Chapter 107

Blessed

Angewomon 'stared' at the door.

Sure, this was Mary's childhood home and where the source of the reactivated digivice had led her too. Yet, there was something… different about the place. While the occupants had definitely changed, there was a different aura to it.

"No use standing here." she told herself and pressed a finger to the doorbell. A crack echoed from the button, pieces dropping to the ground. Then came the chimes. Supposedly a gift from 'angels', she never believed it. As an 'angelic' digimon, she would've given something that was pleasant to all ears. Possibly a harp, maybe with some flutes.

The door opened up, revealing a woman. Dressed in a ripped up tank top and a scandalously short skirt, she was a far cry from anyone her Mary would ever interact with. Add in those devilish red eyes and brunette hair, she could only imagine what her partner's parents would think.

"Yes?" the woman remarked, Angewomon taking a step back. Or would've, but the woman grabbed hold and pulled her inside. "Wait. You're Mary's partner."

Angewomon did a double take. While she wasn't sure who this person was, they somehow knew her. But from where exactly, she didn't quite know.

"Uh… I accidentally broke your doorbell." she explained and watched the woman head back outside. While she debated joining her, it was probably best to just wait. Eventually, the woman returned. She didn't look too mad. "Uh… Could you tell me your name?"

The woman nodded, leading the ultimate into the dining room.

"Gwen." the woman greeted, Angewomon doing a double take. Underneath her helmet, memories of days gone by lashed through.

A high school gym, after hours. Some goth bimbo bitch laughing her fucking ass off. Even went through the trouble of barricading her in. Not that a small pile of sports equipment would really hold an ultimate digimon in.

"Well Gwen," Angewomon answered, celestial arrow already set up and ready to fire. "Wife or not, I believe we have some unfinished business."

Gwen did a double take. Taking a couple steps back, she scurried under the table. If she was lucky, the arrow would get stuck in the table and not hit her. If that somehow turned out not to be the case, she would have quite the explaining for her wife when she returned.

"Hey. That was back when I was a kid." she countered, bright light piercing through the area around her hiding spot. "I've changed quite a lot."

Angewomon rolled her eyes. There was no way this girl was telling the truth. She must have pulled the wool under Mary's eyes and made damn sure that no else could break her away on the woman. That had to be it. No other explanation would fit this current situation.

"I'm home!"

Turning around, Angewomon found herself face to face with her. Even in all the years that had passed and the inches gained, she could still see Mary within all of that. Sure, the pants and plain t-shirt weren't the best choice here, it would work for today.

"Angewomon?" Mary continued and made a beeline for her partner. Angewomon's readied attack dissipated, the much larger arms meeting the smaller human body.

"Mary, why did you marry this heathen?" Angewomon accused, Mary's gaze shifting to Gwen. "She shoved me into a closet and left me away from you."

Mary took a deep breath. Focusing on her wife, she helped Gwen back up from under the table.

"People change." she answered and sat down. But not before gesturing for her partner to take off their helmet. "Holding grudges is not the way I taught you. Remember?"

Angewomon nodded and removed her helmet. Tears were already coming down.

"I'm sorry." she whispered and looked towards Gwen. "Will you forgive me?"

Gwen nodded.

"Of course."
