IRREVOCABLE
(adj.) not able to be revoked, changed, or undone; unalterable
Taking a deep breath, Elizabeth settles herself in what she has to do, instructing her guys to wait outside for her. When she married Jason the first time, it was as a favor to him, helping a friend out of a bind that he seemed to be in. With the circumstances of their marriage changing, renewing their vows out of love, Elizabeth has a responsibility to take on with her new standing as Jason's wife. No more hiding behind him. No more letting him defend her. She will make it unmistakable. Undeniable. She is Jason's wife.
"Elizabeth," Sonny greets her when she walks into his penthouse, a soft smile upon his lips at the sight of her. "I didn't expect you to come by."
"I wanted to update you on Jason's condition in person," Elizabeth explains. "I don't have much time. He doesn't like it when I'm gone for too long."
"Okay," Sonny replies with a nod. "Can I get you something to drink?"
"Water," Elizabeth replies, accepting the glass and the offer of having a seat on the couch. "I know it's been tough not being able to go into Jason's room..."
"It's what he wanted," Sonny says simply. "Given all that's happened, I get why he did it."
"Jason knew you would," Elizabeth replies. "He's being released tomorrow. If the doctors had any say in it, he wouldn't be released for another week or so, but you know him."
"Hospitals and Jason don't go well together."
"Not at all," Elizabeth laughs softly. "It took a lot of convincing to keep him in the hospital as long as I have."
"Do you guys need anything?"
"Thank you, but no," Elizabeth shakes her head. "We're okay."
Just then the door opens and in walks the one person that despises her most in this world. The look on Carly's face at the sight of her was beyond priceless. Clearly she hadn't expected Elizabeth to show up, having been absolutely certain that Elizabeth would stay hidden from her while she was in town. Carly instinctively hands Michael off to Leticia, instructing her to take him upstairs, doing her best to remain calm until her son is out of the room. Sonny tries to insert himself between the two, but Elizabeth stops him before he can. This is between her and Carly.
"You have a lot of nerve showing up here," Carly snaps at her as Sonny makes his exit. "Don't think for even a second that I'm just gonna let you get away with what you did!"
"What did I do exactly, Carly?" Elizabeth counters. "Marry the man I love that loves me? The horror."
"Jason is our family! Me, Michael, and Sonny! We're his family!" Carly states angrily. "You have no right weaseling your way into our lives! One way or another I will get Jason to see that."
"Jason is my husband and I am his wife," Elizabeth counters simply, keeping her voice calm and steady, refusing to let her words get to her. "Nothing you say or do will change that."
"Wanna bet?"
"I didn't come here to argue with you, Carly," Elizabeth states. "I came here to tell you and Sonny that Jason's recovering and he'll be released tomorrow. That's it."
"I'm not done with you," Carly grabs her arm, pulling her back into place and preventing her from leaving. "You are not Jason's future and I will be damned if I let you brainwash him into believing otherwise."
"Take your hands off me," Elizabeth states, a deadly look in her eyes. "Now."
"Well, look at that, the little angel grew some fangs," Carly said, releasing her hold on Elizabeth. "Mark my words, your marriage will not survive what I've got planned."
"Come at me with all you've got, Carly," Elizabeth snaps, staring her dead in the eyes as she says, "No amount of your planning will get Jason to fall in love with you. Jason is MY family. Mine. And I will do whatever it takes to protect my family from anyone that threatens it. And that includes you."
In that moment, something must have snapped in Carly because she went after Elizabeth in a fit of rage, slamming her up against the door as her fists slam into Elizabeth. Before she could do any lasting damage, Elizabeth's survival instincts kick in, matching each of Carly's punch with one of her own. Hearing the altercation from the other room, Sonny rushes into the living room to a sight that he hadn't been expecting. Together with Ritchie, who came running in from the hall, they manage to pull the two women apart and to opposite sides of the room.
"This is far from over!" Carly shouts at Elizabeth. "You hear me?! This isn't over!"
"Carly enough!" Sonny shouts, holding her up against the wall when she tries to go after Elizabeth again. "ENOUGH!"
"Anytime, Carly," Elizabeth states as she accepts the handkerchief from Ritchie to hold to her bleeding lip. "Jason is my family. Remember that."
"Ritchie get her upstairs," Sonny orders the guard, releasing his hold on Carly once the guard takes hold of her and carries her out of the room kicking and screaming. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Elizabeth assures. "This is nothing. Trust me."
"Still," he says with a sigh. "I should have been in here to stop it."
"This fight is between me and Carly," Elizabeth says plainly. "You're not responsible for what happens between us."
"Fair enough," Sonny accepts. "You need a ride back to the hospital?"
"John and Fran are outside waiting for me," Elizabeth declines the offer. "I appreciate the offer though."
"It's the least I can do."
"Before I forget, Jason wants to see you before he's released," Elizabeth says as she gets ready to leave. "You can bring her if you want. I'm gonna be busy with his discharge papers, so, he's all yours until he's discharged."
"We'll come by tomorrow morning then."
"I'll let him know," Elizabeth replies as she pulls open the door. "Take care, Sonny."
Walking out of the building, one look at her and the guys were instantly regretting letting her go in by herself. Allowing them to fuss over her, she sits patiently as they put a bandage on the small cuts on her face. Clearly this was going to take some explaining to Jason, but she doesn't regret it. Carly sees her as a pushover, someone that can be easily frightened, and she refuses to be seen as such. If Carly wants a fight, she will give her one. She'll be damned if she lets someone like Carly scare her from her life with Jason.
"Liz..."
"I know," Elizabeth says as she climbs back into bed with him, knowing exactly what he was going to say. "This is between me and Carly. I can handle it, okay?"
"Okay," Jason accepts after a long moment. "What did Sonny say?"
"They'll be by in the morning," Elizabeth replies simply. "For now, you should rest if you still want to be discharged tomorrow."
"You worry too much," he says as he kisses her softly.
"I worry enough," she counters, melting into his touch. "I almost lost you, Jason."
"But you didn't," he reminds her. "I'm right here."
"Humor me," she whispers, nestling into his side. "You can go back to being superhuman once you're healed. Okay?"
"Okay," he whispers, holding her close as he closes his eyes. "I'll rest."
"Thank you," she replies as her eyes close. "I love you, Jason Morgan."
"I love you, Elizabeth Morgan."
