When Kayla walked onto the plane, all the Hydra soldiers locked their eyes onto her, and she couldn't help but smirk knowing that they had fear in their eyes.
"Don't worry, I'm not here to kill anyone…not yet at least" Kayla announced, as they all went back to their work.
Ward then wrapped some plastic wiring around Kayla's hands and she couldn't help but scoff.
"What happened to the old handcuffs?" Kayla inquired.
"Hydra lost them" Ward informed her, as he did the same to Skye.
"You over there, you with me. You're going to have to strap in, these things go fast" Ward explained, as Skye was sent to the other side of the Jet, while Kayla sat next to Ward.
He carefully strapped her in, doing the same to himself as the Jet flew off.
"I'm guessing you went against direct orders to shoot down the plane" Kayla whispered.
"It always seems to happen when I'm around you" Ward exclaimed.
"I'm still pissed at you. Don't think I'm not. I wouldn't mind using you for target practice a bit actually…you know what, throwing you out of this jet actually sounds quite nice" Kayla went on.
"You always get threating when you're nervous" Ward stated.
"I'm not nervous. As I said, I could take down all these people if I wanted" Kayla insisted.
"If you're not nervous about them…then what are you nervous about?" Ward asked.
"Maybe meeting probably the only guy still alive who's met my family" Kayla replied.
"He's not going to hurt you" Ward assured her, putting his hand on her leg.
"Don't…" Kayla trailed off, shoving him away.
"Sorry…I forget sometimes" Ward sighed.
She knew what he meant, sometimes when they were together, Kayla still thought he was her S.O. Still the guy that she…well, she didn't want to admit what she had felt for him. She supposed she should be grateful for him bringing her to see Skye's father, but she was still pissed off that it was through Hydra.
Once they got to Hydra headquarters, Ward took Skye to go meet her father, while Kayla got stuck with some Hydra goons. The wait was killing her. She just wanted to see this guy, see if he actually knew anything about her family. Ward was soon back and led her to another room, as she guessed Skye's father was on the other side.
"Breathe…it'll be alright" Ward told her, when he could see she was freaking out.
"Yeah, there's nothing to worry about. Just a serial killer with a high death count" Kayla shrugged sarcastically.
"You're Skye's friend, he won't hurt you. And besides I'm going to be right outside this door if he tries anything" Ward went on, as Kayla nodded and opened the door.
A man was standing in the middle of the room. He must have been around 50 and was sweating like hell.
"I'm guessing you're Skye's father" Kayla announced, as the door shut.
"And you must be Kayla, Grant Ward has told me a lot about you" The man explained.
"Oh I bet he did…so what's your name?" Kayla inquired.
"Oh, yes. My name is Cal…My God, you really have your parent's eyes" Cal laughed, as Kayla came to sit next to them.
"You've really met them?" Kayla queried.
"I was friends with them…of sorts" Cal muttered.
"What does that mean?" Kayla questioned.
"Before we get onto that stuff, I just wanted to say thank you for always being there for Daisy…it means a lot to me to know she always had a friend" Cal explained.
"So, that's Skye's real name? Daisy?" Kayla inquired.
"Yes, her mother and I chose it" Cal said, looking down.
"Is her mother...?" Kayla trailed off.
"No. No, she isn't" Cal sighed.
"It's not a coincidence that me and Skye met, is it?" Kayla suggested, after a moment.
"No…it was the last time I met your parents when they informed me that you were going to be placed in the same home as Skye" Cal admitted.
"That was a long time ago" Kayla stated.
"Yes. I'm afraid I haven't heard from them since" He informed her.
"Why did that want us together? What was the point?" Kayla asked.
"I suppose it was for my own sake. It was supposed to make me feel better knowing that she had you. A powerful being like your parents" Cal went on.
"I was only 11" Kayla mumbled.
"What was Daisy like growing up?" Cal queried.
"She was always a rebel. Never did anything she was told, messed around all the time. A great friend…why didn't you come after her? If my parents knew where she was?" Kayla inquired.
"It would have been suicide. You didn't go against your family. No one did" Cal answered.
"You're scared of them" Kayla realised.
"Everyone was…still is…I mean they haven't been around for a while, but sometimes you get this feeling that someone's watching you…in the shadows…" Cal trailed off.
"What were they like?" Kayla asked.
"In one word? Cold. In the way they acted, the way they looked…it was all…cold" Cal told her.
"You don't have to sugar coat it you know…they did try to kill me, I know they're not good people" Kayla confessed.
"They tried to…I thought…never mind" Cal stuttered.
"What?" Kayla insisted.
"When you were born it became obvious to them rather quickly that you would be powerful…more powerful than any of them…and…well that just wouldn't do" Cal started.
"So that's why they abandoned me? Because they knew I was powerful?" Kayla queried, confused.
"They were scared…and trust me, they weren't the type to get scared. They kept going on and on about the darkness inside of you and how they needed to snuff it out, but I kept insisting that you were their daughter, you needed their love, not for them to…" Cal trailed off, again.
"To what?" Kayla inquired.
"I convinced them to just give you up instead, you could be of use to them in the future, and they seemed to realise that and let it go -" Cal was quickly cut off by Kayla.
"What were they going to do?" Kayla questioned.
"They…they were going to kill you when you were a baby...they were going to make it peaceful…" Cal confessed.
"They were going to kill me?! But they…they came after me still…and…are they still…" Kayla stuttered, freaking out.
"Please calm down, it's…it's not as bad as it sounds" Cal offered.
"Not as bad as it sounds?! They were going to kill me! What if they still are? Especially, now I've got a handle on my powers…I can't…" Kayla shouted, as the objects in the room started to elevate.
"Oh no" Cal sighed, standing up.
By now Kayla was full on hyperventilating, her head in her hands, and Cal was pretty sure he could hear her crying.
