Rain, Mud and Blood
Wild Wood - Marshall-Lee, Hunter, Marceline, Phoebe, Bonnie and Fionna
Hunter and Marshall looked up as the girls entered the clearing. They both tried to smile and be impressed by the new clothes that the others had got from Wizard City but neither could hide the glum feelings that dwelled with the knowledge they had gained.
"Hey Marshy I found out what you wanted me to in Wizard City" She pulled him to the side and whispered to him "Is it alright for us to talk in front of him or is he... you know being affected by it." Marshall started laughing knowing that Hunter, who like his father has enhanced hearing, clearly heard her.
"Mum I'm fine, as I explained to Dad already Huntress' powers are no threat to me and I'm just baby sitting them till a later date anyway. Jade's like mad awesome and helpful as well." Hunter could see his Dad still laughing behind Fionna and he could feel Jade getting cheerful from his comments which made him feel a kind of awkward he hadn't felt before. "Guess this is just one of the drawbacks to having a girl power thing living inside your head".
"Yes I suppose it is" Jade answered back with a laugh.
"How am I suppose to trust that Hunter, with everything going on with voices, crazy wizards and the darkness how can we take it at face value and Jade?" Fionna asked confused. Marshall and Hunter began to explain everything they could from the Huntress Seed buried beside them to Jade the voice of her powers. Marshall also explained about Hunter Wizard from Aaa and his fate. All of them listened attentively with Bonnie taking notes and making plans to look into what they had learnt. Marcy trying to talk to Jade through Hunter and Phoebe realising that the whole time they were there aside from the Abadeers the others were using her as a source of light.
"So... she's like... an app?" Bonnie asked Hunter.
"See that's what I said, she gives me notifications and updates and also tells me stuff I didn't know she's like a phone app yeah" Just as he finished saying it he felt a sharp pain in his head which he took to mean that Jade didn't like being referred to as an app.
"Well then at least she's not bad and it's great that Huntress will be able to come back I really hope... it works out for you two when she does" Fionna said with a big grin. The others all pulled the same face and by now Hunter just got to the point where he planned to ignore it.
"Ermm... Fi... there's one other thing that we heard about from Simone..."
"Yeah Marshall whats that?"
"...There's a bubble surrounding Aaa that resonates with cosmic energy..."
"..Wait isn't that like the fabric tear that Finn's Dad tried to cause?"
"...Yes Fi..."
"Did he manage to make it cover Aaa too? Wow... I can't believe it..."
"Fi... the bubble Martin by made was barely enough to cover Ooo alone... Aaa's bubble was formed by someone else..." Bonnie had realised straight away and was holding her hand to her mouth in shock. Marceline had caught on to it and looked at Hunter who nodded and Phoebe had also already realised what they were trying to say couldn't think of anything to say.
"...I don't get it if it wasn't Martin who was it? The only other person who would be able to do it is my Mum but she wouldn't do that... she doesn't even care about me and she wouldn't do that... she's probably somewhere in Aaa scamming someone like she always does... yeah... that's right... that's what my Mums doing. I wonder what caused the bubble ha ha..." Fionna was shaking and struggling to get her words out, as if trying to convince herself otherwise.
"Fi..." Marshall started, "I know this has come out of no where and I'm really sorry but you had to believe me... it could only have been Martina... there is no one else" He put his arms around her hoping to calm her and to stop her from shaking when he felt her push him away roughly.
"NO! Marshall YOU'RE WRONG! It would not have been her... she would never do that. She is just a inconsiderate jerk! She will be, LIKE I SAID, just scamming someone... When this is all over we're going to go back to Aaa and find her... like we planned to... we're going to stop her, put her back into jail... and i.. i... i was going to get to know her... an... and she'd want to love me because she will see how rad I am and... and... SHE'S GONE." Fionna fell to the ground crying, above them a trickle of rain began to fall soon followed by a downpour. Phoebe stepped back towards the tree to avoid it but her flame lowered leaving her unable to see Fionna in the dark but above the sounds of the rain and the creaks of the forest all she could hear was crying.
Fionna began to smash her hands against the ground again and again till they began to get sore, she was about to smash them again when she felt two strong hands grab onto each hands. Behind the stream of tears she looked up to see the silhouette of Hunter and Marshall.
"Mum... please stop you're going to end up hurting yourself and as much as I want to say I understand how you feel and let you be angry at the world... I can't bear to see you hurt yourself like that." Hunter knelt down besides his Mum and hugged her tightly, he could still feel her jaw trembling on his shoulder. Marshall knelt down two and joined his family.
"Fi I know nothing can be said to ease this pain, nothing will bring them back the way we want it too... it seems like being from Aaa means that we have to deal with the fact that no magical light bulb boy is going to change everything and make all our lives better... then again he couldn't save Martin only point him in the direction he and Martina were already going in... but as your fiance and soon to be husband... I can be here for you... so please... let it out and if you need to hit something hit me... I'm made of more than just meat I can take it... if its for you I can take anything"
Fionna broke down once more her screams and cries more painful than before. Bonnie reached over to Marceline and held her hand. Marcy was shocked and span her head to meet Bonnie's only to see that in the dark she was crying silently. Not being able to save Martin and help Finn had hit Bonnibel hard, and it happening again must have really hurt her Marcy assumed. However, unbeknownst to Marcy, Bonnie's tears were because she was looking at what she thought was what Marcy would have to be like when everyone she had loved was dead, even though Bonnie knew she had discover immortality and that there was Lumen and many others who were near-deathless too didn't get rid of her fear of leaving Marceline alone.
The group remained silently in the clearing in the forest as the rain bounced on the trees around them hearing nothing but the pained tears of Fionna the Human.
A Few Hours Earlier - Fire Kingdom
"...Look just take the cookie it's not that hard!"
"I'm sorry but I'm really not wanting the cookie I just need to speak to-"
"-Why? What problem do you have with this cookie? Do you feel they are beneath you? That you are better than it!? IS THAT IT!?"
"DUDE I JUST DON'T WANT THE DAMN COOKIE!"
"WHY!?"
"I AM A SHADE HUMAN HYBRID! WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU THINK A COOKIE MADE USING MOLTEN LAVA AND COAL WILL DO TO ME!"
"YOU ARE AN IMMORTAL AND MY BEAUTIFUL GRANDDAUGHTER MADE THESE BEAUTIFUL COOKIES WITH MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE! AS A ROYAL REPRESENTATIVE OF YOUR KINGDOM VISITING OURS... I DEMAND YOU EAT THE COOKIE!"
Finn, Flare, Light and Lily watched on as the Flame King chased Lumen around the throne room all of them with a palm to their face; except Lily, she was laughing so much that she could barely stand anymore. The residents of the Flame Kingdom had come running when they had heard the yelling of the Flame King believing he had turned back to his old ways on Phoebe's day off only to be bemused by the King harassing the Shade Prince to eat some Lava Cookies. They stayed to watch and one had set up a recording device and was now showing this to the whole kingdom.
"Okay, Okay Flame King lets just talk about this, I like cookies as much as the next Dad but that cookie is 1000% certain to deliver a great deal of pain to me and as I only came here to talk I would rather not eat it however I have many thanks towards Flare and Lily for offering a cookie to me... okay?" Flame King was about to retort that it was clearly not okay but noticed everyone watching, he looked at the flame citizens who were recording him (who clearly thought it was time to stop recording all left) and then over to Flare, who was smiling, Light who was shaking his head in shame, Lily who was now in her Dad's arms crying with laughter and finally Finn who was just staring at him with a blank expression.
"...Okay but next time prepare yourself to eat a cookie or so help me I will make you" Flame King stormed off to go hand the cookies out to every citizen believing everyone should taste the best Lava Cookies that could ever have possibly been made. Light, Flare and Lily went with him both to make sure he didn't get into trouble and also because it amused them greatly.
"So... Finn..."
"Yes Lumen..."
"Never tell Marceline about this... or Marshall... ever."
"...sure thing dude..." Finn quickly put his phone in his pocket... he had already recorded the whole thing and sent it to Jake. "What can I do for you anyway?"
"...I have a lot to tell you..." Lumen started to tell Finn about all the things he had learnt from Ghost about the darkness, it's weaknesses and about their role to play. He explained about himself being the Shield, about Finn being the Sword and about Fionna being the Princess.
"So... the magical voices in your head told you literally EVERYTHING that we really could have done with knowing all this time but you learnt this only now because you were... worried it looked creepy... you know that's really dumb right?"
"Told you" Ghost's voice rang out however Finn was unable to hear his voice.
"Yes but skipping that part we have Hope now we have a way to beat the darkness and we can finally see the end of this."
"That's true... So I'm the sword and you're the shield? That's quite easy to understand with your powers and my skills but what does it mean to be the Princess of Light?"
"I don't know... give me a second."
"Before you ask my prince I'll explain the best I can."
"That helps a lot thanks Ghost."
"Anytime my Prince, As the Sword Finn will be the one who will strike at the darkness, he will weaken it and fight it toe to toe and try to bring it to it's knees. You, as the shield, will prepare them for battle, you have shielded Finn and the others from Flames, the cold, light and darkness. When the battle comes you will fight too but to protect and to give Finn that extra hit, that dodge he couldn't have made and you will assist the best you can and finally Fionna, the Princess of Light. She will be the one who will wield the power of the Angel and seal the darkness. With you strengthening them and Finn weakening the darkness Fionna will use her powers to seal the darkness forever in the void of space, time and eternity."
"..and how does she do that?"
"...I'm afraid my Prince... I do not know, we were just told that she would... you know... do it? There wasn't really a manual for dealing with the sealing of a cosmic entity with the same power as a god..."
"...Never mind thanks for telling me what you have and also... you seem to speak way more politely to Hope than you do me?"
"It's probably because the Princess Royal isn't an idiot who almost doomed existence for such stupid reasons... and because I have assessed this is the best way to deal with our interactions from exploring your memories."
"...Going to ignore that last bit but okay I get you, thanks again." Lumen turned to Finn who had been waiting patiently in silence wondering what was going on.
"Okay so... I'm meant to buff you guys up, you show him whats what and Fionna will seal him away but how is not really clear... that's about the gist of what he said." Lumen watched as Finn processed the information and then understood. "I would like to point out that I said it MUCH better than you... My Prince".
"Well that seems like a good plan but we really need to speak to Fionna about this as it seems without her this is all useless information so we should head out to see her."
"Yeah that was the plan, I was going to come here, get you and then head over to the tree house to see her."
"Ahh no she won't be home, she went out with Marceline, Bonnie and Phoebe to go shopping and to gather information in Wizard City about Huntress as Marshall was worried Hunter would be in danger as he now has her powers..."
"You say that... as if that's normal..."
"It's got to the point where this is our normal." The pair sigh and then both try to call their partners to find them but neither pick up.
"Hmm that's odd... Phoebe always answers..."
"So does Marcy... where were they headed?"
"Towards the forests... I was actually worried as I heard it was going to rain badly there later so if we're going I'm going to grab an umbrella for Phoebe if you don't mind."
"No go ahead and grab it I'll wait here." Lumen watched Finn leave the room and then walked to the balcony. He looked over towards the forests and could see the clouds heading in that direction.
"My Prince?"
"Yes Ghost?"
"I don't know if this is important but in that direction earlier I felt a tear to the world known as Aaa and I also have a bad feeling about whats to come..."
"You too huh... I know what you mean... like things are going to change and it may mean we can't go back..."
"Yes that feeling my Prince... I feel that whatever has occurred may end up leading to pain for you too but I'm unsure of the cause..."
"...well that's ominous as hell Ghost... but thanks I'll keep my eyes out for it I guess..."
"Thank you Ivel.."
"Ivel huh?..."
"It is your true name after all my Prince, I have your memories, even the forgotten ones so I know that more than most. Lumen Dusk may be the name you have taken but I don't want you to forget who you are underneath the dark and the light"
"...sure thing Ghost" Lumen turned as he heard Finn enter the room and he grabbed onto Lumen's arm.
"So... this shadow or light morphing thing.. it doesn't feel too weird does it?"
"Could it be that the great big bad hero of Ooo is scared?" Finn shot Lumen a look and the Prince chuckled as he and Finn disappeared into the shadows and reappeared in the forest.
Finn fell to the ground coughing. "What was that!? Why was it so cold!"
"Hmm.. never had that reaction before most people don't even find it unpleasant? Maybe because you're pure human but I'm sure you've had similar experiences in the past?"
"Yes... no... nevermind... where are we?"
Lumen looked around at the forest and could see the sun setting over in the distance.
"I tried to aim as close to Marshall and Marceline as possible since I spend most of my time with them but it's possible that since the two may not be together we may have been jolted somewhere in between so to say..."
"In other words?"
"...We're lost in the woods with no way to tell where we are but I'm sure we'll be alright after all we are the sword and shield and I can just fly up and-"
"-Nope, no flying we will get out of here the Human way Lumen, I'm too use to powered up peeps wandering off and leaving me in a wad of trouble only to appear much later as if saving me so we'll walk in that direction and hope for the best" Lumen began to wonder what Jake, Marcy and the others had put Finn through over the years and decided not to remind Finn that since he had a sword that gave him the ability to fly they could both fly up.
A few hours later
"You know Finn, it is a great idea of yours to bring that umbrella"
"I know right, Years of BMO moaning at us to be more prepared seem to have paid of greatly" The pair were walking tightly together under the umbrella clearly meant for one person.
"Though, could you not have got a bigger one?"
"This is for Phoebe not us, she doesn't need to carry anything heavier since this is enough stop being such a dork..."
"If I'm being a dork then just let me hold it... since you don't need it as your planning to get wet anyway why share?"
"...This is my umbrella i don't have to share with you..."
"Our relationship has been very childish lately Finn..."
"I know but it's fine and fun. I guess... since my Dad died everyone has been trying to be mature and be there for me... its left me feeling cooped up and having to look after Lily and Light while trying to set an example is really hard... Phoebe started moaning at me for something about being to hard on Light which is something she should moan at future Finn for not me... But you... you always treat me the same it's nice i think..."
"...I've only got memories of the last few years... everything before that is either someone else's memories or what we've learnt from a book... I'm Lumen but at the same time I'm Ivel... but it's like Lumen is just someone to make up for the lack of Ivel... I don't want to think about it much and being mature and stuff seems to make me think about it plus I'm technically only like 2-3 years old in my mind... so I'm allowed to be childish... whats your excuse?"
"hahaha so you're like my little brother then if you're only that old... Never had one of those before well a big brothers got to play with his little brother so thats my excuse..."
"Thats a pretty poor ex-" The two's talk was cut short as they began to hear a scream out in the darkness. Lumen sent out his Light familiar to light the path as the two ran in the direction they heard it in sword in hand. They could hear the sobbing getting closer and closer untill they ran into a clearing to see Fionna, Marshall and Hunter on the ground. Before either could speak they each felt a hand cover their mouth and turned to see Marcy and Phoebe. They led them away from the others while Bonnie stayed behind.
"Marcy... whats happened?" Lumen asked worried.
"Martina did the same thing that Martin did... and Fionna found out but unlike with Finn she didn't get to say goodbye or make amends and I think it hit her really hard..." Marcy explained glumly.
"No way..." Was all Finn managed to say. Lumen stood silent as if thinking of something. Finn passed Phoebe the umbrella and hugged her tightly.
"I need to talk to her..." Lumen said quietly.
"I don't think nows the time wolfbait... She's pretty messed up at the moment.."
"No it has to be now... there are things she had to know... she has to know exactly what her Mum died to protect..."
"Lumen.. Please I don't thi-"
"-Marcy sorry but I have to." Before Marceline could stop him Lumen morphed back to the group. Bonnie looked up at him confused but he didn't meet her gaze. He walked over to the Abadeer who were still holding onto Fionna who had now stopped sobbing.
"Fionna... I'm sorry but we need to talk." The three looked up at him. Fionna with her eyes puffed could barely make him out in the dark. Hunter and Marshall stood up between Fionna and him.
"Lumen dude this isn't really the time just leave it for now" Marshall said sternly. Through the darkness Lumen met his gaze.
"Yeah please whatever it is can you leave Mum alone I know it must be important if you'd ask now but please Mum doesn't need it now." Hunter added sharing a similar glare that his Dad had shown.
"I just need to talk to her... please trust me..." Hunter was about to say something but Marshall had already pushed Lumen back.
"I said no. Not now Lumen I don't care if the world is ending my Fionna doesn't need this right now so go away." Lumen met his gaze once more and sighed.
"...I'm sorry for this.." Lumen suddenly grabbed Hunter and Marshall and as if he was pushing them into the ground the pair disappeared.
"...Lumen... what did you just do?" Bonnie yelled at him. He disappeared and reappeared behind her and in a flash she was gone too.
"...what... what... why..." was all Fionna managed to get out before Lumen put his hand onto her shoulder and the pair vanished.
Finn, Phoebe, Marceline, Marshall and Hunter.
The trio ran to the spot where they had just came from, just before they had heard Marshall's voice being raised and just as they drew near they saw a flash. They broke free into the clearing from the forest only to find it empty.
"Where are they!" Marceline screamed.
"That light... it was light morphing right?"
"But theres no light here how can he light morph that many people with no light!"
"Maybe he didn't..."
"What do you mean Finn?"
"Look at the foot prints..." The three looked at the ground, thanks to the rain the mud had become quite soft and it showed the foot prints of the ground or where they disappeared. They were looking at Marshall's and Hunters when all of a sudden a claw burst from beneath them. The trio got into defensive positions ready to fight but what crawled out from the ground at first was Hunter who was dragging his Dad.
"Marshall... Hunter... What the junk happened?" Finn questioned. Marshall got up and started to cough up dirt as Hunter collapsed to the ground exhausted. Phoebe rushed to check on him. When Marshall had regained his senses and locked eyes with Finn he ran at him, grabbed him and pinned him to a tree.
"WHERE IS HE!? WHERE IS LUMEN AND WHAT HAS HE DONE WITH FIONNA!" He bellowed at Finn.
"Marshall calm down... theres no use asking as we don't know we are as clueless as you." Marcy said trying to comfort him but it didn't work.
"SHUT UP MARCY STOP DEFENDING HIM! HE KNEW DIDN'T HE... HE KNEW SHE HAD JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT HER MUM AND HE'S NOW ACTING JUNKING CRAZY!" Marshall dropped Finn and fell to his knees.
"Where is she... she needs me... like I needed her... why is he?... Why is he doing this to her.. to us now? What is he even thinking?"
"I think he's honestly trying to help her but at the same time prepare her for what's next" Finn said which resulted in everyone going silent and waiting for him to say more. He explained to them about the Sword, The Shield and the Princess of Light and all of the stuff Lumen learnt about the darkness.
"What does this have to do with helping her Finn? He took Fi away from her family, he bloody buried me and Hunter in the ground... given he buried me deeper and made it to Hunter can easily breath but it's not the point."
"...She's the Princess of Light... she is the one person who can seal away the thing that her Mum died fighting... I think knowing that will give Fionna a purpose a reason to fight and I don't know about you but I don't know when the next trial will start but it could be any day now... we know the darkness can use the holes in our hearts to use us... it's what led to Lady's death in the last time line... I imagine Lumen will give her purpose, he will use his powers to remove the pain, the grief in a way that will let her have closure... he did it for me too so I know it helps... but thats just me guessing... I can't read minds but if I was Lumen that would be what I had planned." The others stared at him still not fully believing this was Finn... his restored memories from the Pillow world, his vault being organised and his mind complete had fixed one of his only flaws.
"But... where are they..." Marshall asked defeated. Out of no where he heard his phone ring and answered it.
"Hey Marshall where are you!?"
"Hey Bon I'm still at the clearing he buried us under the ground... what about you where are you?"
"...I think I'm in Gumball's laboratory in Aaa?"
"What? Why would he send you to Aaa?"
"I don't know but he send me to the communication room and I decided to try running the software and I think I found something..."
"Wait what? really? What did you find..."
"I think it's... the mayday call... from Martina's ship... I think maybe... it's a goodbye... for Fionna..."
"...How... how could he know that was there?"
"I think maybe he didn't... he just hoped it was... Like how Finn spoke to his Dad... maybe Martina wanted to speak to Fionna but she wasn't here... so she left the goodbye..."
"Can you play it to me..."
"Sure one sec..."
"Hey short stuff... Mummy here..."
Fionna and Lumen
The two appeared in front of the treehouse, like with the forest it was raining hard but with barely any cover the wind was blowing viciously and the rain pelted harder. Fionna fell back to her knees and looked up at him.
"...Why..."
"Because you need to know..."
"I need to know what!"
"What your Mum died to protect"
"Don't talk about her."
"You need to know what she was trying to save, who you really are Fionna and the reason you matter so much."
"Stop.."
"On each world there was a relic.. something made using a power that can hurt the darkness... the people that inherited these relics became more... more dangerous to the darkness."
"Stop it..."
"On my world I was given it's light which made me the shield... your's and Finn's swords are the relics which make Finn into the Sword and you into the Princess of Light... it is our job to stop the darkness..."
"Stop it please..."
"I am here to help you, to make you stronger and able to fight... Finn is there to combat the darkness, to damage and weaken it... and You are there to seal the darkness... to seal the last enemy your mother ever had."
"SHUT UP LUMEN" Fionna screamed at him. She stood up straight and looked him in the eye.
"SHUT UP... JUST STOP TALKING. YOU DON'T KNOW HER! AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE DARKNESS RIGHT NOW I DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING!" She screamed at him.
"...Is it not that you care too much? and Fionna... she chose to die, that's not on you... you couldn't stop that" Lumen tried to say.
"SHUT UP OKAY! So she would rather die than be with me! I would have saved us.. I'm strong enough to protect us but she didn't believe that because she never got to know me! and YOU! YOU could have saved her! You saved everyone else... Flare... Phoebe... You even brought me back from the Dead! How come she wasn't enough for you to save..."
"I can't do the impossible Fionna... she was gone before I even knew it.. but she loved you Fionna she didn't abandon you she just did what she could to protect you..."
"WHAT DO YOU KNOW! ALWAYS SWANNING IN WITH YOUR POWERS... YOUR OPINION... What does it matter if you can't save... everyone..."
"Not everyone is meant to be saved Fionna..."
"SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN" Fionna screamed...
"...we can't be the ones to decide that..."
"Go back."
"What?"
"Go back in time again and change it."
"I can't do that Fionna... that's not something I can control or even do again..."
"Do it Lumen."
"Fionna..."
"Do it..."
"I can't..."
"CAN'T OR WON'T!"
"Fionna stop."
"If you won't help me save her... I'll make you help me..."
"Fionna please don't do this..."
"You took me away... you wanted to talk... well I'm done listening... now you go back and save my mother Lumen... do it now!"
"Fionna... I can't..."
"Then you leave me no choice..."
Lumen watched as Fionna drew out her sword and pointed it at him, although it was raining it seemed like all sound had stopped around them. The rain fell down as both of them remained motionless. A single lightning strike lit up the sky breaking the stand off. Fionna rushed at Lumen methodically she slid on the mud taking him out by his feet then rising and attempting to stab him but he morphed behind her. She span and slashed at him. He dodged her swings again and again before she suddenly kicked some mud in his eyes and stabbed him through the shoulder and leaving him nailed to the treehouse. Blood ran down his body and washed away into the mud.
"Save her..."
"I can't do th-" Before he could finish his sentence she had punched him in the face. She followed it up with another to the face, to the stomach and to the face again.
"Save her."
"Fi... I can't do that..." She pulled free her blade and began to drag Lumen away from the treehouse and threw him to the ground. He had already tried to morph away but something was blocking it and he felt it was because Fionna willed it and was using the sword relic.
"Last time you went back in time... was because your soul had separated from your body because of you being near death... if I get you to that point... you can go back and save her..." Lumen looked up into Fionna's blue eyes but she could see that they were vacant as if she was acting on impulse... he knew there was no getting through to her... so he prepared himself for what followed.
She forced her blade down on him again and again each time screaming as she did it. She looked down at Lumen as he clutched at the wounds covering his body his hair colored had regained its color showing that his powers were failing... she met his gaze and saw a mix of pity, sympathy, pain and fear.
"Lumen... I'm sorry but this is the only way... I didn't even get a goodbye... I never heard her say she loves me... I can't... I can't... I need her Lumen... You have to understand... You have Izzy you know what it's like to have a family you never knew come into your life... except mine didn't stay... I need her... I'm sorry but this is the only way... You're immortal and your body blocks out your pain so you'll be okay... Just go back... and save her..." She said hysterically. Tears were gushing from her eyes as she struggled to keep hold of her sword.
"F..Fionna... I.. I'm sorr..ry.. but.. I.. I.. I.. I can't.. save... her...pleas.. se.. stop..." He had hoped that his words would reach her but as she met his gaze again he saw that the last part of her that could be reasoned with was gone. He saw her raise her blade once more after aligning it with his head. He closed his eyes and waited for the pain but just heard a thud and the sound of a blade dropping. He looked up to see Marshall holding her unconscious body.
"I was really wanting to beat the life out of you when we found you... but... it looks like she beat me to it... this is why I told you to wait.. she wasn't ready to be near you... you don't get it do you... You come to this world... do all these amazing things and fix everything... but for us... you never came like this... You cured me of sunlight and did other things but with everything you have done... its no wonder people would start to think that you can do anything... I'm sorry for what she did to you... but I need to make sure she's okay... Marcy should be here soon and she'll help you... I have to get her inside... sorry." Marshall carried Fionna out of sight.
Lumen lay there as the rain hit his face staring at the sky, he heard small footsteps and felt his wounds start to heal. He guessed that BMO was in and she was probably the one who let them know they were there. Marshall must have told her to help him. He heard someone running towards him in a rush and felt them pull him close.
"What were you thinking..." He felt Marceline hold him tightly...
"Where are the others..."
"Finn took Phoebe home as it's dangerous for her to be out in this weather... but that's not important what happened..."
"She wanted me to go back and save her... but I can't... so she tried to make me... by nearly killing me like what happened after the first trial..."
"How dare she!..." Marceline went to get up but Lumen held onto her.
"Don't... it's okay.."
"SHE ALMOST KILLED YOU!"
"...Nahh I'm right as rain aha..."
"I hate you."
"No you love me... which is why you'll listen to me... don't hate her or hold this against her... we'd all do anything to save the people we love... and she did just that... I also think she needed to let out some pent up rage... and it was painful rage..."
"You're an idiot... why do you always end up like this..."
"Marshall seems to think it's because people think I can do anything... and I fail that..."
"You just need to stay alive... so we need to get you home... can you still morph us..."
"Sorry no can do.. Fionna seems to have sealed my powers away..."
"wait... she did it?"
"Yup... all according to plan..."
"... nope... I really do hate you."
