Chapter 68
Izzy of Cyberspace
It is said that the internet is an amazing place.
Right at your fingertips, all sorts of knowledge awaited one's gaze. Of course, that was not what this 'thing' was looking for at the moment.
Currently, we find ourselves in one of the deeper parts of it. Not quite dark web territory, but nearly. Most avatars would stay as far as possible from this, but some are just more curious than others. As was the case of this particular explorer.
"Hello there, viewers!" the thing announced, displaying a bug-like face towards the viewer. "Izzy here."
The bug did a twirl, zooming its camera out right after. As a result, one could now admire their host, a large humanoid beetle. It was dressed in a top that just barely reached down to its belly button with a skirt so short that I doubt it would even qualify as one.
"Today, I've made my most wonderful discovery yet!"
The camera shifts to the left, revealing a long corridor. 'Izzy' moves into position, letting out a giggle one would expect from a schoolgirl rather than someone in his position.
"We're going to find out what's at the end of this."
With that, it stepped through and found itself in an unknown place. Izzy pulled a glowstick out, giving it a slight bend. Why that's the way it works is beyond me. A lantern at times is more efficient than one of those things. They aren't even that good light source to begin with.
"Will you please shut it, random voice?" Izzy inquired, but got no response. That was the expected outcome. Not that it would stop our bug explorer from expecting otherwise. "Whoo."
The tunnel continued onward, refusing to stop for anyone or anything. At one point, it barreled through what appeared to be a trojan without a second thought.
"I'll call you…" Izzy started and began searching her chat log for at least an interesting name. "Truffles. Does that work for everyone?"
After a couple second of confirming that with the chat, she headed off once more. Along the way, she cracked even more glowsticks to use. Which still weren't very effective at all.
"You're still bringing that up?"
Yes. Find whatever you're supposedly so interested in finding now and get this over with.
"Fine then." Izzy snarled and let her attention turn back to the tunnel. "Ooh! A penny!"
Just like that, the bug girl was sprinting down the tunnel. At least one glow stick fell off, maybe two. Yet, the tunnel seemed unwilling to stop. It did offer more options though.
"This way!"
Our 'guide' took a right and stopped.
Before her, stood a large mainframe of sorts. It beeped and booped all sorts of colors, making all sorts of noises to boot.
"Hmm…"
"Who goes there?" a voice announced as something approached. "You're not supposed to be here."
"Oh. Don't mind me!" Izzy remarked, only to knock something over. "Oh my."
Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted her greatest prize yet. The thing in question was a large cat, chewing into a crate of steroid-filled candy. I was certain that the dear internet folks had gotten rid of that shit, but I was wrong.
"Mine now!"
She then grabbed hold of the cat's fur, pulling herself up in a fashion that I doubt the creature would approve of. Not that anyone really cares about it's opinion anyhow.
"Shut up." the feline meowed and began shaking about. But that just made Izzy grab on even tighter than she had previously. "Let go!"
"Make up your mind!" Izzy countered and gave the cat a kick to its side. "I will have you!"
In retrospect, she probably shouldn't have done that. Especially with the cat flinging her into the mainframe itself.
"Oh crap." the creature remarked and made it's way over. Instead of finding a charred bug, Izzy had managed to survive. Thanks to glowsticks, of course.
"Booyah!" the bug announced, only for her gaze to focus on something below her. So she hopped on her newfound companion.
"Just this once." the feline remarked, making sure that the person in question was in snugly. "Where too?"
"That portal over there!" Izzy announced and pointed to a portal. "Let's go!"
The two pass through, leaving behind the depths of cyberspace.

I will finish this series. I promise.
