The Trials Begin
The trials for the group begin now, they wake up to their trials split from one another and in weird pairings face against the odds. There is a theme for the first trial and the trial is split into 7 stories for the Champions. I do not own the song 'Poisoned with Love' I just thought it was a really good song for the story and i recommend you listen to it when it says to. It's the song Marcy's playing and the 'lullaby' thats heard first is a repeating of the build up to the actual song.
A woman stood in the darkness; she had short black hair decorated with a small and simple crown. She had markings all over her beautiful sleek skin and wore a long red dress. She started to spread her long white wings and stared into the abyss. The angel knew she had to do what she could to get rid of the darkness. She suddenly was filled with light and began to shine in the dark. The darkness did not like the way someone had opposed on his rein on life itself. The darkness attacked the angel; she fought him off creating rips in the fabric of existence. Their battle was vast and full of danger however they only had clashed with each other twenty six times. Every time they collided their power began to swell drawing mass to the location creating a whole world. On the last collision the angel fell to the world's tired and shed tears at her loss. The tears fell to the worlds and gave life itself to the many worlds. This angered the darkness more and at that time the darkness swore that he would destroy all of these new worlds till he found the angel and end her and when he was done with her no one would dare try to take away his forever night.
The Trial of Finn and Phoebe – Sacrifice and Shock
Phoebe beat her hands against the glass trying to break free; she had to hurry if she was going to save him. She beat against it again and again beginning to see cracks appearing in the glass. Just when she thought she had done it the glass reformed sealing her in the glass lantern again. She had to be careful, the more she exerted herself the bigger her flame was and the less oxygen there was. She had to hurry not knowing how long he could hold out.
"FINN! DON'T GIVE UP YET I'M COMING FOR YOU" she screamed not even knowing if the human could hear her from her glass prison. She knew it would have to be all or nothing with this. She fashioned a fire sword and made it as durable as she could. She then concentrated her fire in her feet. She waited till she began to struggle to breath and then released her pent up power. The force sent the princess of flames flying to the top of the lantern where she held her sword up to the top hoping that this time it would be enough to break free. It was either freedom or death.
Finn stared at the Lantern watching his princess struggle to escape. He had to do something. They had woken up in this strange place not knowing what was going on and soon realised that the trials had begun. Finn had originally stood up and looked up to see what he first thought was the sun but on a double take realised it was Phoebe. She was trapped in a lantern on the top of a mountain. He drew his angel sword and formed his wings but when he went to fly nothing happened. He realised there must be rules to these trials and Marcy's mum said they would be hard. He put his sword back and began to scale the mountain.
Finn had to fight a variety of monsters on his way there including an army of skeleton warriors, battle cubes, wizards and more. Nothing would stand in his way as one by one he took down his opponents, sure the human gained a few cuts and bruises but years of being a hero had made him a formidable foe for even the most skill warrior and these 'obstacles' barley made the human pass a sweat. He began to near the glass lantern when the whole mountain started to shake. He looked down and saw water rising up the mountain as the whole rock monument was swallowed by the ocean. He tried to climb faster and soon reached the top. He looked down and noticed the water had stopped rising leaving him with only the peak of the mountain as footing. He turned to free Phoebe and froze when he saw her prison floating away on the newly formed ocean.
"Why an ocean… why the sea… why…" Finn said pulling at his hair. He decided that it was time to face his fear. He made sure his hair was tied back and then dove into the ocean. He began to swim towards his princess. With each stroke Finn actually got more confident. "Why was I ever afraid of the ocean again?" He was getting close to his girlfriend when something wrapped around his leg. Phoebe watched as her boyfriend was dragged under the water she knew she had to get out and had started to try to smash the glass.
She flew with all the force that she could at the top of the lantern where she held her sword up above herself. She gave out her last breath as her sword shattered the glass sending her into the sky above. She looked down to see bubbles appearing at the top of the water. She knew this may be the dumbest idea she had ever had but she had one chance and knew she needed to take it. She grabbed the necklace that Lumen had given her the night before. It seemed the Prince had spent his week alone also planning for various situations the group might face, her necklace was in the shape of a blue sword which as she tightened her grip on it the little sword began to expand to the size of a normal sword. She may be able to survive water but she knew her flame sword wouldn't. She gripped tightly on the sword then flew high into the sky. She flew as high as she could before leaning back in the air; she started to fall back to the ocean. The large shadow under the water was what she aimed for as she sped with amazing speed towards the water.
"For you too Finn, I would defy nature."

The Trial of Lumen, Marceline, Fionna and Marshall – Pain, Risk and Guilt
Lumen woke up to a slap in the face.
"Whoa what the junk dude you never heard of a decent wake-up call" he yelled out.
"Wolf bait I'm going to need you to be quiet and get with the programme, the trials have started" Marshall's voice came from a position not far from Lumen. Lumen shot up and looked around they were alone in a circle of light with nothing else around them but dark Lumen decided to see what he could do and began to glow with light flowing around his body showing that there was a path they could walk and also more darkness to fall down into.
"Marshall, why aren't you floating?" Lumen asked noticing for the first time that the vampire was grounded.
"You tell me, I can't do it and I figured you being a bag of tricks would have a light bulb power or something. Even my night vision isn't working properly looks like we're doing this old school."
"Seems like it although it seems we're not the only two taking part in this trial." Lumen stated to the Vampire King.
"What makes you say that? If you hadn't noticed it's just us two and the dark."
"The necklaces I gave you all they are more special than you realise I had a lot of magic enchantments placed on them and one is that if the person you love is close by the necklaces get warmer so I know that Marceline is also here in the darkness." The shadow person explained brushing himself off.
"So Fionna is here too then."
"You love Fionna?"
"…Let's get going… thanks to you light bulb we have a path to follow."
The two began to walk the path that someone had laid out for them they soon reached some stairs and began to climb coming up to a rectangular platform. As soon as they were both standing they began to hear a faint sound fill the air. It sounded like a song from a music box and the two began to walk towards the sound.
The little lullaby sounding music continued to get louder till finally a light appeared, inside the light was a figure curled up. The music stopped for just a second then started again this time it was a bit of a different tune and the figure began to move. She stood up and began to dance; her movements were rigid and almost robotic. She span round and round as the lullaby tone continued to play till a new sound was added to the mix.

The two boys watched as the girls movement became less robotic and began to flow more. The singing began to continue as another light came on showing a raven and white haired girl holding a guitar and singing.

The boys stood transfixed at the sight of the girls they loved. Fionna continued to dance to the beat and Marceline continued to sing. Suddenly the lights turned on revealing the platform they stood on to be the only ground in the 'room'. Marshall looked over the edge to see the path had vanished. He then turned and got a decent look at Fionna. She was wearing what appeared to be a red and white dress and had a bow in her hair. On closer look he noticed something the sickened him, she was bleeding. Lumen began to notice something wrong with Marceline too, where she was playing guitar her fingers were bleeding and her eyes were white instead of their usual red tint. Both Lumen and Marshall were frozen where they stood having no choice but to watch the song and dance continue.

When Marceline had finished the last line the two guys regained their mobility, they ran to the girls who had fallen to the ground when the song had stopped. They tried to wake them both when all of a sudden a recording began to play. It was the song that the girls had just been performing. Once it had started again the girls stood up, robotic in their movement, instead of restarting the performance they started to walk toward the retreating boys. Both Lumen and Marshall stood backed against the corner of the platform.
"Fi" Marshall started trying to talk to the blonde human. "Fi talk to me, what's going on why you being all weird and hollow eyed. Why are you bleeding?"
"You… You did this to me… You… You hurt me" was the reply that escaped her lips. There was something wrong with her voice but before Marshy was able to reply Fionna had kicked him off the edge. Lumen quickly followed after Marcy had turned into her bat form and hit him off. Lumen reached out for Marshall and when he had grabbed him began to concentrate. "Let's hope this works". Lumen shadow morphed the two back onto the platform away from the girls.
"They must be brainwashed" Marshall managed to get out after recovering from the shock of being kicked off the platform.
"I think your right but the issue I have is what are we going to do about it?" Lumen stood up and materialised his swords just in time to block Marceline's axe. Marshall rolled out the way of Fionna's sword and kicked her away from him.
"I don't have anything, I can't even fight properly I don't have my electric axe".
"Your axe… that's it I've got it Marshall!"
"You've got what? Cause at the moment all I think you've got is one scary ass girlfriend"
"The music, the music is what's controlling them if we can stop the mus-" Lumen was cut short when Marceline had swatted him off the edge again; he reappeared behind her and knocked her over while Marshall managed to pick up her axe and defend himself from Fionna. The two tried to look around while fending themselves off from the girls. The boys were getting beaten pretty badly by the girls and neither had managed to spot the cause of the hypnotic sound. Just when Marshall thought Fionna was about to end his life something happened which by all accounts would seem like something even Magic Man couldn't come up with. Her angel blade was blocked by two others blades. Marshall stared at the two people one was a girl made only of white light and the other a guy who seemed to be just a living shadow. They managed to push back Fionna and it gave Marshall a chance to look around. He stared at Lumen and noticed that he looked different. The white and black from his hair had disappeared and he now had dark brown hair. Marshy got up and helped Lumen push back Marcy giving them a chance to talk.
"Whoa wolfbait what happened to you and who are those people?"
"They're me, well an extension of me, you know how I materialise my swords well I can materialise them with my powers as well. It just leaves me without the shades in my hair for a bit."
"Whoa that's a pretty awesome power dude why didn't you use it before?" As if the answer his question a gash appeared on Lumen's cheek and he started bleeding. Marshall looked around to see who had done it and saw the Shadow Lumen holding off both the girls while the Light Lumen held her cheek.
"That's why, any damage they receive I also get it. If you hadn't noticed my powers have risks to them but it's time I put everything on the line for them" Lumen looked at the vampire and was suddenly grateful that Marshall was his companion. Instead of telling him to stop the vampire seemed to be impressed the human would go to such lengths to save the girls. The two kept searching for the source of the music ignoring the many winces and cries of pain Lumen gave out as the shade duo held off the girls.
"I know where the source is" Marshall stated.
The Trial of Bonnie and Phoenix – Anger and Denial
"Phoenix… Phoenix you need to wake up"
"Fi… Fionna" Phoenix mumbled back.
"Sorry Phoenix but its Bonnibel and I think we are the only two here… wherever here is" Bonnie answered back. She was a bit worried about where they were and didn't want to go too far from the sleeping fire elemental out of fear of being stranded alone. She had tried to call Morrow but nothing happened and her phone wasn't working either.
"The trials have started" She confirmed to the prince.
"What do you think we have to do for this trial Bonnie?"
"I think judging by the size of the walls around us, the width of the path we're on and the lack of wind I'd say we were deep in a maze. Whether we have to find our way out or find something I don't know but I have a feeling we should be moving soon" She said with a hint of nervousness to her voice.
"What makes you say that?"
"I don't know but I have a feeling something is coming for us, I keep hearing noises and it's been getting louder and closer. This is a trial set by the greater evil to break us down and to end us I imagine there's going to be a lot of bad things in this maze."
"Let's get going then Bonnie".
The two royals decided to pick a path. Bonnie got out a pen and paper and began to work out their route based on the angles of the sprouting paths and the location they started with.

An hour seemed to pass and they came to many dead ends they soon reached a clearing when they decided to take a break.
"Did you put Phoebe in a lantern too…?" Bubblegum froze at the question, she turned to see the Prince glaring at her and realised that her counterpart must have done to him what she did to Phoebe.
"…Yes I did… I did it to protect everyone in Ooo" She replied.
"Yeah that's what Gumball said too, to protect everyone. Do you know what it's like to live your whole life knowing everyone would be happier if you were never born? Do you know what it's like to blame yourself for being too weak to control your own power? DO YOU BONNIE. DO YOU?" The flame prince began to burn brighter as a lot of pent up emotions began to build up.
"YOU AND GUMBALL ARE THE SAME; YOU NEVER EVEN REALLY TRIED TO HELP US. YOU JUST TOOK US BACK AND GOT US PUT IN A PRISON. GUMBALL NEVER EVEN APOLOGISED FOR IT I BET YOU HAVEN'T EITHER." The prince was really furious now letting himself let out all of what he's been holding back for the group's sake.
"YOU SIT THERE IN YOUR CANDY KINGDOM WITH YOUR CANDY PEOPLE DECIDING THE LIVES OF EVERYONE. YOU USE FINN FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT GETTING HIM TO RUN ALL YOUR LITTLE ERRANDS AND I'M JUST SICK OF YOU AND GUMBALL NEVER FEELING ANYTHING FOR WHAT YOU DO. YOU TWO-" The Prince's rant was cut short when the pink princess ran up to him and hugged him. He could feel her tears running onto his body as they turned into vapour due to his heat. He could feel her sobbing holding onto him and didn't know what to say.
"Phoenix… I am sorry… I have spent years making mistakes and being selfish. I never did try to help Phoebe I saw her as just another problem that needed fixing and even when Finn freed her I tried to ruin their happiness. I know I am not worthy of this… but on mine and Gumball's behalf I would like to apologise and beg you for forgiveness." The candy princess took a step back; she had to hold onto her hair as it had started to melt off her head. The Prince remembered then that she had never had the Shadow Shield put on her so she had been burnt the whole time she hugged him.
"Bonnie I…" Phoenix was cut short by a pain in his chest, it was where his matrix was and he began to hear a voice in his head. "You think she's sorry? Maybe you deserved to be put in that lantern after all. She will never be sorry, she wants nothing more than see you extinguished and you're going to let her fool you like this?" the pain in his chest stopped as he thought about the words he had heard.
"Bonnie I will… think about it now let's get going." He said bluntly refusing to believe in her words, the voice was right. "How could I be so foolish?" Was all the prince could think as he and Bonnie began to walk the maze again; He could still hear Bonnie crying behind him but ignored her… probably more calculated emotions he thought. He looked into the next clearing and saw something that would be etched on his mind forever. It was a lantern and inside was a pool of blood. Hanging from the roof of the lantern however, seemingly the source of the blood was a girl whose blonde hair was now stained red.
"Fi… FIONNA!"
The Trial of Simone (Ice Queen) and Betty – Loss and Bargaining
Snow raced fast on the freezing winds as it battered the dead frozen trees. The land was covered in a layer of snow and ice as Betty woke up. She looked around and saw an unconscious Ice Queen beside her. She decided to wait a little before waking her up and decided to look around. She found out that she was in the middle of a forest and that it went on for a very long way. When she came back she found a very angry Ice Queen waiting for her.
"Oh remembered I was here then wannabe? Or thought you'd leave me here so you can take my kingdom from me." The bitter Queen spat at the Ice Princess.
"I've told you this before Ice Queen I don't want to be you, the reason I look like you is because of the Ice tiara that Simon made was based on his, which has the same properties as yours. And also my Simon and I have our own Ice Kingdom and I will say it is frankly a lot better looking than yours." The Princess of snow replied trying to hold back her annoyance at the queen.
"Better? You think you're so pretty, don't you BETTY but I remember what you said, you failed to rescue you're Simon and had to have the shadow whelp do it for you." The queen smirked knowing she had hit a sore spot for the Ice Princess.
Ice Princess glared at the queen, "So she had been listening when we were talking to Benny" Betty thought.
"You shut up you bitter old hag, You don't know a thing about me whereas I know everything about you SIMONE you think you are superior but even the power in my tiara is stronger than yours as mines not leeching my life away. Yes I couldn't save Simon but LUMEN could, he is a brave and strong young man and I consider him family so I will warn you, my patience with you Simone grows thin as you continue to detest me and my family."
"Old Hag… You dare you little copy-cat. My name is ICE QUEEN not Simone for one and you know nothing of me. You are just a failure who should have died 1000 years ago forgotten by time." Ice Queen spat back… being near Betty unnerved the Queen it was the same feeling as being near Benny. The two women gave each other the silent treatment and used their powers to build a shelter in the woods to stop the wind getting to them. Once inside Betty used her survival skills to get a fire going. Neither of them actually felt the cold and Betty in particular with her Shadow Shield was pleasantly warm but she wanted something to do while they tried to wait out the storm.

"Are you and Simon happy…?" came a voice from one side of the shelter. Betty sat up and saw the Ice Queen huddled again one of the walls. She stood up and went and sat next to the Ice Queen.
"We're extremely happy, once this is over we're going to get married, I've decided I like being his princess so we're going to be the Ice Prince and Ice Princess. We even started brainstorming baby names everything's going great." Betty smiled remembering the names they had listened.
"Simon's meant to be this world's me… but he's happy and I'm not…" the Queen sighed confessing her troubles. "He has you, a beautiful kingdom, people who adore him… Finn and all the champions from your world like him and look up to him… I don't have anything like that. They all like you too… but no one likes me… because I'm Ice Queen and not Simone"
"You could be Simone again if you wanted…"
"I could?"
"I thought you were listening to our conversations about it?"
"I was but… I got bored so only really listened to the first part about you failing"
"Oh… well you also heard that Lumen had been the one that saved my Simon, he can do the same for you and I know that there's someone out there who wants to be your Ice King and Marshall misses the old you" It had never dawned on Betty that the reason Ice Queen had been vicious towards her is that she was jealous that she couldn't be happy. Betty stood up and began heading towards the exit of the shelter to check on the storm.
"Please don't leave me…" she heard from behind. Ice Queen had grabbed hold of the edge of her dress and stared at Betty. "I know I've lost a lot of people… I know I lost my memories and that I have lost so much… but I don't remember what they are… I look at Marshall and my heart feels like its breaking in two… if I could just remember I could stop it. Please don't leave Betty I don't want to be alone anymore." The Queen began to sob. Betty went back and sat beside her pulling her in for a hug, the Queen carried on sobbing about things she couldn't remember or understand. The two fell asleep against the wall of their Ice shelter and were awoken by a familiar voice coming from the inside of Ice Queen's pocket.
"If you are hearing this then you needed to have Simone back sooner than I was able to bring her back, there is a danger nearby that will require her power and so with this necklace you have a temporary cure for her" Lumen's voice came from a pendant attached to the necklace. He had given them all one the day before but a lot of the Aaavians had just stuffed theirs in pockets or their bags.
Ice Queen put it on and the little white snowflake pendant began to shine.
"I remember you"
Thats the first four trials, has anyone spotted the theme yet? The second bit after their name, for example 'Sacrifice and Shock' are the things they have to overcome. It's very vague but so far you should start to see what issues the Champions face. Please remember to review and ask me any questions if you don't understand :) and did you like the story at the start :) it's continuing a theme of subtle hints about the Angel and the Evil
