Chapter 73
A Dream Wedding
Alice waited patiently at the altar.
Currently, a black wedding dress adorns her body, going quite well with the matching veil on her head. Her hair had been pulled back for this occasion, with her hands covered in a matching pair of opera gloves. A light coat of makeup hangs to her face, with most of the work being done by her chocolate brown eyes.
"Figures." the gambler thought and let out a groan right after. "Of course she's late to her own wedding."
She follows this up with a chuckle and looked about the area. The room, while not that big by church standards, was more than enough to contain all the guests invited for this grand day. White plaster walls held within, with stained glass windows to break up the general lack of detail within. A couple of angel statues had been placed behind her, possibly to serve as some form of divine protection. Then there was the cyan carpet with the white church pews on it. Why the designer of this building thought that was a good idea was beyond me.
The doors to the chapel swung open and Alice let out a gasp. Before her stood the woman of her dreams, draped in a dark blue wedding dress and veil. Her pink hair had been carefully curled, letting her face shine alongside her amber eyes. A pair of opera gloves similar to Alice's covered her arms and hands, bringing a sense of beauty that the gambler hadn't thought her partner was capable of.
The woman casually made her way down the aisle, letting the tapping of high heels against carpet be the only sound heard within. A bouquet of white lilies and violets hung in her hands, occasionally coming quite close to one of her kris hanging to her side.
"You made it." Alice whispered and got a low chuckle in return. "Are you ready for this?"
She got a nod in return, with their gazes turning towards the priest. Which in this situation, was a troll in a police garb. He cleared his throat, lifting the bible up from his side.
"Understood." the priest remarked and opened the book. "Attention! We have gathered here today to witness the bonds of holy matrimony for this young couple."
Everyone gave a nod, followed by a little applause. After, the priest's attention turned to the gambler.
"Alice Zwingli, do you take Elena Yuliana as your legal wife?"
"I do." Alice answered, her gaze snapping onto her soon-to-be wife. She tried to make herself come across as serious in this moment, but who was she kidding? Inside, there was still a tiny bit of doubt. That against all odds, the woman she had spent so much time with wouldn't say those two magic words.
"It's alright."
She took a deep breath, making sure she keeping eye contact with her beloved.
"Elena Yuliana, do you take Alice Zwingli as your legal wife?"
"I do." Elena answered and cracked a smile. Inside, her heart was beating slightly faster and the butterflies were at the ready. But in that moment, she pushed it all aside.
"I can do this."
Her gaze stayed on her wife, resisting the temptation to just jump the gun and just do the deed. But she was willing to wait a little bit longer.
"You may now kiss."
The two girls leaned forward and embraced. Compared to all the other kisses they had in the past, something felt different about this one. Maybe it was the memory in the making. Or perhaps the journey they had taken to just get to this point.
Whatever it was, it didn't matter to the two. Whatever life or perhaps the universe could throw at them, they would be ready for it.
If nothing else, they would put up a hell of a fight.
.
Alice's eyes fluttered open.
"Not again." she muttered and carefully roused a slumbering Elena. "Let's get going."
"I'm guessing were still trapped in some dimension?" her wife answered and carefully pulled herself up.
"Yeah."
The duo took a deep breath, letting their vision shift towards the sky. While similar to what they were familiar with, a large seemed to await their use.
"Ready to head off?" Alice inquired, getting a nod in return. With that, they soared into the air and towards the next potential portal...
Notes:
I'm fairly certain this is a bad representation of weddings. So I guess don't use this a guide?
Something nostalgic next time.
