So in my challenge to myself to try and update older stories, I managed to get a chapter for this done! So yay for that.
I still am doing my best to work on my other stories too, I just wanted to try to get some of the older ones updated.
Ch. 3
The following day Demyx walked out of his room and headed down the hall to where Shui was staying. He excitedly knocked on the door and waited for her to answer.
A moment later the door opened and Shui stepped out. "Good morning Demyx, though it's strange in this world. There's no sun. It's a little weird to wake up to something like that."
"Yeah it is a bit strange, but that's what it is," Demyx replied.
"So what are we going to do today? Will you get to show me around this place?" Shui asked.
"I hope so… but I probably have to check in with Saix," Demyx said as he sighed. "I really hope I don't have to do anymore work today."
"Well let's go see together then," Shui said as she wrapped her arm around Demyx's "You can show me around the castle that way."
Demyx couldn't help but smile. Seeing Shui brought forth the memory of from his past. The memory of her. He knew that he only met her once before, but now that he thought about it, it truly was a significant moment of his life. He finally had learned the reason why he had power over water, and that excited him. He wanted to have more time to talk to Shui about their water abilities. He had so many questions he wanted to ask. He only hoped he actually would get the time to.
The two walked down the hallway as Demyx lead them towards the Grey Room. Along the way Demyx told Shui as much as he could about The Castle that Never Was, pointing out the different areas in the castle. Demyx decided that he would take the long way around to the Grey Room, so he could so Shui as much as he could. He figured Saix would probably yell at him for being late, but he didn't care. He wanted to spend as much time as he could with Shui.
Shui listened carefully and nodded along with what Demyx was saying. Eventually she asked, "So, why do you live here now?"
"Um…" Demyx started as he tried to think of something to say.
He still didn't want to explain the whole Nobody situation to her. He knew he couldn't feel any emotions, due to losing his heart and all that. He could only remember and act on memories of emotions, but he could never actually feel any of them. And he knew if he told this to Shui it would probably make her worry, and that was the last thing he wanted to do to her after reuniting with her after all these time.
Finally he came up with something to say. "Well I wanted to go and see new places and… um… I wandered around for a while. Then I was found by the Organization and I joined their group."
"Wow, that sounds really exciting. Far more exciting than anything I did all these years," Shui said with a sigh. "So how many other worlds have you been to?"
"Only a few, I never really keep track before," Demyx said as he scratched the back of his neck.
The two then entered into the Grey Room. Luxord, Xigbar, and Xaldin were sitting on one of the couches. Saix was standing opposite of the entrance of the room as he always did. As soon as he saw Demyx come in his eyes narrowed.
"Demyx. Get over here."
Demyx tensed up before letting go of Shui's arm and walking over to Saix. Shui stayed closely behind Demyx as Saix began to speak again.
"You failed again to fill out a proper mission report nor did you actually finish recon on the world you were assigned." Saix held up a mission report paper with some writing on it. It was far from complete looking.
"But I wrote down what happened. I went there, ran into Shui, and had to fight some Heartless. Isn't that good enough?" Demyx said, trying to weasel his way out of the subject.
"No, it is not," Saix said as he raised his voice. "For your mission today I want you to go back to this world and finish your recon mission properly."
"But…I wanted to show Shui-"
"Demyx!" Saix growled angrily. "You are to do as I say. You have missions to do. You cannot spend your time just goofing around with some nymph you know from your past."
Shui took a step forward, a stern look on her face, "Don't yell at Demyx like that! He tried his best didn't he? Doesn't that count for something?"
Saix glared coldly at Shui, causing her to shrink back behind Demyx. "No that doesn't. His mission report here is inadequate. Mission reports are meant to be detailed so they can be used later on as helpful information. He needs to go back and redo it."
Shui stepped forward about to speak again when Demyx placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay Shui. He is the boss of me… I gotta do what he says."
"Well then I want to come with you," Shui said as she looked at Demyx and then over at Saix. "If you are so concerned with how he does his missions or whatever, I will go with him and help him."
"Yeah!" Demyx agreed. "If Shui comes with me, I won't get as bored and distracted. That way I can try harder and I will do a better job on my missions." Demyx knew that last part was just a lie. He still did not like putting a lot of effort into his missions…He doubted he ever would put in that much effort, though maybe it wouldn't be so bad if Shui did join him.
Saix stared at Shui for a long moment before he spoke again, "I suppose that can work. If Demyx truly will be more efficient, than you may accompany him."
Demyx sighed happily with relief as he was handed the same paper he was handed yesterday. The paper with the information on his mission and the world he was to visit.
"But… if you truly are going to go with Demyx...Wait one moment." Saix disappeared into a portal and a minute later he appeared now with a cloak in hand. The same cloak that the rest of the Organization members wore. "You shall have to wear this when traveling along with him."
Shui scrunched up her nose and looked away, "I don't want to wear that. I'm not going to join your group or anything."
"You do not need to join our group. But wearing this will ensure you safety as you travel with Demyx," Saix replied.
"What?" Shui asked as she looked back at Saix.
"Traveling through corridors of darkness without proper protection from the darkness that is in there, is rather dangerous. So if going with Demyx is what you want to do, then you will take this cloak."
"Fine," Shui huffed as she snatched the cloak out of his hands. "But only the cloak and gloves. I don't like shoes."
"The cloak is the important part so something like that can be skipped," Saix replied as Shui slid on the cloak and placed on the gloves. "Now Demyx get on with your mission."
"Okay." Demyx said as he opened a dark corridor. "Let's go Shui."
Shui nodded as she grabbed onto Demyx's hand. "Lead the way."
The two smiled at each other before they entered the corridor. Once it closed behind them the remaining members stared in confusion. They looked from where the portal once was then over to Saix.
"Well that was something," Xigbar chuckled.
"Just what connect does she have to Demyx?" Xaldin asked.
"It does not mater," Saix stated. "As long as she does not get in the way of the Organization and our goals, it should not matter if she is here."
"It seems an interesting card has been played for Demyx here, if this girl can truly help Demyx improve his work effort that is," Luxord said as he looked through a few of his cards.
"If that is true, then that will be something good to come of this," Saix said.
And that wraps up that chapter. I hope you enjoyed this older story of mine, I do plan to finish it. But my mind is like a frog, I wanna jump all over the place to different stories. But thanks for reading!
