"Well this certainly looks like a hideout" Kayla announced, as they walked down an alleyway to the address they had been given.
Skye went to open the door but it was locked. She started looking around for something to break the lock, while Kayla simply extended her fingers, pulling the door off its hinges, surprising Skye.
"Yeah, I've gotten pretty good at this" Kayla said, smugly, as they walked through the door.
"Hello?" Skye called out.
"You wanted to meet, so here I am!" Skye exclaimed.
They burst through the nearest door at the same time, but still found nothing.
"Where did you go?" Skye questioned.
"C'mon, even if he's not here, he might have left some clues" Kayla ushered.
A picture caught Skye's eye, as she bent down to pick it up.
"Is that you?" Kayla asked, seeing who she suspected was Skye's father and a baby.
"Must be…I guess" Skye mumbled.
"I'll check the other rooms" Kayla told her, as she looked around for a bit, coming to an open door which May was already inside.
Her eyes widened when she saw two bodies on the floor, blood everywhere.
"It looks like a small blade. Probably a scalpel…and this was just pure strength. Whoever did this-" May was cut off by Skye who entered the room, the others following her.
"We all know who did this" Skye insisted.
"Guess we've both got psycho's for parents" Kayla stated, earning a glare from everyone.
"Look at what he did. I can't believe it. He's a monster" Skye grimaced.
On the way back, Skye sat next to Kayla, who could tell she wanted to ask her something.
"How did you get over it? Finding out that your parents weren't what you wanted them to be?" Skye inquired.
"Well I was kind of forced to Skye…they did try to kill me. At least your father cares" Kayla retorted.
"Why did my father want to meet you?" Skye asked.
"…Ward thinks that he knows…or at least knew my parents. I guess your father pretty much confirmed that" Kayla explained.
"How can that be true though? It's too much of a coincidence" Skye argued.
"Maybe it wasn't a coincidence. Maybe someone wanted us to meet" Kayla shrugged.
Later that evening there was a lot of chatter about Simmons and another agent returning from working undercover at Hydra. Fitz had been freaking out for the last hour, trying not to get his hopes up, but failing miserably. Just when they both thought maybe the information was wrong Simmons suddenly entered the room, a silence falling over them all.
"Hi" Simmons announced, a small smile on her face.
Kayla quickly realised that they needed some time alone, and after putting her hand on Fitz's shoulder, walked towards the door.
"It's good to have you back, Simmons" Kayla told her, earning a small nod, before walking out the door.
"5:30 on the dot, every morning. There's no clock, no light, no way he can know what time it is" Simmons announced, walking up behind Kayla who was watching a feed of Ward.
"Kind of like a caged animal I guess you could say…you've been watching him?" Kayla retorted.
"Every day before I left and every day since I got back. I don't know how you do it, going down there, talking to him…unless you want to" Simmons suggested.
"Are you accusing me of something?" Kayla inquired.
"No, I'm just saying-" Simmons started, but Kayla quickly cut her off.
"What? That I'm working with him? That I'm Hydra? Why don't you tell me what you really think and stop giving me looks behind my back?" Kayla argued, standing up.
"…What happened to you? Did Ward really poison you so much?" Simmons questioned.
"The question is what happened to you, Simmons. You just left Fitz here, he was your best friend and he was in pieces" Kayla told her.
"I thought it was in his best interest" Simmons replied.
"That's crap, and you know it. He needed you, and you weren't there!" Kayla exclaimed, raising an accusing finger.
"Okay! Let's cool down for a minute, huh? What's going on?" Trip intervened, running over to the pair.
"Simmons think's I'm HYDRA" Kayla informed him.
"Well Kayla thinks I abandoned Fitz" Simmons added.
"Okay, well I think you're both acting like two year olds. You got nothing nice to say?...Then don't talk to each other at all" Trip insisted, as Simmons walked off in a huff.
"Why does she still blame me for what happened to Fitz?! The real culprit is still downstairs!" Kayla grumbled.
"She needs someone to take it out on. Someone who she can tell it has an effect on" Trip stated.
"So I'm her punching bag" Kayla sighed.
"You'll work things out in the end…and besides you've still got me" Trip grinned, pulling her into a hug.
"Thanks Trip" Kayla said, hugging him back.
"Anytime, sweetheart" Trip told her.
Not long after, there was an attack on the UN that Hydra was behind, but framed S.H.I.E.L.D for it. Kayla and Skye had been called into Coulson's office, where Senator Ward's face was broadcasting and was calling for a call to arms against S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Guess being a douchebag runs in the family" Skye announced, making Kayla roll her eyes.
"Are you surprised?" Coulson asked.
"Ward's brother never cared about S.H.I.E.L.D before" Skye stated.
"Not openly" Coulson retorted.
"Yeah, but Hunter said that Talbot was working for a senator who had deep pockets. Do you think it's him?" Skye inquired.
"It would make sense" Kayla shrugged, as Coulson brought up a map of all the bases up on the screen.
"We can't let them take us down. Not after everything we've tried so hard to keep together" Coulson exclaimed.
"Let me guess…you want me to talk to Ward?" Kayla suggested.
"We need to find out everything on his brother. Everything, Kayla" Coulson insisted.
"Heard you the first time" Kayla replied, walking out of the room.
