A/N:
@marshyqueen99: They're afraid of Tsuna because he's a delinquent. He has violence written all over his face. That's the only question I can answer for now.
Anyways, good luck with this chapter. So onwards.
P.S. Who said Viper doesn't blush? Pft.
Chapter Ten
"Wew. I look cool in this."
Colonnello went to see their guest going down the stairs, wearing a familiar fedora on his head. His fluffy hair was tucked in, the Saint Academy uniform isn't worn properly, and his old rubbershoes doesn't look shabby with the outfit. He almost looked like someone popular in Mundane, a singer if he remember right, all in all he looks okay minus the rubbershoes.
The brunet, Tsuna, flicked his eyes towards the blond and gave a small smile. Colonnello got the feeling that the young man isn't really sociable. But he deemed that okay. It is good for a human to be cautious and friendly at the same time. Not like those ones he met over the centuries.
He is one of those demons who do not answer for random summons except when his symbol is accidentally used. However, that scenario is very rare to happen. As rare as seeing Lal blush. He despises how humans used demons. He is not generalizing though. He did meet some humans who are nice enough to sympathize and treat his kind with hospitality.
"Woah. Now that I notice it, you're a giant." Colonnello blinked and saw Tsuna standing in front of him and staring. "But Reborn is a little taller though. One to two inches I think? You could grow more if you drink milk. Don't tell him though."
"What?" He asked.
Tsuna smiled. "Anyone for breakfast?"
"None. The one in charge is sleeping." He replied.
Tsuna pursed his lips. "How about you help me cook? I'd be glad to have a sous-chef."
Colonnello felt flatter in his heart. "Sure."
He listened as the kid blabber on about what he thinks he could cook. He'll ask Colonnello what they usually eat in the morning, what could they do to spice it up, and what he does when he's bored. The blond didn't expect the last question, but he did answer it with truthfulness. Tsuna talks, questions and asks requests about the food even though he can just order around since he is the main chef. But he doesn't, and Colonnello finds that nice.
Colonnello finds himself smiling, laughing and wincing at specific parts of the conversation. He does those most of the time, but he is a rain. However with Tsuna, it was different. It's like the brunet is the rain itself, calming him down, making him comfortable and washes away the slightest worries (even if that worry is about an over seasoned omelet).
"Tsuna. Coffee." Colonnello gave Reborn a head up, when the latter sat down on his spot on the table.
"Yes, your highness." Tsuna responded cheekily and ducked away as a fork was thrown his way. "Oho! The king is quite impatient, isn't he, Partner?"
Colonnello snickered. "Yes, Partner."
"Hmm." Tsuna hummed as he poured the black liquid he brewed awhile ago to a mug and carried one plate of omelet, sausage, and three French toasts stacked together. "There you go. Enjoy your meal, master."
"This better be good, human." Reborn said as he sipped his coffee.
"Aw. Still cranky about the round two?"
Colonnello spluttered in shock of what Tsuna said. Reborn coughed though, probably had a choke. The little human cackled devilishly as he walked towards the kitchen. He wasn't even affected when the strongest demon of Fiant let his aura flare. Without his hat, the blond downright saw how red crept into Reborn's face. He almost grinned.
Tsuna is fucking amazing.
"Go now, Colonnello." Tsuna said as he shoved four plates in the blond's arms. "They're coming."
"Who?" He asked.
"Them." The brunet jabbed a thumb towards the door which the other occupants of the room poured in. "Go. I'm right behind you for the last three."
"Okay okay."
Colonnello watched Tsuna put all plates in front of Verde, Skull and Viper in a fast manner before reaching out for the kettle which contains the black coffee and poured some on Reborn's mug. He saw how Tsuna smiled on the hitman and put the fedora on the other's head, murmuring a soft, sweet sorry before putting the kettle back to the counter. Too bad he didn't see Reborn's reaction because of the hat.
He pulled a chair for the brunet before sitting beside Skull. Some of them only stared at their plates while Reborn, Skull and he were already eating. He looked at Tsuna who snickered and ate a piece of his sausage.
"Don't eat. They contain a lot of poison, right partner?" Tsuna teased.
"For someone who is a stranger in the house, you're feeling at home." Verde scoffed as he pushed his glasses upward.
Tsuna perked up and interest danced in his eyes. "It is only a common knowledge to feel at home in an unfamiliar environment since no one will say 'please be hostile' to a guest. Although, I won't stay that long since I have a class in eight."
"Eh? You're not staying?" Skull whined.
Tsuna's smile went from teasing to affectionate. "I can't. And maybe banned for several days again for being careless and stupid again."
"Don't forget disgrace." Reborn chirped in before chuckling as Tsuna tittered quietly at the inside joke.
"Talk about being a bully."
"Oh. Didn't you know that Reborn is a bully too?" Lal pipped in as she took a bite on the omelet.
Fon who was silently taking bites on his own dish smiled in amusement. "I sympathize with you, Reborn."
"Oh." A glance on Reborn who was silent. "Who does he bully?"
"Skull." Viper chimed in.
Tsuna's eyes looked at the hitman in horror. "How could you? Don't worry, Skull. I'll be your defender."
"Huh. You won't defeat me, delinquent."
"Eh. Don't believe him. He's still pissed off cause he didn't get his round two with me in front of one of you." Tsuna dismissed.
To Colonnello's delight, everyone of them made different reactions. Reborn's blush was darker than before while Viper choked on his French toast. Lal went rigid, Fon dropped his cutlery, Verde's lips quirked up in amusement while Skull's jaw dropped. Oh. How he liked it when he's not the only one reacting on that.
"But honestly, Reborn. My sides hurt. Your tickles are killers. You could use them to some demons if that's a power." Tsuna groaned before taking a sip on his OJ.
"I-I-!" Skull stuttered.
"I thought it was something..." Lal blinked and blushed.
Verde laughed.
Fon blushed and covered his face with his long sleeves.
"Shit. I thought you were..." Viper started to murmur.
"I thought you did sex!" Colonnello shouted.
Tsuna inclined his head to the right and looked at them innocently (it is a sin to look so naive in that way when he just went on full teasing mood on Reborn in their room). "Ah. You thought we were having a round two on that topic? We weren't."
Reborn faced palm.
"I like this." Verde laughed.
Tsuna smiled. "It's a pleasure to make you feel entertained."
"I sometimes wonder how the heck did I tolerate you." Reborn uttered.
"Oh you loved me the moment you saw the delinquent me. But isn't it nice? I can be like this in front of you when I can't in Saint. Well, it is called Saint Academy. I need to be one even if I already am one. So ironic but I digress." Tsuna dismissed before standing up. "I need to go."
"I'll give you a ride." The man offered.
"But you said you have a mission with Lal and Colonnello." Tsuna pointed out as he pulled his sleeves.
"Let me give you a ride then." Fon offered as he stood up.
"What's your animal?" Tsuna asked with curiosity.
"A dragon."
Tsuna's eyes sparkled. "Chinese dragon, I presume? I mean Skull looks like western."
"I'm a wolf though." Skull said quietly.
"Really? All purple and silver?" Tsuna asked.
They watched as Tsuna, Fon and Skull engage in a talk while they go to the living room. They heard Tsuna say his farewell before the door closed. They sat in silence to comprehend what just happened.
"Is he always like that?" Lal asked.
"No. But he can be when he wants to." Reborn answered.
"Such a witty human." Verde praised with a smirk.
"Deceptive." Viper said as he drinks his water.
Colonnello stared at Tsuna's seat. "Does he even know what we do?"
Reborn smirked. "He has a pretty good idea what."
Tsuna laughed loudly as they soared to the sky with Skull while riding Fon in his Chinese Dragon form. The sky is so high and he fears that he might fall but Skull assured him that they got his back. He was able to touch a condensed cloud and feel a little wet because of that. He likes how the wind caress his face, and how the sky is so near yet so far. Regardless of how he suspected that he might develop a small fear of heights, he marvelled how beautiful Fiant's landscape from the air. To think they have a big town in the center of the world.
He mounted off Fon and gave a bright smile to him and Skull. He was panting with all the shouting and laughing he did alright but it was too fun for him to even care how to breathe again.
"Thanks." Tsuna breathed in and sighed slowly. "The ride was fun. So bad you sucked at rock paper scissors, Skull."
"Eh. I don't need to worry about that. You get to ride me next time." The purple demon said with positivity.
Tsuna almost faltered. "Yeah. Next time. I got to go." He stepped up and caressed Fon's scale. "Really. Thank you. Bye."
Tsuna didn't mind the stares he got when he entered the barrier. He gave the two one last wave before he entered the portal. And like he expected, the three higher ups with Hibari, Nezu-sensei and Professor Harold was there, waiting for him. He wiped the emotions on his face and stared blankly at them.
His intuition has been tuning him of what will happen. This ability of his is something he was born with, so it never strayed. It became his constant companion that everything he does has a reason and it only acted up whenever danger is coming, or he needs to make a decision. It was his second voice and his little conscience. And he always follows it.
"Tsunayoshi Sawada." Headmaster Angelo called, eyes hard with determination and reprimand, with a tinge of fond exasperation and worry. "You are under house arrest for violating the academy rule of going to Fiant without any supervision. You are entitled to remain silent for anything you say may or may not be used against you."
Tsuna nodded.
"Omnivore." Hibari called, a handcuff in hands.
Tsuna smiled at him with fondness as he offered his wrists. "It's nothing, Hibari. And it's fine. I'd love to sleep in today."
"You're really reckless." The noiret commented.
"Visit me, okay? I'd love to have some stacks on energy bars. I'm running low."
"Fine. I'll tell the herbivores."
Tsuna hummed as he translated herbivores as Hana and Enma. "Okay."
Nezu-sensei followed him and Hibari out of the Blood tower and to the hallways. The corridor was void of people since the classes have started. It would have been fun to see their faces if they caught sight of Tsuna's handcuffed hands. He didn't mind though. He had been on house arrest for five times, including this.
Nezu-sensei asked him if he had breakfast, Tsuna said he did with a small smile. He always offer smiles to those people he seems worthy of it. He was deemed by other people as expressionless for being malevolent to his schoolmates, heartless for cutting off contracts, and cold for always glaring and not talking. Stupid but worth it. He doesn't need people who bullies others just for their own fun and accomplishments.
The two see to it that he enters his room fully, removed his handcuffs and told him that they'll get him when lunch comes. After the door closed, he immediately went for his shelves and traced every spine of his book to search for one specific text. No luck though. He did a double check on every shelves just to be sure before he went for the top of the furniture with the use of a steady chair. He searched for every title before going down again. He went for the books stacked up on the floor. He didn't need to search far. The first book of the first stack was the one he was looking for.
'Hierarchy of Demons' by Aria Nero.
Tsuna went for his desk as he opened the book. He started to read and took notes mentally like he always do. He read on and finished as a knock resounded in the room. He went for the door, opened it, let Kusakabe put the handcuffs on without asking Hibari's whereabouts. He was escorted by five disciplinary to the canteen. He took a plate and put some food on it from the buffet. Kusakabe removed his handcuffs and let him sit on his usual table.
Tsuna blinked and waved at the level one demon who is sitting across him. It doesn't look that bad. He's just a skeleton with a right bony wing. It has an axe on his left arm and is staring at him like deciphering him. He offered his plate, the other only took a sausage that he didn't mind as he thinks back about Reborn's friends and the demon himself.
According to the book he read in his room, it is dated that there are groups of demons that have rose to the ranks in Fiant. They are still high level demons, but some made groups as a sign of truce.
There are the Millefiore that resides in Mios, the white part of Fiant that is mostly covered by snow. They are being led by a demon named Byakuran, a demon with white hair and purple eyes;
Next is the Vongola that has Vixos as their territory. They are known to be very eccentric and have powerful auras. They were govern by a powerful sky centuries ago, but that changed, and is now being ruled by Vongola Nono since decades ago;
Then there's the Giglio Nero who is known for their women leaders who are skies also. The skies can be distinguished by the clover birthmark on their left cheeks. They have Noerim as their ground and are known for being silent;
Lastly, the Arcobaleno who rules the Aqion. It was noted that there are eight of them. They are powerful and known to have existed since the very first creation of the world. The top of the ranks. They have complete reign of their powers. It was rumoured that they always have a Giglio Nero sky, means they share the same sky with the group that resides in Noerim. And they never accept summons since centuries and decades ago.
The brunet focused his attention on the Arcobaleno. Why so? He has an inking feeling that Reborn and his friends are part of that group. They are the Arcobaleno. And his intuition is never wrong. The book has vague description on the members though.
The cloud is known to be really reckless. He's immortal and known to be the most civilized among them for he was usually summoned in America. He took their culture. He can deduce this one as Skull who looked badass with his piercings, purple hair and cool, casual attire.
The mist is known as an esper. He can track people and demons alike, read minds, use illusions, hypnotise and all. He covers his body and face. The only body parts that can be seen are the hands and lips. He is also very elusive and only accepts contract if the summon is willing to pay costly for his service.
The lightning is known to be a genius. He was always contracted for studies and hard questions that must be solved. His only desire for a contract is ten books that he can bring back to Fiant. Tsuna can see himself doing that if he becomes a demon.
The storm is opposite of who he is. He was regarded as a Chinese for he was first summoned in China. He adopted the culture after being contracted to a family. He was known to fight with martial arts he learned in China. And very calm. But never anger this storm for it moves like its affinity, destructive and does not stop until he pleased.
There are two rains, according to the author. The other rain is pure blue, a marksman who is very cheerful and confident, but very different when in front of an order. He is known to wear military clothes, and carries a rifle he once got from a summoner who he had contracted with. He can see Colonnello in this description.
The other rain is a woman. She is part rain, part mist. It was impossible for a demon to have two affinities, but the woman was created with this two auras. Regardless, she is a woman with a man's pride. She adopted military attitude due to her summoner who was taken to fight a war. It was rumoured that the pure rain is her disciple. Tsuna's thought drifted to Lal who was the only lady in the house.
Then there's the sun. The sun is known to be a hitman. Contracted to protect, kill, infiltrate and do dirty exchange. He was also contracted to bring pleasure, but that rarely happens (Tsuna felt a twinge of pain on his heart when he read that info), and the demon always refuse (Tsuna doubt that). He was seen wearing black suits and a fedora with a band around it. He likes guns and does things in quick manner. Very elusive and only talks to those people he finds interesting. Tsuna almost laughed at the last info because it was so like Reborn.
The info about their sky is little though. She is known as part of Giglio Nero, very kind, a fortune teller and always happy to help. But unfortunately, she died after giving birth. And the Arcobaleno never took a sky again.
"Urg-rg..." [Are you there?] Tsuna snapped his gaze to his companion. The other stared at him too. "Grah..." '[I finished your food.]
Tsuna blinked and looked at his empty plate. He sheepishly smiled at the demon. "Sorry. Lost in thoughts. Do you want another plate?"
"Frr..." [No. You eat.]
"I'm not really in for food right now."
The demon cocked his skull to the right. "Hrrr tzgrr..." [Human needs to eat.]
Tsuna smiled. "Okay. I'll get more."
Being able to talk to other demons are one of his special talents. Other than hyper intuition, fast recovery, and seeing invisible demons, he can also understand how low demons speak. It is the reason why he breaks contracts, since he can hear them complaining about abuse and insults being directed to them. And since he doesn't like seeing them in pain because of the unbiding spell, Tsuna tried to make his own version of them. So far, he has his own unbiding spell and summoning spell. He also discovered how to summon demons without using the incantation when he remembered his Grandpa teaching him that when he was little. Good thing he managed to help Enma with it.
Tsuna sat down again on his seat. The demon then stood up, reached for Tsuna's locks to ruffle causing the brunet to close his right eye to prevent a hair stabbing it, before he walked away with its axe on its shoulder. The brunet refrained himself from smiling as he ate the small food he took. After he finished, the five DC escorted him again to his room. He slept the afternoon with that.
Reborn looked at his watch and read the time. It was already ten in the morning. Tsuna is usually in the lake by eight thirty, talking with the fishes, who are quiet at the moment. He must have been banned again. Deciding to go to the Academy, he quietly walked towards the human campsite. He can't be that heartless and let the fishes worry about their human friend, can he?
When he arrived, a lot of people were there. Some were just taking food, others are checking their contract and probably bragging what level their demons are. Reborn almost snickered at the thought of Tsuna breaking those. Seeing those wonderful symbol burn themselves from their places on the human flesh is a sight to behold.
He casually entered the barrier. Not that it resisted since he was able to do it when he was with Tsuna in his crow form. The shield did shake with the power he had. Good thing it didn't break. Some of the students looked at the sky to see what's wrong with the shield, and why it was disturbed, they missed the only reason it did though. Reborn noticed Hana who gave him a nod, for what? He'd like to think an approval of visiting Tsuna who was banned again.
Really. Leaving a good impression with his colleague made them want him to come back. Fon was truly happy giving him a ride. The man can't stop smiling since yesterday. Talk about preening. Skull was excited though. He'd love to give one to the brunet who questioned a lot of things. It was Skull's favorite to brag about things. But it's quite something to see the cloud being himself, not the passive one.
The demon entered the portal. He hummed as he looked at the interior of Blood tower. He visited the structure decades go, and it seems the place was preserved pretty well. It will be bad if not. This is where those four sacrifices were made after all.
Humans stared at him with wide eyes. He didn't stop and greet them violently like what others do when they see humans. He has manners and standards, thank you very much. He only gave them a nod before continuing.
With the experience he had a night ago, he concentrated his aura and searched for a specific sky. The little color is almost dim, like it was nearly out. It pulsed yet steadily stayed in its place. Reborn wonders why though. Did Tsuna learn how to control them? They were fluctuating when he had a battle, it was like a fire a night ago, and now, it's like a small lick of flame, hiding and sneaky.
Reborn continued to walk in the endless empty hallways. He even got to see Hibari who is probably having a bad day since a scowl is itched on his face. Tsuna will throw a fit if he heard this again. He is really protective. An endearing sight to see. The demon did experience a small part of that.
He walked in the familiar corridor of the dormitory once he reached that part of the castle. He stopped in front of vandalized door. He traced the words with a frown. Tsuna may seems to be like these words meant, but he is far greater than them. He has principles, reasons, philosophy and belief that can be altered when he realizes something. Open minded and very indifferent with any creature, as long as not hostile with him. He is easy to understand when his reasons are heard, and if others are patient enough to rationalize them.
Just as he dropped his hand, the door opened and revealed a half naked, still sleepy Tsuna. Reborn can't help himself size up the young man in front of him. The body is white and petite, can be almost mistaken to lanky yet it can't fool Reborn again since he saw how lithe it is, but marred with different sizes of scars. He has abs, most likely gained from all the trouble he had caused, and that can't be seen with his shirts. Slender neck, defined collarbones, broad shoulders and a little muscled arms.
All in all, the kid has one of a kind human to see. And Reborn won't deny that he is terribly mouth watering if the hitman was human at all.
"I said I won't be eating breakfast, Kusakabe-san." The brunet growled with closed eyes.
"I didn't know you greet people in this kind of appearance, nowadays." Reborn responded.
Tsuna opened his eyes, and surprised crossed his face before a beautiful smile graced it. "Hey Reborn. Morning."
"Shoo. Go inside, Tsuna. You're indecent." The demon said as he stepped in the room and closed the door behind him.
Tsuna didn't say anything and jumped on the bed. Reborn gulped as those broad back flexed as the brunet tried to get in a comfortable position. Who said Tsunayoshi Sawada can't make someone do suicide without trying? The demon shook his head, opened the window to get rid of the warm air in the room and strode towards the bed, then sat beside the head of the teen to lean back on the headrest. Tsuna grumbled something under his breathe before looking at Reborn with an eye.
"Why are you here?" Tsuna asked softly.
Reborn shrugged. "I didn't see you by the lake. The fishes are quiet since you aren't there."
Tsuna winced. "Oh man. I should've told them that I'll get banned from going there."
"For how many weeks?"
"Not specified. I'm in a house arrest, as you can see. They're angry about my little venture, I don't regret it though."
"Am I that worth it?" Reborn cursed himself. He sounded insecure.
Tsuna looked at him with astonished full opened eyes. "Of course you are! Why would you say you aren't? I already told you, didn't I? I missed you that's why I went to Fiant. And it was worth it because I get to see you alive and not dying. I get to see a friend who was also happy to see me even though we got in a small fight. Really, Reborn. I don't regret a thing. I even enjoyed my stay inside your house."
"They're asking about you." Reborn said as he removed his shoes, put away his hat on the side table and propped himself on the bed. "Verde wants to talk to you about the essays you wrote."
"I would like to talk to him too. He's the guy who has glasses on, right?"
He nodded. "Colonnello can't shut up since yesterday. He wants you back."
Tsuna smiled. "How about you?"
Reborn looked at him. "What about me?"
"Do you want me to go back there?"
"Does my opinion matter?"
"Well, I get this feeling that you impose a lot. But doesn't it feel nice to be asked what you want instead of forcing it through?"
Reborn stared.
"Never mind."
"Get a shirt on, Tsuna. You'll catch cold."
"Argh. No. It's so warm." The brunet whined.
A tick appeared on the man's temple. "Don't make me."
Tsuna's eyes twinkled with mischief and challenge. "Oh. I dare you."
Reborn took the shirt beside him just as the brunet tried to get out of bed. The demon looped his arm on Tsuna's waist and pulled him back. He strained the latter by pressing his legs on the other's. He didn't care if his iron-pressed suit get all wrinkly with their little game.
Tsuna struggled. Apparently, Colonnello was right when the young man is good with old fashioned moves. Reborn felt a sting on his forehead when the back of Tsuna's head hit it. The brunet almost broke free but the man countered. The demon flipped them. The human is now on his stomach on the bed. Reborn pulled the head hole of the shirt on Tsuna before swiftly putting on the arms.
The little game finished with them panting. The human peered at the demon who is hovering over him. He didn't say as he released how intimate their position is. The hitman is straddling him from behind. Tsuna doesn't want to think of anything after that. Slowly, Tsuna decided to laugh, feeling the joy he had instead of pointing out their position. The man huffed a laugh before getting of the brunet. Tsuna sighed internally. That could've been awkward.
"I will never be able to defeat you, won't I?" Tsuna asked as he flipped over.
"Didn't I tell you that yesterday? You're hundred years early, Tsuna." Reborn replied.
The brunet looked at his companion. "Want me to wash your suit? It's wrinkly. Sorry about that though."
"Nah. It's fine. I honestly had fun. And don't worry about this. I can just go back and change."
Tsuna smiled excitedly. "It's nice to hear you saying things like that."
"It's a one time thing." The raven rolled his eyes.
"Heh. But I heard a lot from your lips."
Obsidian eyes looked at him, daring another little wrestling. Brown eyes sparkled again. The demon didn't give in this time though and patted the kid's head. Tsuna leaned on the touch before reaching out and made the demon's lap his pillow. In seconds, he was already asleep.
