Kayla was sat on her bed, her knees drawn up as she hugged them close to her. She had been staring at a picture of Ward for the last half an hour, trying to figure out if she should have known he was working against them all this time. His face looked sincere, partly sad in the picture.

"You didn't come out to eat" May announced, as she entered the room.

Kayla quickly closed the window, but knew from May's sigh that she hadn't been quick enough.

"How long have you been looking at that photo?" May asked.

"Not long" Kayla replied, lying.

"Is it true what Skye said? You feel sorry for Ward?" May inquired.

"I don't know…I don't know how I feel" Kayla told her.

"I imagine angry" May stated.

"You must be furious…I'm sorry" Kayla said, turning to look at her.

"What I and Ward had, it was nothing really. We just took comfort from each other when we needed it…but you and him…" May trailed off, as Kayla turned away.

"…You cared a lot about him" She continued.

"It's my fault" Kayla blurted out.

"What is? You couldn't haven't known" May insisted.

"But I did…in the back of my head. He would lie about things now and again, but I wouldn't take any notice of it. Then Garrett showed up and I knew there wasn't something right…I should have said something" Kayla explained, as May opened her mouth to reply.

"Yes, you should have" Another voice announced.

"Skye, I-" Kayla started, but was quickly cut off by Skye.

"You knew all this time? And you didn't say anything?" Skye questioned.

"I didn't know! I just…suspected something was going on" Kayla weakly retorted.

"You should have said something" Skye said, shaking her head and walking out the room.

"Everything okay?" Ward asked, when he had be called down to the base by Raina.

"Everything's fine" She replied.

"You have a problem with the drug?" Ward suggested.

"This isn't about the drug. I thought agent Garrett shared my interest in special people, in transformation. But now I realize he was just afraid to die. So I'm not sure how interested he'll be in what I found out about Skye and Kayla" Raina announced.

"What about them?" Ward questioned.

"I probably shouldn't be talking to you about this. I should go straight to Garrett" Raina said, pretending to walk away, but Ward grabbed her arm.

"Garrett's got more important things to worry about. You can tell me instead" Ward told her, making her smirk.

"I've been looking through the files that Skye downloaded from the plane. And in addition to medical records, I found hospital files, adoption-agency searches" Raina continued.

"Skye's an orphan. Been looking for her parents for awhile. It's not exactly a secret" Ward retorted.

"But that's what intrigued me. That and her DNA. It appears to be a match for someone I heard a long time ago" Raina admitted.

"You know something about Skye's history?" Ward inquired.

"I can't confirm it's her, but I did hear a story about a baby girl. Years ago, a village in the Hunan province in China. It was destroyed, every man, woman, and child torn apart by monsters trying to find that baby" Raina expanded.

"Did the monsters kill the baby's parents?" Ward asked.

"No. That's what's so interesting. The baby's parents were the monsters" She explained.

"But wait…what does this have to do with Kayla?" Ward queried, wanting to get down to the information he really wanted.

"Skye's blood…it's similar to Kayla's" Raina announced.

"You think they're related?" Ward questioned.

"No, nothing like that. Their DNA…it's different" Raina replied.

"You think Skye had powers like Kayla?" Ward inquired.

"I'm not sure. Even though their blood is similar, Kayla's is more…aggressive" Raina continued.

"Aggressive?" Ward asked.

"It could just be her blood's healing powers or…" Raina trailed off.

"Or?" Ward questioned.

"Or Kayla might not be reaching her full potential yet" Raina explained.

"There is something else" Raina admitted, as Ward ushered her on.

"If Skye's parents are who I think they are…Skye and Kayla may not have met by coincidence" Raina explained.

"What do you mean?" Ward inquired.

"I believe that Skye's family may be connected to Kayla's…but only time will tell" Raina exclaimed, walking away, leaving Ward even more confused.

"Grant, good to see you. Where have you been hiding the last day?" Garrett asked, when Ward entered the room.

"You were going to let me die!" Ward exclaimed, angrily.

"Well first of all, I think we should use our inside voices" Garrett retorted.

"You were going to let Deathlok kill me to get that hard drive" Ward realised.

"Come on, we both know that the girl wasn't going to let you die. You said it yourself, she's a soft touch…just like you" Garrett explained.

"What the hell does that mean?" Ward questioned.

"I saw how you reacted when Deathlok broke her neck, what happened to having no weaknesses?" Garrett inquired, standing up.

"She could have died" Ward insisted.

"So what? All she's done is made you weak…maybe I'll kill her just for that" Garrett suggested, as Ward suddenly punched him in the face.

Garrett stumbled back in shock, Ward's face also showing the same emotion. All the years they had known each other, Ward had never hit the other man.

"John, I-" Ward started, but was quickly cut off by Garrett, who started punching him repeatedly in the face.

"I told you what would happen if you ever spoke out against me again" Garrett stated, as he beat Ward's face to a bloody pulp.

"But that's not all is it? I looked at those handcuffs…you broke her free" Garrett said, as he started kicking Ward, who had rolled onto the floor.

"You've put our entire mission in jeopardy because of your stupid crush" Garrett announced, as he pressed down hard on Ward's abdomen.

"…But that's just it isn't it…it's not just a crush. And I thought you couldn't get any more pathetic. The first person who's nice to you, you fall for?" Garrett exclaimed, as he raised his gun, and placed it on Ward's forehead.

"…If you were anyone else, I would shoot you right here, right now. You have one last chance, boy. You go get the get the girl, bring her back here. If you come back empty handed, I will kill you" Garrett explained, as he shot Ward in the leg and then left the room.

Author's Notes: I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I thought I should add a bit to Ward's backstory, because its pretty much canon that Garrett used to beat him. Sorry if Skye was a little OOC, but I just feel she would be really angry about Ward's betrayal, don't get me wrong, I still love her! Also to the people messaging me saying that my OC's are a bit too Mary Sue, I spent most of last night doing these tests (because I got really worried about it) and they got pretty good scores. Of course if you have any ideas to make my OC's better, I would love to hear them. Please leave a review:)
