Chapter 6
Dr. Wright POV
As Annabeth told their dreadful tale, I was captivated in my seat. No wonder the poor teens had such horrific symptoms. Not many young people have been tortured in such degree. Suddenly, the scars which riddled their bodies made sense. The fear in their eyes and their untrusting stances also confirmed their story. As the girl finished, tears threatened to spill down her cheeks.
"Thank you for-" I started, when without warning, Percy fell out of his seat and thumped face down on the carpet. Alarmed, Annabeth and I rushed to his side. He was pale and clammy, spasms ripped up and down his body as he trembled violently.
"Percy!" Annabeth gasped frantically as she shook his shaking shoulders. "C'mon Perce, you're okay. We got out. Please Percy, snap out of it."
I rushed to my desk and reached for the phone. Dialing the front desk, I waited until Rebecca answered the phone. "Could you send a nurse to my office? We got a seizure in here."
I rushed to my desk cabinet, searching for a cushion to put under Percy's head to prevent a concussion while he was thrashing around. Suddenly, a frantic Annabeth ran to the sink and poured herself a cup of water. She rushed back to Percy, and held out a shaking hand to trickle the water in his mouth.
"Wait!" I called out quickly, "That's not safe! He could choke and drown! Please calm down and wait for us to help him."
She whipped her head around, and looked at me straight in my eyes. I took a step back, startled. Her once fearful expression was now tight, worried, and above all else, her eyes were stormy and ferocious. "I know what I'm doing Doctor. Stay out of my way and let me help him." And she poured the rest of the water in his mouth.
I knelt by his side quickly, ready to flip him over on his stomach if his spasms made him choke on the liquid. To my utter surprise, he coughed, and his body stilled. He took deep breaths, and his eyes fluttered open. He squeezed Annabeth's hand even more tightly, and sighed in relief when she bent down to hug him. Percy leaned his head on her shoulder and trembled slightly.
Annabeth turned back towards me. Her fierce expression had vanished and was replaced with a relieved, almost tired look. "Can we go now?"
I nodded. "Sure Annabeth. You both can go. Tomorrow I would like to have an individual session with each of you if that's alright. I'll have a nurse have you help Percy to his room." My hand went for the phone to page a nurse on duty.
"It's fine, we'll make it on our own, thanks. We don't need any help." And with that, the girl wrapped Percy's arm around her shoulder, somehow hauled the lanky teen to his feet, and together they left the room.
My hand dropped back to my lap, then reached up and ran through my hair. These kids were in bad shape. Just thinking about the ordeal made the teen pass out. I also had a feeling that when Annabeth said they didn't need help, she meant it in more ways than one. I realized my job was now to make them realize that there is hope, and I can help them through it. Slowly and steadily if need be.
I ran though the scene in my head. One moment Percy was fine, the next he was on the floor. I have seen it before, but usually there is some kind of warning, like dizziness or twitching. And then I thought about Annabeth's reaction. After her initial shock, it seemed like she knew exactly what to do. How many times has this happened before? I must say I'm not too sure about her method though. Usually we try to keep things out of the victim's mouth. Nearly gave me a heart attack when she poured that water in his mouth. It worked though. Somehow really quickly. It seemed like the instant the liquid touched his lips, he began to snap out of it. Percy is ok though, that's all that matters.
My next step is to meet with them separately. If they let me. Maybe they are trying to seem strong to each other, and when apart, I might be able to get some answers and achieve something. I guess we'll see tomorrow.
I'll send a nurse to check up on them in a moment. And oh yeah, my clothes still have blood on them. I should probably go change before someone else freaks out…
Author's Note
I'm Back! So sorry that was so short… I didn't know what else to write about that little situation. Yes I'm sooo creative :l
Anyway, things will pick up soon I promise! Something along the lines of a little black haired emo? Hmm? Shhhhhh….. :)
