Dead Silent

Chapter 4

Sona smiled as the wounds on the girl healed and her fever went down, this was the power that her music held, Ionia had been full of this kind of power but here in Demacia the other worldliness of her instrument would be frowned upon, but Sona did not mind. All that mattered to her was making an impact and perfecting her craft. Even though she would like things to change, her king did nothing while most of his kingdom was on the brink of civil war.

Her music grew stronger, a melody of anger.

Quickly she suppressed it remembering what she had been taught and when the girl fluttered her eyes open, she stopped the music, green eyes met her and Sona realized just how different she looked now as if… she was not the same person she found in the forest.

But those thoughts quickly dissipated when the girl coughed and groaned "Oh man that stings" she muttered making Sona giggle, what a peculiar girl.

"Oh wow you saved me! I do not know how to thank you, I think I have a couple of gold coins on my pouch or maybe…" Sona raised a hand and shook her head; Cithria frowned "Really? I would feel awful of taking advantage of you"

Sona smiled and placed a hand on her hair and ruffling it "Hey!" came the indignant protest of Cithria bellow her making Sona smile "I'm not a kid, I'll have you know I am a demacian soldier… or well was" she let out a sad sigh "They probably think I am dead"

Sona tilted her head questioning her "We were attacked… by this creature… he… it tore through us like paper, savoring our fears" Cithria bit her lip to avoid the tears and the memories "Yelled Fiddlesticks… I thought he was just a story" her voice quivered at the end and Sona quickly placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I now I sound like a lunatic, but… oh I don't know what to believe anymore everything is to weird" Cithria looked down at her feet tears blurring her vision "I died"

A whisper, not meant to be heard but Sona picked it up nonetheless and narrowed her eyes, this poor girl looked like she had seen hell, her wounds did not look that deep, but the amount of blood on her clothes suggested that her wounds where worse than what Sona saw.

Before she could do anything about it, her door was slammed open and in walked two demacian soldiers their eyes obscured, next to them a mage hunter.

Sona raised an eyebrow at them and crossed her arms, but Cithria rose from her seat and shook her head "Look she has nothing to do with this I promise I will go…"

"Silence soldier and step aside, we are here to deal with the mage"

Cithria's eyes widened and looked at Sona who simply let out a sad sigh; behind the guards was one of her maids, looking at her with disgust. So that's what happened, betrayed in the privacy of her own home.

Sona did not want to hurt anyone, so she prepared herself to be escorted into a nearby prison, but to her surprise the small girl stood in front of her and looked at the soldiers with pleading eyes "Please don't do this, she saved me from death I would have surely died if she had not intervened"

A slap resonated in the room, the mage hunter had stepped forward "What insubordination is this?" she hissed at Cithria.

The mage hunter was a woman with short hair and intimidating eyes, a hand on her staff and the other on a peculiar dagger that glowed when pointed at Sona.

"We do not care for your sentimentalism soldier, now step aside and let us carry our orders" she said but her eyes narrowed as she looked back at her dagger. With a swiftness that Sona was no used to see, the blade stroke Cithria on the side of the cheek drawing a little bit of blood, enough for the blade to shine brighter than before and from the looks of the soldier and the mage hunter this had never happened before.

"What?!" a frightened soldier screamed, the mage hunter paled "This… has not happened before, guards quickly! Before the mages do something!"

Cithria yelped as a sword tried to separate her head from its shoulders, Sona was going to use her instrument but was caught off guard by her own maid who had sneaked up on her and began to strangle her. "To think that I had to endure serving under a filthy mage" she said as Sona desperately tried to remove her from her throat.

From Cithria's eyes, Mordekaiser looked at all of this and let out a displeased groan "the world really has regressed in my absence" he muttered and looked at the well of souls.

It looked like his return would not be in Noxus as he first ha planned, but with a walking portal being secretive was easier.

Cithria was pushed to the ground and scream as a dagger sank deep into her arm "Do not move mage or the next stab will be on your throat" managing to glare in defiance at the soldier Cithria spat on his face.

The soldier snorted and slapped her with his other hand, making Cithria groan "What is it with you people and slapping" she said and turned to look at Sona who was being put on handcuffs by the mage hunter, their gazes crossed and Cithria mouthed "I'm sorry"

Sona smiled at her sadly and shook her head, she knew this was inevitable, she had just hopped it would have happened later. The Mage Hunter prepared to give some orders but she froze in her tracks.

"When did it get so cold?" she wondered and turned to look around, darkness that had not being present before engulfed Sona's living room and the Sun itself seemed to shy away from the room. Cithria heard the chattering teeth and the labored breathing of the soldier that had pinned her. Then as if pulled by invisible string the soldiers rose from the ground and screamed in agony.

The mage hunter tried to do something but sadly her means of defeating mages did nothing compared to the ancient power, the soldiers limbs started to stretch and tear his, face open as if trying to scream but no sound came out. Then he exploded but no blood came out, Cithria looked in amazement as green mist erupted from his body and a familiar portal appeared.

Heavy footsteps echoed in the room, and the shadow of a giant reached the mage hunter "What?"

Mordekaiser had returned.

The lord of the undead looked at the surroundings and frowned under his helm, not how he pictured his second return but it mattered little now.

The last guard tried to run but Mordekaiser reached him with his magic, ghostly claws dragged him towards the tyrant of iron and what followed baffled the mage hunter, the body was destroyed by the strike of the giant mace that the monster wielded with one hand but with the other the ghostly figure of the soldier was ripped from the body and thrown into the portal.

Mordekaiser basked in the fear of the two mortal women before him and then turned to his descendant who looked at him in awe and fright, Mordekaiser turned to the mage hunter and pointed his mace towards her

"Bow down"

The mage hunter shivered at his voice but with hatred she looked up at him knowing that her fate was sealed "I will never bow before a mage"

Mordekaiser chuckled "A strong soul"

Red mist flew across the room as Mordekaiser cast his judgment upon her, her soul being thrown into the portal

"A fine addition to my domain"
