But please don't jump ship on me yet!I still wanna hear ideas on fights and such from you amazing people. Anyway, hope you like it, now, on with the story!)
One bite of the mysterious fruit was all it took. Lucy instantly dropped the remainder of it as she coughed several time before taking in deep breaths.
"...Disgusting." Lucy deadpanned, wiping her mouth clean.
Her unpleasant experience was quickly forgotten as Lucy heard the roar of the still present wyvern. Luffy and the other managed to pull it down onto solid ground, but it's massive wings and tail were obviously making things difficult.
"Crud! No time to whine, I have to move!" Lucy mutters to herself, standing back up.
Taking off in the direction of her friends, Lucy in the meantimes begins to reach for one of her many keys. But her attempt is cut short as she truly feels the change from the fruit. Lucy skids to a stop before crippling over onto her knees, grabbing her wrist in a quick flurry while her breath becomes quick and ragged.
"Wh-what is...!? M-my hand, it-it burns!" Lucy's thoughts race, her left wrist in a death grip as her entire hand felt as if fire ran through her veins, just waiting to burst out.
In mere moments, it did just that. From just one small cut in the palm of her hand, blood seemed to flow out and actually levitate up above Lucy's head before morphing into a perfect orb before moving in the direction of wyvern.
"What the-?!" Lucy gasps, the pain vanishing instantly as she gets back onto her feet.
With incredible speed, the orb now resembling a flying spike, it head towards it's inevitable target; the side of the wyvern's head. To everyone's shock and amazement, that single shot of blood hit the beast with such an impact, it screeched in pain as it stumbled and swayed. Obviously not breaking through the scales of giant lizard, Lucy's attack still clearly delt enough damage to make the wyvern retreat, taking off in mere seconds.
The monster now out of sight, Luffy and his friends were all able to make their way towards Lucy, who still stands dumbstruck of the events that just happened, especially how her own blood was a major factor . Robin and Chopper reached Lucy before anyone else.
"Lucy, that was amazing! You really saved us back there!" Chopper exclaims, crying hysterically, as he hugs Lucy's leg.
"Well, I don't..." Lucy mumbled, unable to make any sense of what happened.
"Was that another part of you're magic?" asked Robin.
"No! I-I've never even done that before!" answered Lucy.
"Whatever it was, it was so cool!" Luffy said with an excited gleam in his eyes.
That gave Lucy a much needed sense of joy and relief as she sheepishly laughed off the compliment. It was just then the band of pirates see a semi-large group of people coming their way. Only getting so close to the crew, an old man that was still fit in his own way but using cane spoke first.
"Miss, those powers you just used, have you had them for awhile?" the village elder asked.
"No. Like I said, I've never even known anything like that could happen before now." Lucy said.
"Ah! Then, have you eaten an oddly shaped fruit that has a certain unique color?" the elder asked.
Lucy quickly knew what the old man spoke of, and her face turned pale. Nervously smiling with a twitch, Lucy ungraciously scatters to her former location and quickly picked up the rest of the small fruit she had found. Almost all of the group's jaws hit the floor after seeing that Lucy actually had the fruit that the old man seemed to speak of.
"At least it all worked out, right?" Lucy points out, keeping her nervous smile.
"Then you have been chosen. That, my dear, is the supposedly hidden devil fruit of this island. The Blood-Blood fruit." the old man said. Lucy's eyes widened and her mouth hung open now.
"D-d-devil fruit!?" stuttered Lucy, the fruit falling out of her hands down to her feet.
"Yes. It's abilities grant the wielder the ability to manipulate their own blood at will." explained the old man. Lucy didn't even know what to say about that.
"Hahaha! Alright! Now we have another devil fruit apart of the crew!" Luffy laughed as he put his arm over her shoulders.
"Well...I guess this could be handy, right?" Lucy mutters, trying to see like Luffy does.
"Hehe. Well, this has been a fun turn of events." Robin chuckled.
"Can't swim for the rest of her life, but I suppose power is power." Usopp says with a chuckle and a thumbs up.
"Well, since you people are here, you are all welcome to stay in our village for as long as you want seeing how you drove out that vicious creature." the elder offered.
"Why thank you! We'll gladly take you up on that offer." Nami said.
The majority of the crew entered the village and took their time doing what they wanted, getting stuff to eat, gathering supplies for the ship, and getting new gear. But for Lucy, she chose to just wander around by herself, her thoughts going all over the place, soon causing her to find herself in a town square with plenty of street lamps.
"So, blood based powers huh? But to what degree though..." Lucy's mind wanders as she thinks over her powers.
Having moments of hesitation, Lucy finally pulls out the blade she had acquired before meeting the Strawhat pirates. Already sure of where to cut, Lucy does just that, creating a single gash in the palm of her right hand. Even with the quick sting of pain, Lucy continued her test. With her blood now flowing, makes one hand hover over the other, concentrating on the air between them. Now, within seconds, the blood flows faster and in greater volume before seamlessly creating a new ball of blood.
"Hehe, that's actually pretty good." Lucy figured this was a good test, so being immediately satisfied with the size, shape, and amount, the blood still around and over her gash hardened in seconds to seal the wound. Again, Lucy was left amazed.
"Whoa. I guess controlling blood has benefits! Man, everyone back home will be-" Lucy started gushing over her new power, just coming to a complete stop. Her giddy smile faded to a blank expression, her own mind going over how she thought of her home. Letting the ball fall to ground, Lucy looks back at her guild mark, now not feeling either sadness or anger. Now, it's clear to Lucy that the word home and associating it with Fairy Tail...now it just doesn't feel right.
"Hey Lucy!" Luffy's voice rang from behind her.
Her blank expression just vanishing, Lucy looks over her shoulder to see Luffy and Nami standing behind her. Luffy was waving at her with his usual goofy grin as Nami stood by him. Lucy smiled warmly at them before turning to jog over their way.
"Glad we found you. We're getting ready to set sail!" Luffy excitedly exclaimed. To Lucy, his excitement was almost contagious, being that she got a new grin of her own.
"I can't wait then!" Lucy said with her own level of excitement.
"And Robin and I did plenty of shopping, so you can take your pick of something. From Robin's stuff of course." Nami said, ending with an oddly sweet smirk. That gave Lucy a sense of friendship she hadn't felt since Mira was so nice to her back at the guild.
"...Well, I guess that's that. I suppose I have a new home now." Lucy thought.
The next morning, Lucy was the last to leave the lower decks. In a tank-top and pair of jeans, both borrowed from Nami and Robin, Lucy somehow has a new single black sharp knuckled-glove that has a white leather wristband with all of the zodiac symbols on it.
"Hey, where'd the glove come from, Lucy? I don't remember Robin or I buying it." Nami asked, of course noticing before any of the boys and before Robin since she once again had a book.
"Oh, well, I asked one of my spirits if they could find a special thing for. I mean, with these devil fruit powers, it may be best to do something different." Lucy answered, doing her best to explain her story and her reasoning, even if she is hiding part of the reason.
"I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on her!" Sanji gushed, his usual hearts in his eyes
"Of course you'd think that." Zoro groaned, coming down from the upper deck.
"What was that Moss Head!?" shouted Sanji. Before Sanji and Zorro could get into one of their usual fights or are able to do anything else, the next thing everyone knew, at least three small needle sized spikes got lodged into Zorro's back.
"Gah! What the hell!?" Zorro cried, scrambling to try and shake the three needles off of him.
Nearly all of the crew cracked up laughing at Zorro's antics before he somehow tripped in his comical panic. After obviously calming down faster than anyone else, Robin was quick to see Lucy standing by herself while whistling an innocent tune, letting Robin easily be able to put two and two together when it came to what just happened.
"Lucy. That was you wasn't it?" Robin quietly after approaching said person. Lucy jumped after hearing that question, but she soon began snickering again.
"Hehe, guess I'm caught. But you know, I think I'll start loving these new powers." Lucy said, ending her small realization with a grin that all of the crew can recognize as someone who is genuinely happy and free.
