Ch. 14 Always Watching Wazwoski, Always Watching
AN: I really hate these, but I'm sorry that's short. I'll try to make them longer the next time I update.
"So Kiddo, how did last night go?" I asked him when I picked him up from school the next day, handing him a mini first aid kit to patch up a little nick that he missed.
"Nani?"
"The so-called sumo wrestling tournament that Rocky told his imouto? Which by the way I told Nee-chan that you guys were helping the Committee of Reformed Punks with 'Dera and Take-kun. Which she told Take-kun's tou-san as well. Works much better for explaining any black eyes or split lips.
"Hiiieeee?! How do you know that?!" He shrieked
"Didn't you know? Reborn and I are tight. We're homies and siblings from another mother." I said in a deadpan voice.
"HIIEEEE?!" He shrieked once more, scaring some of the people crossing by us."
"Don't believe her Dame-Tsuna." Came a squeaky voice from a tree by us. "She's making fun you."
"It's called teasing, you should try it besides using it on your hair, oww! You old cluck! What was that for?!" I cried out, hopping around on one foot. Freakin Giles! He just kicked me in the shin!
"The next battle will be the Storm battle, will you be able to come?" asked Reborn.
"Most likely not, Luss-san will be able to spot me while lip syncing Supermodel and baking a cake." I replied back with a straight face.
It was sometime later when I was talking with Nana that I realized that I really didn't know anything. I mean, I know stuff that is going to happen, I know how Nana will be so proud of Kiddo later on, in about year. But, I don't know what she was thinking during any of this, what she thought about Reborn invading in her life, how she felt about her husband being gone all the time.
"Ne, Nee-chan." I started, grabbing a dish from her to dry and put away from the dinner we had. "How do you feel about Kiddo suddenly being gone from the house all the time?"
"Ara?" She commented, scrubbing hard on a spot on a dish. "Ara. I would have to say that I'm proud that Tsu-kun is finally getting out of his shell. It's been such a long time since I've seen him smile with so much joy."
"What do you mean by that?" I could feel the air getting tense, as if Nana was holding back tears. "Surely Kiddo hasn't changed that much, I mean I really can't see Kiddo changing that much."
"Tsu-kun…Tsu-kun used to be such a bright and cheerful baby; always smiling and giggling. One time he about cried up a storm about the flower that fell out of his grasp. I never heard a baby being entertained by a flower so much before Imouto-chan. It flew right into his face as I was taking him for a walk in the park. It was a darling little flower. Looked just like a daisy and he loved it. It's why I have daisies planted in the front for him. After….after that happened, I hoped that the daisies would bring forth that smile of his"
"That?"
"That, one-day when dear Iemistsu along with his Boss, visited Tsu-kun and I when Tsu-kun was about 5. He fell; I know he did! I know he did Imouto-chan, Tsu-kun had a horrible cut on his knee, so big that I thought it would need stitches! I quickly ran to get the first aide kit and when I came back out to get to Tsu-kun, he just looked so…quiet. Like everything around him was muted! I tried to help him, I tried to help Tsu-kun with everything but it was like anything I tried wouldn't work! It's my fault that Tsu-kun is called Dame!" Nana just bursted into tears, with great big heaving sobs. Tears that I know she's been holding in for years, waiting for someone to listen to her.
"Ne ne Nee-chan. It's isn't your fault. None of this is your fault. I'm here to help out know as is Reborn. I'm sure everything will work out in the end. I'll make sure that it will okay?" I told her as I held her, rocking back and forth to bring some measurement of comfort, just as my mother did for me when things got to be too much for me.
About two hours later is when I met up with my idiot of brother in law after the Storm Battle ended. I quickly pulled him to the side of the building where there were no cameras and very little lighting. Hoping that Viper wasn't listening in, nor any of the Varia I began to tear into Kiddo's father.
"You ignoramus idiot. I can't believe you are as stupid as you are. Why did you even try to be a family man? You fail so epically that you make Elmer Fudge and Yosemite Sam look like excellent Father-of-the-Year fathers." I harshly told him, staring at him straight in the eye.
"What are you talking about?" The idiotic blond asked.
"I'm talking about you and the Ninth sealing your son when he was 5! Did you not think about the repercussions of it?"
"What are you talking about, Ann-san?" Reborn quipped, appearing on my shoulder.
"I talking to Nana-"
"What are you doing near by wife?! I told you to stay away from her!"
"You have no control over me. I don't obey you like some abused lapdog. Plus, you never said that I couldn't. The only threat that I hold to your family is Nee-chan's image of you to shatter into tiny little pieces that you won't be able to pick up and put back together again. I have the ability to make her doubt every word, every action you say. Do no test me on this."
"What were you saying about Tsuna?" Reborn prompted after a couple of minutes of watching Iemitsu trying to come up with a response.
"I'm saying that this piece of trash had Tsuna sealed when he was five. 5! Do you know how much learning goes on at that age; the ability to tell the right from wrong, actions and reactions, how to interact with other kids, sharing. Everything! We all begin around that age, cause we are watching how the world interacts with everyone, everything. How our family and friends are treated." I ranted off. "Nee-chan blames herself for everything happening to Kiddo! How Kiddo is almost failing school, how he's being bullied by the whole kami-damned town! She blames herself and hates herself for it! I just spent the past 2 hours trying to calm her down!"
"I don't get what you are getting to." Stated the blond, completely ignoring what I just said about Nana.
I could feel Reborn's body stiffen at the implications that I'm stating, "I'm saying that is why that is why Kiddo is bullied, why he is having such a hard time at school, with strangers, how to treat his friends. Why the only person he really cares about is Nee-chan. You sealed off part of his personality, it's like shutting part of his brain down! If you look at a CAT scan of his brain, there would be underdeveloped areas! Or worse, dead areas! He doesn't know anything! Reborn, ever wonder why Kiddo seems to be going with the flow for things, like how it's almost like a script?"
"I just thought he was easy-going." Came the tiny voice.
"Iie, it's because it's making Nee-chan happy, you bet your bottom dollar that if Kiddo had any say in this whatsoever without these Italian Idiots over here messing with him, he would have run away the first night you showed up. It's because he doesn't know anything different. He's just following a new script."
Iemitsu looked like he still wasn't following along and looking angrier the more I was talking.
"Still don't get it? It's like Shaken Baby Syndrome. You almost made Tsuna die!" I yelled at him.
SMACK!
I didn't see it coming, raising my hand to feel my cheek; it felt swollen and angry. Pulling away my hand I could see blood. And my blood ran cold. 'WhatifthishappenedtoNeechan? Would Nee-chan get hit?! I have to protect Nee-chan!' I thought. "You, how dare you!" I yelled back at him. "How dare you strike a person in anger! What if it was Nee-chan?! What would you have done to her, if she was spewing all of these facts to you!? Good news for you is that Nana is just a pretty little trophy wife for you huh? Something to get your stress out, I bet! I bet! I bet that Kiddo was a total accident for you and you didn't have the nerve to tell-"
WHAM!
My breath fall short, I fell to the ground, grabbing my middle to help soothe the bruise that I felt coming. "If this is what you do, I don't blame you for staying away from them. In fact, do what you always do and run away. Run away from the adult responsibilities that you can't handle. Go back to the only good thing that you're good at, wait-your little advice club is better off without you-!" I curled up even tighter when I saw the idiot's leg tens.
"Enough! Iemitsu! That is enough! You know that you shouldn't hit people in anger! Go to the nearest hotel and cool off! You have no right to hit Ann-san ever! Never in my life have I been more disappointed in knowing you!" quietly said Reborn, shooting off a bullet near him."Go cool your head, and when that is done; you, Nono and I will have a long discussion about this."
"Reborn, get together with Dino about the Rain Battle. There's going to be a Rodney Fox that needs to be saved from Jaws." I said after a while, getting up the mental courage to actually stand.
After a while, I did, using the walls to help me keep my balance. Little did I know that I was making my way back to the hotel room that I was staying at, we had an eavesdropper, and I was being watched.
