A/N:

Before this chapter starts off, I'd like to say thank you for those who are about to read this story. But I'm also giving you a warning because this story might not be continued as it goes on or be of your liking in a long time run. It is not easy to write a fanfiction with a theme like this (No wonder a lot of authors abandon their stories or try to revamp them but fails to do so in the long run).

This isn't my first time writing a fanfiction on KHR though. I have some saved up stories, but this is my first time publishing them. So I'm not really confident of how this one turns out. The storyline will probably go too fast, skips things, cringy and such. But I'm here to write, not to impress. Just point them out. Maybe we can sort them out when I give time.

Criticisms are welcome. But don't put harsh words on it. Writers bleed with the use of their pens. We aren't that insensitive. We cry on two or three stupid criticisms. But still welcome in my abode.

And I'm just trying out fanfiction. I'm usually a reader, regardless, I'm not one to give up on what I started.

Updates will be every weekends (If my connection to cyberspace is even strong enough. Ameen to that.).

Okay, this note dragged on. Continue onwards with the chapter.

Thank you.

Chapter Two

Demons are known to be humans' slaves regardless of how frightened the latter to the existence of these certain creatures in the darkness. The humans take them for granted and never repay them for the service they did. Some demons generalize humanity since most of their population were slaves for thousands of years. Yet those who have lived long enough to see the change of era have so-so opinion on them. Cause they knew that some humans have the decency to consider the feelings of demons despite their appearances.

Reborn sneaked a glance on the excited brunet beside him. Tsunayoshi Sawada, he concluded, is one curious creature just like that little brainy acquaintance of his. Being one of the strongest demons in Fiant, he had led a long life to see many smart humans. But the kid who is babbling just to himself is rather peculiar. He kept on pointing one flora to the blinking demons that surrounds them. If he was any lesser demon, he would have stared in shock at the brunet when the latter waved at a level four demon who happened to pass by. Of course, the confused inhabitant of their world waved back before going to his merry way.

He knew something was unique with the boy beside him when he caught the latter sleeping his morning away under a big demon tree. He got more inquisitive when the tree didn't shoo the kid away. Almost like his fellow sprite was contented with the light snoring of the human. So as a black crow he was, he too watched the kid sleep like a baby in the dangerous world of demons. Too dense.

But when the little attack on the brunet happened, he noticed how strong the lad despite the lack of contract in his being, he heard the unfamiliar incantation and chants that he used for his disposal, and he saw the gratefulness of the demon he had freed from a contract and the small relief in his features as he walked towards their campsite. To be able to encounter a compassionate human made him help the brunet when most of the demon populace watched the fragile being's every move. Who won't fear a demon who can slaughter half of their number?

He just can't help being mystified to the human who offered him food and sat beside him like nothing is wrong. Is he dense?

"Are you a sky?" Reborn looked at him. The brunet eyed his shirt. "You like orange."

"Doesn't mean I am."

"Then a sun?" Tsuna suggested. Reborn stared at him. "According to what I've read, suns are the most constant figures that come with skies. But the latter is very rare, so there are no guarantee that the theory is true. No offense, but you look like the sun type."

"Huh."

"You're dangerous but soft? Don't take it in a wrong away since I don't want to get in your bad side. It's like if you're irritated, you'll blow up. But if you care about something, you'll never let it go- Ah wait. That sounded possessive."

"How did you conclude that?"

"Well, I read about demon psychology." Tsuna looked at the water again as he ate an egg roll. "Man. I miss my mom's cooking. Anyways, I've encountered a lot of demons in my life. So far, I can say that they're the same as humans, since it is stated in the book I've read and I can say in my own experience. They have feelings and they can feel pain. I mean all creatures are. I even have this kind of nagging voice in my head that- Ah. I said too much."

"No. Go on."

"But you might get offended. I'm going religious here."

Reborn shrugged. "Who cares."

"Well, as I was saying." He continued, a small smile on his lips as he stared at the lake. "I have this voice in my head that contradicts to some beliefs. That God abandoned demons or something. That makes no sense, you know. Because the world won't revolve around the sun if there's only good. So in my opinion, no offense and I mean it so you can kill me if you get offended, demons are created for a purpose. Did you get it, my point?"

Reborn felt himself choke before a bubble of laughter went out of his mouth. He laughed so hard that he even had to clutch his stomach and felt tears ran down to his cheeks. He wasn't one to rationalize and question about life, especially their own existence. But to hear someone state that they, too, have feelings and were created for a purpose. It wasn't really laughable but admirable. So admirable and it piqued his interest further to the well read lad in front of him.

He panted for air after the laugh while wiping the tears in his cheeks. It was one good laugh, and he honestly hadn't got one for centuries.

"Here here. Water. Don't want you to get dehydrated with that much laughter. I almost got a heart attack on you." Tsuna said as he passed him water.

Reborn quenched his thirst with the water and laughed a little after.

"I knew I shouldn't have said that. Even some of my professor laughed at my opinion and scolded me for thinking like that." The brunet dismissed. "I should just write it down to drop it out of my head then burn it."

"No. Write it down then give it to me. I want to read a full essay about this opinion of yours." Reborn contradicted.

Tsuna stared at him. "Really?"

"Don't make me repeat what I said." The demon threatened.

"Sure! Sure!" Tsuna said excitedly, not minding the threat. "I'll make it brief and to the point so it won't bore you."

"Make as many pages as you like." Reborn liked how Tsuna's eyes widened with child-like excitement. He realized that the kid didn't joke about being ridiculed. "I want to read everything you want to say about demons having feelings."

"Okay okay." Tsuna beamed and was about to say something when a horn resounded. Reborn watched the human's expression morph to exasperation. "I need to go. I need to go home. I'll try to visit again with the papers in hand."

"Don't try. Do it."

Tsuna made a crunched face. "I hate going on trips."

"Just do it, human." Reborn said with finality.

The brunet straightened up and nodded. "Yes sir."

Reborn watched Tsuna stood up with used containers of food in hand. The young man walked away. But before he entered the forest, the brunet turned to him and waved wildly like a child. The demon only stared at the figure until he was consumed by the darkness in the forest.

After replaying what happened in his day and discovered that he just made a human acquaintance, Reborn stood up, patted himself off dirt and strode to the opposite direction of the brunet's with a small smile on his lips.

Tsuna sat idly in his summoning class. It's not like he'll ever get to try this class even though it's pretty much interesting. Even Hana was disappointed when she learned that he can't participated because he doesn't have an aura or any affinity and just colorless. He told them he's normal, but no one listened. It's not his fault that that old geezer enrolled him in the academy.

He was supposed to be a civilian. A person who must cower in fear when demons attack their place and wait for their heroes to come and save them from the malevolent (he's not generalizing) demons. His mom is a civilian, his dad is a civilian and his grandfather is a civilian. So why is he the only one who isn't? When kids envy those children about their age when they get in this academy, Tsuna didn't. He was contented with being his family and at home. But those old geezers just have to destroy his contented life.

The World Society visited their town one day for demon inspection. He was with his mother when they came into their house. They were rather bored at their job, he remembered observing. His mom served them tea and treats while he read his little book. One of the old geezers, he knew by the name Ganauche approached him and asked about the book. He told him the basic info about it. Of course, their topic went one to another related to the book. He could've shut his mouth if he knew he got recommended by the same geezer who conversed with him in about a month. Oh how he cursed the man to the pits of hell just to make him regret his decisions when he was taken from his haven.

And he doesn't curse and never learned to curse, just on that day he was taken.

And it wasn't his fault that he has this reputation. He was just being himself. He saw someone getting bullied, he defended him, he got into a fight and felt satisfied with the result since they promised not to hurt the redhead anymore. When he saw the same thing happened but different person and different people, he did the same cycle. After defeating one senior who is three years older than him by removing the contract after learning how to do it, he became the delinquent of Saint Academy. The only people who doesn't shy away from him are the teachers, Hana and Hibari.

"Tsuna!"

Tsuna's attention went to his caller. Before he knew it, his body dodged a blade like limb that was going to cut him. Swiftly, he ran towards Hana who had ducked just to get away from the incoming attacks of the demon and tugged the lady to hide under the tables. Sometime, the brunet can't help question why demons always forget to attack the lower grounds. It's not like people won't die when their feet were cut off.

"We need to do something." Hana hissed.

"Do what exactly?" Tsuna asked as he peered from his left. "It's looking for a prey."

"It obviously ate every soul after killing this many."

The brunet rolled his eyes. "What level do you think?"

"Level three?"

Tsuna assessed the demon. "Yeah. We can subdue it with a weak binding."

"Or exorcise it already."

"I can write the seal." He volunteered before pushing Hana to move to the next table just as the demon looked at their previous hiding spot.

"I can remember the incantation vaguely."

Both looked at one another.

"Who has the best calligraphy between the two of us?" Tsuna asked.

"I do." Hana replied as she pulled some rectangular papers.

"I memorized the incantations. Write the seal." Tsuna whispered before gesturing some of their classmates down. "I wonder why we're the only one calm at this situation and some idiots just can't stop themselves from showing off?"

"What do you mean-"

Both stared at one of the famous bullies stood up and was about to talk when he got sliced in half. Tsuna looked at Hana, convey a message containing 'see what I mean'. The lady only snorted quietly and kept on writing. Tsuna whispered 'binding' to her before tugging the noiret to another table to evade the snooping demon.

"I can smell a sky. Give me the sky." The demon called as he snooped around.

Tsuna took the papers from Hana and gestured the woman to the door. "Call the others when I start doing the exorcism."

"Right." Hana rolled her eyes.

"At least they aren't stupid enough to get killed."

Hana's lips quirked to a smile. Tsuna took a deep breathe, realizing that it might be his last deep breathe before he dies, then went for the opposite direction of the door. The demon caught sight of him. That made Hana a time to sneak towards the door and signal their other classmates to come to her.

Tsuna started to run the binding spell in his mind. He swiftly dodged a blade limb before making a paper soar to the top of the head of the creature.

"With the power that created the moon, the stars and the sun. You who harm. I restrict you!" He shouted. A barrier from the paper manifested, caging the level three demon.

"Human!" The demon screeched, sounding like a chalkboard being scratched.

Tsuna narrowed his eyes as he debated what incantation to use. "You killed too many lives."

"So what?! You all deserved to be killed!" The demon snarled.

"You who devoured a soul of life." Tsuna walked towards the cage. "Tricked the mind." He placed the exorcism paper on the center of the barrier. "Grasped the heart."

"I will kill you!"

"I hereby exile you." Tsuna finished off.

The demon shouted and cursed in pain as he slowly disintegrated from the inside of the barrier. Tsuna only watched before he looked at the demon in the eyes. The brunet knew he didn't need to exorcise him, but the only way to banish a demon from the surface of the Mundane plane is to cast him off. He is still finding a way to make a demon exile its existence to the surface without causing too much pain. But this one is an exemption. He knew it because it was a payment for all the soul he devoured after killing many of his kind. He knew when to be cruel and when to show mercy.

In a moment, the demon vanished, returned to its world and left ashes as its evidence. The barrier stopped working while the paper used for the exorcism caught an invisible source of fire and burned without any ashes.

"I'd like you to try doing so when we meet again." Tsuna sighed.

"Is it gone?" A voice called out from the door.

"Yes, Hana-chan. Did you send someone to get a teacher?" He asked back.

Hana stepped in with the others and nodded. "Yes."

"Good."

"Congrats, Tsuna. You just did your first exorcism without any practice." Hana grimaced.

Tsuna laughed before grimacing. "Yeah. I did hope it will be a normal one. Not out of the whim."

"In spite of that, we thank you for saving us, Sawada." One of their classmates expressed with tears. "If you weren't brave enough to do it, we could've died."

"It's nothing." Tsuna waved off before looking around. "Those who died are the ones who tormented us, anyway. May their souls rest in the demons stomach though."

"I hope that one don't get a stomach ache." The redhead, he knew as Enma, winced. "They're all bad after all."

Tsuna chuckled at that. "I hope so too."

Tsuna didn't inched away as a hand slapped his face. For someone who is used to punches, that one hand abuse hurt like hell. Talk about a female dog's bite.

He's inside the disciplinary office, in front of the headmaster Angelo, the guidance, Madam Cara, and the chancellor, Doctor Furikawa. The only age-wise he's with is Hibari, the dicsciplinary committee president. The one who slapped him is the guidance director who is never fond of him. She liked those people who show off. In Tsuna's opinion though, the old hag loves those people who dies first in a battle.

"You're such a disgrace." The woman spited.

"And you're an old hag who has one painful slap. Are you really fragile?" Tsuna rubbed the sore spot. He took the pleasure to see the other high ups laughing while Hibari smirked in amuse.

The woman glared at him. "Your lack of respect will kill you."

"With all due respect, Mam. If it is going to kill me, why am I still alive after that little attack?"

Tsuna evaded the second slap that was going to hit him again, just as Headmaster Angelo went between them to stop the guidance's hand. The brunet looked away as the three higher ups debated in front of him again, just like all the time he is called inside the disciplinary office. For the last two years, he had been the constant customer of this office due to his fights. That can't be helped since he is the one who is being pulled in the little skirmish.

He can still remember how the chancellor first talked to him when he was sent to the latter's office after being sent to Hibari thrice. Hibari let him off the hook all the time, but the chancellor talked to him still. According to the man, he was worried that Tsuna is home sick that's why he's doing this chaos. Tsuna frankly told him what the reason is, even dared the doctor to call the one being bullied. The guy took the bait, and now he believes him.

The headmaster didn't really antagonize him. Tsuna doesn't know, really. What he heard is the headmaster rarely favors student, and if ever he does, he is always at that one person's side. And no one defies the man. His name says it all. He is an angel.

"He exorcised a demon alone!" Madam Cara insisted with distaste. Tsuna rolled his eyes on that.

"That is not the issue here, Cara." Doctor Furikawa disregards. "The topic here is the students who could've died with the other butchered were saved if he and Kurokawa-san didn't step up to exorcise the demon. According to the other students' statement, Logan stepped up trying to be a hero and got cut down. Someone like him, a fourth year, didn't even plan his procedure, unlike Sawada and Kurokawa who are second year and third year respectively."

"There is no said rules in the book that a herbivore cannot perform exorcism when the teachers are not present and the situation is dire." Hibari gladly supplied, making Tsuna look upward to hide is laughter.

"There it is." Headmaster Angelo cheered. "We should even thank the kid for being brave."

"He is just showing off."

"Could've died with Logan if I did." Tsuna covered his mouth mockingly. "Ops."

The lady gave a frustrated groan before walking out. Tsuna waved at her retreating back before looking at the remaining three.

"I'm sorry if I caused another trouble." Tsuna apologized sincerely, like how his mother taught him. "The demon is a level three so it was easy to subdue. Thanks for my delinquent experience, I was able to dodge him."

The doctor sighed. "You've been irritating Cara."

"She started it. She calls me a disgrace, I call her a hag."

"Nezu-sensei had reported us that you haven't got any contract." Headmaster stated.

"More of he doesn't want to have one." Doctor corrected.

"I can live without one." Tsuna insisted.

"You still need one, Sawada. For your own good." The doctor replied.

Tsuna mumbled incoherent words before grumbling a 'fine'. "If I find one."

"Good. You know how to do it, right?" The headmaster queried.

"Yes. I read about it, and Nezu-sensei taught us how. I can make Kurokawa-chan brief me again with the incantations." The vengeful brunet stalked towards the door. "But I won't promise you anything." And he walked out.

Silence settled in the room.

"Are you sure that young man isn't Cara's relative?" Headmaster asked the doctor lightheartedly.

The doctor laughed. "No. But I bet you that kid will be a vengeful spirit once he dies."

"He did tell you he doesn't want a contractor." Hibari deadpanned.

"Any minds about him, Kyouya?" The doctor questioned.

Hibari scoffed. "The omnivore is strong. He doesn't need the school."

"I thought so too." The headmaster sighed. "He's too well read for a young man. I won't even be surprised if he stops going to his classes if he finds them not interesting anymore."

"Let's just hope Cara won't antagonize him that much."

Hibari snorted. "You wish."

The two authorities could only sigh in resignation.
