They soon arrived at the Hub, where soldiers started taking out their guns.

"Sir, what is going on? Who's shooting at us?" Ward asked, as he approached them.

"Come here, let me catch you up. Apparently Agent Hand is the Clairvoyant, so chew on that first" Garrett said, looking at Ward strangely with an intense look which Kayla noticed.

Suddenly bullets started to fly in from outside, surprising everyone. Ward instantly grabbed Kayla and pulled her to the ground, shielding her body with his. It took a few minutes, but eventually they were able to get out of the room and find a nearby corridor and find the munitions locker.

"Can that be true about Fury?" Ward questioned.

"Man was my S.O. Coulson's, too. Proved himself more than once to be a hard man to kill. That sound outside doesn't bode well, though. Is there anything on this plane you don't want them to get their hands on?" Garrett asked, as Ward looked at Kayla who noticed the double meaning.

"The 0-8-4 specs, Asgardian weaponry, portal creation, Donnie's weather machine. If they get their hands on gravitonium in the fridge…" Ward trailed off.

"It's below the fridge. No records" Coulson replied.

"Okay, but on the off-chance we'd give them the designs to weaponize it. The drug from Tahiti, sir? All here. If Hydra is really about to seize this plane-" Ward was cut off by Coulson.

"We should wipe the system" Coulson realised.

"I'm backing it up on this hard drive to keep our edge" Skye announced.

"Then do it. Scrub the plane clean" Coulson ordered.

"It'll take some time" Skye admitted.

"I'll help, two heads are always better than one" Kayla stated, opening her own laptop.

"We're working on buying you some" Garrett announced.

"It's called a mouse hole. Cuts through anything, really. I designed it a year ago and submitted it for testing, but it never reached distribution" Fitz explained the device he had used to get them all out.

"Top agents always hog the good stuff" Garrett exclaimed.

"The hard drive's safer in your hands. I'll probably end up losing it" Kayla stated, giving him the hard drive.

"Thanks" Ward nodded.

"All right. Here's where we split. Kayla and Ward, heading to the nerve center. Disable their systems, most importantly, their control of our plane" Coulson ordered.

"Copy that" Kayla replied.

"Remember, these agents are under orders. Use icers only. We'll find Simmons, get her out" Coulson announced as they split.

"So, um, how well do you know Garrett?" Kayla asked, as they walked along the corridor.

"He was my S.O…pretty well. Why'd you ask?" Ward inquired.

"He's just…acting a little strangely" Kayla mumbled.

"You don't think he's HYDRA do you?" Ward questioned.

"No, course not…do you?" She asked.

"Garrett's a good man" Ward clarified.

"I'll have to take your word for it" Kayla said, as she started to climb through the hatch into the supply closet with Ward following.

"Damn" Ward sighed, as he saw all the guards outside the closet.

"That processing center is at the end of that hall" Kayla stated.

"Give me your icer" Ward asked.

"What are you gonna do?" Kayla inquired.

"Pave the way for you" Ward told her.

"There's like a hundred guys out there" Kayla exclaimed.

"12. Level-five foot soldiers, basic armor package, and no other way through. The others are depending on us" Ward concluded.

"But its suicide" Kayla retorted.

"Not if I don't die" Ward corrected.

"No, let me go with you" Kayla insisted.

"It's too dangerous" Ward argued.

"And it's not dangerous for you? Please Ward, I-" Kayla was quickly cut off by Ward.

"I don't want you to get hurt" Ward admitted, looking at her, making Kayla sigh in defeat.

"If we make it out of this, maybe we can...have a talk, you and me…Remember in that bar in Dublin, I didn't really want to talk. I needed to keep things compartmentalized" Ward explained.

"Like with May?" Kayla said, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, with her, I knew I could. With you...I didn't want to risk it" Ward admitted.

"Ward, what exactly are we going to be talking about?" Kayla asked, confused.

"There's things that we need to talk about, that I haven't told you and...Look, I know I'm not that guy. I'm too locked-down, too boring but-" Ward was quickly cut off by Kayla.

"When we make it out of this, we'll have that talk" Kayla told him, as Ward nodded and turned around.

"Wait…" Kayla trailed off.

Shaking her head, she turned him back towards her, then pulled him down and pressed her lips to his. She moved her hand into his hair, as he started to respond to the kiss and then slowly pulled away.

"Don't die" She exclaimed, their heads pressed together.

"I won't" He replied, giving her one more quick kiss.

"Lock the door behind me" Ward grinned, leaving the room.

Kayla anxiously pressed her ear to the door as she listened to the fight going on outside. Suddenly everything went quiet and she heard footsteps walking her way. The door then opened to reveal Ward, with some blood on his face.

"If there's one thing you're not, it's boring" Kayla told him.

"You ready to hack the system?" Ward inquired.

"Oh, I'm not hacking" Kayla grinned, revealing a bomb to be inside her bag, making Ward grin.

It didn't take long to set up the switches, so soon they found themselves hiding behind a nearby wall waiting for them to explode. There was a small bang and a flicker of the lights, making them both frown.

"Is that all of them?" Kayla questioned.

"Wasn't as big as I thought it-" Ward was suddenly cut off by a loud bang and a massive explosion.

He grabbed onto Kayla, shielding her once again, from the explosion.

"You were saying?" Kayla laughed.

"Shut up" Ward said, nudging her.

Later, they found their way back to the team, and watched as the HYDRA agents in the base were taken away.

"Traitor! Traitor!" They saw Trip scream from across the room, as Garrett came into view.

"No…" Kayla trailed off, realising her suspicions had been right all along.

"What's going on?" Ward asked.

"Come over here Ward. We need to talk" Coulson exclaimed, as he pulled Ward into the corner, and told him that Garrett was HYDRA.

"Hey, where are you off to?" Kayla inquired, as she saw Ward and Hand walking past.

"I'm going to help Hand take Garrett to the Fridge" Ward replied.

"Help her? What sort of help are we talking about here?" Kayla questioned.

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon" Ward insisted.

"Don't do anything stupid" Kayla warned.

"I won't" Ward said, as he placed his hand on her face and pulled her into a kiss.

"Agent Ward" Hand called out from down the corridor.

Reluctantly, Ward pulled away, giving Kayla a reassuring smile before he followed Hand.

"Um, since when has there been kissing going on between you two? C'mon, I need details" Skye stated, coming up behind her, making Kayla laugh.
