"You two, show me your hands! Now! Out of the booth, nice and slow" A group of police officers shouted.

Kayla was the first to stand up, raising her hands, as Ward followed.

"All right, turn around. Hands on your head" One of the police officers ordered.

"He has a gun on him" Kayla informed them, as they both turned.

However, when one of the police officers was trying to frisk him for weapons, Ward suddenly turned around and punched him in the stomach, making him fall back. In the chaos, Kayla pushed the police officer that was frisking her off, and went to put her laptop in the bag. Ward had thrown another police officer over the counter, and smashed a glass cup over another's head. Two police officers then grabbed him from behind, trying to subdue him. Kayla quickly picked up her bag, and ran out of the door, not looking back.

"Kayla!" She heard Ward shout.

"Officers, I surrender! Arrest me!" Kayla shouted, running over to them, needing to get away.

"Slow down, ma'am. What are you talking about?" One of them asked.

"I don't have time for this" She sighed, as she used her telekinesis to push both men to the ground.

"Kayla!" Ward shouted, running out of the café.

"Kayla, don't run. Please!" He insisted, holding his gun up in to show he wasn't going to shoot her.

Kayla wouldn't listen, and ran into the police car and turned the engine on as Ward ran to the side.

"Please, Kayla! I'm not trying to hurt you!" He told her, as she revved the engine and drove away.

He put his hands to his head as she drove away, in disbelief at what had just happened. Kayla looked at him in the mirror to make sure he wasn't chasing after her, but gasped when she saw something in front of the car. Deathlok was standing in the middle of the road and didn't seem to be moving. On instinct, Kayla turned the vehicle to try to avoid colliding with him, but instead collided with a nearby lamppost, her head smashing into the steering wheel.

She came to a little while later, and heard voices near her.

"Garrett told you to stay out of sight" She heard Ward say, as she opened her eyes.

She was back on the bus, in the cargo hold, her back to the wall.

"He ordered me to shadow you. He knew about your feelings for the girl and that she would take advantage" Deathlok told him, as Kayla rubbed her head and saw she was bleeding.

"Well, it doesn't matter now. She's here and she'll give us the location" Ward retorted.

"Yeah, that's not gonna happen" Kayla mumbled, as she pushed herself up.

"Take a walk. I can handle this" Ward exclaimed.

"Can you? You haven't so far" Kayla stated.

"Garrett says you have 5 minutes" Deathlok explained, walking out of the room.

"I can explain" Ward started.

"Explain?! How the fuck are you going to do that? You bastard!" Kayla argued, lunging forward, as she punched him squarely in the jaw.

She was surprised that she had managed to throw a punch, because she knew Ward could easily over power her. He must be letting her, she thought to herself, only growing angrier.

"You lying…" She trailed off, as Ward grabbed onto her hands.

"Stop. Stop! Calm down. Okay?" Ward said, as he pushed her against the railings.

"It's over. Okay?" He stated, as he handcuffed one of her hands to the railings.

"You've got to be kidding me" She panted, as she recognized the handcuffs from the time she was kidnapped.

"You've had these damn things the whole time?! I'm going to kill you" She shouted, as he came back into the room with a cloth.

"It's a different pair. You only need one hand in them to cut off your telekinesis" He explained, trying to stop his nose from bleeding.

"How could you do this? After everything we've been through?" She asked.

"I was on a mission. It wasn't personal" Ward responded.

"You did not just say that. It wasn't personal?! How was what I thought we had not personal?!" Kayla cried, seeing red.

"Kayla, please. Listen to me" He insisted.

"You were just using us this whole time. It must have been a real laugh for you and Garrett" She exclaimed.

"It's not like that. I'm a spy. I had a job" Ward broke in.

"And what is the job, Ward! Are you going to kill me? Is that it?" Kayla questioned.

"No. I would never hurt you" Ward retorted.

"You really think this is going to have a different outcome than me being dead? Once I open that hard drive, it's over for me…but I suppose you don't even care. HYDRA's already gotten to me once" Kayla explained.

"I didn't know that was gonna happen. That was all Garrett" Ward bellowed.

"Oh, of course it was all Garrett's fault. You liar!" Kayla exclaimed.

"You think I had a part in that? That I would let that happen to you?" Ward asked.

"Let that happen to me? It did happen to me Ward! They shot me in the freaking head, they shattered my arm!" She told him.

"And who came to get you? I had no idea any of that was going to happen. The moment I heard I went after you. I went against direct orders" Ward explained.

"Then why didn't you stop right there? Why didn't you tell us then?" Kayla inquired.

"It wouldn't have changed anything…I needed to stay with you guys, so I could protect you" Ward claimed.

"Protect me? You don't give a crap about any of us Ward, so don't bother" Kayla insisted.

"You're wrong…you know how I feel about you Kayla" Ward stated.

"Seriously? You actually think that your feelings…" Kayla trailed off.

"They're real, Kayla. They always have been" Ward admitted, as he cupped her face, stroking away some hair that had fallen out of place.

"Please, I-" He started, but was quickly cut off by Kayla.

"Nothing you say will change anything. I don't even know who you are" She said, shrugging him off, as she walked to the other side of the railing, trying not to cry.

"Do you...do you think this has been easy for me? Do you have any idea how hard it was? The sacrifices, the decisions I had to make? But I made them. Because that's what I do. I'm a survivor" Ward claimed.

"You are a serial killer. You've betrayed everyone!...I hate you!" Kayla retorted, obviously hurting Ward.

"Someday...Someday, you'll understand" Ward urged.

"No. I won't. I will never forgive you for this" Kayla told him, tears in her eyes, as she sat down on the stairs, not wanting to look at Ward anymore.
