"We need to talk about your brother" Kayla told him, once she had entered the vault.

"Which one?" Ward questioned.

"Your older brother. The senator" Kayla informed him.

"Christian…why? What happened?" Ward queried, itching his face in an uncharacteristically manner.

"He's proposing a witch hunt on S.H.I.E.L.D…we need to know his weakness" Kayla explained.

"You need to stay away from him. He's not what he seems. He always has an angle. And if he thinks you can lead him to me…" Ward trailed off.

"Ward, calm down. This is about him, not about you" Kayla insisted.

"Isn't it? Don't you remember what happened at the well? What he made me do? He gets joy from one thing…hurting people. So tell me, please, does he know I'm here?" Ward inquired, with fear in his eyes.

"No. Not to my knowledge at least" Kayla confessed.

This didn't seem to calm Ward much, as he started to pace the room, growing more and more frantic.

"Fine, you don't want to talk about him? Let's talk about Skye's father instead" Kayla announced.

"You found him?" Ward asked.

"A trial of dead bodies he left behind actually" Kayla retorted.

"I'm sorry…" Ward trailed off.

"It's not really surprising that my family would be friends with a psychopathic killer" Kayla shrugged.

Suddenly, the cell turned opaque, as Kayla turned to see Coulson standing behind her.

"He didn't give us what we need to know about his brother" Kayla exclaimed.

"Trust me, he gave us more than you think. You're slipping off track, stay on mission" Coulson glared at her.

"Please tell me I heard wrong!" Kayla shouted, barging into Coulson's office a few hours later.

"Kayla-" Coulson started, but Kayla quickly cut him off.

"Fitz has just informed me that supposedly we're handing Ward over to his brother. He's got his lines crossed…right?" Kayla asked, genuinely hoping she heard wrong.

"We've managed to break a deal with the Senator…he's claiming that Hydra attacked the UN as long as we give him Ward" Skye told her.

"You can't do that!" Kayla exclaimed.

"We can and we have. Remember who is in charge here, Kayla…or do you need to be reminded of that?" Coulson threatened.

"Don't you dare threaten me!" Kayla retorted, as Coulson's body went rigid all of a sudden.

"Coulson?! Kayla, stop!" Skye yelled, running to Coulson's side, who was doubling up in pain.

Putting a hand to her forehead, she closed her eyes, trying to get her breathing back to normal, as Coulson let out a gasp.

"What the hell?" Skye cried, her hand on Coulson's shoulder.

"I just want you to remember that everything that happens from now on because you gave Ward over to his brother, is down to you. All the hurt, all the deaths, all the destruction. All down to you" Kayla spat at him.

When she got to the vault, she found Ward on his bed, staring at the ceiling.

"They're sending me back to Christian. Back to where this whole thing started" Ward sighed.

"I know…look, when you break out just promise me that-" Kayla started, but Ward quickly cut her off.

"Break out? I'm not breaking out, Kayla" Ward told her.

"So you're just going to lay back and let them throw you in with your brother?" Kayla inquired.

"No, I'm planning on grabbing one of the guard's guns and shooting myself with it when the right opportunity comes up" Ward informed her.

"You what?!" Kayla asked.

"I would rather die than go back to him" Ward explained.

"There is a very obvious third option here, Ward" Kayla exclaimed.

"Why would I want to escape? What's the point anymore? I have no reason to live" Ward stated.

"Well you've got no reason to die either" Kayla theorized.

"Not good enough" Ward shook his head.

"I don't want you to die, okay?! How about that?" Kayla shouted at him.

"Why do you still care?" Ward queried.

"I don't…I just still need you to track down Skye's father for me. I need to know more about my family. Don't you owe that to me?" Kayla insisted.

"…It won't be easy to break out" Ward suggested.

"You're Grant freaking Ward, I'm pretty sure you can find some way of pulling it off" Kayla told him, earning a small smile from him.

"But when you do, just promise me you won't kill those guards…they're just following orders" Kayla begged.

"Okay" Ward replied.

"I'll have a look at the handcuffs they're going to give you…make sure they are not too tight if you know what I mean" Kayla explained.

"Kayla, I don't want you getting in trouble because of me" Ward insisted.

"I'm already in trouble, Ward" Kayla retorted.

"Try not to die" Kayla exclaimed, as Ward nodded.

Kayla didn't wait in the corridor like everyone else to see Ward carted away, as she thought it was pretty sickening. Only an hour later, the whole team had crammed into the kitchen to have some sort of emergency meeting, and Kayla could guess what it was about.

"What's up?" She questioned, flopping onto a nearby chair.

"Ward's escaped" Skye informed her.

"No way! That's a shocker" Kayla said, sarcastically.

"This isn't funny, Kayla" Coulson retorted.

"Neither is sending a man back to his abuser" Kayla glared.

"Did you help him escape?" Coulson inquired.

"Um, how many guards did you have on him? Like 5? He's taken down over 30 people in less than 4 minutes before, Coulson. He didn't need my help" Kayla explained.

"So you're saying that you would have helped him otherwise?" Coulson asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, let's cool down! Stop accusing Kayla of something she hasn't done" Trip interjected.

"Let's deal with the real problem at hand…Ward" Skye exclaimed.

"Well he's certainly going to be pissed at S.H.I.E.L.D…locking him up for 6 months…damn" Kayla whistled.

"Not helping" May told her.

"We need to set up an assault team, May, Bobbi and Trip you go after Ward, Skye and Kayla find out where he might-" Coulson was cut off.

"Is this a bad time to tell you I'm taking my holiday time now?" Kayla inquired.

"What?" Coulson queried.

"I don't want to get involved, so…yeah" Kayla shrugged.

"Fine" Coulson grumbled.

"Okay, well I'm going to start packing, have fun on your wild goose chase" Kayla smirked, as she walked out the room.

"Is it just me or has her sass just gone up about 1000%?" Hunter announced.
