Chapter 82
Reaching Heaven
Chaos took a deep breath.
Today was quite possibly the biggest day of her life and the butterflies were already in her stomach. They were flapping all about, making whatever noises butterflies made along with doing their little mating dance. Then they die off, bringing forth caterpillars into the world and start the whole process over and over again.
"I can do this." the white mage thought and sat up, letting out a couple deep breaths right after. Once that was out of the way, she got out of her bed and walked over to the wardrobe. There, she quickly put on the nicest one of her many cleric dresses, following it up with the best of what little jewelry. "Nothing's going to st-"
Almost to mock her, Hera and Death came in. Drunk, no less. But before they had a chance to really do anything, a pair of familiar arms found their way to the duo.
"Hey…" Hera mumbled and the duo was flipped around, finding herself facing down someone who was less than happy with their behavior. "Oh. You were watching?"
Are you sure you want to hear the answer to that? Personally, I wouldn't. Especially knowing the things you two have done.
Both girls seemed to realize what he meant right after, choosing to leave as 'gracefully' as their legs could possibly manage in this moment. Which was far from it, I might add.
After, Chaos let her gaze turn back to the man. Compared to when she had last saw him, the author hadn't really changed. Sure, he was slightly closer to being another year older along with a bit of facial hair. But outside of that, he was still the same observing self. For this occasion though, the author had decided that he would dress up a bit nicer. Which just meant wearing pants and a striped shirt.
"Been a while." Cody whispered and carefully made his way over. "How have you been?"
'Alright.' Chaos signed as she watched the author sit down. 'How about you?'
For a few brief seconds, her creator's gaze fell to the ground. While normally, he preferred to keep to himself on this. It was an issue that he sort of had an handle on. But now, it was starting to fall apart.
"Job searching absolutely sucks." the author responded, taking a deep breath. "I just needed a break from getting constantly rejected by people."
Carefully, the white mage let her arms wrap around her creator. Warmth spread through both their bodies, filling quite comfortable. But just as quickly as it occurred, they disengaged.
"Thanks." he whispered and stood back up. "Of course, I brought gifts. And no, you can't open yours until after the ceremony."
That response seemed to get him a glance in return. While he was certain that Chaos's impulse control was a lot better than it used to be, it didn't hurt to remind her. Especially with such a big day ahead of her. While it might have been better to spoil her a tiny bit, that would just be feeding bad behavior.
'Hey…' Chaos signed back. 'Don't I get a little hint?'
But Cody shook his head. While he could tell her what he gotten them, what was the fun in that? It was a big day for her, a little surprise couldn't hurt.
"See you at the ceremony!" he called out and made his exit. And by exit, I mean teleporting away. Maybe he'll pick me up for the day. I doubt it, though.
While this was all happening, Sachiko was getting herself ready.
She had spent the previous night practicing her vows, confident that she could deliver it without a mistake. Of course, that still left the chance of something happening to throw her. And speak of the devil, something was about to try and ruin it.
"Hi slut."
Of course, the still drunk Hera and Death had decided to ignore their master's warnings and just barge on in. They knew far better and had been told to not do that, but alas. Becuase why listen to someone who beliefs don't match your own.
"Please leave." the geomancer muttered, but got laughter in return. "Leave."
Still they laughed. If anything, they were
"Maybe we should call you Slutchiko from now on?" Hera suggested and got up onto the bed, right as her 'opponent' got out of it. "Hey!"
Carefully, Sachiko picked her spear up and pointed it towards the two.
"I'm going to count to three. If you're not out of here by then, I'll kick you two out myself." Sachiko explained and took a deep breath. "One…"
Whether it was the liquor or maybe their general attitude, neither moved.
"Two,"
That still wasn't enough to make them leave.
"Three."
A large pillar of stone slammed into the duo, knocking them through a nearby window. Sachiko took a deep breath and followed it up with a sigh,
"The rest of today better not be like this." she muttered and got dressed, joining Chaos in the
Breakfast was interesting, to say the least.
On one hand, having the author of all people as a visitor at least meant that he would at least be the main focus. Of course, it did allow for some questionable characters to sneak in. Which was most definitely the case for today.
"Two eggs and bacon." a voice announced, the gazes of all six dark blades already on them. "You sign says breakfast for all that come. So I brought my fiancee and co."
"Leave, Victoria." Vanessa snarled and got a sigh from the black cat. Normally, they would have kicked her out. But, considering all that was to happen today, they didn't have a choice. "If nothing else, don't you have a maid to take care of things like this?"
Victoria laughed and let her dress shift to be slightly longer for the moment.
"Yes, but I wanted breakfast here." she countered as Kuro walked up, her belly shaking a bit with each step. "Though, I doubt you want to deal with her when she's hungry."
Kuro shot her fiancee a quick glance. While sure, that was kind of true. But at the same time, that was the sort of thing one doesn't announce to the world.
"Thanks, nya…" she muttered and watched Victoria take a deep breath.
"That was rude of me." the black cat whispered back, getting a sigh in return. "Do you forgive me?"
She got a nod and then turned her attention back to the cook.
"Make that three eggs and bacon."
Reluctantly, the gave the couple their meal. Only to find that they had brought everyone else as well. They fed them to, even if it was tempting to just leave the weird-looking undead child the scraps. Everyone except Jestery, that is.
"No."
"Why not?" Jestery responded as the dark blade's shifted their gazes to her. "Jestery will gladly reimburse you for any food that Jestery eats."
"That's not why." Kage continued, watching LadyDevimon and Bastemon come up and grab the now completed meal. "Even if you do reimburse us, you still would be eating everything."
"Are you calling Jestery fat?" the jester countered and leaned in towards the cook. "I suspect you alre-"
Before she had a chance to finish her threat, Victoria walked over and pulled her over to a table. The whole way, the jester attempted to have a tantrum about this not being fair and that she should just sue this establishment.
"Come on, honey." her mother cooed and held out a fork with some egg on it. "Here comes the airplane~"
"Mom, Jestery is too old for such sill-"
Before she had a chance to finish her sentence, the egg made it into the Jester's mouth.
"Better?"
She got a head shake, which was all the more reason to continue.
"Here comes another airplane~"
Like the first time, Jestery opened her mouth and let the food in. Which is as good as any to check if Victoria is being impersonated.
"I heard that." the black cat whispered, following it up with a snicker.
Once breakfast was finished and all the dishes had been washed, it was time to get everyone prepared. And by that, I mean getting some of the couples into one of the church side rooms so that they could be dressed up. Of course, there was only one room. But with a bit of quick adjustments, it provides the space for the two couples and the various people who they wanted as their best person and stuff. But considering that both couple decided to go with their inner circle that actually works out. Somehow.
"This is it, nya." Kuro whispered, turning to face Victoria. "Can I ask you something, Victoria?"
"Shoot." Victoria answered back.
"When you first saw me, what did you see?"
The black cat freezes up, not quite certain of how to answer her fiancee's question. She takes a deep breath, trying her hardest to not make it sound like a sigh.
"When I saw you for the first time, I saw nothing but an empty shell. Going about life Now though…" Victoria remarked, pulling the catgirl in. "I see a beautiful priestess, faithful to her services. A wonderful soon-to-be mom. Someone who possibly could take me down, should something happen."
Kuro blushed as let a smile form on her face. She wasn't
'Aww…" Chaos signed and flattened out the last of the lace on her dress. 'Though, compared to us, we're the new girls.'
That got her a look, followed by a chuckle. Currently, the white mage and her geomancer fiancee had gone for white and green wedding dresses. Nothing fancy, outside of a little lace. Victoria and Kuro though, were a far different story. In Victoria's case, she had gone for a bit of a violet ballgown. In Kuro's case, she had gone with a black one with purple ribbons.
"I guess." Sachiko answered back and did a twirl. "Though, was this how you imagined such a day?"
Chaos shook her head.
'Personally, marriage was never in my mind up until not so long ago.' Chaos answered back, letting a smile hang on her face. 'If I had known you would propose to me, I probably wouldn't gotten a ring of my own."
Sachiko's gaze shifted to the ring itself. While Chaos's proposal was a bit of a surprise, it was the nice sort. Though, that could describe everything that happened.
"It's just about time." a voice announced and Hikari poked her head in. "Is everyone ready?"
She got four nods.
"First up, Sachiko and Kuro." Hikari continued, motioning for the selected girls to follow. Which left both the black cat and white mage to their own devices.
'Not going to lie.' Chaos signed and turned to Victoria. 'If you weren't my sister, I totally would've hooked up with you.'
She got a very confused glance, which was possibly one of the few times that Victoria had actually been beaten at her own game. Even if they weren't really playing in that particular moment.
"I'm not sure what you said, but you better be glad that today's your wedding." Victoria whispered and glared at her opponent. "If it weren't, you be dead."
All that seemed to get her was the pulling out of a claymore from Chaos. In return, she pulled her butterfly swords out. But just as quickly as the weapons had come out, they had been sheathed.
"You two ready?" Hikari announced as she walked back in.
"Absolutely." Victoria announced and headed off, with Chaos giving a nod. Gracefully, they make their way down the aisle, their eyes scanning the aisles for any signs of intruders or possibly bombs even. But as their feet stepped onto the altar, relief and peace came through.
"We have gathered here today to witness the blessing upon these of Holy Matrimony." the author explained and took a deep breath, watching Bastemon and what appeared to be MageLilymon bring their couple's respective rings. Once there, they knelt down and let their respective masters take the jewelry. What was even more impressive was that Bastemon actually didn't need any reminders for once.
"Do you, Sachiko and Kuro Neko, take these women as your wives?"
"Yes." both the geomancer and the priestess, watching the author shift his attention to their beloved.
"Chaos and Victoria, do you take these woman as your wives?"
'Yes.' Chaos signed.
"Absolutely." Victoria whispered as the duo focused on the person in front fo them.
"You may now kiss."
The two woman then pulled their wives in and let their lips lock. What followed, was the sort of kiss all those romance movies seem to go out of their way and hype. You know, that big moment at the climax where everything looks like it won't work out, but somehow it does? Like that, only better.
Right as they broke away, the blinding light of a cycle change occurred. But so far, no major changes have been noticed.

Notes:
Evil TK is narrating this time.
And as tempting as it would be to use that one particular quote for the celebration of both four years of the digitalverse and AWC surpassing 7500 views. Whoo.
With that, the 'main' story of the digitalverse comes to an end. Though as you probably noticed, the number of endings has increased. Which brings me to a big announcement. I have two new fics coming.
The first of which you'll seeing in the next couple days, Digital Butterfly, is a 'what-if' story. Of course, if it's a 'what-if' fic, what's the question we need answer? Well, it has something to do with memory. Though, it's schedule will be a bit erratic.
The other fic, Cho and Me, will be coming out in early January. That will cover the 'final big hurrah' of this multiverse as I head onward to new projects.
