"It's clear that May has an axe to grind with me, but that was way out of line" Skye stated, after she had picked up her stuff.

"No one knows what's in May's head except May. Don't worry. Coulson will make this right when he gets back" Ward told her, as he and Kayla followed her.

"I can find him, guys" Skye insisted.

"I believe you. I've seen firsthand what you can do, even without S.H.I.E.L.D. resources" Ward explained.

"Yeah, and I've always known what a badass you are" Kayla smiled.

"Hang on, hang on" Fitz said, as he and Simmons approached her.

"We have something for you" Simmons told her, handing her a brown bag.

"You made me a sandwich?" Skye inquired.

"Yes, it is that" Simmons clearly lied, making Kayla giggle.

"It's a satellite phone...damper resistant. You get one shot before your bracelet shuts it down. So only call in case of emergency" Fitz explained.

"What do I even need this for? I'm gonna be spending the next three days in an S.H.I.E.L.D. broom closet getting debriefed" Skye exclaimed.

"That's right. A few agents are coming here to pick you up for debriefing...in exactly 12 minutes" Ward said, suggesting she make a run for it.

"Good luck" Kayla said, pulling her into a quick hug.

"I'll be back before you know it" Skye said, pulling away, as she walked off the plane.

"You going to be alright?" Ward questioned.

"Why Agent Ward, I didn't think you cared" Kayla grinned, as Ward rolled his eyes.

They soon got some information out of Vanchat, and informed Agent Hand. They then got a phone call from Skye, telling them she had found where Coulson was being kept. The team pleaded with Hand to let them follow the lead, and begrudgingly she allowed them. They soon met up with Skye, and after taking down some Centipede soldiers, were able to take Coulson back to the Bus.

It was a week later and they had been informed that one of FitzSimmons devices had been used to hurt some cadets at the Academy and were on their way there.

"This was the SSR facility before S.H.I.E.L.D. was even founded. "SSR" stands for-" Simmons started, but was quickly cut off by Skye.

"Strategic scientific reserve. Yeah, I know" Skye exclaimed.

"Is this where you got all your PHDs?" Skye continued.

"Oh, no, you need at least one to get through the door" Simmons told them.

"Damn…" Kayla trailed off.

"Is science and technology what you imagined, Agent Ward?" Fitz questioned.

"Yep...no uniforms, no rope course, no defined muscularity on anyone" Ward stated.

"No marching in place, no I.Q.s in double digits" Fitz retorted.

"You just got burnt" Kayla grinned at Ward.

"There they are. So good to see you" A woman said, approaching them.

"You look as lovely as ever" Simmons said, shaking her hand.

"I concur" Fitz added.

"Thank you. Agent Ward. Pleasure to have you, sir…and this must be the girl with telekinesis that everyone's talking about" The woman explained.

"Wow, everyone knows about that, huh…" Kayla trailed off, uncomfortable.

"Agent Weaver. There's a list of suspects?" Ward asked, changing the subject.

"Based on the level of intelligence it would take to put a device together like the one we found, we've narrowed it down to the top 10% of our Cadets. I'm worried there's a bad seed" Weaver told them.

"Ops and sciences have differences, but both have to be careful about what we call "bad seeds," people who want to use the tools we give them for-" Ward was cut off by Skye.

"'Bad seed' isn't a S.H.I.E.L.D. term, Ward, just a term" Skye retorted.

"I know you've already questioned the victim, but I have a few questions I'd like to ask him myself" Ward insisted.

"I'll arrange for you to talk to Seth Dormer when he's out of class. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get Agents Fitz and Simmons settled into the lecture hall" Weaver explained.

"Skye, you can come too" Simmons said, grabbing on the girls arm.

"Who would have known they'd be so popular?" Kayla questioned, as people crowded around their friends.

"I did" Ward said, with a proud smile.

"Come on. While we have a minute, there's something I want to show you" Ward announced, Kayla following him.

"This Wall of Valor" Ward stated, as they approached.

"I've never heard of it...That's bad isn't it?" Kayla suggested.

"No, every S.H.I.E.L.D. facility has a memorial to the agents lost in the line of duty. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s history can be traced on walls like this" Ward explained, as they stood by the wall.

"Must make you guys proud...all this history. Must be nice belonging to something like this" Kayla exclaimed.

"You're part of it too" Ward replied.

"Nah, I'm just an interesting case study" Kayla sighed.

"No, you're not. All you need to join is a dedication to the greater good. I…Coulson saw that in you" Ward informed her.

"How did you get into all this?" Kayla questioned.

"Why'd you ask?" Ward inquired.

"Well after everything that's happened to you, why would you have a dedication to the greater good?" Kayla asked.

"Uh…I guess I wanted to belong to something" Ward shrugged.

"Really?" Kayla questioned, suspiciously.

"What?" Ward replied.

"You're lying" Kayla stated.

"No, I'm not" Ward insisted.

"Yes you are" Kayla insisted.

"How can you tell?" Ward asked.

"Just can…you don't have to tell me though. I trust you enough to not mind" Kayla explained, as she started to walk away from the wall.

Ward gritted his teeth as she walked away, feeling like a hand was squeezing around his heart.

Author's Notes: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I think Kayla's last comment is going to come back to haunt her. I've done so much foreshadowing lately on Ward's betrayal it's ridiculous! Please leave a review:)
