It was later that day and they were flying to the Triskelion while Ward was locked up in an interrogation room.

"Thought you were Coulson" Ward exclaimed, a small smile on his face when he saw Kayla enter the room.

"Thanks" He said, when she handed him a bottle of water.

"Why'd you do it?" Kayla asked, as she sat down.

"I lost it. I got angry. He pushed all the right buttons" Ward explained.

"I don't get it. You never lose it" Kayla stated.

"I just couldn't help but think about what the Clairvoyant said, what he's done. Think about the Centipede program, how he experimented on innocent people like Mike Peterson, how he kidnapped and tortured you. And he wasn't gonna stop, Kayla. Not until they had stripped everything that's you away" Ward announced.

"Ward, I was serious about what I said earlier. I can handle myself. No one is going to capture me again" Kayla insisted.

"Well what about Skye? He shot her, and said that he would do it again" Ward retorted.

"I guess…So, what happens now?" Kayla questioned.

"I face a S.H.I.E.L.D. review board. Whatever the punishment, I'll take it. I deserve it. But I don't regret what I've done" Ward admitted.

"You don't?" Kayla asked.

"No. Not if it means you're safe" Ward stated.

"Well what about you? You could be locked up for this, I don't want that" Kayla exclaimed.

"Hey, don't worry. I can handle myself, you know" Ward said, placing his hand on Kayla's.

Giving him a small smile, she moved her hand around so they could intertwine.

It wasn't much later when Coulson burst into the room, obviously angry about something.

"Sir, first off, I want to say…" Ward started, but was cut off by Coulson.

"Save it. I don't want your apologies. I don't want your excuses" Coulson retorted.

"I'm not making excuses" Ward insisted.

"The only thing I want to know is whether you made the call yourself, or did someone order you to do it?" Coulson asked.

"What?" Ward inquired.

"Coulson, what are you talking about?" Kayla questioned.

"Don't play dumb, Agent Ward. Just answer the question...Did someone order you to kill the Clairvoyant?" Coulson asked.

"No" Ward stated.

"Coulson, what's going on?" Kayla questioned.

Coulson then told them how he and Skye had managed to work out that the Clairvoyant didn't have any special but instead was an Agent who had security clearance. Straight away Kayla's thoughts when straight to Garrett, but it was only a suspicion, she had no evidence.

"How do I know you're telling the truth?" Coulson inquired.

"Look, you said that whoever the Clairvoyant is would need the highest security clearance. Ward doesn't have that and the only person he's been in contact with for months is you. So are you calling yourself a suspect?" Kayla exclaimed.

"I wasn't put on your plane so you could make me a better person, Coulson! You put me here to make the hard call, and I made it" Ward added.

"That's not what I asked you, Agent Ward" Coulson retorted.

"I answered your question. I wasn't working with anybody. I take full responsibility for my own actions" Ward told him, obviously getting angry.

"Then why…what?" Coulson asked when Skye burst into the room.

"We have a problem" Skye announced.

"Stay with him" Coulson ordered Kayla, as he and Skye ran out of the room.

"What happened?" Ward inquired, when later Fitz and Coulson carried May who was unconscious into the room.

"She's a sleeper, I mean the other kind of sleeper" Coulson explained.

"Wait, what are you saying?" Ward questioned.

"She's been reporting on us the whole time" Coulson replied, closing the door.

"What…stay here. I'm going to go figure out what's going on" Kayla announced, following them out of the room.

"It's a simple message repeated. Semantic encoding. I needed to find the mnemonic key. It should only take me a minute more to decipher" Skye announced, as Kayla walked into the control room.

"Can I ask the obvious question? What the hell?!" Garrett announced, as he came down from his plane that had boarded theirs.

"We don't know. We don't even know where our plane is headed" Coulson admitted.

"Oh, I saw your trajectory. You're being tractor-beamed straight to the Hub. Those drones were launched out of there for sure" Garrett explained.

"Victoria Hand" Coulson exclaimed.

"Hand? Can't be" Fitz stated.

"It can't be what, now?" Garrett inquired.

"The Clairvoyant" Skye told him.

"I thought Ward capped that guy" Garrett suggested.

"I don't believe the man Ward killed was the Clairvoyant. I think he was an unwitting decoy meant to end our investigation" Coulson announced.

"That's a lot of trouble to go through for a red herring, don't you think?" Garrett asked.

"Because the Clairvoyant is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent using high-level clearance to stay ahead of us, make it seem like she's got psychic abilities" Coulson argued.

"She? You think Victoria Hand's the Clairvoyant? I don't mean to pee in the punch bowl, but that doesn't make a lot of sense. I was stationed with Vic in Lisbon. She's a hard-ass and a buzzkill at parties, I grant you, but do you really think she's capable of that?" Garrett questioned.

"Excuse me. Didn't she just try to blow you out of the sky?" Coulson retorted.

"Don't get me wrong...she's definitely gone nuts, but her actions prove she's not the Clairvoyant, right? I mean, if she's been hiding in plain sight all this time...why reveal herself now?" Garrett asked.

"Guys" Skye announced, as she finished decoding the message.

"Out of the shadows, into the light" Coulson read out the first message.

The message than changed into a word, revealing it to be HYDRA.

"Well, I'll be" Garrett exclaimed.

"I thought Hydra was defeated after World War II" Fitz suggested.

"It was. S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded in the wake of that victory" Coulson replied.

"And now they're back?" Fitz asked.

"Hydra always comes back. Cut off a head, two more will take its place" Coulson told them.

"Is it a head? I thought it was a limb" Garrett stated.

"No, no, no. Cut off a head. It's a head" Fitz and Coulson mumbled.

"But it was sent from a S.H.I.E.L.D. source. It's got to be some sort of activation signal to Hydra members within S.H.I.E.L.D" Skye suggested.

"Hand must be one of them" Coulson sighed.

"Okay, stop. Stop. W-what does that mean? In S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Fitz questioned.

"Targeting level-eight agents, seizing power. Wonder how deep it goes" Garrett inquired.

"Yeah, that's a really good question" Kayla said raising an eyebrow.

"The signal's everywhere. Deep" Skye answered.

"You know what this means?" Coulson asked.

"Yeah. We're screwed" Garrett announced.

"We can't change course, and we have no idea what's waiting for us at the Hub" Coulson explained.

"I say we blow a hole in the side of this puppy and parachute out, live to fight another day" Garrett suggested.

"We can't" Coulson replied.

"It's a cherry ride, I'll give you that, but let's not just hand over the keys" Garrett exclaimed.

"Simmons is at the Hub. We have to save her" Fitz told them.

"Oh, crap. Yeah. Trip's there, too. I don't mind saying I don't like the odds on this one. We should let your specialists out of their cage. We can use every weapon we can get" Garrett insisted.

"We've got to save her" Skye stated.

"So we'll fly in there, face the music...even if it is the Hydra theme song" Coulson announced.
