyes covered in mist refuse my gaze. "W-we… we trusted you…"
"Ashley, please, just-"
"We've given you more than enough chances!" The calico shouts, fur puffing up. "You always do this, and then you come back with more and more people, until you go and forget us!"
"We'll forget you before we let you forget us." The tall tan woman says venomously, keeping her back to me, showing only her long flat black hair, while hiding a younger version of herself.
I sob and weakly fall to my knees. "P-please…. don't leave me… I-I'll do better! I'll do anything! Just don't leave me!"
I clutch my stomach and fall onto my side. "Please don't leave me." I whimper as the figures vanish.
"I-I'm...I'm sorry!" I scream, curling into myself as much as I can to cry.
The sound of steps echo through the ground into my ear. I curl in closer. "I swear, you have more problems than any human should, powers or no." A sigh sounds and the touch of skin on my shoulder somehow relaxes me, if only a bit.
I feel myself slowly calm down, absorbing the fact that Lillian is actually a comforting presence that I desperately need right now.
I sniffle and look up at her from behind my arms. "L-lil?" I immediately wince, expecting her to yell.
Instead she sighs and sits. "The fuck are you doing here, you stupid brat?" I rub the back of my hand across my face before sitting up. "I-I was… recovering…" She chuckles and drapes one arm over her knee. "I didn't beat you up that bad." she says, though she glances at me with a hint of nervousness. I smile and giggle, bumping my shoulder to hers. "I was out all night because of you." I say as she rolls her eyes and pushes me away. "Oh shut up, you fucking weeb."
For a moment, we sit in quiet. I can't help but wonder if she's missed me since we were separated and maybe that's why she's been around so much recently.
I really hope that's what it is and not her plotting to kill me in my sleep… again…
"So... What've you been up to since we, uhm..."
"Since we split?" She asks sarcastically. I nod, smiling awkwardly. She heaves a sigh and adjusts herself so her legs are propping up her arms. I never realized how she sits so much like a guy... My brother, to be specific...
"Whelp! To be honest, I've done some shit you'll hate me for so I'll spare you of that part." She chuckles, rubbing the back of her neck. I frown at her but decide against pushing the topic of her more questionable activities... I hope she hasn't finally killed someone... I know she always talked about doing it, but she hasn't yet... As far as I know at least.
"I met this chick, some kinda human-wolf chimera thing. She moved in with me in my little bunker thing." I blink at her with a surprised look. "Wow Lil. I didn't know you swung that way." She gasps out loud, punching me in the arm, rather harshly too. "Ow!" I yelp. "Teh fuck Lillian!" She glares at me, sticking out her bottom lip. "I do not 'swing that way' or any other way!"
"But aren't you and SO* going out.. Or… whatever the hell you call that thing you two have.."
"We have a mutually beneficial partnership in which we assist each other in terrifying, maiming, and driving people insane. He has some weird "Justice"-y thing he has to abide by, but me, well…" She chuckles and rubs her chin, her eyes flashing a dark red that sends a chill up my spine.
"You know how I am."
"But X** keeps saying she's seen you two making out." I tilt my head as I tell her this. "What?!" She shouts, eyes going wide in surprise. "X**?! She doesn't even speak English! Or any understandable language, for that matter!"
"-sa?"
I jump slightly and glance around in surprise. "The fuck?!" Lillian furrows her brow at me. "Are you alright Lisa?" I blink and frown, rubbing my head. "I could've sworn I just heard.."
"Li-"
"There it is again!" I shout, jumping to my feet. Lilian frowns and shrugs. "Probably your new boyfriend tryin' to wake you up." she snickers as my face starts to heat up. "Oh shut up!" I snap. Lillian stands and stretches her arms over her head. "Whelp, that means I oughta get going too. I can hear my wake up call anyways." Her hand presses against the top of my head before ruffling my already fluffy head. I pout and push her hand aside when I realize how her expression has changed.
Gone is the playful grin and calculating eyes. In their place is a serious frown and a worried look. "Lisa, be careful around that asshat. He tries anything to hurt you again, and so help me I'll rip his tiny head off." I blink up at her, my confusion most definitely written on my face. 'Is she… is she seriously WORRIED? About… me?' I nod, not breaking eye contact. "O-okay…."
A rare soft smile tugs at her cheeks. "Good. Now get out of her before I go crazy bipolar bitch on you."
-end dream-
I rub my eyes, yawning. "Wazzit?" I kick the blanket off, tossing it off my head. "Uuuggghhh." I groan, sitting up. "Lisa!"
"Whhhaaaaatttt?" I call, realizing that no one was ACTUALLY in my room, but they were calling for me from the main room. I then hear various words, along the lines of "Oh, she's awake!" and "About fucking time!"
"Come in here and eat something!" So it's Winry who's been yelling at me. I guess that's better than Ed bursting in here and yelling.
"Fiiinnneeee." I toss the blankets to the edge of the bed before getting up and lazily pulling my hair back into a loose ponytail. I glance down at my clothes. "I should probably change."
I turn and dig through the bag I've been lugging around the past few weeks and dig up a loose purple tank top and a pair of jean capris.
Once I've changed clothes, I make my way to the main room, deciding I should take a shower later.
In the main room, Ed's lounging on the couch and Winry's cleaning up Al. I yawn and hobble past them and into the kitchen to scavenge for food.
As I look through cabinets and such, Winry voices her opinion on how she wishes the guys would tell her more about their travels and the danger they're in, to the point the whole room feels incredibly somber. My stomach twists a bit at the thought that I tell her more about what the guys do than they do… that's… incredibly sad, to be honest.
A knocking on the door breaks through the silence and Ed mopily gets to his feet to answer it. I stuff some bread into my mouth
*WHAM*
We all jump as Ed disappears from the doorway. "WHAT THE HELL?!" Ed's voice sounds from down the hall before Armstrong's voice covers his, saying something about going to Resembool. 'HEY WAIT A SECOND!' Armstrong's large sparkly head peeks in the door. "Ms. Green, I think it would be for the best if you were to accompany us. Alphonse, I think it would be best if you were to stay behind, you'd attract too much attention." I grumble and trudge over. "Fine, I'll come, but I demand we get food first." I frown and rub my belly. "My stomach is tryin' to eat itself.." I mumble sadly.
