Later that day, Ward went to talk to Raina well Garrett was talking to some of the soldiers.

"You were disappointed that he wasn't a real Clairvoyant" Ward stated.

"There was a question I would have asked...You've known him a long time?" Raina inquired.

"Ever since I was a teenager. He pulled me out of a hell. Saved me from myself. So, now do you know me? You know how to work me?" Ward asked.

"I'm just curious. If I wanted to work you, I'd ask you about Coulson and his team and how you managed to gain their trust" Raina explained.

"I jumped out of a plane. Deep-cover tactics 101...perform selfless acts of bravery early on. So I jumped to save the scientist. I had a parachute" Ward told her.

"May never suspected?" Raina questioned.

"Agent May was the primary threat, so I let things get intimate" Ward shrugged.

"You don't seem like her type" Raina retorted.

"I'm everyone's type" He grinned.

"Kayla was the unknown variable. Being her S.O. put me in a position to be a sounding board, get an idea what she was thinking and make sure I could keep track of her abilities" Ward announced.

"And Coulson? He wasn't skeptical when you pressured him to join?" Raina inquired.

"He pressured me. You'd be surprised how often you get invited to the party when you don't want to go. 'Sir, I was trained from day one as a specialist. I go in alone, I get it done. This team thing...not my speed'. I gave Coulson a person he thought he could help. Plane was full of them" He recounted.

"It's that simple? You really felt nothing for them? Even Kayla?" Raina asked, not getting a reply from Ward.

"I've seen the way you look at her, you can't deny you care for her" Raina told him.

"I owe Garrett everything" Ward argued.

"Don't you owe her anything?" Raina questioned, walking away.

Meanwhile, Coulson had been given coordinates from his badge and the team had gone there, seeing as there was nowhere else to go anyway. It was freezing outside, so they all put on their warmest gear and started to walk to the coordinates. After having a rant about S.H.I.E.L.D he threw his badge into the air in anger, when it was shot down by a machine gun. They all ducked for cover in shock. Coulson then bravely, went to stand in front of the gun and announced his title. A door then opened in a mountain, showing them the base.

While this had been happening, Ward and Garrett had raided the Fridge and returned back to their base, where they met Raina who wasn't happy.

"There's a complication with the hard drive" She announced.

"I don't like complications" Garrett retorted.

"This one involves Skye and Kayla. We had three teams try to hack it, but they programmed it to erase all data if anyone other than themselves attempts to access it" Raina explained.

"Of course they did" Ward sighed.

"In case it fell into the wrong hands, I guess" Raina said, looking at Ward.

"You know what that means, Romeo" Garrett stated.

The others had been taken into the base by Eric Koenig, an Agent of Shield. The base was one of Fury's secret bases, who Koenig confirmed was dead and told them that the Fridge had fallen.

"We're all a little shaken up, especially now that the Fridge has fallen" Koenig announced.

Kayla's eyes widened as she realised what that could mean. She immediately grabbed the phone out of her pocket and dialed Ward's number, trying not to freak out.

"Who is she calling?" Koenig asked, but she wasn't paying attention.

"We had a man at the Fridge" Coulson explained.

"Ward?" Kayla questioned as the call picked up.

"Hey" She heard Ward say from the other line.

"Thank God" Kayla sighed in relief.

"What's wrong?" He inquired.

"We just heard that the Fridge has fallen, are you okay?" Kayla questioned.

"Yeah, so where are you guys?" Ward asked.

Kayla then gave Ward the coordinates as he told her he would be coming to them soon.

"All right. See you soon" Ward smiled, as he hung up.

"Secret base, huh? Sounds just like Fury" Garrett stated.

"Kayla confirmed. Fury's out of the picture" Ward informed him.

"Well, that is good news. Gives us one less thing to worry about. Listen, about the girl…" Garrett trailed off.

"Look, I know how much it means to you. I'll get it done" Ward insisted.

"Hey, we all have our weaknesses. The heart wants what it wants. Can't control everything. So, if you can do it the easy way without blowing your cover, then by all means" Garrett explained.

"I just need some time alone with her to get the information" Ward told him.

"You'll have it. Coulson will be busy. I'll give you 24 hours to get the password and get out. After that, well...cross off the team and bring the girl to me. We need her. You got your story straight?" Garrett inquired.

"Yeah. We just need to make it believable" Ward sighed, as Garrett punched him.

"Who are you?" Garrett asked.

"Grant Ward, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D" Ward said, as Garrett punched him again, then twice in the ribs.

"Who? Make me believe" Garrett insisted.

"Grant Ward, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D" Ward panted, blood coming from his mouth.

It went on like this for another minute, until Ward feel to the floor, his legs giving in.

"I…I think they'll believe it…stop" Ward exclaimed.

"Oh, this isn't for the cover, boy. You spoke out against me today, because of that precious girl of yours. You better never do that again, if you know what's good for you" Garrett stated, as he kicked him repeatedly in the stomach.

"I-I won't, I'm sorry" Ward stuttered.

"Pathetic" Garrett sighed, before giving him one last kick and then walking off.

Later once Ward had arrived at the coordinates he repeated the words he had been practicing for hours. The door opened, revealing a smiling Kayla.

"Thought you might have given me bad directions" Ward stated, walking through.

"At least the machine gun didn't start shooting at you" Kayla retorted.

"My God, are you okay?" Kayla asked, putting a hand to his face that had dried blood on it.

"Oh, it's just a scratch. Maybe a broken rib or two" Ward told her, taking off his backpack with help from Kayla.

"Come on. Simmons should take a look at you" Kayla insisted.

"Okay" He replied, as he followed her along the corridor.

Author's Notes: I hope you all liked this chapter! Sorry if Kayla seems to be taking some of Skye's dialogue, it's just hard to change so many things. Please leave a review:)
