It was a few days later when Ward and Kayla were preparing for the F.A.S attack in the kitchen, with the water running loudly. They were going over which area would be best to hit first, when Kayla suddenly started retching. She ran to the sink as she began to throw up blood. Ward was beside her in an instance, holding her hair back and rubbing her back. She leaned against the sink when she had finished, as Ward picked up a cloth and wiped the blood away from her mouth.

"On a scale of one to ten, how attractive do I look right now?" Kayla giggled, a little colour returning to her cheeks.

"I've seen worse" Ward replied, with a smile.

It reminded her of when she had been kidnapped by Hydra and he had come to see her, saying those same words. I must really look bad, she thought to herself, still smiling. Ward kept the cloth on her chin, his other hand cupping her cheek, reluctant to move away.

"Am I interrupting something?" A voice questioned, walking into the kitchen, seeing how close they were.

They both turned to see Fitz standing there, looking rather amused by how they instantly jumped away from each other.

"Nope. Everything's fine" Kayla informed him.

"You look tired" Ward stated.

"I've been up all night trying to think of something about…your situation" Fitz confessed.

"You can say it, Fitz. I'm dying" Kayla shrugged.

"Well I'm not going to accept that. We've been through too much. This is not how it's going to end" Fitz insisted, tears beginning to well in his eyes.

"Hey, it's okay" Kayla said, as she rushed over to him, pulling him into a hug.

He hugged her back tightly, dropping his face into her neck, as he sobbed lightly.

"I don't want to lose anyone else" Fitz cried.

"I know, Fitz. I know. But sometimes…things happen, and there's nothing we can do to stop that. We just have to try to cope. And if I do…die, well I'll still be with you. You can't get rid of me that easily" She explained, making him chuckle.

"I'm sorry" Fitz mumbled, pulling away, rubbing his eyes.

"It's alright" She went on, rubbing his arm, as he sat down.

She went back over to Ward, who had been watching the interaction.

"If I do die, I want you to promise me you'll look after him" Kayla whispered.

"Of course I will" Ward stated.

"I mean it, no stupid decisions over trying to save me. I want you to live. And I want him to live. You're both going to need each other" Kayla exclaimed.

"I don't think Fitz wants me" Ward retorted.

"Well he's stuck with you anyway. I made him promise the same thing" Kayla grinned at him.

"And he agreed?" Ward frowned, surprised.

"Yes. He doesn't hate you, not anymore, you know" Kayla insisted.

"That doesn't mean he's forgiven me" Ward sighed.

"I know, but you're on the right track" Kayla said, nudging him in his side.

In response, Ward did the same thing and soon enough both of them had erupted into a game of play fighting, as Fitz watched on, laughing with them. Ward was trying to pin her arms to her side, when suddenly dozens of soldiers began to hurry past the kitchen. They all went to the doorway and looked on as they saw a man with shoulder length hair, who looked like he had spent the night in the sewer, being dragged away.

"Must be another Inhuman" Fitz sighed.

Kayla found it odd how the man didn't seem to be fighting back, even though he clearly seemed strong enough. Her eye caught on his hand and for a moment she thought it looked metal. She shook her head at this thought, figuring her eyes were just playing tricks on her. As he was just about to be dragged around the corner, his eyes fixed on Kayla's, a sad, confused look in them.

"We have to help him" Kayla announced.

"I think we have bigger problems at the moment" Ward retorted.

"He needs our help! He could be an Inhuman" Kayla stated.

"Or he might not be" Ward exclaimed.

"Well I'm helping him whether you like it or not" Kayla insisted, crossing her arms.

"…Ugh, alright. We'll help him" Ward sighed in defeat.

"Still such a softy" Kayla laughed, as they rushed back to Ward's room.

Once they were inside, Kayla began hacking her way into the CCTV system of the building.

"How are you getting past all the firewalls? Has Daisy's hacking abilities got that bad?" Fitz inquired.

"She may have changed her name, but she hasn't changed her system. I still know all her passwords" Kayla grinned.

"Ah, here we go" Kayla said, after scanning the feeds for where the man was being held.

"Vault D, what a surprise" Ward grumbled.

Kayla looked down at the information tab, and noticed a name that seemed familiar to her.

"Bucky Barnes…where do I know them name from?" Kayla frowned.

"The Winter Soldier" Ward mumbled.

"Who?" Kayla asked.

"Steve Rogers best friend" Fitz stated, but still Kayla seemed lost.

"Captain America" Fitz clarified.

"Oh…isn't he part of that group? What are they called…Revengers?" Kayla pondered.

"Avengers. Jesus, how do you not know this stuff?" Fitz queried.

"Superheroes were never my cup of tea really" She shrugged.

"What is Coulson doing with a super soldier?" Ward inquired.

"Well clearly he wants to use him. But how? I'm guessing Coulson can't just click his fingers and get this guy to do what he wants" Kayla exclaimed.

"Maybe he can…he was brainwashed by Hydra, maybe Coulson knows how to do it" Ward suggested.

"Did you ever meet him? You know when you were going around being a Nazi?" Fitz questioned.

"…No. I didn't even know about him; I was nobody at Hydra really" Ward confessed.

"And he's not with them anymore. He's with us, remember" Kayla insisted to Fitz, who nodded.

"But why now? Why has Coulson kidnapped him?" Ward asked.

"…Do you think he knows about the invasion?" Kayla frowned.

"I think it's a possibility we have to consider" Ward sighed.

"We've still got to help him. He may not be Inhuman, but I'm not letting Coulson strip this guy of his free will" Kayla explained.

"He could be dangerous" Ward warned.

"So are we" Kayla announced.
