A/N:
@AnimeManga738: Thanks. Your comment on the last chapter made me smile. Let's just understand those authors who can't write often or even update their stories. Not everyone of us can be as inspired and motivated. If I was in their shoes, I could've been like 'abandon ship!' if I couldn't find a good thing to write. So yeah. Let's just understand them.
@Kurosaki Yukia: So yeah. Millefiore, Vongola, Giglio Nero and Arcobaleno are groups dominating Fiant at the moment. Hibari is human and his summons are Mukuro and Chrome. His title here is demon of Saint Academy, instead of Demon of Namimori. He and Tsuna are the demons of Saint Academy. So he's definitely human. Maybe you got confused with the 'demon' title. Sorry about that.
@Caleo Ignacium: Thanks with the comment. No wonder I got a ting of inspiration last night. Good luck with your cold room though. Hope you don't get any stomachaches, so wear jackets to keep warm.
I really wanna answer all your comments, I mean there's a lot of loves and hearts and I feel so in debts of answering them, but I don't want to stall you long enough to read the chapter. So I'll just generalize and say "THANK YOU! YOU PEOPLE ARE AWESOME AS YOU THINK I AM. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TOO!". That's all.
Anyways, if there are grammar or spelling errors, point them out. I'd watch out for them for the next chapters (Just not this one and the previous ones). I'm so not confident with my English writing, or even with this story cause it might get boring in the long run...? (Don't mind me.)
So yeah... Onwards.
Chapter Eleven
Tsuna blew out raspberries out of boredom. He didn't see Hana's shocked face though. It was really a sight to see for the brunet to be this bored. He was not like this. When he deemed the class not interesting, he'll just go out. It wasn't normal for him to be like this. Even if he was on house arrest.
The brunet stared outside the hallways and sighed. Hana winced. It's like the young man is forcing himself to be here in the room. Of what reason, she doesn't know. It was even unusual for him to sit beside her. Or even attend all his classes for the day. Her friend is very cautious about being with her, since he doesn't want his enemies to target her.
"Okay. What's wrong, Sawada?" Hana asked silently. Not wanting to be heard by the teacher in front.
Tsuna hummed. "Just having this feeling."
The young lady frowned a little. "What feeling?"
"That something will happen that I won't like." He answered.
That's when Hana noticed the tensed shoulders and restless tapping of fingers on his table, lap or cheeks. He was keeping his cool façade, but in turmoil inside. What's going to happen? What is he feeling?
They all left the room when the bell rang out. Tsuna stayed beside her until they were inside their next class. She didn't mind but she can't help feeling alert too. It surely was noticed since the brunet smiled at her, making her ease up a little. She shook her head mentally while insulting her friend inside her head. It resulted to Tsuna sneezing. She didn't stop herself from smiling because of that.
They were listening to Nezu-sensei when Tsuna sprung up, eyes darting everywhere. Hana was about to say something when the window broke. She doesn't know what was happening, but she did hear the brunet doing an incantation. Then she saw him being hit. And she shouted his name in horror.
"Tsuna!"
Tsuna coughed blood, a hand on his chest wound that is bleeding a lot. He eyed Hana who is being attacked but is safe inside a barrier he made. He put his attention to his professor who is torn from going to him or putting his other students to safety.
The room is a barrier itself so it is impossible for the demon to go to the hallways. Unless, it is a powerful one, like Reborn. Once they are out, they're already safe. They only have to worry about the demon and the trapped kids. They have to call the most experienced ones, probably the headmaster and the chancellor. Definitely not Madam Cara, though. Tsuna doubts she knew how to exorcist a demon, but she makes the most powerful barrier and shield.
He tried to make eye contact with the teacher. He did though. He smiled at the worried man, made a thumbs up before signing them to go, then picked up a leg of a chair and throwing it far away. The semi-demon rushed there and left Hana alone, who sighed in relief. The students went outside silently and closed the door behind them. Nezu didn't leave though, and that made the brunet scowl.
The man carefully pulled a paper behind him and hid behind the teacher's table. The brunet watched, carefully trying to regain his breathing and making himself used to the pain he is feeling. It's fatal, but he can still save Nezu-sensei when needed. He can't just die if his teacher is in danger, can he?
He has been feeling a little jittery since yesterday. It doubled this morning and kept him on his toes the moment they entered the room. This is the problem with his hyper intuition. It gives him danger signals, but doesn't tell him what it is. He just has to prepare for the worst and expect the unexpected when it comes.
Tsuna stared and kept his breathing steady, even if it's hard since he's in pain, for the demon not to notice his presence. He watched it toss things, ducking a little when needed, and moving his body to avoid some flying things. The demon is obviously looking for something. But it is not talking. No murmurs, utters nor curses. And everytime he comes near a little, the brunet can get a whiff of grass and raspberries. Tsuna suspects it's a six that lived off in the Mundane world and got stronger as it survives, but its image is not semi. It's a demon with dark miasma as its clothing. The miasma is so strong that it looks flowy and creates an after image of whenever it moves. So far it hasn't killed a student, only attacked Hana and injuried him.
"Demon!"
Tsuna's eyes widened when Nezu went out of hiding with the paper clipped between index and middle fingers. His breathe hitched as his mind alerted him, telling him to move and save the human who is trying to do an exorcism of a demon they barely know what it could do.
"Abandoned by God! Abased by Heavens! Abhored by Earth! I command you to return to Hell!"
The whole room lit up with lightning affinity. The demon screetched as electricity attacked it at all angles. But in instant, the exorcism stopped as the miasma went stronger and dispelled the incantations. Tsuna decided to move by then.
The demon went for the teacher. The latter froze on the spot, no back up plan after the first failed to stop the creature. Hana shouted for the man to move aside, but he couldn't. But Tsuna was able to reach him. Nezu Douhachiro stared at the battered brunet who stood in front of him, ready to defend him. He remembered how the young man slowly took a breathe and flared his sky aura so much that it became an unbearable heat. And suddenly it vanished.
Nezu scrabbled up to his feet to catch Tsuna who leaned sideways. The brunet fainted. And damn is he bloody with all the wounds he accumulated. He was just in danger three months ago, and now here he is again.
"Tsunayoshi Sawada is rather in pain."
"Fuck. And all because of this demon who is going for level eight?"
"Where the heck is Reborn when he's needed?!"
"Chaos." Nezu looked at his right where the word was uttered. A man in black suit and black fedora is walking towards them. He remembers him. It was the demon who helped Tsuna. "I need Tsuna."
"He needs medical attention." The teacher said instead.
"I know. That's why I'm taking him." The demon answered as he took the brunet.
"Are you his contractor?" Nezu asked. But the demon didn't answer. "What are you to him?"
"His friend." The other answered. "Lal! Take the lady to safety!"
"Yeah." The only woman in the group replied before dashing forward while firing her guns.
"Fon, this man."
"Yes." A Chinese man affirmed as he walked towards them, a smile plastered on his face. "Do not fear. We can handle this." And he guided Nezu to stand and out of door just in time to see the three higher ups of the Academy arrive.
"What happened here?" Headmaster Angelo asked.
"One fatally injured student." Hana answered in her sensei's stead while being guided by Lal Mirch.
All looked towards the room when they heard a loud 'bang' and a yell of triumphant.
"The demon is being subdued." Nezu added on.
The two demons who escorted them out went back to the room while a green head stepped out and didn't acknowledged them. The students stared at the man who is walking towards the way a man in black suit took while holding a bloody Tsunayoshi in his arms.
"The students are all here." Hana said before walking towards the way the green head took. "I'm going."
"Wait Kurokawa! You need to go to the nurse!" Nezu tried to negotiate.
"I will, once I see him." The lady replied as she went on.
"Where is Tsunayoshi?" The Chancellor asked, worried.
"He probably jumped to the window to get away." Madam Cara easily dismissed.
Nezu didn't dare lash out on the woman. "Sawada saved me and Kurokawa from being attacked. Kurokawa was the nearest to the demon. He was able to protect her by a barrier, but took a great damage when the demon threw him away. He also distracted it to get the students out of the room. He also leapt for my safety. He is fatally injured but the demon he always is with took him."
"Oh." The headmaster blurted before sighing. "I apologize for our delayed arrival."
"It was handled by Sawada just fine." Nezu responded and took a deep breathe. He hadn't felt the impact of almost losing his life. Not that it's his first time. "I just hope he is okay. A big wound on the chest is not something we can survive."
The headmaster only nodded. "Madam Cara, take care of the students."
"Yes Sir." The woman affirmed and did the task.
"Come Nezu. You need to rest too." Doctor Furikawa beckoned, an arm dropped on thw professor's shoulder. "We will visit Tsunayoshi after you rest."
Nezu nodded. "Thank you."
Before he slept, he recalled the broad shoulder of one Tsunayoshi Sawada who bravely protected him despite the death in front of him. He doesn't know much about the brunet, but he knew a survivor when he sees one.
Hana took a shaky breathe to steady her worried mind. Hand gripping Tsuna's, she murmured prayers. She can see Reborn sitting by the door. She doesn't know if the demon is exhausted or not. He was the one who took care of Tsuna the most.
They almost lost them thrice. It was like she can hear the brunet's heart beat stopping whenever Reborn tries to revive him. Sun flames was able to close the wounds, but the lost blood can't be replenished immediately. The scientist, Verde, also helped. Apparently, they know how to revive a heart by injecting lightning to it. It was also a good thing that a cloud friend of theirs came. He was able to duplicate the amount of blood in the young man's body after the third time.
Now, Tsuna is stable and sleeping peacefully. Hana has this urge to smack him for being careless. But she'll do that when he's awake. She'll do that then thank him for protecting her again. Like every other danger they encounter.
"A-Are y-you ca-crying, Hana-chan?" The lady's eyes went to Tsuna so fast. The brunet weakly smiled at her. "O-Oh. Not. Ta-That's good."
"Tsuna!" She called in relief.
The brunet chuckled before groaning in pain. "Man. D-Did I broke ma-my rib cage?"
"Apparently not one." Reborn answered in her stead. Hana went for the water jug and glasses. "You broke three of your ribs, a fracture on the sternum and created a hole near your heart."
Tsuna beamed in happiness that Hana never saw before. "Reborn! You're here!"
"You called."
"Again?" The brunet asked as he tried to sit up.
"You cannot sit alone, Tsunayoshi Sawada." Verde said as he went for the human's aid.
Hana gave the cup of water to her friend. "Being reckless, aren't we?"
Tsuna waved a dismissive hand. "As always." And he drunk the water. "Nezu-sensei?"
"He visited you with Doctor Furikawa awhile ago." Hana replied as she put the glass away. "He was really grateful you know. I knew he never say things to Madam Cara whenever that bitch berates you, since he respects the woman a lot, but he defended you and told them all you did."
"O-Oh."
Hana fisted her hand and smacked him hard on the back of his head. "That is for being reckless." Another. "That is for wearing your heart on your sleeves and being selfless." And another. "That is for being so stupid and leaping on danger just to save one life instead of prioritizing your safety." Then she hugged him.
"And this is...?" Tsuna teased.
Hana huffed, tears forming in her eyes. "This is for saving me all the time."
The brunet laughed before wheezing, and hugging her back. "I'll do it a thousand times just to keep you safe, Hana. You're one of my precious people."
"But your favorite is Reborn."
Tsuna parted from her in record time and stared in genuine astonishment yet masked in mock surprise. "How did you know?"
"Duh." Hana sarcastically said with a flip of her hair.
"What is it?" A new voice asked
"Skull!" Tsuna shouted happily. "Hi!"
"Hey. Here's food for you. Took it from the prefect. Hell scary human." The Cloud said as he put a tray of food on the bed.
"Come. Eat with me." The young man beckoned as he put away the tray.
"There's only a pair of cutlery, Tsunayoshi." Verde pointed out.
Tsuna waved his hand. "I have like nine pairs of that. Can you get it for me, Skull? It's on the third drawer. Take four."
Hana facepalmed as the demon took some spoons and forks from the drawer. "You stole them."
"It is not my fault that they house arrest me all the time." Tsuna defended. "The part two of that book is on the third shelf on your right, Verde."
Verde stood up to take the book.
"So what were you talking about?" Skull asked as he placed the silvers on the tray.
Tsuna eyed Reborn when the latter took a fork and stabbed a piece of sausage to eat. "Hana guessed that Reborn is my favorite among my precious people list."
The hitman halted from his action and blinked at him.
Tsuna beamed. "I mean it."
"It makes me think that you have hidden agenda, Tsuna." The demon smirked.
"Only to you." The brunet winked.
Skull laughed while Hana sighed. Verde took a fork, twirled a pasta and ate it, with a small smile in his lips. Hana knew Tsuna can be really mischievous, but not to the extent that he'll banter with dangerous demons.
"He smelled like grass."
Reborn looked at Tsuna. The brunet is writing something on a paper and murmuring things. Verde looked up from his book and gazed at the young man before making an eye contact with the hitman. Skull didn't say anything and continued flipping some magazine he found.
Hana went out after Tsuna insisted that she needs to talk to the chancellor. The lady was reluctant but the brunet promised that he'll be good and told her that Reborn can be very scary when he needs to. Hana threatened them though before she went out. Reborn saluted the woman for being so strict with Tsuna.
Once again, the brunet was able to amaze Reborn with his fast recovery. Despite the three flatlines he experienced, Tsuna woke up after five hours of sleep and still awake up until now. Even Verde blinked when he heard the brunet talk as he woke up.
Awhile ago was really something. To be teleported in the Mundane world after a pentagram appeared in the sky of Fiant... It was thrilling. He knew Tsuna was calling again. His aura was singing in glee when he felt the sky aura of the brunet flaring and requesting for help. But to think the other arcobaleno also responded.
Reborn shook his head and stood up from his chair and walked towards the kid. He sat down beside Tsuna and looked at the writings he did. More of a simple drawing.
"He smelled like grass." Tsuna repeated what he said. "When he passed by me, I smelled grass."
"The demon?"
Tsuna nodded. "He was a level six, I think? I mean he felt like level six but he doesn't look like it. He appeared level one. He looked like a shadow with an after image. His miasma is like his cloak, flapping in the air and gives an eerie feeling of how powerful he is."
"If you're going to name him," Reborn almost spat the word him. That demon almost killed his human. "what will it be?"
"Bermuda." Tsuna smiled at him. "Like how bermuda grass looks so sharp yet beautiful at the same time."
"Hm."
"Oh. Don't be mad. I like your name too. Reborn. Renato in Italian. Renascitur in Latin. Renaitre in French. Wiedergeboren in German. But I like how Renato roll of my tongue though. You agree, Verde?"
"Dunno. I'm not in love with that demon beside you." The scientist replied.
Tsuna laughed before wincing, but still smiled. "Aw. Should we go elope, Reborn? He did say I'm in love to you."
Reborn rolled his eyes, a pang of pain in his chest. "Shut up. If you're not gonna be earnest with it, don't make offers like that."
Reborn only received one of Tsuna's mysterious smiles. He suddenly felt a spike on his heart beat with that, replacing the pain he felt just a second ago.
Tsuna gripped Reborn's hand tight. Once Verde and Skull went back to Fiant, he let his façade crumble. The pain is unbearable since he woke up. He just didn't want to see Hana look so worried. A hand on his bandaged chest, Tsuna heaved deep breathes to get himself used to the pain.
"You should go to sleep. It'll help with the pain." The demon beside him suggested. Regardless of the expressionless face, his voice is laced with worry.
Tsuna tried to smile, probably looked like a grimace. "You're right."
"You could've said so earlier." The hitman muttered as he assisted him in laying on the bed. "I'll call in Colonnello to help you relax."
Tsuna gripped the other's hand tight and shook his head. "No. Stay with me. Please." Reborn stared at him. The brunet almost winced. He sounded like he's begging. "N-Never mind. Go on."
Tsuna slowly went to his left side and closed his eyes, a hand on his flaming chest. He tightly shut them and tried to clear his mind. His heart ached when he heard shuffling, thinking Reborn went on. But the weight on the other side of the bed didn't lift. It shuffled closer. The blanket was pulled before being tugged upward. He looked back only to feel an arm around his waist, a warm body almost pressed on his back, warm breathe on the back of his neck, and the smell of gunpowder and coffee clinging to him.
"I'll stay." Reborn murmured on his ears. "You're always be my priority, Tsuna."
"It just hurts." He whispered.
"I'm here." The hitman said, raising his hand on the brunet's chest. Tsuna felt warm when sun aura slowly healed him. "Thank you for letting me see this side of you."
"You're my favorite among them."
"... Why?"
"Because you're you. You listen, you stay, you talk and you help me in any possible way. And I want to do the same thing for you. And maybe save you from anything you're troubled with. That's how precious you are for me."
The arm around his waist tightened and pulled him back. "Thank you."
"Always, Reborn. For a friend. Always."
Colonnello smiled as he perched himself on the chair beside the bed. He looked at Viper and Lal who are staring at the two individuals on the bed. He would really love to laugh at their reaction, but that will wake up Tsuna who deserves all the sleep he could get.
On the bed are Tsuna and Reborn, tangled together. It's unusual to see their fellow arcobaleno sleeping without a care in the world. Obviously basking himself with the protective blanket of sky aura from Tsuna who was snuggling on him.
When Colonnello first got here, he felt the tension. Tsuna's pain and discomfort on his wounds are in the air and seen on his face, so he let his rain aura comfort them. The frown softened until it vanished and replaced by a grateful and peaceful look. Though he felt a little jealous with how he snuggled to Reborn. He wants to sleep with the little sky too.
It's been years since they felt a sky with them. And this close. To think it's a human and a nice one. He knew others are very cautious. Humans have bad impression in them. But Tsuna is just too... Eccentric for them to let go. And demons love being weird and seeing weird things all the time.
"Where did you put him." A baritone voice asked. More like stated. Reborn will always be Reborn. Stoic and cold. But never heartless.
"Basement. He turned into his human form from the moment he became a level eight." Lal answered.
Black eyes peered at them from their position. "Tsuna is interested on him."
"How so? The demon tried to kill him." Viper pointed out.
"He just is." Reborn responded, before gazing at the sleeping brunet beside him. "He even named him Bermuda. Might as well get to know that thing."
"Mou. Another mouth to feed." The mist complained.
Colonnello felt a tick mark appeared on his right temple. "Money monster."
Viper's lips quirked up. "I am a money monster."
"You never cease to amaze me with your unique insults, Colonnello." Reborn snorted.
"I don't even know where did I go wrong." Lal muttered under her breathe. "I trained him but he's too stupid."
"I wonder how the two of you are related." Viper hummed and floated away just as the pure rain chucked an unused spoon towards him. "Tsunayoshi will sue you if you destroy his room, Idiot."
"Shut up! Not like you care about his room!" The blond yelled, only earning laughs from the three.
"Morning Tsuna." Reborn greeted to the brunet who stirred under the covers.
"Is Colonnello there?" A meek, sleepy voice asked.
"Yeah. The idiot is."
"Thanks for the little rain. The pain isn't bothering me anymore."
The blond smiled widely. "No problem!"
The brunet only hummed before slowly getting up with the help of Reborn and gazed at them with amber eyes. "Good morning." And his eyes went to brown.
They all looked at Reborn who shrugged. How come Tsuna's eyes changed into orange from and to brown?
